‘The country I grew up in will be no more’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Efforts to rally the Republican base, even in the face of daunting news from polls, continued this weekend in Georgia. Sadie Fields, chairman of the Georgia Christian Alliance, sent out a passionate plea — which she urged conservative Christians to print out and distribute at church today.
It includes this line: “Combine a President Obama, a Democrat-controlled Congress, and appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court — the country I grew up in will be no more.”
Read her entire message on the jump, and discuss.

The fervor of many and the rush to elect a man who has little to recommend him to the highest office in this country is beyond my understanding. Why would anyone — especially those who classify themselves as Christian conservatives —or just conservative - would vote for a candidate who:
— Opposes strict constructionist judges for U. S. Supreme Court;
— Would repeal laws against abortion; (Obama voted more than once while serving in the IL State Senate to deny babies medical care born-alive after a botched abortion):
— Opposes a Constitutional amendment to prohibit same sex marriage;
— Opposes voluntary prayer in schools;
— Supports raising taxes on those who are productive - to give to those who are not;
— Opposes drilling on the continental shelf;
— Supports civil (not military) trials for terrorists.
While we have failed in many ways to preserve the vision of our Founders, if Obama is elected their vision of this wonderful “experiment in ordered liberty” will truly disappear. He will be aided and abetted in his pursuit of socialism by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, William Ayers - an unrepentant terrorist - and Pastor Jeremiah Wright - a blatant racist who said from his pulpit “God d_ America.”
America will go the way of other once-great countries - and what was the most wonderful “experiment in ordered liberty,” the world has ever seen - will become just another country that winds up on the “ash heap of history.”
If Obama wins the Democrats will be in control of all three chambers. There will be no “check and balance” as the Founders intended. Obama and others he will put in positions of power will bring about a liberal tsunami that will sweep this nation clean of any pretense of a free and sovereign nation. The dream of many Americans to make their lives better through hard work and perseverance will be just that - a dream.
The damage done under an Obama regime will be undoable in years to come.
Combine a President Obama, a Democrat-controlled Congress, and appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court — the country I grew up in will be no more.
Redistribution of the wealth, same sex marriage, universal health care, gun control, and every other off-the-wall, socialistic idea will become reality.
Obama and his liberal elite friends will wreak havoc on this country.
Over the last several decades, the U. S. Supreme Court - the “black robed masters” — have insinuated their political and social agenda into the lives of ordinary Americans.
They have declared abortion to be the law of the land, defended the rights of terrorists to have the same justice afforded to American citizens, [and] defended the right of Muslims to pray five times a day while stopping Christian prayer before a football game.
Obama may have two - possibly three — appointments to the U. S. Supreme Court. Those appointments will be of the same ilk as Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who has stated, “The U. S. judicial system will be the poorer, I believe, if we do not both share our experience with, and learn from, legal systems (international laws) with values and a commitment to democracy similar to our own.”
Justice Ginsberg has little or no respect for the Constitution, which is supposed to be her guideline. She would rather look to other countries when handing down decisions that will affect our lives - the lives of our children and grandchildren for years to come. Our Founding Fathers must be turning over in their graves.
If you have not yet cast your vote, I plead with you to look closely at the candidates and where they stand on matters of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; on matters of individual freedom and individual responsibility.
As Ronald Reagan said in 1964, “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

On the outside chance Obama fails in November, will we blame it on racism or claim that Bush stole the election? Just wondering…..

Can’t be any worse than what the country has been through under the failed leadership of George W. Bush and the republicans. Lets see, we’ve had terrorist attacks where Bush/Cheney did nothing to protect our citizens, torture of prisoners…a first for our once honorable nation that didn’t condone torture, 2 wars on 2 fronts, one caused by deliberate lies, warrant-less wiretapping of private citizens, a ruined economy, that one bears repeating, A FAILED ECONOMY…seems as if the worst has already been perpetrated by the republicans…

I doubt Obama will lose since the media is drinking the same koolaid everyone else that’s voting for him is drinking but if he doesn’t win there’s no doubt it will either be racism or that the conservatives stole it by not counting all the illegal unqualified voters that ACORN registered.

THE WRITER OF THIS ARTICLE HAS A WARPED VIEW OF WHAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA SHOULD BE:
Bush and the conservatives want to destroy the fundamental principles of the United States of America.
The Democrats appoint Supreme Court Justices who protect our 4th ammendment rights to privacy, our first ammendment rights to free speech, our 14th ammendment rights to be free from the power of the state (a state is a form of government) and our civil rights.
The only individual freedom the conservatives care about is the right to own a gun. The conservatives want to butt their dirty noses in to people’s private lives, and to dictate to other people what their so called standard of “morality” should be by depriving people of their constitutional rights and individual freedoms.
The Democrats believe in hope and not fear. The Democrats believe in justice, instead of pre-justice. The 6th ammendment of the U.S. Constitution gives people the right to a a fair trial. The Democrats believe in the moral values of peace before war, and diplomacy before destruction. The Democrats believe in pride without prejudice, and not judging one’s neighbor, but letting one’s neighbor live in peace.
The Democrats are the party that value the true fundamental principles of the United States of America. True Christians believe in the moral values of peace and not war, freedom and not fear, and letting people live their lives in peace, privacy, and with dignity.
The United States of America is “The Land of the Free.” Our country can not be the land of the free if our constitution is not interpeted as giving each individual freedom. We can not pick and choose our freedoms based on biases, hatred, and fear as the conservatives often do.
Jesus was a liberal, and he sure in the hell would have been a Democrat!

