In PSC race, both candidates show last-minute money

Both candidates in the runoff for the Public Service Commission have now filed their final campaign disclosure reports.

Democrat Jim Powell, though he came in first in the Nov. 4 general election, has raised roughly half as much as Republican Lauren “Bubba” McDonald — overall, and in the last four weeks.

According to my AJC colleague James Salzer, McDonald had raised $68,065 since the last filing deadline, Oct. 25. Overall, he’s raised $214,315 since the start of the campaign and spent $156,767.

Among the contributors in the past month were four Atlanta Gas Light executives and several other people working for companies the PSC regulates. McDonald also received $5,000 from Republican PSC Commissioner Doug Everett and received $7,200 from nine GOP state lawmakers.

Powell has raised $38,710 in the four-week runoff period, most of the cash coming from unions and Democratic groups. Overall, he’s raised $100,300. Powell has spent $89,652.

Like I said before, each & every Georgia voter (Democrat, Republican or other) has no right to cry, moan or bellyache if they fail to get out today and vote for Jim Powell for the statewide Public Service Commission of Georgia. We’re not talking rocket science or nuclear physics here people! Georgia’s Republican politicians have done nothing but stand back, take bribes & allow our utilities and taxes to increase over the last several years. Don’t you think its time for a positive change by ushering in a no-nonsense individual like Jim Powell to represent us on the Public Service Commission? For the sake of your household & your own pocketbook, “WAKE UP & GO VOTE FOR DEMOCRAT JIM POWELL FOR GEORGIA’S PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.” You’ll be glad you did…

I agree with Jay by saying, “Each and every Georgia voter has no right to cry or moan” cause they all—Democrat & Republican alike—had their chance. So now the citizens of Georgia need to get ready for what’s coming their way…ongoing political games, gross mismanagement and good ‘ol boy tactics that only lead to rising home utility costs for everyone! See if Lauren “Bubba” McDonald offers to advocate to help ease your pain when you can’t afford to pay your monthly utility bills in the coming months. Then remember, you had your chance to help bring about change, but you chose to ignore your role in shaping it by showing up and voting for Jim Powell. HUGE MISTAKE!
