Hard times ahead for Marietta’s F-22?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
This is a few days old, but the Hill, a D.C. newspaper/web site, has posted this bit of intelligence:
President Obama tried to tamp down expectations for the fervent supporters of Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor fighter jet as an overwhelming number of lawmakers are urging the White House to continue production of the aircraft.
Obama told Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.) at the Democrats’ retreat in Williamsburg, Va. that he will make the decision of whether to continue buying the stealthy fighter jet with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and always consider how the decisions affect the security of the country, according to presidential press pool reports .
Obama said he would always take into account local economies. However, he said: “We also have to deal with the debt and it is unsustainable. We have to make tough decisions.”
Scott’s 13th District includes Marietta, home to the F-22 plant.
Doug Stoner (D-Smyrna) on Tuesday was gathering signatures on the state Senate floor for a resolution asking Obama to preserve funding for the F-22.

Pres Obama—I voted for you because you said you would NOT CUT DEFENSE! Why is it now that DEFENSE must be cut to pay for our debt, while the make-work projects like dog parks and carbon capture science projects can run up an $880 Billion bill? What about my middle class job building this necessary aircraft? What about my son who has to fly a 28 year old F-15C in defending this nation because the Bush Administration was too cheap to build enough F-22s as the USAF had planned?
Dear Pres Obama, if we are going to spend precious tax dollars on dog parks and birth control, can’t we also spend $9B on 60 F-22s that our AF has proven it needs with 30 studies that validate that combat requirement? Please help the USAF!

“Why is it now that DEFENSE must be cut to pay for our debt, while the make-work projects like dog parks and carbon capture science projects can run up an $880 Billion bill?”
Because the projects have constructive value to society, GB, and the F-22 does not. In case you haven’t been paying attention, our “enemies” now consist of civilians blended among other civilian populations, armed with box cutters and envelopes. F-22s are not useful in fighting such a threat.
They’re a waste of money. Please turn your skills to something productive that will help America. Fighter jets aren’t it.

If the Republicans want to play hard ball, we can do that.
If this ‘petetion’ the law makers are sending him has more blue signatures then red, I say keep it.
If not, I say drop it.
Drones are the future of warfare anyway.
