Hmm. Cops in Augusta area gear up for Election Day — with riot training
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
This from today’s Augusta Chronicle:
Deputies in Richmond and Columbia counties are preparing for any civil unrest or overexuberant celebrating that might take place after next week’s presidential election, officials confirmed Monday.
Although they were quick to say that no problems are anticipated, authorities said as many as 60 deputies will undergo an eight-hour training course Thursday — learning crowd control and disbursement techniques.
Richmond County sheriff’s Col. Gary Powell said the department will not have deputies stationed at local polling centers Nov. 4, but they will be ready to respond if necessary.
“We just want to be prepared in case something does happen, but I don’t really anticipate something here,” Col. Powell said.
Since shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, the department has issued road patrol deputies riot gear, including gas masks, but most have not undergone “formalized training,” Col. Powell said.

I am sure we will have “celebrations” or “riots” throughout America when the votes for president is counted. Black America is so sure of a win if it does not come they will be sure it was because of voter fraud. And if victory does come this group will take to the streets in happiness. Of course, as in all other situations, there is a group ready to go out and kill and steal at any opportunity because that is how they live. Angola will need to wait a while for some….civilization must come first.

First of all, “thugs” who shoot up homes do so not out of random reasons, but because of some stupid drug or criminal issue. Crime perpetrated by black folks the majority of the time is black on black crime, so white folks, quit your silly worrying about black people coming out to kill you because we are supposedly so freakin’ angry! (and as wild as Freaknik was, it was hardly about black people robbing and thieving as some narrow-minded idiots want you to believe!) It’s all closed minded and stupid, people!
Black people are not going to riot anymore than white people are. White people always tend to be so scared of people they know NOTHING about!! Stop watching television news, which makes it seem like Atlanta is some 24/7 shootout, and get out of the freakin’ Northside and actually get to know more black folks than the ones you work with and see that most are just as American and law-biding as you!
Geez!

I remember the Rodney King riots. The rioters did $2100 worth of damage to my car as I was stuck on Mitchell Street. I’m lucky that I escaped physically unharmed, but mentally bruised. I can only imagine what will happen Tuesday evening - all I know is I’m going to stay home and not venture out. Armageddon is upon us. No, I’m not racist. Just a realist.

Denise’ You are correct, 90% of people in this country are stupid and you might be one of them. Black and White will always be around as long as BOTH sides of this continue with their stupidity. Can you honestly say that if Obama does not win, that side will act in an orderly way? Will that side accept defeat? If Obama wins, will the excitement turn into full scale riots? Will this victory be celebrated like a World Series or Super Bowl win? Denise, have you ever seen celebrations when cities win a major sporting event? The question is whether people can conduct themselves in an orderly fashion. Fashion that is sometimes Black and White. Unfortunately we live in a society that must be prepared for any and all that may come from such an event. No matter if it is Black or White. History and the people of this “idiotic” Black and White country have taught us this.

Sorry it will take more then the threat of violence to keep me from voting. Iraqis went to the polls in the face of real threats like IED’s and bullets. The great unspoken is that based on past behavior we must prepare for any sort of act, celebration or anguish, in certain areas and that of course would be areas populated with predominately liberal leaning people. When was the last time you heard of people from a conservative viewpoint stage any sort of attention grabbing event. Guess that is why they are called conservatives. In the Army we had a saying, Plan for the worst, Pray for the best, and Accept something in between. Stay out of the politically blue areas and you won’t have any problem.

@ Cecil Phudpucker — you’re not the only one making these type of disparate connections.
Without the full story, and with inconsistencies and omissions in the reports, you are making four bogus claims in one:
(1) I am not a big fan of Neal Boortz, but I can not imagine how he can be accused of inciting skinheads to do anything. Cite somethings of his specifically.
(2) I am not a ‘skinhead’ or a ‘sharp’, and I doubt I would be accepted as one under any circumstances. It is wrong to think they all are who you imagine. I suggest starting with learning about ‘sharp’ and working your way back through ‘skinhead’, before branding them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkinheadsAgainstRacial_Prejudice
They are not Ayers-Dohrn-Farrahkan with shaved heads and leather — now, there are terrorists.
(3) Who do you really think is more likely to riot in the event of an Obama loss? Based on the thuggish, misogynistic, racist behavior of the Democratic Party, from top to bottom, I would say Obamaniacs.
(4) Read the reports of the alleged plot more carefully. It seems these guys (possible terrorists, but ….) had a four or five step plan, but the official statement is that they hadn’t reached step zero. It also seems that they were planning to break into places, but there is no mention of specific charges in the list of accusations. There are a lot other inconsistencies in the official statements. Keep your bllsht meters turned on.
Therefore I’ll make my own disparate connection that might have more credibility than your leap of imagination.
The arrests happened a week ago, but the reports are just now being released?
This may be a ‘tail wagging the puppy’ story, as Biden’s bumbling ‘international incident testing zer0’ and ‘reaction will confuse us’ was a ‘tail wagging the dog’.
Consider the timing with regard to recent events: Polls showing a drift toward McC-P. New revelations of Obama on tape on different occasions (‘sharing wealth’, in the company of anti-semites, …). Credible analyses of bogus tax breaks for the masses. ACORN transgressions. Etc.

