Republican group brings out the Rev. Jeremiah Wright

In the final 48 hours of the race, a Republican group has decided to do what John McCain wouldn’t — bring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor of Barack Obama, into the presidential campaign.

The ad below, sponsored by the National Republican Trust PAC, just ran on CNN two or three minutes ago:

Here’s the script:

For 20 years Barack Obama followed a preacher of hate and said nothing is Wright raged against our country.

[Clip of Rev. Wright:] “Not God Bless America, God Damn America … US of KKKA!”

[Quote of Obama appears on screen:] “I don’t think my church is particularly controversial.”

He built his power base in Wright’s church.

Wright was his mentor, adviser and close friend.

For 20 years Obama never complained until he ran for President.

Barack Obama. Too radical. Too risky.

‘I Didn’t Vote For Obama’

‘I Didn’t Vote For Obama’ by Kentucky Scott

I’m a middle-class white guy living in Jacksonville , Florida . I’ve got a wife and two kids. Because the kids had no school today, I took a vacation day from work, and took the kids downtown to vote early. Fifty-nine minutes later, two smiling children and I proudly sported ‘I Voted’ stickers.
But I didn’t vote for Obama.

I voted for my ancestors, who believed in the promise of this country and came with nothing as immigrants. I voted for my parents, who taught in the public schools for decades. I voted for Steve, an acquaintance of mine from Kentucky . (Killed by an IED two years ago in Iraq ). I voted for Shawn, another who’s been to Iraq twice, and Afghanistan once, and who’ll be going back to Afghanistan again soon — and whose family earned eleven bucks a month too much to qualify for food stamps when the war started. I voted for April, the only African-American girl in my high school — it was years before it occurred to me how different her experience of our school must have been. I voted for my college friends who are Christian, Jewish, Mormon, and yes — Muslim. I voted for my grandfathers, who worked hard in factories and died too young. I voted for the plumber who worked on my house, because I want him to get a REAL tax break. I voted for four little angels from Birmingham . I voted for a bunch of dead white men who, although personally flawed, were willing to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor, and used a time of great crisis to expand freedom rather than suspend it. I voted for all those people and more, and I voted for all of you, too.

But mostly, I voted selfishly: I voted for two little kids, one who has ballet in an hour, and one who has baseball practice at the same time. I voted for a world where they can be confident that their government will represent the best that is in this country, and that will in turn demand the best of them.
I voted for a government that will be respected in the world. I voted for an economy that will reward work above guile. I voted for everything I believe in. Sure, I filled in the circle next to the name Obama, but it wasn’t him I was voting for — it was every single one of us, and those I love most of all.’

I wonder how many people who attend church on a regular basis agree with everything their pastor says, and if they happen to disagree do they go to the pastor and say so? Do they publicly denounce that pastor? Do they find another church to attend? Do they do anything at all, or nothing?

Who agrees 100% with everything any one person says?

Nice try, GOP. Hope you got plenty of kleenex ready for Tuesday night/Wednesday ALL DAY.

I think the GOP is nervous and knows this is the end. One last attempt to change the minds of voters with fear will not work. Fear got us in the war and voting against fear will take us out of it.

So, in response to the fact that launching attacks on Obama has failed as a campaign strategy…

They respond by resurrecting OLD attacks that have already failed. They really can’t come up with any positive reason to vote for their guy, can they?

PUMA for McCain/Palin and The Constitution — done deal — convinced many others.

It’s the perfidious company zerObama keeps.

Ayers, Dohrn, Farrakhan, Wright, Pfleger, Caldwell, McClurken, Daley, Lippert, …, Rezko, Blagojevich, Auchi, Al Monsour, Khalidi, Johnson, Raines, Odinga, Pritzker, Groelich, Axelrod, Gibbs, Dunn, (Susan)Rice, …, Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Hoyer, Reid, Frank, Schumer, Brazille, Dean, Powell, McClellan, Olbermann, Maddow, ….

Traitors, Terrorists, Racists, Misogynists, Elitists, Miscreants, Fear-mongers, Thugs, and Worse.

I suppose that kills my chances for getting into zerObama’s Civilian National Security Force.

if my pastor had said the things that Wright said, I wouldn’t’ve lasted in his church for 20 minutes, let alone 20 years. The only reason Obama went to that church is because it got him enshrined in the Cook County politics that he needed to get in good with if he ever wanted to succeed. As someone who is actually FROM Illinois and has seen what “good” comes out of Chicago, that’s all I need to know to NOT vote for Obama. I could never vote for someone who is such an active part of that cycle of corruption. He didn’t stand up to them just like he didn’t stand up to Wright, so why should I believe that he’s going to stand up to anyone else?

