InsiderAdvantage poll: Obama now has razor-thin lead in Georgia

InsiderAdvantage has a new poll up this morning, showing the U.S. Senate and presidential races in Georgia to be toss-ups.

In fact, the local polling firm says Democrat Barack Obama now has a slight edge over Republican John McCain, though within the margin of error. Both polls, conducted last night, are of 615 likely voters, with a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.

In the presidential: Obama, 48%; McCain, 47%; other, 2%; and undecided, 2%.

This comment from IA founder Matt Towery:

“Obama is doing better among white voters than Kerry did in 2004 (according to exit polls of that race), carrying some 28 percent of the white vote. He’s carrying around 75 percent both of the Hispanic and ‘other’ vote, which makes up between four and five percent of Georgia’s electorate. He is winning among independents, outside of the margin of error of the poll.”

With 10 days before Election Day, the InsiderAdvantage survey is the first to give Obama even a small lead in Georgia.

Two other polls in Georgia show a wider contest. Rasmussen Reports shows the race closing, but still gives McCain a 5-point lead — 51 percent to Obama’s 46 percent.

Strategic Vision, the Republican-oriented, Atlanta-based firm, also issued a new poll today, and gave McCain an even larger six-point lead. But SV also presented the contest in a slightly different fashion — asking voters to select entire tickets.

SV says its: McCain/Sarah Palin at 51%; Obama/Joe Biden, 45%; and Libertarians Bob Barr/Wayne Root, 2%.

No one’s showing their internals, but the key question is probably where each survey spots African-American turnout.

On the other hand, all three polling outlets show the U.S. Senate contest in Georgia headed to a run-off between Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss and Democrat Jim Martin.

In the IA poll, the race stands thusly: Chambliss, 44%; Martin, 42%; Libertarian Allen Buckley, 2%; and undecided, 12%.

With Rasmussen, a separate survey released Thursday showed Chambliss at 47%, Martin at 45%, and Buckley at 1%.

Strategic Vision has Chambliss at 46% and Martin at 44%. But SV gives Buckley his strongest showing to date, at 5 percent.

Lemme get this straight… Obama leads in GA after being down 8 pts last week. AP says Obama leads by 1 nationally while CBS says he leads by 13. As much as the AJC would love to believe he leads in GA, any rational person knows he doesn’t. He may be our next president but he will not win this state.

I didn’t know the gov”t was suppose to take care of our every need! For some stupid reason I thought being a man meant being responsible for your own desires & pleasures. I’m now finding out that working hard to have is a sin and doing nothing deserves rewarding. I’m so stupid for believing that hard work pays off when instead hard work pays the gov’t more of my money to take care of those who refuse to take care of themselves. So when ya boy obama gets in office, I’m going to close the doors on my small business that employs 22 hard working citizens and jump on the welfare program! Think about it, no more having to get up to go to work and provide for my family, gov’t will do it. Damn healthcare, I’ll take advantage of grady and fu*k paying the bills. And when i’m criticized for what I do I’ll play the race card & call old Jesse Jackson or Al pretty hair Sharpton.

“Sorry to say, but reality, not reality TV, will hit next May/June if the Dems are voted across the board.”

I’m sure that logic is what kept Republicans voting against George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004. No way the GOP would want the Presidency and Congress, right? Unified government is dangerous!

Have principles or don’t, but let’s not torture and twist them to suit the moment.

It should be a law that any media outlet that uses polls use the same poll for each of it’s reports throughout the election. Notice the poll that had McCain at 8 pts was a Georgia poll conducted by a TV station in Atlanta and Macon of likely voters. Today we get a “local poll” showing Obama with a slight edge. No Sh** Sherlock. Atlanta is by far the most liberal area of the State. In fact Atlanta votes Democratic almost every election. Through race in the mix and I’m suprised Obama doesn’t have a 40% lead.

Folks, I know it is cold and rainy today, but there will be snowflakes in H* before Obama will pull Georgia. The rest of Georgia will vote McCain just to p* off the Atlanta voters.

Come Nov. 5th you can take this poll and wipe your a** with it cause McCain will win Georgia. Btw, republicans didnt have 8 years you ignorants, they had 6. This is almost laughable. Having been the subject of one of these so called polls I know how they operate. The woman who called me was obviously wanting me to say I will vote democrat. I won’t. She kept asking me if I have ever voted democrat, if ANYONE in my house hold plans to vote democrat. She was hellbent on getting some sort of misconstrued answer to construe my saying I am voting republican into a democratic vote. With all the blatant media bias in this eclection who in hell would believe these polls. You can’t rust anyone this election. I can’t count the number of people who told me they have lied to pollster just to mess with them. Pollsters are like telemarketing calls, you say what it takes to get the annoying pesk off the phone. Georgia will go solidly behind McCain.

Being within Obama’s definition of middle class, I would be happy to accept a tax cut. But I’m also smart enough to know that it is the corporations and upper income people who own businesses, who if taxed more, will use the price tag levy to pass that cost along to you and me. Get it?

If Obama wins brace yourself for a mess. The same folks who voted for him will be the first to complain about the economy, long lines at the health office, etc. If he wins and has Harry and Nancy to drive through leftist policies - well take a look at how things are going in Argentina comrade.

Leftism is either a mental disorder or the highest form of selfishness.

Hey, remember Florida, 2000? Our very partisan secretary of state has her thumb on the election scales and has been doing everything she can to disenfranchise Deomcratic voters. The 2000 election was without question stolen by the Bush forces, and the 2004 election had a very bad smell to it. Obama will need more than a thin margin to overcome election tampering.