That is right, I am with Dan1967. Vote on Democrat voting day, Wednesday, Nov. 5th for Obama. They may tell you to vote on Tuesday, but that is how “The Man” steals elections. Democrats that vote on Tuesday your vote will be stolen and given to the Repukes. That is how they roll. We can wait. We have had to wait over 1500 years for a Black President, we can wait one more day. So remember to vote for Hope, Change, and our Obama on Wednesday Nov. 5th. YES WE CAN!!!!!!!

It always amazes me that anyone with a conscience would pay any attention at all to Sadie Fields. This is a lady who has rejected her daughter and granddaughter. She has no business offering a “Christian” perspective.

The advantage that the 1933 Nazi Party in Germany had over the 2008 Democratic Party was that they didn’t drink koolaid, but real German Lager. At Luger point! The Germans pretended to object, but then when they saw Heetler doing the Leiderhosen Slap Dance at Munich during Octoberfest, they drank the Koolaid, I mean, Ale and said, “Das ist Goot, yah! das goot! Yah! Das Goot!”.
What do we get? Obama doing the Ellen Sloppy dance on Ellen and we get very weak koolaid left over from the Bush years.
I guess it really is all about the beer. Which brings up the new “drinkability” campaign from Bud Light. Now, there’s two commercials. One features a funny looking guy, and that commercial works. But the one with the girl talking about drinkability is a disaster. She cant enunciate. I have no idea what she’s saying. She’s all wrong for this commercial, and this is the casting couch rearing it’s ugly head. Oh, there’s a thousand double entendres in that last sentence alone!
So I’ll leave it alone, with a blow-up doll, that is. There’s a good bit. The director who’s so unlucky at love that he has a blow up doll on his casting couch. He cant even get her a role in a scrambled porn feature. The Blow Up Doll. Starring Plastique. Explosive! Mesmorizing. You’ll laugh. You’ll Cry. You’ll buy rabbit ears.
or how about this one: the partisan pro-life pundit who was so desperate about McCain winning that he carved a B in his blow up doll. He calls a press conference and presents the deflated mess along with a new Barbie Doll still in the package and sez, “This is your country, (points to the new Barbie)…this is your country on Obama (points to the deflated blow up doll)….any questions?
That’s a how McCain can still win. People R that stupid. Oh yeah.

Rest assured I’ve watched a lot of administrations—probably in the ball park of the ones you have. I’ve never seen the egregious arrogance where the Executive would assume it can rule all the other branches of government that were structured pretty well by the founders (although not perfectly) to keep checks on each of the others.
2) I’ll put what you claim you don’t know to rest. I’ve hardly been brain washed and I’ve spent a lot of time gathering my info and ocming to conclusions. It ought to be obvious to you that I read widely, understand the legal aspects of this administration and the attempt to vote cage by Republicans in every state in this country far beyond the level of the AJC which is very superficial as is Wooten when it comes to legal matters.
3) Nobody pays me to want to clean up this egregious mess and needless killing and waste of treasure (3 trillion in Iraq), potentially a worse situation than 1929 crafted almost totally by Republicans who had all the controls for years despite the Wingnuts trying to loosely tie Dems to Fanny and Freddy which are only a component of the financial fiasco.
If you have a brain you cannot believe Palin should ever be President and you have to understand she is a parody of an election. The characters in all the recent movies are about elections are infinitely smarter than Palin.
There is no one in there right mind that doesn’t think Robin Williams could clean Palin’s clock in a debate. Palin has been dressed up like Eliza Doolitlle and words have been put in her mouth. When she goes “rogue” she makes a fool out of herself. And for everyone who numbers themselves “in the base”, I can guarantee you are about to see the views of the base rejected Writ Large come November 4.
If you have any level of legal sophistication at all, Chambliss’s statements during the foreplay to the reprehensible FISA bill were pure lies and I can document that letter for letter.
If you have a scintilla of medical sophistication, Palin’s comments about fruit flies and her systemic ignorance on sstem cell research are pathetic or as some have termed her Paleonistic. They are from the stone age.
What precisely do you think I need to keep an open mind about? McCain? Palin? The reprehensible effort by partisan Republican secretaries of state like Handel to get Democrats and minorities and particularly less affluent people off the voting rolls?
Checks against lists where objective university research has shown (a recent study at Harvard that is well known) by Lorraine Minute that found only 24 voters from 2002-2005 guilty of vote fraud out of hundreds of millions of votes cast?
The interpid attempt by Handel to deny a citizen Jose Morales, his right to vote even after he showed up with irrefutable proof of his citizenship. Last time I checked Handel wasn’t a native Indian. ISn’t that a German name? Doesn’t that mean that her great grandparents likely came from somewhere not the US?
I know HAVA well and I also know how Hans von Spakovsky formerly from Ga. and Donneta Davidson have used the White House’s coopting of DOJ to try to distort HAVA in an effort to take several hundred thousand Obama voters off the rolls in each state.
Tomorrow or the next day Handel’s vote caging efforts will be crushed.
I butress my statements with facts Dusty. If you have any at all, why don’t you put ‘em up instead of worrying about who is being paid.
As for brevity, I’ve posted links that will educate you.
Like most Republicans reading is an effort you’re not interested in.
Try to tell me why Palin is not taking any objective interviews from the press right now and has not taken comp;rehensive questions from the press in a half hour or hour long conference. Obama has done scores as has Biden.
Did it ever occur to you it’s because she couldn’t answer the questions.
Palin wouldn’t understand the nuances of how OLC has been coopted by Cheney and Addington if it bit her in the butt.

