Should Obama come to Georgia? No, says Brazile

While former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani stumped for Republican Saxby Chambliss, Democratic strategist and commentator Donna Brazile made the rounds in Atlanta for Democrat Jim Martin.

Here’s what Brazile — who managed Al Gore’s 2000 presidential bid — said an hour or so ago when asked if President-elect Barack Obama should head to Georgia to close out the U.S. Senate race:

”No. I think President-elect Obama is doing what he must do and what he needs to do — it’s to focus on his transition. He has 56 days. He has many challenges.

“While I know and understand and appreciate the desire to see President-elect Obama down in Georgia, I think strategically, he should focus on the transition.

“I’ve not gotten word from his campaign about his plans, but what I do know is that with the robo-calls, the recorded calls, with the radio spots, with former President Clinton, who came down, Vice President Gore, members of Congress and everyone else — the machine is here. He left a staff in place. This is not a skeletal operation. There’s some meat and bones on this operation.

“So I’m confident we will get the vote out.”

Two things: Brazile is pretty plugged in, so take her claim of ignorance on Obama’s itinerary with a grain of salt. Also, note that Brazile mentioned the robo-calls and the radio ads that Obama had cut for Martin. But she didn’t mention TV ads.

Yes, Obama has a lot of things to do in 56 days. For instance, laying the burden of debt on our great-great grandchildren, reckless spending, and hiring the old guard from the Clinton administration. God help us.

Obama is the help G-d has sent us as “Married to the Mob” McCain and Hitler-in-Drag/Accursed Palin were obviously the tools of the same Anti-Christ which cheated homosexual, draft-dodging 9/11-committing hypocrite Bush into office.

I stand to correct “My Two Cents”…The DEBT has already been established by our current President, and Bush is still trying to create new Free Trade Deal. That means more jobs being lost.

So yes, BURDEN and DEBT will be LONG RUNNING for America!

My 2 cents should give a rebate for his inherent ignorance. Obama can’t be the scapegoat for all the ills we currently have. Bush has bartered 2 cent’s kid’s futures if anyone. Blogs are good for jerks like that to hide and say things with no merit. Obama is doing everything right now to make things better, and he is honest with his expectations time-table and has more than a clue in regards to what it will take.

Additional spending is going to solve all of our problems? Where do you think this bailout money coming from??? We are trying to save every industry and business. If bad decisions are made that is the cost of doing business. Public funds do not need to support bad business decisions or bailout those businesses that took advantage of people in order to make hand over fist profits . The mantra of this candidate was change. Sorry, I am not seeing anything but the same old, same old and a lot of needless spending.

Why bother bringing Obama to Georgia? He’ll just read pretty and politically correctg words written by somebody else from a teleprompter, won’t take questions, and won’t have a clue what Jim Martin has been in Georgia.

After all, Obama is so so very preoccupied with the fictitious and elitist “Office of the President Elect”—which doesn’t exist (boy! All those flags and the fake placard sure look official—don’t they?).

B. Hussein Obama is a complete and utter void surrounded by a sphincter— joke of an empty suit made up of a facade created by the highest-paid campaign staff in history—that only the “chosen one”—his eminence, the messiah—could pull off .

WHAT DO YOU IDIOT CONSERVATIVES PROPOSE WE DO? LET CITI GO DOWN. LET THE BIG 3 GO DOWN. LET AIG GO DOWN. LET THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM COLLAPSE. ALL TO PROVE A POINT? THEN WHAT? THEN WHAT?

Reading if fundamental! You idiots should learn a thing or two and start to think.

If AIG goes down, the largest financial services-related company in the country, who’s going to have faith in any bank or other company for that matter. In case you didn’t know, our country is built on debt. Even your great Wal-Mart borrows money. If the financial system collapses, no one, no one can borrow money. Your company, McDonald’s, can’t even make payroll. Apocalypse is upon us at that stage! Is that your solution?