Taxes are paid on net income after expenses such as payroll have been deducted. The higher the payroll expense the lower the net income and the smaller the tax bill. So your tax logic does not hold water.

Oh yeah…they load up in the station wagon every Saturday after payday and take the wife and kids to the grocery store. Give me a break….all you die hard Democrats talk of wealth distribution. Well spanky the Democrats have been in control of Congress for 2 years now….how much wealth have you seen? I surely havn’t seen any other than the wealth I earned by working. the whole country will be better off when Obama wins

That sounds familiar. Oh yeah it was what the Democrats said in 1976 when Jimmy Carter was running. By 1980 we had suffered through the Iranian hostage crisis, bombings of U.S. facilities overseas, double digit inflation, the highest unemployment since the Depression, 21% plus interest, and untold other hardships.

FOLKS, Socialism does not work in this country. In fact it doesn’t work to well anywhere. Most countries in Europe accept double digit unemployment and over 50% tax rates as fact. But many aren’t happy about it. The same goes for Canada. Think of the worst possible case with an HMO provider, now multiply it by 10 to have an idea how most Government run health care works.

Isn’t it funny that our soldiers fought back Nazism, Communism, and Socialism in World Wars and now it looks as though America will elect what we fought so hard to resist. Hey let’s really go back and let Great Britain rule again.

“Stealing the election” has already begun — in Gwinnett County, Georgia (Atlanta metropolitan area). Because of a “printing error”, the votes on at least 10,000 absentee ballots cannot be read electronically and will have to be transcribed individually by election workers to “corrected” ballots. This is reported by the AJC as just average, everyday news. No response from Karen Handel, Georgia’s Secretary of State. This “printing error” effectively disenfranchises at least 10,000 people who have no real assurance that their votes will be counted as they intended. Will a “printing error” be the “hanging chad” for 2008?

Lets see, McCain proposed the same thing in 2000, and initially railed against Bush’s tax cuts for the rich (before he flipped-flopped) and no one called him a “socialist”.

Here’s a clip of McCain in 2000:

http://crooksandliars.com/silentpatriot/daily-show-flashback-mccain-socialis

And they’re accusing Obama of being a “socialist” for proposing the same thing???

Reminds me of the days during the civil rights era when segregationists and racists called people “commies” or “socialist” for proposing equal rights for minorities.

Nowadays, these folks are smarter and don’t tell you outright that they’re racist. Now its words like “socialist”, “Un-American”, “Unpatriotic”, “Muslim”, “not like us”, etc. Different words but the ultimate agenda is the same.

Fortunately, it looks like that these folks are on the wrong side of history. When you’re drowning, the race of the person throwing you the life preserver really doesn’t matter anymore.

Conflicting Polls, conflicting polls, conflisting polls. What to make of them?

The reality here in Georgia is that our US Senate race is going to be a runoff. I find it intriguing that this Troutman Sanders poll has 12% of it’s respondents in the undecided catagory, where did all those voters come from? Is it a case of people not paying attention to the Senate race, or perhaps the voters of Georgia are starting to pay attention and rethink their options.

I urge all of you that might have missed the three televised Senate debates that were broadcast during the last 2 weeks to go to the websites of WSB TV, WALB TV, WMAZ TV or CSPAN and watch the debates. It’s 2 1/2 hours of your life, nothing blows up and there are no scantily clad women to distract you. Yeah, it’s dry stuff but you will see and hear some interesting statements.

All the interesting stuff comes from Allen Buckley. On immigration, economics and defense he has some striking proposals. He’s the only candidate that has publicly sworn to not accept a dime of special interest money. He’s also the only candidate in this contest with some fire in his belly. I like fire in the belly.

Senator Chambliss performs exactly as you would expect an incumbent to. He bloviates on about his voting record in a somewhat detached manner, kind of like he’d really rather be anywhere but here at a debate.

Martin has trouble staying on topic and seems really confused about who he’s running against. I think the top gaffe of this race occurred during his closing statement at the WSB debate, when he said if you want somebody who’ll look after your interests, Saxby will, and I won’t, or something to that effect.

So if you’re undecided, or you get undecided during the next 10 days, take a chance, roll the dice, vote for Allen Buckley for US Senate. In the meantime, go to Buckleyforsenate.com and drop a dollar on his donate button, rest assured you will have a chance to vote on the matter again on 2 DEC 08.

All I ask is that, if it is clear Obama will win, vote Republican for congress. If somehow McCain seems like he will pull it off, then vote Democrat for Congress.

Why? Because either party will screw us all if they control the executive branch and the legislative branch. Think about it - Bush lost his VETO stamp for 6 years. 6 of 8 years of the Clinton era went well because he had to compromise with the Republican majority in Congress.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Legislative + Executive = absolute power. Don’t give either group of these weasels the chance to run rampant. All of us will suffer.

Joe,

Normally I would agree with you that Georgia is a solidly Red State, but with the high population of African-American (who tend to vote Democrat) that has really increased especially in the last 3 years and with more and more people moving to Georgia from other states I don’t think it’s nowhere near as solid as it once was - especially given the economy (which in bad times tends to make people vote against the incumbent party - in this case Republican). Like I said, I still think Georgia will go for McCain, but I think it’ll be close - alot closer than most people think it will be.

Ms Faithful, this is exactly the problem. Everyone should not have, as you put it, “equality opportunity”. People who do well in school, GET AN EDUCATION, speak proper grammar, and WORK HARD should be entitled to better pay, jobs, and positions than those who do not.
I realize that the new “AMERICAN WAY” is to get something for nothing. But if OBAMA is elected, you will see unemployment go through the roof and then more people will be looking for handouts! The small company I work for has been around for 15 years. My boss has already warned me that if OBAMA gets in office, he is going to have to shut his doors. His company grosses $400K+ per year with 9 employees. With the proposed tax hike, he would either have to drastically cut all of his employee’s wages or shut down the business because he won’t be able to pay the taxes. So, thanks to OBAMA, the 9 MIDDLE CLASS workers will be looking for new jobs, or handouts from the gov!

