Phil Gingrey to Rush Limbaugh: ‘I regret those stupid comments’

Oops.

U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey spent today apologizing to the loudest voices of the Republican right — to radio talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and to former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich.

Gingrey’s crime? He declared that they earned a very good living by stirring up dust among conservatives, without having to struggle with the consequences.

This afternoon, on the nationally broadcast “Rush Limbaugh Show,” Gingrey said:

“I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments, and I just wanted to tell you, Rush — and all our conservative giants, who help us so much to maintain our base and grow it to get back this majority — that I regret those stupid comments.”

Gingrey began his day of mea culpas with a call to Neal Boortz on WSB Radio in Atlanta. Then Limbaugh at 12:30 p.m. A session with Hannity will be part of his 5 p.m. program — broadcast locally on WSB.

Gingrey called Gingrich as well, said Gingrey spokesman Chris Jackson. “It was a whoops-mouth situation,” Jackson said. The congressman also published an extended statement of regret on his congressional web site:

“I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservatives—that was not my intent. I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments….

“Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, and other conservative giants are the voices of the conservative movement’s conscience. Everyday, millions and millions of Americans—myself included—turn on their radios and televisions to listen to what they have to say, and we are inspired by their words and by their determination.”

Translation: Please, God, make these dittoheads stop calling my office. “I’ve heard from a lot of them since my foot-and-mouth disease yesterday,” Gingrich told Limbaugh.

The liberal group Think Progress has posted a YouTube clip of Limbaugh’s interview with Gingrey.

A quick backgrounder:

— Last week, President Barack Obama reportedly advised congressional Republicans not to view Rush Limbaugh as a path to constructive dialogue.

— Limbaugh declared Monday that Obama was more afraid of him than of House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) or Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

— A Politico.com reporter on Tuesday asked Gingrey what he thought of Limbaugh’s remarks. Said Gingrey:

“It’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders.”

So. Here’s a partial transcript of Gingrey’s encounter with Limbaugh:

Gingrey: Rush, thank you so much. I thank you for the opportunity, of course this is not exactly the way to I wanted to come on, but I appreciate you giving me the opportunity.

Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. Basically the intent of my words to them was to discuss the unique position of congressional Republicans and our leadership — particularly John Boehner and Mitch McConnell.

I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments, and I just wanted to tell you, Rush — and all our conservative giants, who help us so much to maintain our base and grow it to get back this majority — that I regret those stupid comments.

Limbaugh: Well, look, I appreciate that. I have quite a bit of experience with people in the media, and they loved the little storm that they were able to create yesterday, and I thought this was one of the goals.

….But it is what it is, and I’m glad that you called. And I read your explanation on the web site. We all want to be on the same team here, congressman. Our numbers are dwindling in Congress and we want to reverse that.

Gingrey: As you say, Rush, we’re down to 178 in the House, and our House membership is looking more and more conservative.

And we’re going to work our tails off across the country trying to recruit additional Republicans that understand - as you have so well said — that this economic bailout-rescue-stimulus package is nothing but growing the government…

And again, I was trying to defend John Boehner, who is providing very good leadership on this issue. I can assure you, Rush, that on the House side there will be very, very few Republicans….

Limbaugh: I understand why you guys might be upset with me. I don’t have thin skin, and when I make the statement that it appears the president’s more concerned with me than he is with Mitch McConnell or John Boehner, I can understand it might offend some people….

There are Republicans who think Gingrey was right the first time. U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, fresh from re-election, was at the state Capitol on Wednesday. Chambliss took issue with Limbaugh, who last week said he wishes failure upon Obama.

“I’m not one of those in the Rush Limbaugh camp who wants to see him fail,” Chambliss told about 140 members of the National Federation of Independent Business. ” His failure will be your failure and his success will hopefully be your business success.”

Chambliss later added: “Whether you voted for President Obama or not, we all have to get behind him.”