True enough the Big 3 have made horrible decision and their former management is the pits (the current guys at all of the Big 3 have been there less than 3 or 4 years, so why are they being blamed?). However, we’re talking 3-4 million jobs if they shut down. What would 3-4 million people hitting the unemployment line do to the economy? It simple. 3-4 million people would be added to unemployment insurance (through the government). 3-4 million people can’t pay their mortgages, rent, car notes, credit cards, student loans, etc… Additionally, 3-4 million people can’t pay taxes.

NOT A PRETTY PICTURE. Financial companies can’t get paid, government doesn’t get paid, stores don’t sell things (so why keep people employed), etc…..

Obama is not wasting any time

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama has decided to keep Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates in a show of bipartisan continuity in a time of war, the first time a Pentagon chief has been carried over from a president of a different party, Democrats close to the transition said Tuesday.

Mr. Obama’s advisers were near an agreement with Mr. Gates to stay on for perhaps a year, and they expect to announce the decision as early as next week along with other members of the president-elect’s national security team, the Democrats said. The two sides in recent days have been working out particulars about how Mr. Gates would wield authority in a new administration.

The move will give the new president a defense secretary with support on both sides of the aisle in Congress, experience with foreign leaders around the world and respect among the senior military officer corps.

Republicans are just a bunch of elitist wannabees and the ones from the south (where I am from) are a bunch of rednecks who want to act like they have an education. All they do is repeat talking points that Sean Hannity or Rush Limbough spouted out the night before on their radio program. They don’t realize that the rich people in the Republican party that they are supporting only deal with them so they can get their vote. They would otherwise not be associated with the trailer-dwelling trash like Sarah Palin and her ilk. Anyway, Republicans need to realize that they don’t represent American values, but they do represent racism, elitism and phony patriotism. And as a final point, don’t buy the fact that they say that they know so much about the economy. The last time the economy was this screwed up was when George H.W. Bush was in office back in 1991-1992 and now George W has screwed it up just as bad or worse. I just have one question: Where are all those ‘W-The President’ stickers that people had on their overpriced cars. @ Luvlee,

Some people not being able to pay their mortgages would not have been enough to crash this economy. Why not do some research and find out about credit default swaps and credit derivatives. So many companies gambled on mortgage loans that they treated Wall Street like a casino. Sooner or later, it had to blow up. There was lax or nonexistent regulation and oversight and only a few people really understood credit derivatives in the first place. Even Alan Greenspan testified he was surprised (imagine that!) that the banks and investment companies didn’t self-regulate. So, don’t lay this mess solely at the feet of poor people who lost their homes.

Hey GOD Help Us All!! Who freaking cares if Obama ia the anti-christ???? It will still be way better than what we have had with Bush and his gang. We all will be paying for Bush’s disastrous mistakes—-probably for eternity. At the end of the day, you are a scared little racist christian. Go ahead and admit it. There is nothing anti-christ about Obama and you know it. You are trying, unsuccessfully I might add, to hide you racist thoughts behind religion. That dog don’t hunt with most of us anymore. You go right along and live you little pathetic life while the rest of us try to work to get this country back on the right track.

The exit polls showed that 96% of blacks voted for Obama, while 55% of whites voted for McCain. And the blacks say they didn’t vote for the President-Elect based on his race? You mean to tell me that 96% of the black voting population made an educated decision based on his policies? Get with the program!!! Reverse racism is alive and well in America. Under Obama’s reign, the economy will rebound, our troops will come home, and we will estabilish strong ties with countries who are now our enemies. Even those who hate him now will come to love him. He will be loved by people of all nations. These are the signs! He is the ANTICHRIST. Beware!!!

@ april, 40 acres and and a mule, & lovlee

We, the people, are to blame. We voted all these jokers into office only to watch them raid coffers while duping uneducated people into false security. Republicans and Democrats in congress take money from us (taxes) and lobbyists (corporate interests) and the oversight (WE, us) for the past 30 years has dwindled to almost none.