Georgia will never vote Obama, those transplants you are talking about are voting conservative. The loonies who are still in the northeast, and out in San Fransisco are still there, probably waiting for their government handout… I think it’s tragic the way you talk about socialism. Socialism has NEVER worked, and never will. The guy you are so passionate about is a SOCIALIST! BTW, I would be happy to move to Alabama, Sarah Palin would make a fine President one day, unless of course she is sucked in by the “black hole” that has become DC. One last thing, you can call me a racist, redneck or whatever name you decide, that’s still not going to change the outcome of this election. McCain will win, and for some reason it won’t be as close as you guys think….

Some of these Obama comments are pathetic. “IF OBAMA WIN IT WILL BE EQUALITY OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE.” Just an example of the uneducated, ignorant losers who are voting for Obama. They think everything will magically be transformed under an Obama administration. Bush is the cause of all problems. How about the congress over the last 2 years with democrats Pelosi and Reid in charge? Bush is part of the problem, but the democrats usually love to spend our tax money on every handout program imaginable. We need less gov’t spending. We won’t get that with Obama. Obama with a republican congress I could live with, but total democrat control is a scary scenario. “Spread the wealth”? Won’t be much wealth to spread around after Obama’s through ruining this country.

Mr Mccain does not offer any kind of plan to fix our economy nor has he demonstrated a vision of what America will become under his administration. Rather Mccain attacks his opponent on subjects that are not relevant or are simply concocted and fictional.

The clock is about to strike on the Bush Presidency and America will have to clean up the mess over the coming decades. We cannot allow Mccain and Palin to continue on the path we have been on.

This is happening everywhere —— look at Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia and even Arizona. They are following exactly the same trajectory as Ohio, Indiana, Virginia and Florida. At this point, the nastier McCain and Palin get, the more boost it gives Obama. An “October surprise” by the Republicans could put Obama over 450 electoral votes.

For those claiming to vote for someone that understands the middle class. Think about this, of the four running for Pres and VP, only one is NOT a millionare. Only one stood up to the big oil companies and denied them special considerations. Only one has actually been soley for a budget for 2 different Government entities.

As to your nine year old grandson knowing what the VP does, do you? I have a hundred betting you don’t. Sometimes when you are answering to small children you try to provide the simpliest answer possible. Too many details will lose their attention. I think Palin needs a little more experience before taking the reins of this country, but she already is as qualified as Obama. Basically this should be Biden .vs McCain for President because neither Palin nor Obama is prepared. Heck even Biden is warning us that within 6 months of taking office their will be a crisis that may not be handled the way it should be, but he ask we be patient. Oh, that’s right no one reading this paper has heard that. I wonder why. But this was stated just this past weekend and is scary. If the VP doesn’t think the Obama is ready why should we.

Obama leads in Georgia??? PLEASE… a state that voted 80% Bush 4 years ago and is consistently conservative except ITP now is favoring Obama??? The survey sampling which is based on early voters (who are primarily Decatur (re: liberal) is the most skewed example of making statistics work to your advantage.

While the Democrats are clearly wishing 11/4 was a few weeks ago, the reality is that McCain is closing the gap in key states. Despite the best efforts of the liberal polling groups to make everyone feel the election is over, the end result may just surprise the world with McCain winning.

Something tells me that Palins polling numbers were about the same in Alaska a few years ago as she took on the “machine”

Judging by the size of the crowds at the MaCain/Palin rallies, I believe the “silent Majority” will once again vote conservative across the nation.

Just as the polling “experts” had Kerry up 5 points on election day against Bush, so too will these so-called experts get it wrong again this time…

HMMMMM,

We have and always have had a progressive tax. What that means (since I’m sure you are not educated enough to know already) is that the higher your income, the more tax you pay. But you don’t currently pay 36% (if you’re in the top tax bracket) on your entire income, just on the portion that is above the predetermined level. And the tax plan that Obama is proposing would be lower taxes overall than anyone has had since Reagan was president. Was Reagan a socialist? No. If you want to have an argument about whether we should not have a progressive income tax and replace it with a flat tax or sales tax, then we might be able to have a fair debate about it. But to sit there and suggest someone is a socialist because they advocate lowering taxes on the middle class is completely absurd. George W. Bush ruined our economy by promoting deregulation on financial markets, by fighting the wrong war (throwing billions of dollars down a toilet) and by giving tax cuts (most of which favored the wealthiest among us) for the first time ever during wartime. McCain is for deregulation, supports the Iraq War, and wants to extend the Bush tax cuts as they are currently. All that equals a continuation of the downward spiral of our economy. It is a failed economic theory that has been proven in the worst place of all…the real world environment!!! We’ve been told for decades that if you cut taxes on the wealthy, then the benefits will “trickle down”. But it just never happens. What really drives the economy is consumption. And when poor and middle class Americans are struggling, they consume less and as a result, jobs are lost and the economy suffers. That’s why you have to fortify the economy from the ground up. The Republican theories of economics are akin to putting the roof on a house before you pour the foundations. There will only be one result…collapse. Get it thru your thick, ignorant, racist, republican skull, your ideas are wrong!!!

