Abel Solutions gives Hands On assistance
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Employees of IT firm Abel Solutions in Alpharetta shut down their packet sniffers and picked up garden tools to help renovate a Decatur school as part of Hands On Atlanta Day on Saturday, Oct. 7.
About 10 of the company’s 17 employees traveled to McLendon Elementary School in Decatur to remove overgrowth, plant flowers and shrubs and generally help beautify the grounds of the 48-year-old school.
It’s the sixth year the company has been involved in the annual volunteer day, co-founder Kevin Abel said.
Abel and his wife, company co-founder Cindy, got involved in Hands On Atlanta early in its life and, the organization’s leaders say, even helped spark its efforts to get small businesses involved in civic volunteering efforts.
Community involvement is a way of life at the firm.
“We encourage everyone to get involved, no matter what it is,” Abel said.
Oh, and for you non-techie types, a packet sniffer doesn’t have anything to do with looking to see if the mayonnaise is bad. It’s a piece of software that network engineers use to monitor the flow of traffic between computers on a network.