While I may not agree with everything my pastor says, I would not stay 2 months (much less 20 years!) in my church if my pastor was as anti-American and racist as Jeremiah Wright.

I learned of Obama’s connection to Wright months ago and it’s only by misguided sense of ‘fairness’ that McCain chose to ignore it. (Obama has tried to play the race card against McCain anyway, so…?) The fact that Obama embraced Wright’s church and the Black Liberation Theology they espouse was my first clue that he was a quasi-socialist and more than enough reason to dismiss him right then and there. Everything he’s done and said in the meantime has only served to illuminate that further.

None of this has anything to do with the question of which candidate would make the best decisions for the country over the next four years. If you think what a preacher says helps you decide that fact, then great, go spend the next 24 hours looking up McCain’s association with Charles Keating.

Come on people. Get serious. This is not a game.

Not true, American born black people are racist too. Its okay for blacks to be racist and HATE whites. But not okay the other way around. Its pretty sad blacks are voting for this man simply b/c of his skin color. When they have no idea he’s the ANTICHRIST.

People actually born in Africa hate how blacks in America call themselves “African-Americans”. Thats only their descent. I guess I’ll start calling myself a European American.

When does one man speak for another. You crazy people need to just get with the program and vote for the best man for the job. Rev. Wright is not running for president. It is indeed interesting to see Tom admit that black people are racist. How nice of him to help them out. And I think Tom would be more than willing, out of the goodness of his heart, to admit for them that they aren’t as good as other people and that they can only support Mr. Obama because of his skin color and that his intelligence and charisma have nothing to do with it. That’s cool. This is why Obama opted out of public financing. He knew they would go for the LOW BLOW (They ALWAYS blow low!) This from a party that advocates beating innocent people to death. That’s cool. Not to forget that President Obama will have the same powers as bush: Arrest people on thin charges of “terrorism” (domestic?), holding them without legal representation, or trial. This could end up being a nasty, cruel four years for some.

If Obama had pounced on McCain for his cowardly acts of making 32 tv ads in the Hanoi prision denouncing the USA, and had McCain’s real military record of how he was responsible for the death of 169 sailors on the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier (do a search: “John McCain*USS Forrest”) and if Obama pushed the fact the McCain was know as the “Song Bird” of Hotel Hanoi you would not cast your vote for him. Once again, the thinly veiled racism and not so hidden ignorance of the Fox News Kool-Aid drinkers is published in the comments here for all to see.

I voted Obama, because I am tired of the Republican Party trying to scare me, and the rest of America, into voting for four more years of their failed policies.

Some here earlier got it right: come on people… it’s time to use some critical thinking skills. This is not a game. If the Reverend Wright scares you away from Obama, than so be it. But I respectfully submit that you are basing your vote on something that has almost nothing to do with the real issues.

Okay, so it’s only okay for whites to vote whites and as soon as a verifiable candidate (who happens to be black) comes along, now blacks are racist for putting in their vote for Obama. I’m sorry, blacks have had only white candidates to vote for before. So is it unreasonable to expect that someone that resembles black folks (for the first time in history) will support Obama? I really don’t want to hear your white racist crap. Those that voted for Bush were the mains ones complaining about his mismanagement in the White House (he’s white in case you haven’t noticed). Give me a break! Republicans will always have this country in a recession—last time I remember when Clinton was in the White House we had a surplus and a good bit of jobs available. Vote Republican! Because not everyone can be on welfare!

People, the more you tax the rich, the more they are going to lower wages, fire people, and ship jobs overseas.

Two questions: do you work for a rich person or for a poor person?

Is it truly possible to live off minimum wage?

No one can do it on minimum wage, and the people you work for, your company owners, they are rich. They will get back the money their losing on the higher taxes by firing you and paying people less. If that’s not enough-Hello India!

Vote against Obama-it’s the AMERICAN thing to do!

That’s the most unChristian thing I’ve ever heard. I’m apalled that any pastor would say that. Doesn’t matter if the pastor is black or white or red or yellow or purple.

You can’t tell me if your pastor said that, you’d ever go back to that church, can you?

Obama is a smart guy, but he’s a career politician. His #1 priority Wednesday morning will be to figure out how to get reelected in 2012. This will prevent him from taking this country to the extreme Left like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want to do.