No one is calling Obama the “messiah” or a “superhero” but you right-wing jerks. Most people are just hoping he can fix Bush’s numerous messes like Iraq. Iraq is America’s largest, most expensive Social Experiment in American history to the expected tune of 1-3 TRILLION dollars… but health care for Americans, oh that’s socialism. Eight years of Bush have be disastrous for America. Who’s going to fix Bush’s mess, the Republicans? Give me a break.

…and now he backs down to a draft-dodging pederast…Gingrey is no man…how many times must he prove it to the good people of Georgia before they tar and feather him? Remember his pronouncments, as an M.D., on Terry Schiavo? He is an embarrasment to Georgia. Kennesaw, Cobb, Marietta…please toss him. You like having such a weenie as congressman? The outpouring of support from ALL people should be a sign to you that God is trying to unite this Nation. Only God can take a Black man from Africa and a White woman from Kansas and produce a smart man who has the welfare of ALL as his total agenda. Please if you cannot say something to further inspire unity do not say anything at all.

I guess it is also a family value when someone like Newt Gingrich wants to impeach Bill Clinton for having oral sex and then it is revealed that he has had an affair on his wife. You conservatives need to learn how live by your own standards that you’re trying to push on everyone else. All you are about is helping the rich get richer while you step on the heads of the poor. I guess that’s how Limbaugh supports his drug habit.

This is living proof it’s time for people to wake up in this country (and I think we started this year). I am Repbulican but voted Democratic for the first time ever. Republicans have let the Conservatives rule far too long and Democrats have let Liberals rule far too long. Most of us lie in the middle and it will stay that way. Both parties better get it together work together, and quit pretending it’s your way or the highway! Gingrey don’t ever apologize for something you may or may not have said. It’s not your fault the rest of the country is trying to move forward and be a better country, while some are just born miserable and will complain on anything and everything (some being just completely ignorant)!!

It seems to me that disc jockey Rush Limbaugh is jealous of President Obama. Rush is jealous because he’s a failure and misery loves company. The fact that President Obama won the Democratic nomination and the Presidential election (in spite of Operation Chaos and Rush”s false allegations about President Obama’s character, religion, ethnicity, and patriotism) proves that Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant. Day by day Rush is increasingly becoming more pathetic and desperate. All Rush has left is his dwindling base of blind followers who shamelessly stroke his ego. I hope Rush continues to dig his own grave and I hope he takes everyone that seeks the failure of our great country with him.

This is sad. Finally a conservative Rep stood up and spoke the truth about Limbaugh and then gets so much heat from Limbaugh lovers that he backs down and looks the fool in doing so. You can’t change the meaning of the words you spoke, and why would you want to? It was the truth. Hatemongering and fear of reprisal have too long been the common club used to beat those who disagree. Based on what I can tell, the whole conservative movement failed. So it doesn’t surprise me its vocal leadership is not saying stupid things. I am not mad at Rush because he does what he does and gets paid handsomely for it. He just signed a contract worth over $400 million. There is no publicity better than free publicity and he is getting plenty of that right now. Madonna and Prince knew how to get free publicity and make money off it is and so does Rush.

However, Gingrey and any politician (this includes Pres. Obama) that spends their time worrying about what Rush says is wasting more taxpayer money. They need to come up with counter proposals if they don’t like Obama’s plan. Don’t just disagree without making a proposal. In other words, earn your freaking paychecks.

Christian Sister - I agree. Only the hand of God could have put Obama in office. And if that is the case, we need to be supportive while using proper judgement. I just cannot understand the level of hate that’s exposed here. Please for some of you, for your own sanity, get some help or read the bible and do the Godly thing.

Can’t you see that if you strip everyone of color that we are all the same? All this hate is based on FEAR, an unfounded FEAR. What will Mr. Obama really change? The distribution of wealth and the power structure will not really change. He won’t drop the wealth of this county at the feet of black people. He believes that hard work and integrity speaks volume. The only thing that will change is that some will see a mixed race or “black” man who is competent and able.

Let the hate go, it’s not healthy.. And don’t tell me that it’s political. When you speak of wanting him to fail or call him names that doesn’t befit an animal, then what else could it be but racial hate. Lets move on.. Lets encourage each other to join in and make this county a better place. Spew the hate at the CEO’s that don’t care about you and I. They’re the enemy, robbing this country and our children of their future. Hold your Congressmen and Senator’s responsible and accountable. Let’s look to the future..