Pres-Elect Obama should not visit GA. Saxby Chambliss, for better or worse, prevents filibuster. Neither congressional party (Repubs or Dems) deserve full control. The congressional parties aren’t owed anything. Service is what they owe all of us.

Derek, you’re off base on this one…it’s the Dems like Barney and Dodd that wanted to GIVE government backed loans to people that couldn’t qualify/afford them, and STILL do!

Just because a person did not vote as you did does not mean that person is a racist. There were all kinds of issues in this Presidential race. The race card banter does not fly anymore as we now have a black man as president.

didn’t feel like wading through the cr@p above, so I’ll just say that I think the real reason Obama won’t come down here is because they don’t think Martin will win. The Dem leaders know that the early voting of the black voters are not near the levels before the general election.

My two cents,

George W. Bush is the guy who laid the burden of debt on our great grandchildren not Barack Obama who hasn’t even been in office yet.

KEEP BELIEVING THAT THE REPUBLICANS HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST AND THAT THEY DO NOTHING WRONG. 8 years of a complete idiot running the country and you wonder why it’s in the condition that it is in. Republicans are so stupid.

If Obama is the Anti-Christ, why should it scare the God-fearing “christian” right? Shouldn’t you all be celebrating the coming of the RAPTURE? The Anti-Christ sets forth the beginning of Armageddon, no? Could it be that you all just wear the “christian” label but are in fact a group of racist, incestuous pedophiles that actually fear the return of Christ? If I knew that my Lord and Savior was on his way I would be over-joyed. You all’s b*** and moaning speaks volumes about your true selves.

GOD BLESS AMERICA. Finally, a Muslim will lead this country and I have GREAT Faith that brother Barack Hussein Obama will treat HIS people right for a change. It is written that Muslims are the true leaders and for that reason America has voted for one of our own.

I am amazed and saddened to read so much hate, slander, and discourse in these comments. Seems as though many just want to blame everyone else for the troubles this nation faces, as well as trash anyone and everyone who does not believe the way they do or support the issues they do. Yes, I supported McCain and Palin because I believe in freedom, capitalism, life (no partial birth abortions), and less government involvement in personal life. Yes, I am a Christian which many of you despise, and I voted by Biblical standards. No stealing (taking from others) and no killing (supporting partial birth abortions as Obama does). Mr. Islam, you are such a sad person. Read your Koran, but know this-only the Bible is the Word of the One True God and only Jesus Christ has risen and will reign for He is the ONLY One that no tomb or grave could contain. Not your prophet or especially the president-elect. Obama needs to stay out of GA for this race.

Where have you been for 8 years? Hiding under a rug no doubt as Bush and his cronies allowed his father’s Saudi friends, the Bin Ladens, to take the only flight allowed to depart on 9/11 after every American flight was grounded, deliberately waited 3 weeks after 9/11 to send troops into Afghanistan (from where Bin lAden and his evil terrorists were based), lied to get us into a war in the wrong country where he gives money hand over fist, to his buddies’ companies - the military security contractors or “mercenaries” as they are better known- who earn upwards of $1000/ day while our brave troops go without ample safety gear and low pay and insufficient VA benefits upon return, while he continued deregulating banks and allowed this mortgage meltdown, gave tons of tax breaks to the wealthiest 1% while the middle class loose jobs and watch their insurance premiums rise and their pensions do down and if that weren’t enough giving bigger handouts to big oil and energy companies. When he wasn’t busy selling Americans safety, well being and prosperity down the river, his staff was committing treason by outing a patriotic American CIA operative, and Karl Rove was ordering the firings of hundreds of US state Prosecutors who didn’t support his biased Republican agenda. Bush came into DC with a massive budget surplus left after years of a prosperous agenda where many Americans were working, buying homes and sending their kids to college. Now, as he’s leaving, we are in 2 wars without an end where, sorry, the “mission” wasn’t accomplished, the economy has collapsed and our grandkids will be paying off Bush’s debts for generations to come. So yes, I think you have turned a blind eye to the fleecing of America.
