Libertarian country in Georgia
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
So where is Libertarian country in Georgia? As a percentage of Tuesday’s vote in the U.S. Senate race, clearly north and western Georgia — old “impeach Earl Warren” territory — is the most fertile ground for the third party.
Statewide, Buckley received 126,003 votes, or 3.4 percent. His top counties were Lumpkin (6.4 percent), White, Haralson, Gilmer, Dawson, Hall, Barrow, Pickens and Cherokee (5.2 percent). As one knowledgeable Republican pointed out, Buckley’s 4,700 votes from Cherokee, assuming they were all taken from GOP incumbent Saxby Chambliss, guaranteed a runoff.
But Cobb County provided more votes (13,022) for Buckley than any other, followed by Gwinnett (11,434) and Fulton (10,755). Which means Chambliss has some ground to make up not just in exurbia, but suburbia as well.
Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr received 28,414 votes, or .7 percent.
Clearly, in the down-ballot Public Service Commission races, voters were more willing to take a chance on a third-party candidate. In the northern district, three-man race for Public Service Commission, Libertarian Brandon Givens received 174,761 votes, or 4.9 percent.
And in the southern district PSC race — in which Republican Doug Everett was the only other candidate — Libertarian John Monds cracked the 1 million-vote mark, with 33 percent of the vote.

The message of Freedom rings true in the hearts and minds of EVERY American.
The 3.5% are just the ones that finally saw through the Democratic-Republican smoke scree.
But yeah, I know I have my work cut out for me down here in SWGA.

Allen Buckley was by far the best man to be Georgia’s Senator. I am proud to have voted for him.

The Monds thing is clearly just people who didn’t want to vote for a Republican and not at all a sign that people support Libertarians.
I mean, I’m sure you get that and that’s why you mention it last, but it had to be said.

To say people vote FOR the Liberitarians is niave. They voted against Republicans, thus the large vote for the PSC Monds. Further, he is Chairman of the NAACP and went all over the State telling people that. He got the votes he did riding Obama, not because he was a Liberitarian.

Georgia election law says the Libertarian Party is automatically on the ballot for statewide offices, but it is not on for district offices and county offices. The Georgia election law is absurd on that point. Obviously a party that polls that many votes for statewide offices ought to be on the ballot for all partisan office. Georgia is one of only two states that says a party may be qualified for the statewide ballot , without being on the ballot for all offices. I hope the Georgia Libertarians ask the Georgia legislature to fix this absurd injustice.

Chris:
Voting for Freedom is NEVER naive.
Voting AGAINST it is.
And when you vote Democratic-Republican, you vote AGAINST Freedom.

Chris is correct. My brother (Dawson Co. Repbulican) says he could not bring himself to vote for Chambliss.
The only question now is how low will Chambliss go. Chambliss and his monied interests will be sure to fund a slime campaign against Martin.
Speaking of slime, check out my Chambliss YouTube videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/OscarLewis

Pay no attention to Chris. He nor the RLC has had any influence whatsoever inside the GOP. All he has accomplished is to be a sock puppet for big government Republicans who stand against everything he claims to support. He is just a disgruntled ex-GA Libertarian whining Bee-aatch. He claims to want to advance liberty but continues to support/endorse big government bureaucrats like John’s opponent in this race. He lacks leadership skills and has lost all credibility. He is just jealous. The only recourse he has left is to roam the net and post excrement like above. It makes him feel relevant. Just smile and nod… he’ll eventually move on.

How come no one is talking about how both Jim and Cambliss are both Sigma Chi’s from UGA at the same time…..
I feel like I am really voting for the same person.