So far Obama hasn’t impressed me. His stated economic stimulus package will cost a money that will not be paid back in my lifetime without helping families who have been laid off. Also, anyone who bought more home than they can afford doesn’t need to be bailed out. And the banks that loaned them the money also need to suffer.

Congratulations to Congressman Gingrey if he has truly seen the light. I hope Obama starts working for the American people not the super rich who paid for his election and inaugural parties. But that probably won’t happen.

From one Christian to another, I dont get why conservative Christians can speak so negatively about someone because you dont agree with them. As Christians we are taught to believe in our God and know that His will shall be done. He will provide and take care of His people.

So why criticize anyone and call them out of their name. If we cant speak life to others it should be kept to ourselves. Prayer is key in all that is going on but we have to also be careful to listen. God says His sheep know His voice, so we need to be certain of who we are listening to.

If you believe in God the way you say you do, stop being so mean and hateful to others because this is not what He wants any of us to do whether conservative or liberal.

If you are conservative “Christian” be sure to act Christ like and if you cant get that under control maybe you need to ask yourself the real reason you feel the way you do and stop using God as a crutch for your excuse.

Phil Gingrey is a true conservative. It is too bad everyone has to rethink and restate every comment to be politically correct. We need to get back to basics and forget political correctness everywhere. I did not vote for Obama, nor did nearly 50% of this country. It is not a matter of wanting him to fail, he has no agenda that can be supported, and is still an empty suit with a big mouth. He is so far from what those fools who flocked to the polls to elect him believe him to be, that it is ludicrous. He will not succeed in destroying this country, even with the help of the dangerous liberal media, because the true Americans will not succumb to his ravings, and we will take the country on the road to conservative prosperity again. The incompetents in banking and industry need to fail and let them be reorganized without the government’s deep pockets. The country will only then be stronger and not follow a path of socialism. If it seems to be a “freebie”, don’t accept it. We don’t need Obama and his platitudes. He certainly does not have America’s best interests in mind. He only desires to further his elitist, ego driven desires. He offered “free” candy, and in the hurry to get the “freebies”, no one bothered to ask how the candy was to be purchased. Hopefully, suffering through four years with this dangerous administration, will allow the country to really think before they vote in another four years.

Phil, you and Bobbi are great conservatives and I always enjoyed working for you, However, we have our work set out for us and we need you to stay focus. As the President of the Georgia Conservative Republican Voters Coalition, we are trying to get the GA GOP back to their Conservative Roots and that’s very difficult. They seem to only care for the Incumbents, regardless if they are RINO’s, Progressives or Compassionates. They seem to be against us Conservatives and therefore, if they continue, we will stop supporting them and attempt to start a ” New Party” such as the Independent Conservatives of Georgia” Stop attacking our own Conservatives like Sean and Rush, it doesn’t help our cause of trying to do things according to being ” RIGHT or WRONG” and never bending to pressure from the DemocRATS or political RINO’s. You could help us by coming to our aid and helping us recruit more Chapters throughout the State of Georgia. Our mission is to ’ WIN ELECTIONS FOR CONSERVATIVES ” and work to heal the wounds of the GA GOP. There are over 15 counties in Georgia without a Local GOP Chapter and the GAGOP does nothing to find leaders to start a Chapter. If they can’t, we will.

As usual, the Obama cult followers prove themselves too ignorant to intellectually discuss Obama’s policies, so they make it personal and attack anyone who disagrees. The democrats are supposed to support policies of tolerance and anti-bigotry, yet comments here show just the opposite. You are all intellectually dishonest, because you know full well that a person can wish another’s policies to fail without wishing harm to that person. Either that, or you really are just plain stupid. So, now, it’s either agree with Obama and give him our blessing, or we are traitors. Now, how about reality. True Christians don’t sit idly by and watch a movement destroy the country they live in without speaking up. Being a Christian doesn’t require being “nice” to a mugger as the mugger is beating the crap out of your neighbor. Get real.