One thing to remember that with regards to the whole race issue … African American’s tend to vote Democratic. They would most likely vote for Barack Obama whether he was black or white. Yes, there are some that will vote for him solely for that reason, but there will also be whites that will vote for McCain solely because he’s white. The race issue, IMO, for the reasons I have studied is really kind of a non-issue.

Also, with regards to experience. IMO, nobody except someone that has actually been President is truly qualified to be President. Yes, McCain has more experience than Obama, but does he have more of the experience truly necessary to be President? Probably not since he has never served in that position. JMO, of course.

Also, finally, I agree with Rick. I have often wondered where these polls comes from because I have never been polled and nor has anyone else that I know.

Ignorant losers are those folks who are not voting for Obama because he’s black (half right), Muslim (incorrect), socialist (wrong again), or for other stupid reasons. BH17 - if your friend’s business grosses $400K+ and he has 9 employees, my guess is he doesn’t net more than $250K per year. If he does, he’s probably not paying those nine employees much of anything. If his business nets less than $250K per year (which is what taxes are paid on, not gross revenue), he will actually pay less taxes under Obama.

If Obama wins Georgia, a key will be the large number of people that have moved here from somewhere else have changed the political landscape. I hear every day that Obama is a muslim and they will not vote for a muslim. I can’t believe people can be so ignorant. These are the people the Republicans count on for votes. The Republicans call it the blue collar rural vote. What they really mean is the white, ignorant, uninformed vote. People need to wake up and realize Republicans do not have any idea how to govern. This is the problem when all you do is preach hate and fear. It clouds your judgment and doesn’t enable you to make good decisions. Look at your life. If you are better off than you were eight years ago, vote for McCain because his policies mirror GWB’s.

If you aren’t better off, you need to seriously decide whether or not you give a damn about the USA. If we keep going on the same path, we will not be a super power in twenty years. If you think it cannot happen, think again. Remember how you voted before you start complaining later. Keep voting Republican and you’ll keep getting smacked the face. A vote for McCain is a request for another slap in the face or worse. You better believe that the smack will happen. McCain will get the USA into another war. Mark it down. The man is dangerous for the USA. The USA is not invincible.

It would be great for Obama to win Georgia but he doesn’t need it to win the election. It would just be a bonus.

For all those who worry about tax increases - you must all be making over $250,000 a year huh? (Or you watch Fox and believe that liberals love taxes no matter what they say or do.)

How well did George W do running the country? It’s a disaster! McCain hates George W but unfortunately most of his ideas are very similar. So while it’s not fair to say they are buddies - they do approach the economy and foreign relations the same way and that will be a disaster. We have no more room for error!

At least with Obama, you get something for your taxes - healthcare, sound economic policy, improved foreign relationships. With McCain you get someone worth $100 million who thinks everyone making under $4 million are middle class. I guess with his money - it is middle class but not for the rest of us.

Southerners fear progress (and candidates who are half black I guess.)

Why is it people love to talk about “lazy people getting welfare” and people who want “government to do everything for them”?

The amount of money going to things like welfare and food stamps is peanuts!

Check out the real welfare…$700 billion baby! And maybe more on the way. Why? Because we made the mistake of letting people who claim to want small government run the country that’s why.

In this election, a giant political “correction” is taking place in the United States. It’s coming and it is going to be massive. You people who get on here and lie, ridicule, and are full of resentment of others…real change is coming and this great country is about to put itself back on the right track.

Will Obama win Georgia? It is clear we can’t say either way. If places like Indiana, North Dakota, North Carolina are trending Obama then why not Georgia?

I think there is a reverse Bradley Effect going on. You got people telling their friends and family they are voting McCain but the truth is they are voting for Obama.

Look at the demographics folks, transplants, more people of color(not just African-Americans) are already here. Georgia will be a blue state, if not this time around, then certainly by 2016.

Its interesting that if you are white and college educated, you are more likely to be a Obama supporter.

Anyone have any confirmable sources to back this up. In the office I work, everyone is college educated. The office I polled consist of 8 black males, 2 black females, 12 white males, and 1 white female (note that 2 “black males” are actually from India). I won’t give the breakdown by race or gender but here is the result. 3 refused to answer or was undecided, 1 said other, 11 said McCain and 8 stated they were Obama voters.

If you think of the Hollywood type or media elite as “most educated”, then I guess you are right. But for the most part these people are fun to watch on the screen, but are idiots in real life. I mean get real, do you think of A. Baldwin as representing “educated white males”?

Foolish, foolish people who believe the lies of John McCain. He is an old man that will say anything to turn his losing campaign around. Lies spew from his mouth at every turn.

Obama has a plan, McSame just plans on doing exactly what Bush does. McCain is rich. He supports big businesses. He does not give a care for the Middle Class.

Voting 4 Obama and Martin this Tuesday. Do the same and end the madness of the last 8 years! Support the middle class, not bug business. And please send Palin packin’ for her permanent trip back to Alaska.

Go Maverick and Barracuda !!!

How can the Republican party be for “the rich” and also be the party of the uneducated?

Think about it.

I am one of those undecided voters. I don’t care for either candidate. I worry about Obama’s lack of experience (4 years in politics), his unspectacular job as a Senator and his statement that his grandmother “is a typical white lady.” Biden seems….not very smart.

I don’t care for McCain’s stance on several issues. At least Palin is hot.

In a way it would be interesting if Obama wins. Once white America elects an African- American as President the talk of widespread racism in America would be silly.

