Blue jean war escalates to include formal wear
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Last year, you’ll recall that state Sen. Dan Moody (R-Roswell) had a public confrontation over colleague John Bulloch (R-Ochlocknee) over the latter’s Friday wardrobe.
At the state Capitol, Bulloch likes to wear pressed blue jeans on Getting-Out-of-Atlanta Day.
Apparently, the disagreement has shifted away from words and into the realm of sartorial sarcasm.
Moody showed up today in a tuxedo. And Bulloch had his blue jeans. Again.
My AJC colleague Mary Lou Pickel talked with both:
“As you know, in the South it’s customary to dress up for special occasions,” Moody said. “We only serve 40 days out of 365. I consider each of those to be special days,” he said. A black tux is his way of showing respect for the people of Georgia, he said.
Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle noticed Moody’s outfit. “The senator looks extremely dapper,” Cagle said.
Last session, Moody and Bulloch exchanged words over their different views of “proper attire.”
Sen. Bulloch defended his choice of trouser Friday.
“I represent cotton farmers,” Bulloch said. He wore jeans, a Brooks Brothers tweedy jacket and yellow silk tie decorated with dragonflies. He also wore a handmade diamondback rattlesnake belt and ostrich skin cowboy boots.
“I think that a clean, neat pair of jeans with a sports coat and a tie is just as appropriate as anything else,” Bulloch said. “When we’re not in session, I wear ‘em everyday.”

Moody looks like he’s ready to pick up a pimply faced high school prom date for a night of awkward dancing and wine coolers. If that’s his idea of dressing up for his constituents then keep me as far away from all those weirdos in Roswell. Bulloch, whether I agree with his views or not, at least looks like a guy I could have a beer with and talk football/politics in a civil manner with….judging from the photo Id say Nan probably would agree

Wow….you would think Moody would focus on the $2.2 billion shortfall instead of what clothes someone wears.

This would never happen in Alabama. Is that Karen Handel with Bulloch in the photo?

Karen is the one wearing jeans.

I used to like bulloch before he became such a tool. Sounds like Patricks got some more plans after that beer. No real man wears tweedy jackets, yellow silk, dragonflies, rattlesnake boots and ostrich belts. Did bullock mug Usher?
I hope Bullock respects Patrick more in the morning than he respects real farmers wearing that $5000 worth of trash. No farmer I’ve ever met could afford that crap and sure wouldn’t be caught wearing it. I’m glad he’s decided to quit the senate and be a lobbyiest next year. He’ll fit in better there

Seriously? The last time I checked, our state was facing its worst budget shortfall since the Great Depression, hoping that Mississippi won’t improve test scores so that we won’t become the absolute worst state when it comes to education, and our infant mortality rate is on the rise as if we were living in a third world country.
Why is this state’s “premier” source of state politics discussing blue jeans. This paper is appalling…seriously!

This is why you people in Roswell should have elected someone else, like AHKTAR SADIQ!! If this guy, MOODY is so concerned how he looks, why doesn’t he try to help public schools and medical care along with the tax issues in his own district rather than worrying about clothes? Is the man gay? Why does he care how anyone looks? Why isn’t anyone asking these questions?

There is a matter of dress and decorum for those who serve in the legislature, this includes elected officials and those who work there. Jeans would never be allowed for a staff member at the state house, nor should it be for an elected official.
As to the other comments posted here: the man’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything, you’ve just exposed yourself as a bigot, and yet one that argues we should have elected a minority in Ahktar Sadiq - confused much?
Lastly, I note the trouble our state and country are in is due to in part to those who keep electing officials that they would rather “have a beer with” than are educated or have common sense.