History keeps repeating itself over and over, in an endless cycle. 1770’s- Half of America hates the King, half loves him. Americans kill each other until one side wins. 1860’s- Arguments over slavery, taxes, tariffs, and states rights turn from words to rifled muskets. Americans kill each other until one side wins. 1870’s- Treaty negotiations with the Plains Indians break down. Americans kill each other until one side wins. 1900- Anarchists, communists, fascists, and every other group you can name decides to change America with bombs and assasinations. Most of their leaders wind up hanging from tree’s, the rest prefer to keep their necks intact. 1919- Half of America loves booze, half of America hates it, the hate side wins with the prohibition. Thirty thousand Americans die in the booze wars that follow. 1930’s- An Army of military veterans encamps in Washington demanding payment of WW1 military bonuses. They eventually clash with police and active duty military, two Americans dead, hundreds injured. 1940’s- The big one. Most Americans want Germany defeated, some don’t. Others ,like Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, decide to hand the A-bomb to the Russians. 1960’s- We all know how unified we were through this decade. 1970’s- I can’t remember, just vague images of girls interspersed with loud rock. Not a lot of money, just a lot of fun. Which brings us to my point. People keep saying I wish we could be unified again, and I always ask the same question , When were we unified? The Constitution wasn’t written to “unify people”. It was written to codify into law the already inalienable individual rights of a free people. Our relationship reminds me of my family. I disagree with my brothers all the time, we argue, and we’ve fought tooth, fang, and claw. But let some outside force threaten the family and suddenly we act as one.

What a pathetic performance by Gingrey. First of all, his words were the ABSOLUTE truth. Second, they were “fair and balanced”. He didn’t even slam their abilities; just pointed out that they’d have to sing a different tune if they were in a different position. Duh.

If you can’t even stand up for those comments, how are citizens in Georgia going to trust you to stand up for ANYTHING, except talk radio talking points?

Truly as pathetic a display as I have seen on the national stage since Up With People sang at the Super Bowl.

If any of you had taken the time to learn what Limbaugh said, and in the context of the comment you would know that he had said he hoped President Obama would do well, he just hoped that his socialistic plans would FAIL… If you have any intellectual integrity you will say that we have all the same rights that you do!!! You have bashed everything President Bush has done since DAY 1 …DAY 1… REMEMBER ???? selected not elected He’s not my President …If I heard that once I heard it a million times, Yet you were VOICING YOUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS… Does not Limbaugh also have those same rights??? I see nothing but a bunch of HYPOCRITES… You seem to believe that we on the right have no RIGHT to speak out ..yet YOU can say or do anything you wish….. Remember help them to take away my freedom of speech today, but if you speak out against them …THEY WILL COME AFTER YOU NEXT…

HEAR ARE A FEW QUOTES FROM SOME VERY INTELLIGENT MEN Thomas Jefferson Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

John Adams

All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.

Property is surely a right of mankind as real as liberty.

George Washington

Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder.

The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon.

The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves.

Benjamin Franklin

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship

Distrust and caution are the parents of security.

He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money.

Rather go to bed with out dinner than to rise in debt.

Remember that credit is money.

The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

The U. S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself.

There are two ways of being happy: We must either diminish our wants or augment our means - either may do - the result is the same and it is for each man to decide for himself and to do that which happens to be easier.

When in doubt, don’t. go to bainyquotes and search out what the founders said !!

Is faithful obedience to the American Creed “socialism,” or do you think one can be “American” yet not subscribe to E Pluribus Unum?”

“All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of God.” Th. Jefferson

One People, sovereign; One Nation by Annuit Coeptis, and one president made Elect by Divine Providence working through the collective wisdom and free choice of the sovereign citizens, the Electorate, to serve us faithfully: obedient to the Oath, by the enunciated Creed.