Black Lady in WIS said: “Why is america so afraid of a black man running the country and just a little reminder he is 50/50 white and black so what the HELL is the problem he cannot do no worse than GEOROGE W BUSH has done in the last 8 years he has taken this country to the lowest of lows so all Mr.Obama can do is bring it up so all American’s can live the dream, so people get ready the change is coming whether you like it or not proud to be an America black women living in America. now choke on that”

Being that Obama is leading in the polls, I don’t think America is “afraid of a black man running the country.” I’m certainly not as he is my candidate. However, what America is afraid of is militant black women running around with their hate telling people to “choke on that.” You make everyone look bad when you respond like that. What in the world would your mother think (or is that where you learned your hateful, impolite behavior)?

Thats funny, the AJC, on another liberal agenda, has failed to mention that McCain leads Obama in GA in two other polls conducted this week around the same time that the InAdv poll was taken. McCain lead 5 and 6 points respectively.

It just goes to show that no poll is right and they can all be wrong. But it is funny how the AJC continues to use a poll that was terribly wrong on several occassions in 2006. Isn’t that right Governor Taylor and Lt. Governor Reed? Ooops, thats right, they didn’t win did they. In fact both got blown out while Insider Advantage claimed both were ahead slightly. Look folks, just look at the state of the congressional and legislative races in this state. Only one of them is in danger of changing hands and that is a Democrat who could lose to a Republican. Only 3-4 legislative seats could change hands as well. If Obama was really winning in GA then more races in both of those categories would be up for grabs and they are not. McCain will win GA by about 4-6 points. Might be the only thing he wins, but he will win it.

InsiderAdvantage Poll?? You’re kidding me?! So I guess if I start a poll called WackyPoll.com and said that all the participants said they were voting for NOBama, the AJC would publish that?? Give me a break. I cancelled my AJC delivery because this kind of “unbiased news.” The NY Times just published their quarterly earnings…down another 51% in profits. Louise, You say “Please remember how and why our country was founded! Please remember our founding fathers!”

Exactly - Our founding fathers wrote in Article Six of the U.S. Constitution, of which we are so proud, that “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Also our the 1st Amendment of Constitution guarantees Freedom of Religion - which allows any citizen to follow ANY religion or NO religion at all! That’s what our country was founded on!

Barack Obama and John McCain are Christians, what if they weren’t? Our founding fathers said “It doesn’t matter!”

Bryan says:

“How can the Republican party be for “the rich” and also be the party of the uneducated?”

There is a very simple answer to your question. The Republican party has for quite some time manipulated ignorant, poor, rural white Americans into believing that it is the party for them by playing on their fears and hate. I’ve seen it happen many a time. In the not too distant past, a typical Republican speech would go something like this: “blah, blah, blah, welfare mothers, blah, blah, blah, gay marriage, blah, blah, blah, family values, blah, blah, blah, abortion, blah, blah, blah, black folks, blah, blah, blah, guns and religion,” effectively playing on peoples’ ignorance and fear of those who are different to manipulate people into voting against their best interests. It was a very successful strategy while it lasted. Check out www.rednecks4obama.com. Perhaps they can explain it better than I can. You must be one of the “uneducated” members of the Republican party if you couldn’t figure this one out on your own.

Big Steve,

Georgia has only been consistently Red in the last two elections. In 1996 it was turning from blue to red, but before that it was pretty much solidly blue. The demographic of Georgia has changed since the last election and this combined with a bad economy there is a chance that Georgia could go blue. I still think it’ll vote for McCain (however if it does I think it’ll be close), but I wouldn’t bet the farm just yet.

You ask “How can the Republican party be for the rich yet be so uneducated?”. You need to look no further can George W. Bush and all of his cronies. Look at what they have done to this country over the past eight years. Being rich and for the rich and being uneducated are not mutually exclusive. You can go to the best schools in the world (Bush at Yale, for example), yet have absolutely no clue what to do with that education.

28 Years of Republican Economics…

Even Alan Greenspan has said that, in terms of the economy, Bill Clinton was a Republican, because he signed the free trade deals that the Republicans had sought forever and which were passed by almost all Republicans in congress.

If you consider Clinton a Republican economically, then we’ve had the last 28 straight years of Republican economic policies, Bush, Bush Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Reagan.

28 years of lessening corporate regulation, cutting social programs, cutting spending on public works, lowering taxes on the top 1% allowing more and more free trade and illegal immigration. Look where we are now.

If we become more socially conscious and invest in ourselves more, then we will better avoid the pure socialism we are forced to resort to now because our present plan has put us in the poor house.

On a related note, Bill Campbell gets out of prison today.

It’s too bad that doing the right thing by living a righteous life is no longer “in style” and is driven by the desire to “get even” with people who have never caused anyone harm.

In a way it would be interesting if Obama wins. Once white America elects an African- American as President the talk of widespread racism in America would be silly.

That was got to be one of the dumbest things I’ve read on this very dumb blog.

If Obama wins, suddenly racism will go away? LOL!!!

So if the Black guy wins, no Latino will be prejudiced against an Asian? No Native American against someone who is White? All the Neo Nazis and Klan types will just join hands with people of color and everything will be ok. Really?

Racism isn’t just a black and white thing and there is no magic wand that is going to stop it with the election of one politician.

I believe racism will disappear if Obama wins about as much as I believe people are still “undecided” voters. People know darn well who they are going to vote for no matter which party, major or small, they know. Stop the “undecided” drama already. You are a McCain voter or some type of “well they both sux” Libertarian type which is still just a type of Republican.

I think it is a shame when white people cannot bring themselves to believe that 28 out of 100 white voters would vote for an African-American. Because that’s what the polls say…28% of the white vote+ the people of color vote=an Obama lead and possible win.

If Obama can get 22-25% of the white vote and 90% of the people of color, and Black turnout is close to 30% of total voters, Obama wins the state people.

