17-year-old indicted for Grant Park murder

A grand jury indicted a suspected Atlanta gang member Friday for the murder of a Grant Park bartender.

The Fulton County Grand Jury indicted Jonathan Redding, 17, on 24 counts, including murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Earlier this month, Redding was charged in the Jan. 7 shooting of Standard Food & Spirits bartender John Henderson.

Atlanta Police said Redding and three other teenagers stormed the Memorial Drive bar, robbed Henderson and another employee, and then shot him. Henderson, 27, was shot once in the head and twice in the leg.

Police said Redding is a member of 30 Deep, a gang in the Mechanicsville section of Atlanta. The teenager, who also has a juvenile court record, has a tattoo on his cheek that says "30."

Police are asking the public to help identify the three other suspected gang members who participated in the Standard shooting and other crimes, said Yvette Brown, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County district attorney's office. The only description available is for three teenage males.

The grand jury also indicted Redding for a Dec. 21, 2008 of another employee outside the Standard, along with a Jan. 9 home invasion.

Detective said they connected Redding to Henderson's killing after one of two guns used in the slaying was used in the home invasion.

Redding remains in the Fulton County jail without bond.
