Obama v. Hank Williams Jr.

At the house Monday evening, Hank Williams Jr. called to urge me to “put country first” — whatta punster — and vote for Republican John McCain.

Being in Cobb County, we may not have been targeted by robo-calls from Democrat Barack Obama. Still, his people filled us in on the thoughts he’s now sending out to friendlier territories.

He’s quite polite. “This race will be close. That’s why I need your vote. Thanks so much. Bye, bye.” It’s the “bye-bye” that gets you.

You should have pointed out that while Obama was very polite, Hank II stooped to name calling (“do nothing Democrats”) and lying (Democrats will raise EVERYBODY’S taxes). He wrote a song for McCain/Palin that is just a bunch of insults for Obama, including a line about “terrorist friends to whom their careers are linked.” Let’s not forget that McCain was one of the Keating Five! Charles Keating’s dirty deals did more damage to this country than all the Weathermen put together.

Brevity key to the situation. Short and sweet without the name calling shows who is the bigger man.

Let’s also remember that John McCain was cleared of all wrong doing in the Keating scandal and fully exonerated…and by Democrats no less!

Lets also remember that Obama was only 8 when Ayers was doing his “terroistic” activites. Decades later he was on a board with the now professor Ayers to help out Chicago Schools along with others and some republicans.

Now I see the sheets coming off in Georgia! What a shame! Like black people are only voting for Obama because he’s black! What about all the years we voted for a white man period? We voted for whom we felt had our BEST INTEREST AT HEART! Either dem or repub.

I’m not surprised by a lot of the comments coming to this forum. Hey DUKE, you fail to realize blacks have been voting for WHITE men all these years because of their platform or because of their allegience to the party! Now because a black man is running it’s only because of RACE! The last time I checked those 70-100k people out at the Obama’s rallies sure weren’t all black! It’s okay when black people are standing behind the WHITE MAN and giving him our support and money. But low and behold you let a qualified(obviously in the eyes of 18 million so far)and there’s smoke in the city.
I guess you can start dusting off your hood and robe! What a shame we should all be one, nevertheless there’s always ONE who shows his TRUE COLORS! SMH

As a McCain voter, even I though the Hank Williams Jr call was funny. I put him on speaker phone so my wife could listen. Afterwards she said, he sounds like the Marshall on Monster Plantation at Six Flags warning us not to go into the Marsh.

Excellent point, karma……I think the majority of black people would vote Obama because they feel that he is the best choice for president as opposed to McCain. And as for myself, I don’t think McCain and definitely not Palin, can relate to anyone else but their base - soccer moms, millionaires with 7 houses, and pit bulls…..

Since Duke can’t seem to figure out how to turn his CAPS LOCK key off, how can you expect him to understand Obama’s popularity among voters of all races? Duke has a very easy answer: black people like Obama because of race. But easy, dumbed-down answers are what the Republicans specialize in.

By Stop Whining!!!

Stop whining! Blacks have never complained or whined all the hundreds of years we voted for white men for president. I get sick of people acting like the world will end if there is a black president. Stop whining and get over yourselves.

While I enjoy Hank Jr’s (& Sr’s) music, he’s wrong on “Juan McAmnasty”. McAmnasty is the flip-side to the Globalist Elite’s controlled coin & “Bacrock Obuma”. Like many (well meaning) “conservatives”, Bocephus has been duped into thinking McAmnasty is a real conservative, when (in fact) he’s a Neocon/RINO who’s a puppet for the Elite!

Get over it or better yet move to Wyoming or Montana and start a whole new community of people who think like you…out in the desert or in the mountains…. somewhere you all can fester in your extreme hatred asnd bigotry. I will pray for you and the few others like you who have prejudice in their veins!!!

On one thing I think we can all agree: THANK GOD TOMORROW ALL OF THIS WILL BE OVER! The endless political ads, the two year long presidential campaign, the untruths being told by both sides. It’s disgusting. The amount of money that has been spent on this election is absolutely obscene and nobody is talking about it. And the most discouraging thing is that no matter what each candidate says, no matter what each party claims, no matter who ultimately gets elected, the everyday lives of most normal Americans will be little affected. When keeping your job at all costs becomes more important than doing your job, then the system is broken. We need term limits and REAL campaign finance reform. Until then, nothing is going to change. As an American, I’m completely discouraged every time I see or hear one of these “public servants.”

What does “country first” mean, anyway?