That’s the way it works. Even if 75% of white voters vote no, there are enough voters of color to override them. Get used to it Georgia!

I hate to make a suggestion like this, but after seeing the photo of the McCain volunteer who had the letter B carved on her face, it reminded me of a similar case in the sixties.

Did anyone notice the B is backwards.

A young girl in the sixties in new york reported to police that she was attacked and raped and had the word b*** carved on her face, but it was carved backwards.

She ended up being exposed as a fraud because it was later found out she carved the word on her forehead while looking in the Mirror, making the word appear right way in the mirror but backwards when you look at it straight ahead.

I have a strange feeling she being a McCain volunteer, she might have made up this attack to drum up sympathy. To carve the B backwards, the attacker would have to be doing it from above her with her head facing his feet. The attacker would not have been able to restrain her because her arms and legs would be free they would have to be lying on the ground head to head, chin to nose facing each other. I suspect she didn’t realize it when she carved the B on her own face in the mirror, that it would come out backwards. Check out her picture on the news sites, it sounds like the same scenario.

All, read this and educate yourselves:

This was sent in an email and it hit’s the nail on the head!

“If the polls are any indication, I don’t know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you’re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I’ll cut right to the chase here:

I’m fed up with you people. I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’s really going on in the world. Or of what’s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there’s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don’t give me this ‘blood for oil’ thing. If Bush were trading blood for oil he would’ve already seized Iraq ‘s oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don’t give me this ‘Bush Lied…People Died’ crap either. If he were the liar you morons take him for, He could’ve easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be ‘discovered.’ Instead, he owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as Bush. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before Bush came into office. Some guy named ’ Clinton ’ established that policy. Bet you didn’t know that, did you?

Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan , a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he’s going to destroy us. While he’s doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it’s okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel.

Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That’s not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don’t care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That’d be fine, as long as they weren’t also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the b******* are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven’t gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you’re not. That’s because you’ve got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, Bush warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I’m disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of ‘Survivor.’

Instead, you’ve grown impatient. You’re incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat’s political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well Fed Ex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it’s easy enough to find the truth. It’s all over the Internet. It just isn’t on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you’d be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you’re too stupid to leave a city that’s below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I’ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

That means Obama, Biden or Pelosi could be your new President one day. You asked for it. Watch what they do carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that’s it. God bless what’s left of America .

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.

PS - You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran”.

I was born and raised in Georgia, I am proud of that fact. I am also well educated, and I don’t need to be spoon feed on a progressive tax system. My only point is that a vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism. An INFORMED voter will make the right choice on November 4. I know that McCain will carry GA. I also feel that middle america will again save this country from the radicals…. God Bless America, still a land where debate can be heard!

40% of American pay no income taxes and will - he says - still get a tax break under Obama. I pay half my money or more in taxes… about 32% in Federal income tax and so many other taxes that I can’t begin to go into it here.

It’s hard to imagine what this country will be like if Obama wins AND his cronies gain even stronger control of Congress. I don’t know if we will ever be able to recover from the socialism AND the liberal courts.

Wake up Georgians. Wake up America.

Republican - Many republicans are very un-educated. What’s futher troubling is that some equate the republican parth with “white affiliation” while others think that they benefit from de-regulating corporate america. Others still think that they their party offers them further tax cuts. One day they will understand and the republican party will adopt new views.

Lower tax cuts - Earn $250,000 or more. Lower tax cuts - Own a business that generates more than 50% of total income. Deregulation - Freedom to employ foreigners. Freedom to invest in foreign markets.

Please, I’m in GA voting for Obama, but I’m in the minority of white voters in my state doing so. Most of my family members are too redneck and racist to vote for a black man, unfortunately. Most of them say that they know little or nothing about McCain or Obama but they know the color of their skins so there’s no way they’d vote for Obama. It’s sad when the majority of our state is a bunch of redneck morons who don’t educate themselves before going to the polls. The only way we’ll fix our economy is to fix the middle class. The 5% upper class will benefit from the improvement in the economy in the long run. I voted for Bush in the last election and boy do I regret it now!

*Call it Like it is *

We know you are scared of an African-American becoming President. It shakes up everything you believed about African-Americans and America in general.

It is ok not to vote for Obama. But it is not ok to lie. Obama is smart and knows more about economics(his college minor) than McCain who said he knows nothing!

I really feel sorry for you that you are so very scared of Obama. You talk about the “last pillars of America”, but excuse me, we’ve had white Christian straight men running the government. Many in the Bush administration had years of experience, and now look at where the country is!

If we’re close to the end, it is the fault of people who look, act, think, and vote like you! It’s your fault. You dumb political choices based on lies and now we’re in a mess.

Do us a favor and leave if you truly believe what you say. I encourage you to leave the same as I encouraged those on the left who said they were leaving after the last election. You don’t like this country then leave and spare us your trash!

You have a little more time to try and spread the propaganda. It’s not working, in fact it helps Obama, but folks like you are to blind with hatred to see that you are making people want to vote for Obama because they don’t want to be on the same side as someone like you.

But the moment of truth is coming.

If you do believe in your country then you will respect the will of the people and rally behind your president come January.

I am a single, white, college-educated female making a nice six-figure salary….and I voted early for Obama. I may not receive a tax break, but I think it’s more important to provide healthcare to our children, money for a good education, and tax breaks for those citizens who work hard day in and day out without the luxury of a big salary (teachers, non-profit workers, firefighters, etc.).

I am amazed and saddened at the arrogance and selfishness of many of my fellow Georgians and Americans.

Vote early, vote Obama and let’s earn back the respect for our great nation.

