Barr endorses Chambliss in today’s runoff

Allen Buckley, the defeated Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate, has been reluctant to endorse either the Democrat or Republican in the U.S. Senate runoff.

But Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr has no qualms.

According to the web site Crazy for Liberty, Barr has endorsed Saxby Chambliss over Jim Martin in Tuesday’s runoff.

Surprised? Consider that both Chambliss and Barr — then still a Republican — were part of the Class of ’94 brought to Congress by Newt Gingrich. Barr was ousted from the U.S. House in ’02, the same year that Chambliss moved up to the Senate.

In a letter presumably distributed to Libertarians in Georgia, Barr says:

In Tuesday, December 2nd’s runoff election, we have a choice between incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

I urge you to vote for Saxby Chambliss.

Sen. Chambliss is closer to the Libertarian position on a number of key issues, including: shrinking the size of government, less government spending, abolishing the IRS, replacing the income tax with a consumption tax and ending the government bailouts.

And there is one other major consideration: the legislative branch of our government should not be a rubber stamp for the executive branch.

There should be a check and balance between the two. The Democrats are close to obtaining a majority of 60 members of the Senate which means the opposition party, the Republicans in this case, will have very few opportunities to have meaningful input on legislative actions.

To me, one party rule in both the legislative and executive branches is a prescription for bad public policy decisions.

Please join me in voting for Saxby Chambliss in the US Senate runoff election.

Sincerely,

Bob Barr

Ya know, I’ve spent the last several months defending Barr to my fellow Libertarians, saying that he was really one of us, even though his change was fairly recent. (As was mine, which made it easier for me to accept him.)

He just made me a fool.

Normally, I feel that inter party alliances are a GOOD thing. If the third parties endorsed the main two in a run off, they might be courted for power more.

But in the case of Bob Barr….yes, he’s a LINO.

Not really… most people today who call themselves “libertarians” are nothing more than Republicans who don’t go to church.

The classical Libertarian party of small government died a long time ago.

I am a newly endoctrined Libertarian.

In his defense, there are only two candidates to choose from in today’s election. From what I have heard, it was “required” that the elected senate candidate receive at least 50% of the vote and the two main party candidates each received more than the Libertarian Party candidate. We could argue and fight to say that the Libertarian candidate should not have been ousted from todays election (or a legislative change to the 50%-rule) but the horse is out of the barn.

It is our duty to vote and we can only choose from all candidates available. In this case, there’s only two and Bob Barr expressed an opinion of who he thought was the better of the two.

I was undecided, now I am comfortable voting for Saxby. Saxby is far better than that Martin bore.

The Lobbyists just coughed up an extra $10 million for SISSY SAXBY’S runoff. How do you think he’ll repay them?

I have a confession to make. I am the only person posting anti Saxby posts. I have been using multiple names (American Bail out College Fund, US MARINES for JIM MARTIN and countless others) to make it look as though there is a ground well of support for Martin. Sadly, I have failed. I have called my shrink and he is going to stay on the phone with me while the poll results come in tonight. My family has also arranged a sitter for me. The real sad thing is that after today I am out of job. I have been on the democratic payroll for months now, and I guess it is back to the welfare office. I irrationally hate Saxby.

It is Bush’s fault Saxby is to blame for everything wrong in the world. He built the weather machine that made Hurricane Kartina Van dan Huevel hit New Orleans. I hate Saxby as much as I hate Bush. Why do you think that no hurricane has ever hit Crawford, TX or Moultrie GA? All liberals like me that suffer from BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrone) should vote for Saxby. It will be Bush’s fault if Saxby wins. It will be Bush’s fault that they will steal the election because they are racist. I hate Bush.

WILL THE REAL SISSY SAXBY STAND UP!

By Will Jones

He will not stand up because he cannot. He is stuck in his undies in his mother’s basement. The poster Sissy Saxby is retard on the democrat payroll. But do not pick on him. He is not a stable man. He made a pass at Saxby years ago and Saxby rebuffed his advances. He is a homo scorned. Thus the irrational hate and lies.

The real SISSY SAXBY is the draft-dodging sissy who questioned the courage of a triple-amputee war veteran. Such a person will obviously do anything to enhance his own power.