The “Wallstreet Bailout” is welfare fascism put to Obama and McCain before the election just as NAFTA was put to Clinton by Bush1…to ensure “bi-partisan” support of a “lead or silver” proposition by the same faction which financed Hitler, used the “Red Scare” to coverup analysis of the treason which off-shored Roman Catholic collection plate money to create the German threat; killed John and Martin to send us to die for the pope in Vietnam, then dusted up “Watergate” to carry the outraged post-Vietnam citizens off the scent of treason that got us into it; then cheated Bush2 into the WH to commit 9/11 for false war for opium, oil, the Saudis, and a corrupt faction of false Jews in the State of Israel, now “panicking” the People with this financial “collapse” brought on by their collective treason.

There are only two sides to the issue: The Constitution, or Treason.

Our Whig Founders knew of the difficulty with factions. Having a draft-dodging closet queen pederast (Limbaugh) tell us to support a draft-dodging closet queen cheated into the WH by only the Roman Catholic votes on the Supreme Court (Bush2) who then goes on to provably commit 9/11 and have frequent “overnights” with a homosexual prostitute signed into the WH’s Secret Service social entrance logbook should tell the majority of reasonable, thinking patriotic citizens that something’s “fishy.”

When the economy is drained to the profit of the same faction which manipulated or condoned the serial treasonous multi-generational abominations to occur in Our Land, and further insult is piled on to have the People, the eighty percent Working Class, foot the bill to shore up the hyper-leveraged failure of those who believe in Mammon over Righteousness, by the Congress they bought and paid for, made up of such as punk Phil Gingrey, who has overtly revealed himself yet again to be no man, and no Georgian, futher oppression of The People, in direct violation of the Creed is TREASON.

Bush and Cheney tried and fried first…the rest of their faction’s leaders to follow.

The solution to “our” problem is the complete disenfranchisement and expropriation of “them which brung ‘em.”

Support Limbaugh and any other who wittingly foisted the Bush fraud on the American People, or condoned his father’s assassination of John Kennedy and Dr. King; or his grandfather’s and Rome’s Fifth Column’s finance of Adolf Hitler?: be known as a traitor to be pursued and brought to stand before the Bar of American Justice: a fair trial and a short trip to the nearest Tory Oak.

Obama knows what’s going on, buts sings the true notes of Our Song: the Creed. We must preserve his life for he is anointed.

We, the People, must relearn the Mottoes and the tune…those who can’t sing it must learn. Those who sing the song of fascist plutocracy in service to what Our Founder told us is “the real Anti-Christ,” must be tagged and tossed…and their ill-gotten gains restored to the Treasury and the People.

Jefferson founded America as a true Prophet of the One Creator G-d. Righteous Americans follow Jefferson by the Creed: the three Mottoes.

To Samuel Kercheval Monticello, January 19, 1810

SIR, — Yours of the 7th instant has been duly received, with the pamphlet inclosed, for which I return you my thanks. Nothing can be more exactly and seriously true than what is there stated; that but a short time elapsed after the death of the great reformer of the Jewish religion, before his principles were departed from by those who professed to be his special servants, and perverted into an engine for enslaving mankind, aggrandising their oppressors in Church and State; that the purest system of morals ever before preached to man, has been adulterated and sophisticated by artificial constructions, into a mere contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves; that rational men not being able to swallow their impious heresies, in order to force them down their throats, they raise the hue and cry of infidelity, while themselves are the greatest obstacles to the advancement of the real doctrines of Jesus, and do in fact constitute the real Anti-Christ.

Who ya gonna believe, a Prophet of G-d; or, a pill-popping pederast like Rush Limbaugh who said “The Roman Catholic Church is the rock-ribbed backbone of American moral values” and his proven wh*re - “good” Roman Catholic Gingrey?

There is no middle ground.

Jefferson and the Whig Founders blessed the world and our ancestors, and through Obama and The People, G-d willing, shall again.

Rome brings only evil to individuals and nations.

Jefferson also thought that Native Americans were transplanted Welshmen. Further, he was enough of a hypocrite that he refused to free his slaves while starting a family with Sally Hemmings. On top of all that, he managed his own affairs so poorly that, when he died, he was basically living on charity of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In the Sixties, Virginia public school History courses taught that the Jamestown colonists were greeted by “blue-eyed, blond Indians speaking Welsh.” On the ships which dropped them off, they sent letters back to England, now in the British Museum stating this fact.