You obama supporters and like blind sheep to the slaughter.THE MAN IS A LIAR.I just hate it that the rest of us may be taken down with you.
I have started a business (small)that does over a million dollars a year.I have worked as many as 20 employees. If I have to pay for health care for all of these employees I will have to shut the doors no matter how much of a tax break obama says he will give me. So that will be 20 more people in the unemployment line.I pay these people an average of $550.00 a week. Max unemployment is $330.00 a week. you do the math.

I don’t remember Republicans talking about the need for checks and balances when they controlled Congress and Bush was President. Everything is political. Perhaps Sadie Fields remembers a country of poll taxes, separate restrooms, separate water fountains, etc. You know, when she didn’t have to go to school with “those people”.

Too bad - it is well on its way to looking - and sounding - very much like the country I grew up in!
You gringos have been living far too well for far too long on stolen land. We have helped Comrade Obama get into office so that he will allow our cousins to come take your lazy nation after he makes us all legal. Then we will all vote for the fellow Marxists who have helped to free us from your oppression.
You are right lady - and good ridance to you and your imperialist European ways.
We are taking out continent back. You should follow Mario Obledo’s advice and GO BACK TO EUROPE! ( When you get there, I hope the Muslims get you!)

Dream on Juan. You’ll still mow my lawn. So will your kids. Your wife will still clean my houses. So will your daughters. Give it four years and the natural order will return and you’ll still be living 10 to a 2 bedroom apartment and your kids will never be able to say the following things truthfully: I am an only child. I had my own bedroom growing up. I have never used a weedeater to make a living. There’s no more room in the van.

As a practicing Christian, I cannot think of anything worse to occur in this country than to have the Sadie Fields of this country decide what our government should do, how Supreme Court Justices should rule, and what amendments need to be made to the U.S. Constitution. She and her fellow fanatics are no different than the Mullahs who run Iran. She represents the kind of intolerance and hatefulness which has historically been committed under the name of Jesus Christ. She is a mean-spirited, intolerant bigot who wraps herself in the Bible and the American flag, and actually has a large following of equally-disturbed supporters. She, along with her ilk, bring out the worst in human nature and are a tribute to nothing as good as Jesus Christ.

It is amazing to me, in this country today, how a woman how can write a piece on her views about this country electing a certain individual to the highest office in the land, back it up with that candidate’s own record and beliefs, only to have the public denegrate her personally for doing so. What happend to honest debate of the issues? Why don’t all of you “DEEP THINKERS” write a response here that challenges her beliefs with the facts of your opposing arguements? This is exactly how Hitler came to power - a depressed economy and brain washed character assassins like yourselves. Don’t destroy the message, but the messenger. You are all pathetic.

Sadie, Sadie, Sadie. I believe it is time for the Old South to finally kick the bucket and join the twenty-first century. Have you driven through some of our old Southern towns lately? How much really needs to get done? How much has been left undone in the last 30-40 years? In my own hometown, while the local government has done much in the last 10 years to make the town look ‘nice’ in certain areas, it has done very little to improve the local high school. It also has done very little to rebuild in areas where crime and poverty are simply sinful in a city with plenty of wealth.
What the people fail to notice in this town, is that the wealthy portion of the population who are conservative and don’t believe in raising taxes to imrove these local conditions, are the same people who suffer a great deal from the crime that develops in the impoverished areas. Unfortunately, it is the middle to upper middle class children that have the money to purchase the drugs that is often sold in these impoverished areas. It is the middle to upper middle class who must send their kids to a high school that reports lower aggregate test scores because of less than adequate education funding. Look at the lowest achieving schools in this country - where are they? How many are from the South?
Don’t get me wrong, republicans will win again in my small town this election. But I’m praying for change in the course of my lifetime. It will take that long… And, I’m only 34 years old. The Old South is fading slowly, but it is fading.
