A robo-call for Chambliss from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

You knew that the nominally non-partisan U.S. Chamber of Commerce had entered the fray to keep Democrats from reaching the 60-seat mark in the U.S. Senate.

The business group has taken its cause to Georgia this week, with a robo-call on behalf of Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss.

Click here to listen, but here’s part of the text:

”We all know that health care is vital. As our senator, Saxby Chambliss is helping Georgia families live longer, healthier lives. Chambliss supports health care tax credits to help us pay our bills. And Saxby Chambliss opposes government-mandated health care.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Chambliss, but the automated message skirts the actual definition of a political ad, presumably to preserve the tax status of the fund that’s paying for the call. The robo-call does not ask recipients to vote for Chambliss — but simply asks them ad to call Chambliss’ office and thank him for doing a fine job.

Funny thing about these ads. When the intention is to boost the guy, calls are directed to a district office, where they won’t disrupt the daily flow. When the purpose is to give him hell, the congressional number given is always to the Washington office.

Desperation. Panic.

That’s right, conservatives: fall apart. So Obama waltzes in and then washes you out?

Walk softly, boys.

The fat cats are paying Chamliss back for championing their interest the last six years.

Georgia’s middle class electorate finally see the light and is poised to elect a candidate who will advocate for their interests.

Chambliss did very little for Georgia’s middle class when his part dominated the Senate and for sure he won’t be able to do anything for Georgia in a Democrat dominated Senate.

What would an Obama presidency be remembered for:

A. Gross Incompetence B. Rampant Corruption C. All of the Above

Big Business loves Sissy Saxby - Wall Street bailout, pork barrell farm bill, amnesty for cheap illegal workers.

Hey what’s up with the robocall from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce urging me to vote for Saxby Chambliss because of his “health care plan.” What in the world does the Chamber of Commerce have to do with health care? Aren’t they a non-profit organization and supposed to stay out of politics? This sucks.

If Martin wins, the Democrats are still highly unlikely to have 60 votes. What is certain, though, is that Georgia will have a Senator in the Majority who can do something for the regular people of the state, not just for corporate America.

I for one have left, or it has left me, the republican party. From choosing a dagerously unfit VP to Saxbys ads which got him in in the first pace I have had a lot of doubts. Now add on the dysfunctional campaign and bring it round to thsse disgusting Dole ads. I don’t know who or what this republican party thinks it stands for but it sure as heck isn’t me or anything I understand or like anymore. I won’t take it anymore. No excuses, no its just politics. It isn’t. I voted early. I am proud to say I voted for reasonable attitudes, reasonable behavior, reasonable answers. I stand a republican since RR saying I am proud of this vote. I thought for myself, and i am proud of this vote for Obama, for almost all Democrats running, for a reasoning America.

I don’t want any of these groups making ads for or against any candidate. They should stay neutral and endorse no one. The U.S. Chamber of Commerse is too big to play in this ditry game.