In 2000 when Bush and McCain were running to gain their party’s nomination, Bush had campaign flyers saying that McCain was “mentally unstable” to be president. I believed this to be true then and I still believe this to be true today. Folks, it’s not the “experience”, it’s the temperament that really counts. You can have all the experience you want but if you don’t have the temperament to execute it, you’re of no use. John McCain DOESN’T HAVE THE TEMPERAMENT TO BE PRESIDENT.

HMMMMM,

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, probably not with the large blinders you’ve got on, but there have been policy decisions or proposals supported by McCain/Palin/Bush, that by your narrow definition would be “soclialistic”.

BUSH: His administration bailed out Bear Sterns, AIG, Freddie/Fannie and proposed and eventually passed the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street. It amounts to at least a partial nationalization of the banking industry.

MCCAIN: In addition to voting for the bailout from the Bush administration, he also proposed buying up bad mortgages with tax payer money.

PALIN: Funneled revenues from the oil industry in Alaska to taxpayers.

It never ceases to amaze me how actions by a Republican will be viewed by partisans like yourself as responsible or taking action to fix things, but similar positions or policies if proposed by a Democrat are considered “socialism”. What a crock!! You make yourself look like a 21st century Joe McCarthy. But I guess when your candidate has no real ideas, the only thing he can do is accuse the other guy of being a witch. Yourself and McCain would have fit in well in Salem, MS, circa 1692.

He does not love our country, he does not honor our country when the pledge of allegiance is spoken or the star spangled banner. I am getting sick of this media crap saying that Sara Palin is not qualified enough to be V.P. Hell, if that’s the case, then jump on newly-elected Illinois state senator Obama.

Our country is just not ready for a Muslim to take control of the helm. The only time this country would be ready is if Iran or Korea ever tried to take our country over. Then we may have an Obama. But that would have to be over my cold, dead body. I mean, Obama is not even supporting any of the Christian ideals. Why would we trade in our Christian morals for a tax-cut rebate check?

As i read almost all of the post, I noticed a common thread in most of the Republican posts: Fear-mongering! The republicans have nothing good to say about McCain, but instead they want to create fear by telling semi-truths, misconceptions, and flat out lies. I would not call these posters stupid, just mis-informed. It seems much of what they learn comes from radio personalities with an agenda, or from the republican supporters that know they cannot win unless naive Americans fear the other candidate - he’s Islamic (so what if he is?), his wife is a black militant, he’ll raise taxes for everyone, he’ll give money to everyone who doesn’t work… How many times do we have to hear this year after year to know, IT’S JUST NOT TRUE! Stop believing the crap being fed by fear mongers! What do you hear that is good about your candidate?

To Gale who posted this - “poor people don’t pay taxes”. You must be living in a cave in the middle of a jungle, sweety. I’m part of the working poor, and I like everyone I know pays taxes. What could possibly make you think that poor peopel don’t pay taxes? Who do you consider poor? Who is not poor? If someone does not pay taxes, does that make them not poor? I don’t know if you support the flat tax, but if you do, take a simple test. Calculate how much you spend in grocieries in a month and multiply it times .23. Divide that number by the amount of your paycheck (assuming you make one) before taxes. Now double your paycheck and do the same procedure. You’ll find that the flat tax hurts thise making less money as they end up paying a higher percentage in taxes relative to what they make. The flat tax is designed to benefit those who make more money, it’s that simple.

the only candidate who said anything about taking away transplants was John McCain in the last debate! He called it “gold-plated” insurance policies. Just check the transcripts.

Why are you people so afraid to have what everyone else in the developed world has and that is healthcare for all? People in these countries live longer than we do so stop with the “we have the best healthcare” lie.

Socialized medicine is when the government makes healthcare decisions, close to what the Brits have. No One is proposing such a thing in the U.S. what people are proposing is that the government pay using our tax money.

*douknojesus *

You shouldn’t use the lord at the center of your lies. Obama was sworn in using a bible…there are pictures to prove it, and he has never said he wouldn’t use a bible to be sworn in as President. We’ll all be watching so it’s not as if he could hide something like that.

Well enough of playing with those of you who are becoming discombobulated because you know Obama is going to win. No end to the lies you will tell. No end to the things you will do like beat yourself up and blame it on black people. So very sad.

By Rich: I’m sure that logic is what kept Republicans voting against George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004. No way the GOP would want the Presidency and Congress, right? Unified government is dangerous!

Have principles or don’t, but let’s not torture and twist them to suit the moment.

Thank you, Rich, for stating what needs to be stated. Are Georgians and all Americans so uninformed, lacking critical thinking, and hypocritical to believe a unified government is only dangerous if the party in control is the Democratic Party? Unfortunately, I believe the answer is a resounding YES. Nevertheless, I keep hoping that Georgia will prove me wrong and voters will turn the state blue across the board this election cycle.

McCain is a white Christian. Obama is a black Christian. And our next President will be a Democrat. And those are the facts.

Had McCain chosen a “more qualified” candidate and lead a cleaner campaign, he may have been our next President, but he chose a different route, gambled on his campaign, and lost. People are worn out and tired of the mess so they are voting for Obama.

First off people need to get this through there thcik SKULLS! “OBAMA” is not reducing anyones taxes. That includes the middle class and the poor.

Most of the middleclass pays 25% in income tax every year. Obama is not lowering that percentage. Instead he is taxing the small businesses and the rich, who typically pay 35% (this percentage will rise dramatically) in income taxes each year, and giving the middle class and poor their money. If Obama was really worried about this country and the “middle class” then why not permenately lower the taxes we pay at 25% to something like 20%?