I can’t believe I”m reading this!!! Talk about racial profiling!!! Did they prepare with riot gear during the 2000 election when the presidency was stolen from Al Gore. As an African-American woman, I myself am tired of our population being “13% of the population and 90% of the problem”, but this takes the cake! Can they at least humor us and conduct their training in secret. But to come right out and infer that since there is a black man running for president all us “colored folk will have us an uprising” is a grand hot mess. Shame on Augusta for doing this, shame on AJC for reporting it.
I’m over the plantation thinking still rampant here in Georgia and am on my way back to Cali.

It’s not racial profiling it’s called the truth! You can label it all you want, you can say it’s not politically correct, you can cry about it till you are blue in the face. But facts are facts, the fact is 86% of prison inmates are African American, the facts are that the highest amount of crime in america is black on black and the fact is in cases of the Rodney King and OJ Simpson, African Americans have had a past of street protesting and violence. Do we not remember Hurricane Katrina? a natural disaster strikes and there is looting in empty stores, robbery and cases of murder and rape in the Superdome where 99% of the people housed were African American. The city of Augusta is using the past to premonition for the next week ahead. it’s not ludacris it’s reality. Obama is in ahead in the polls, and if he is to lose it will be one more case of african americans crying that something was taken from them by “whitey”. the African American community has cried for the last 200 years that things are not fair for them despite actions such as the afro-american college fund, black universities, the welfare system, free public schools, minority grants, government housing, affirmitive action, FCRA, CRA, and other bank lending policies. The world isn’t fair but it isn’t fair for EVERYONE!!! Get to know the facts! This isn’t racism, heck if we wanted to talk racism we could bring up that 96% of arican americans are voting for obama, how is that not racism? how is it not racsim that certain african americans like the founders of theroot.com are now ostracized for being republicans?
When people comment on here that it is ludacris for a city to prepare for rioting when a minority has a history of it and the fact that this election is monumental for that minorty, they have to be out of their minds to believe that anything less than precautionary measures should be taken.

@ Copyleft — please revisit my post.
I was not arguing for a particular point. Rather, I was asking about the disparate connections in this blog exchange.
I also said more information is required for the digression about the assassination attempt (they may be at least as “hapless” as Gail Collins, NYT, described the SDS and Ayers-Dohrn — gag me with a spoon!).
Finally, I am not prepared to brand all skinheads with a particular characterization, and provided a link that you might want to follow.
Blog theme: “Cops in Augusta gear up….”
Phudpucker: “Neil Boortz incite[s]….”
Phudpucker: “‘skinheads’ … assassination” (and implication they are all racists — cf. ‘SHARP’).
By the way, ‘Tennessee Tuxedo’ assassins were what Phudpucker was referring to.
Then, for the purpose of demonstration, I made an admittedly ‘disparate connection’ that contained the elements already in play with some additional elements for which we do have evidence.

It’s amazing how whites dismiss racism as mostly isolated incidents and a thing of the past, until Obama emerges as the presidential front-runner. Now “joe six pack” has blatantly shed his sheep’s clothing. It’s White America’s sense of entitlement that divides this country the most and this election has been proof positive of that fact. What truly worries me is that, no matter what happens, one side is in for a surprise.
Now that people are getting their own (biased) information from preferred sources (whether it be Fox News or NPR), somebody’s going to be in for a shock come election day.
That’s what truly concerns me, the continued fragmentation of information in our society. We no longer ask ourselves to consider inconvenient or unpleasant realities.
If you don’t like the reporting being offered, simply brand the media as “biased” and find another source of information that confirms what you already believe…
How will we ever hope to be enlightened if we quickly and simply dismiss people who say things we don’t like?