By mesue

November 4, 2008 10:46 AM | Link to this

Only one thing to think about and this is fact. Every Black that has gone on to rule any country has proceeded to turn that country into a “Third World Country”. Look at what we have to look forward to. The City of Atlanta and Clayton County should be good enough examples for all of us to see what the United States will become if Obama is elected. This is one AA that says NOBAMA.

By PatriotinLoganville

November 4, 2008 10:51 AM | Link to this

It is about time that the people of this country unite and forget the he said she said of the political parties. We need to move forward and work for the betterment of our country and to repair the damages that have been done in the past few years. Who cares what color, what religion, or what sex a candidate is.. As long as he/she is competent, reliable, honest and the best person for the job. I am definately a middle aged person and all I want to see is my family and friends live in a free country and be able to be comfortable with their lives, with good jobs and healthcare. Until this country wakes up and smells the roses we will continue in the mess we are in.

By mesue

November 4, 2008 11:02 AM | Link to this

OK then, not only Atlanta and Clayton County. How about, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington D.C., and the list goes on and on. Each one has gone down after being run by an AA. NOBAMA

That’s good to know, Duke, that you use ALL CAPS to drive your readers crazy. That’s the best way to frame an argument, you know, willfully annoying those you’re addressing. Actually, it doesn’t really “drive me crazy,” but it does indicate that you have a very unusual approach to communication. You claim that you’re not “dumb,” but then again, I never accused you of being dumb. Your POINTS are dumbed-down and simplistic, but you yourself are the brightest bulb on the porch. Sorry if you misread my intentions.

Nah, All Caps is the sign of a raving crank you can safely scroll past.

Get used to it, right wing! You can keep raving and fuming all you like—it’ll be a free country once the liberals are in charge again—but nobody’s gonna be listening to you any more.

N. Orleans was way screwed up before any African-Americans were able to serve. Atlanta is consistently rated among the best places in the country to live. Nelson Mandela straightened out the mess White people made of South Africa. Many American cities and states have had very successful African-American leadership. So, you are wrong. Since your premise is incorrect, your conclusion cannot be trusted.

If Obama were president of Halloween he would take candy from all the trick or treaters and give it to all of the other LAZY ones who sat at home to sorry to get out and get there own. NOBAMA.

That’s quite an interesting hypothetical comparison Matt. But I’ll play. If McCain were president of Halloween (whatever that means), he’d dole out pictures of candy and then charge you to get back in your own home.

What I find most appalling right now is the lack of intelligence displayed by so many otherwise intelligent people regarding Barack Obama. Fine, disagree with his politics. Consider his ideals/ideas more left than you are comfortable with; that’s ok. What has become the saddest thing is how quickly and steadfastly white opponents to Obama as President have clung to rumors, lies, and misconceptions. He is a viable candidate who is a black man, plain and simple. The whole of black America didn’t get behind Jesse Jackson, as significant to the black community he has been. And so what? There are whites who have publicly stated that they couldn’t vote for Obama because he is black. I think it helps those who oppose Obama sleep better to assume his race is the only factor in black community since his race is the only motivation for said opponents to not support him (please make note of the huge assumption).

The comments that Blacks voted for Obama simply because he’s black is an attempt to once again make trivial or banal anything blacks achieve or do. THE REASON BLACKS VOTED FOR OBAMA IS BECAUSE HE IS A DEMOCRAT THAT HAPPENS TO BE BLACK!! If he were a Republican and black, he would not have received upward of 90% of the black vote. As you may recall, 90% (give or take) of blacks voted for Kerry, Gore, Clinton, etc… If your premise was true that blacks voted for Obama simply because he is black then Blacks would have supported Clarence Thomas nomination to the Supreme Court without hesitation and we all know that didn’t happen. WHITE AMERICA, PLEASE WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN BACK YARDS AND LET US VOTE FOR WHOM WE CHOOSE TO EVEN IF THE SOLE REASON IS BECAUSE HE IS BLACK!!

JUST HOW STUPID can McCain be????

Having Hank Williams Jr at the Republican Party Festivities shows just how COMPLETELY OUT OF TOUCH Republicans (and McCain) are with America.

Hank Williams Jr at the Republican “rally” is just as stupid if Obama would have had Snoop, Ice-Cube or Ice-T show up for his rally.

JUST PLAIN STUPID on McCain’s Part.

(by the way, I LIKE the Music of all the aforementioned—-however NONE of them represent “average” America).

Thank GOD Obama is smart enough to know that!!!