Instead he has to tax people and redistribute the wealth. I certainly wish people could understand that, but Obama is a very good speaker and most folks do not seem to catch that. Not only is his 95% of the population statistic untrue, but he will be giving money to people who do not pay taxes at all. How is that fair?

If Obama is elected, when he raises the tax on business, it will make more and more companies to move out of the US…to Mexico and abroad…guess what, more lost jobs…guess what, longer lines to stand it for government assistance…

Or they will just raise prices on goods/services, as I will, so you won’t be able to buy them.

Wake up America.

I’ve seen more lies coming from Republicans in this race than any other time in my life. The latest is the McCain worker who claimed to be attacked. It was a hoax.

How can ANYBODY think of supporting Republicans after they nearly destroyed this country in the last eight years? I hope Georgia voters show that they’re smarter than that.

Obama has a more level headed and centrist approach. People want less government intrusion and a government that doesn’t operate on credit. It’s ridiculous to continue tax cuts that only benefit the wealthy in a time of financial crisis. That’s the main reason the Palin/McCain ticket is slipping.

Look you freakin Obama worshippers. You love attacking talk radio and Fox because they tell the whole story, yes I agree with a conservative view. But the way the rest of the media have attacked McCain/Palin has been flat out tilted too the limit that Fox couldn’t hold out any longer. You have NBC exceutives actually admitting they were pulling for Obama and would make sure they would help anyway possible. What CBS, ABC, NBC, and now even CNN have done to skew the opinions of the American voter they should have paid receipts from the Obama camp. Historically the fish wraps like AJC anf NY Times have always been bias, as well as the talk radio personalities like Rush, Hannity, and others.

Attacks have been made because of negative ads by McCain, but Obama has just sit back and let the networks do his dirty work. Prime example from yesterday - NY Times reports Palin has been on a $150,000 shopping spree since nominated for the VP. Every network took this and ran last night on the news as headline news. But they fail to report the facts. Palin hasn’t been to the first department store to shop for these clothes. They were either donated and will been giving to charity after the election or they were giving as a loan. This is real easy to understand and the Hollywood types should understand this more than anyone. Anytime they are in the public eyes certain designers will loan or give outfits to them. But did the press release this. Heck no. They are too concerned about turning nothing into something. Oh and did they bother to mention the thousands of dollars for Obama’s custom suits and Michele’s outfits when campaigning. No, their with us and if we don’t have any good news to report then we don’t report anything.

Folks we use to be able to at least take what we read or saw on the news with a grain of salt, but now it is nothing but propaganda (spl?). Before I’m accused of calling Obama a Nazi, I’m not saying he is responsible for the media bias because I think they have taking it on their own to do the smear job. But the last time this much propaganda was used before a national election was in Germany before the Nazi’s took over.

I personally think Obama has made some bad judgements in friends and those around him, but I don’t think he is a bad person. BUT HE IS NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT AND EVEN BIDEN HAS STATED AS MUCH Is McCain better? Yes. Is he the best person for the job? No, but the better candidate(s) are not in this race. This isn’t about hate or race which is funny that any white person voting for McCain is viewed as such, even by the media.

With the most liberla Democrats in Congress teaming up with the most liberal Democratic candidate since Williams Jenning Bryan, we are going to see transformations in America that will make traditional Americans gasp. The only consolation is that Obama and Pelosi are likely to turn off most main stream voters within a couple of years with their hard liberla policies and the Republicans will get voted back in.

I can tell from most of the Obama supporter comments that most of them have never owned a business. You think 6% unemployment is bad, just wait for Obama’s tax increases on business to take effect. The tax revenue to the gov’t will actually decrease and there will be no money to pay for all his plans. Your healthcare will be more expensive and you’ll be waiting in line behind some welfare family for your appointments. Their plan which you are paying for will be better than yours. The gov’t plan that senator Obama will give them is better than most of us have now.

Fox News is not fair and balanced. How can you be fair and balanced when you only ever present one side of the story?? I read several stories that they post there on other news websites, but it would astound you the information that Fox News leaves off so that the story benefits Republicans. IMO, CNN is really the most balanced of the networks. Yes, they do have some reporters that are clearly liberal and some that are clearly conservative, but they will tell you like it is. If a story benefits McCain that’s the way they present it. If a story benefits Obama, then they present it that way. They don’t try to color anything or leave part of a story off in order to benefit one candidate or another.

And as for the whole Obama is a Muslim and wasn’t born here thing. Wrong. He was born here and he’s not a Muslim … he’s a Christian!

Black men di d not star out abusing the black women it was learned behavior and they were made to fell it was the thing to do … all me brothers who are reading this please…please take care of us and Charisse us because we were meant to be one. For the guy (chc4) who quoted the AP poll with the 1 point difference, I hope he realizes how misleading that AP poll actually was. Folks like Karl Rove of Fox News cited that flawed AP poll and it appears to be a little social programming taking place with that poll. Plant a seed of an idea that John McCain might win against overwhelming evidence to the contrary is all that is needed to challenge the outcome of the election. Wishful thinking McCain supporters, but that won’t wash this time.

The AP poll was a singular national Poll that showed the race tightening between Obama (44) and McCain (43) a one point difference. It was an anomaly. If you take a closer look at that AP poll you would see the poll focused its polling on 40% conservatives, of those 52% who identified themselves as EVANGELICAL! Save for a few exceptions, all Evangelical/Born-Again Christians are conservatives (republicans). Therefore, the AP poll conclusions are flawed. The race is NOT tightening. What the AP poll ACTUALLY indicates is that McCain is actually losing the conservative vote. Conservatives are also going over to Obama. Georgia is going blue.