Let’s get real here, Obama is clearly the better choice, he is intelligent, level-headed and passionate about turning this country around.

on experience john mccain has had 26 years as a senator and this country is in a shambles, uh-huh that’s what experience gets us. And by that token, one is not more experience over the other.

I see hope and change and peaceful times ahead with Obama, he understands what it take to make this country and he surrounds himself with people who want to change it too. mccain’s whole campaign has been as ludicrous as george bush’s 8 years as president. he can’t run a successful campaign how can he run this country.

the people who vote for Obama because he is black, WHILE I THINK THAT THIS IS NOT A WELL INFORMED WAY TO VOTE, I also say why not. a black man is stopped if he is driving a nice car, just because he is black, he is kept from the good jobs just because he black, so why not vote Obama, because he is black, but more importantly because he stands for all Americans.

Now Jeremiah Wright. He is not a racist. He spoke fact. He did not say he hated this country, he said that those who are in charge “rich white america” ( is it not true that they are who run this country?),has made this country a target for the crimes that they have committed against others. This is not hate this is the reality. Every action causes a reaction.

The thing everyone needs to realize is that you can love this country and can criticize and recognize its faults so that they can be corrected. It is the only way to achieving the true greatness of this country.

Until there is a least tolerance of other races cultures and ethnicities that creates divisiveness, this country will continue to f lander.

This ad will make no difference those who are committed to change and who have hope for a better future, and see’s Obama as the instrument of this change and new future.

Those who never intended to vote for Obama will have more MISINFORMATION to confirm their decision to vote mccain.

SOMEONE is going to have to pay for his share-the-wealth crap, and it’s going to be those of us that actually WORK for a living instead of living off the government aid, which is supposed to be TEMPORARY help, not a way of life. I am so sick of hearing about “Bush Economics.” The Democrats have controlled the house for the past four years or so. Research “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 2005” and find out about Alan Greenspan’s warning, the fight to regulations to oversee both and then how the DEMOCRATS voted unanimously along party lines to kill the bill. We all know what happened because of that. A president does not have the power to control everything that happens in the US. Not once did Obama attack the character of our so called “war hero”! He has ran his campaign with class and he will run this country the same way….not by creating false enemies creating a war, stealing two elections all the while lining his pockets to no end. Get over it, we had to after being cheated of our rights for the past 8 years! Why can’t you people just embrace a great man who who will be a great preisident and do what’s right for ALL americans……even the one’s who hate him and wish he we’re dead!!!! To puzzled, you need to get unscrambled. But then again you are use to the government taking care of you. With Obama in office he will be taking from the hard working people and giving it to those that lay around all day having babies.

Alot of you are stating that individuals are voting for Barack because they want have to to work & stay on welfare if he’s in office; Barack stated he would tax individuals more if you made over $250,000. Tbe averageAmerican doesnot make over $250,000. I’m one of them, I make about $65K-$75K a year; I’m not on welfare nor do I get gov’t assistance. So please tell me,why am I considered lazy because I don’t make $250,000 a year?

I was going to vote for Barack Obama until I saw this ad. Why wasnt this mentioned on TV before? It has swayed me to vote against him because I really think that someone would recognize the hate in Wright’s sermons.

George, ppplease!!!! You were never going to vote for Mr Barack anyway. I am so sick of of the antics that Mr . Barack is a terrorist and a socialist. You guy are just trying to find a reason not to vote for him and smear his character.

Mccain’s pals Phil Gramm and Keating did ore damage to American than rev. Wright could ever do. I understand if some people find Rev. Wright offensive. But the truth is white racism was once the policy of this great nation, even in Wright’s lifetime. Of course America would produce a few nutcases- or preachers who surrender to frustration in moments of weakness. Obama has proved he can listen to radical points of view. He wants to “talk” a wide variety of views. But my point is, if Wright was so racist over 20 years why is it just this one tape of him all the conservatives have found? What about the other 19-plus years of sermons Wright gave. Maybe he had 19 years of decent sermons and one day of a bad sermon and he’s being measure by his worse.

If Wright had been saying these things for 20 years, you’d think soomeone would be able to come up with a second clip, not just this one, which they run over and over…and over…and over. He flipped out one time. Give it up, republicans.

“Can any McCain supporter list 5 reasons why we should vote for him without mentioning Obama’s name.”

Can any Obama supporter name 5 legislative accomplishments of his? (Yeah, you’ve heard this one before, but I still haven’t heard a decent answer.)

