'Touch the Sound' brings a new kind of feeling to music

Not since the advent of talkies has there been a film that so profoundly explores and makes us rethink the nature of what we hear as Touch the Sound, a documentary of the world of Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Only gradually do we catch on that Glennie is deaf and has been since the age of 8. Yet she feels vibrations from her traditional and makeshift musical instruments and has forged a career as a recording artist. Read the full review

Evelyn Glennie is a Grammy-winning classical percussionist whose solo work is renowned. She is also deaf. For Evelyn, sound is palpable and rhythm is the basis of everything.