As for being smarter than Jefferson, may people were and are. As a descendant of one of the Founding Fathers, I am not so impressed with Jefferson. He was an accomplished man but a man nonetheless. He was certainly no prophet or saint. And, as I have mentioned before, he was a hypocrite and so inept at managing his own affairs that, had it not been for the charity of the Commonwealth of Virginia, he would have died penniless and homeless.

From “Dictionary.com”: “Word History: Bigots may have more in common with God than one might think. Legend has it that Rollo, the first duke of Normandy, refused to kiss the foot of the French king Charles III, uttering the phrase bi got, his borrowing of the assumed Old English equivalent of our expression by God.”

Annuit Coeptis is one-third of America’s Creed. Just keep kissing, or letting your children kiss, the anatomy of pedophiles, Denise.

Jefferson knew better and his writings, should the benighted ever bother reading them, prove him America’s Prophet, with Dr. King: helping us to fully understand all the evil which has befallen our once great Nation since his time.

Cry for “Political Correctness,” Denise, it is a tool which has served Rome’s Fifth Column to great effect…but true Southerners…and those of true American blood…know the truth…and it doesn’t make the lies of your pedophiliac alien treasonous culture any less unpalatable.

Your rejection of Wikipedia is a rejection of collective wisdom and individual discernment, adhering only to that which the “approved” false-elite has to say to bolster their transgenerational evil and “mystification” for confusion.

G-d determined that Thomas Jefferson found America: he was Author of the sine qua non Declaration; and all his extant writings prove him Prophet.

Stay with Rome, Denise. Reject America and Our Creed. Love the draft-dodging pederast Limbaugh. Stay married to your own “Phil Gingrey”-type of no-man…like Ted Haggard’s wife. The curses upon you are, and will be, of your own imprecation.

Got nothing but ad hominem, eh Denise? Direct descendant of one of America’s Founders, you say? What a pathetic joke. Could only have been the single papist from John Wilkes Booth’s and Karen Handel’s Maryland, Charles Carroll, and he was an interloper.

It is time for the Republican party to return to its roots and to move away, far away, from the social conservatives and the know-nothing blowhards. Until, my support for the GOP is over as I have had more than enough stupid in my party!

Why is it that this whole episode reminds me of the most famous scene in “Deliverance” (you know the one), except with the Ned Beatty character (little Rush-like, don’t you think?) turning the tables on the toothless redneck.

Two more pathetic characters are hard to imagine.

I can think of some more pathetic characters. How about all the Obama picks that do not pay their taxes (Now his Labor Dec. pick is being investigated for not paying her taxes). Or Obama himself for his sloppy unprofessional vetting process. I don’t think that Obama or his hangers-on have the slightest idea about what they are doing. Peace.

P.S. Rush was and is right. You libs hate him because he calls you out. Peace, again.

Sad is the day that an elected official feels the need to publicly apologize to a right wing ideologue for a very rational statement that was pretty mild, by comparison, to the vitriol that Limbaugh puts out. Rush has, over the years, insulted schoolteachers, families in favor of the SCHIP program, environmentalists, vegetarians, the working poor, and a 13 year old girl (Chelsea Clinton in 1993). And I don’t remember him apologizing to anybody for any of it.

One thing the Rush-lubbers don’t get is tidbits like this:

“I have quite a bit of experience with people in the media, and they loved the little storm that they were able to create yesterday, and I thought this was one of the goals.”

Who exactly is Rushie talking about, when he refers to “the media”? He himself is “the media!” It’s ironic to me that the Dubyites, the Ronnie Ray-gunites, all the way back to the John Birchers, have gnashed their teeth about “the media.” In 2009, “the media” is Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz: people who make millions of dollars doing nothing but talking on the radio.

I’ll be daggoned if I want my Congressman crawling around people like that, tail between legs, telling them how sorry he is for expressing his opinion.