Simply being a lawyer or Senator doesn’t count. There are 99 other Senators (McCain is one) and there are bajillions of lawyers, most of whom I wouldn’t let babysit my kid.

The Obama camp has released several promises on the income cap.

  • The only increases will be for taxpayers making over $250k(not sure if this is family income or individual) and the rest (95% by the claim which we know is impossible) will receive a tax cut.

  • Taxpayers making over $250k will pay more taxes, so rebate checks can be issued to those making less. (so people that choose not to work will get a check?).

  • Taxpayers earning more than $200k (guess inflation reduced projected salaries) will see the tax breaks issued by Bush removed and all other taxpayers will not see any increase (whoa, what happen to the tax break or incentive?).

  • Taxpayers making over $150k (there goes inflation again) will see tax increases because of the removal of previous tax breaks. Others will see will see either no increase or a tax break.

  • There may be other proposals, but that is what I have heard so far. Obama is not a bad person in my opinion, but unlike his claims to be different from other candidates and to bring a change to Washington. It seems to be the same flip-flop politican that will answer to the audience they are speaking instead of offering the same answer always.

But honestly I’m wasting my time posting as I’m sure 95% or more of you are. I have already voted and made my decision so nothing said will change that and I’m sure most of you have decided or voted already and nothing will change your mind.

    My 5 reasons for McCain.

  • He is anti-abortion

  • He saw the housing financial crisis 2 years ago and no one would listen.

  • He beleives in the right to bear arms.

  • He beleives leaving before the job is done, is a failed job and a lost of lives for nothing. In other words, Iraq may have been a mistake, but we will be failures to just leave.

  • He honestly beleives and has demonstrated in the past that when it comes to doing what is right for America there are no party lines and every elected official needs to sit down and plan the best course of action. Even if this tees off those of your own political party.

  • His running mate is a babe. You ever heard of a trophy wife, why not a trophy VP. (okay I threw that one in as a joke)

I would like to see the AJC and the group showing the commercial do a story on the acts of violence committed during slavery and the civil rights movement. Are the words of Rev Wright more vicious than the acts of hatred?

  • Hanging men from trees in front of their wives and children.

  • Killing a 12 year boy because someone said he whistled at a white lady. That mother never got see her son a grown man.

  • Killing a man in the driveway of his home because registered black Americans to vote. He never was given the chance to see his children grow in to adulthood.

  • All Rev. Wright said was words of his opionion. Nobody left the church and caused bodily harm to another member of the American society. That is called freedom of speech which leads to freedom of your own interpretation.

We all can read words and interpret how they make us feel. But you can not replace a family member or love one after someone has committed an act of violence.

Let’s start talking about the real reasons why Rev. Wright speaks the way he speaks. Let’s start where it began.

Amazing- in America African Americans, counted as less than human for 400 years, held back from even sitting next to a white person eating while nursing that same person’s children, and cleaning their toilets are never to feel anger, express anger, appear angry, even if torn apart by dogs, sprayed by water until you can no longer stand, jailed, hanged and beaten for even looking too long at whites … no we are supposed to smile, feel gratitude that you’re now allowing us to work or go to school with you. You can’t forget the Civil War but we’re supposed to forget everything that has ever happened, never speak of it unless we are saying how wonderful you have been to allow us to breath your air… and now, we cannot even sit in a pew and listen to truth as apart of our purging of the fear and anger built into our psyches. Yes, we understand. You saints wouldn’t dare utter these harsh words about this country… and why would you… hey, after all, you in the last few years actually gathered at picnics to see us burned and hung and then had the loving nature to send postcards around the world to share in your great joy. Sure, we are the ones in the wrong. Reverend Wright is the evil one… for even mentioning all that has happened. Tell me, what is it that he has said is a lie… just you name it?

On Rev. Wright’s behalf, on my mother, father, my grandparents, my ancestors, and on the spirit of all my living and non living relatives I send you my love…. I’m sure you can understand that. We people in this country have spent all our anger in attacking ourselves to help you feel better about who you are… and I bow to you now that if that is God’s will, let it be done… but if by grace we are given the opportunity to see the force of change in this society, I give you my heart, my love. For the one thing I know to be true, we are all one people whether you know it or not. Either the anger will eat us alive or it will continue to fester into our world… if I were you, and I’m not, as a descendant of a slave, I would give thanks to the almight that all the Rev. Wrights of the world do nothing more than talk about what you’ve done. May the Lord Bless us all with PEACE!

    Ok enough dem/rep stuff.

American people. I would think that there would be some concern over the fact that a man (Obama) can actually get as far as he has without proving his citizenship with a birth certificate. Dont you know the ramifications if he indeed is elected to the office and is indeed born outside of this country. How about all you Hillary supporters, how would you feel. And again how would you feel knowing that you put your faith and trust into a man who told you what you wanted to hear just to take over this country. And you fell for it.

Now Im not saying he is or is not a US born citizen, All I am saying is there is no reason on this earth to support the fact that he has stood in the face of the American people and outright RUFUSED to show a certified copy of his birth certificate. How many of you cant put your fingers on a official birth certificate. Not a certificat of birth, they are two seperate things. Call and get both a certificate of birth and a birth certificate. One is official with emboded state seal of birth, the other is stamped with the pickup date.

Now how many of you want to at the end of the day think and know that you voted for someone, gave money to someone, or put time in to campain for someone not a citizen and he knew it the whole time. How many of you will be happy about that.

I dont really care about this election, but I do care about America. I do care about our future as a free nation, I do care that our hard work gives US the wage earner a better life and that its not taken from us to provide for the unwilling. I do care that my kids and grandkids grow up in a nation who cares about democracy and freedoms for people that cant fight for it on its own right. I do care that if Obama is not a US Citizen then Hillary should have been on the ticket. I do care that someone who is not a proven US Born Citizen and officially certified to be the President can take over this country and I do care about the integrety of the Democrates that pushed him up the ladder and supported him. I care and wonder about their desire for a great America.

Now like I said, I dont care who wins, I dont think the most qualified are running for office. But that said, I care about America and its values and I dont care if your republican or democrate, I would certainely hope you would all care about America too.

Stop fighting, McCain, Obama. There all political and will say anything to get elected. Its a movie, rehearsed, staged. The motives are all the same, get taxes, increase spending. One candidate is better then the other sure. One is telling you what you want to hear. Sure. The media however did not tell the truth and they from the start endorced Obama. So most of us never got to hear the truth. Only slams about McCain. Obama is the golden child, well I doubt that. We will never know though because the media has a hold and the belief that we arent smart enough to think for ourselfs. So they limit your knowledge. That in its own right is a shame. It is a true shame.

    God Bless America.

Rev Wright has stated that AIDS was created in a lab of whites and introduced to eliminate the black population. Someone wanted to know what he has said that was not true. I can’t prove that is a lie, but I have a hard time believing it.

I know the past has been filled with hate against the blacks. And the government has gone out of it’s way with entitlment programs, incentives, and quotas to give everyone an equal chance. And like Bill Cosby states, it is time to stop blaming the whites for all of the problems in the black population. The hate that Rev. Wright spews does not make the wrongs of the past go away and goes a long way wrong solving the problems of society today. I am 42 and have grown up listening to sterotype judgments against the blacks and have black friends that tell me of the craziest sterotypes they had toward whites. Funny thing is, I never grew up hating blacks and for the most part they never grew up hating me. But speeches to captive audiences like Rev. Wright spew hatred from both sides and we don’t need that again. And if Obama was more concerned with what was right instead of what he needed to do to get elected State Senator and then U.S. Senator he would have walked out with his family years ago.

no other president has been asked to provide a birth certificate, an official certificate of birth, so why are we requiring Obama to do so? Last time I checked, Hawaii was part of the United States. No one is claiming Obama to be the Messiah (only those that are afraid of the unknown). He is a well educated black man that was raised by his WHITE grandparents, which afforded him the opportunities he otherwise would not have been privy to has his Kenyan ancestors raised him. He probably obtained a scholarship as most educated children do to attend Harvard Law School! He owns 1 home, not 8, he is a Christian, not a Muslim, and even if he was, so what? He attended a Muslim school as a child (that’s what his mother made him do, he was a child, his MOTHER married a muslim) Everyone is harping on Rev. Wright, only tid-bits of the sermon has been played, so you all have no idea what preceded the part that has been played over and over on T.V., and again, those are Rev. Wrigths points of view, and his thoughts. Just because you know/associate with a person doesn’t mean you feel and believe the same things they do. If that were the case, couldn’t we judge ALL White people by the actions of their ancestors (slave masters etc.). Have any of you denounced your family members? Disassociated yourselves with them, Certainly not, because you may or may not agree with everything they say, but they are still your family and at the end of the day, Rev Wright is just a man!!

And by the way, he says he is a Christian, but why do you think he hasn’t changed his name back to Barry?? He didn’t have a problem changing it when he comverted to Musslim.
