Because this political season hasn’t been exciting enough
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Rev. Al Sharpton has just put out word that he’ll be in Atlanta and Athens on Tuesday as part of a “voter protection” bus tour. His press release says he’ll be seeking to register voters.
But given that the Georgia registration deadline has come and gone, Sharpton will probably move straight to his “non-partisan effort designed to eliminate voter fraud and ensure that every vote counts.”
Sharpton is to arrive at the Morris Brown campus near downtown Atlanta at 10 a.m., then will push on to a 6 p.m. appearance at Clarke Central High School in Athens.

He is against voter photo ID. What a hypocrite. His “voter protection” really means, let my people vote whether qualified or not.

I’d vote for OJ before I voted Republican this election.
The GOP has screwed America harder than bin laden did. By the way - where is bin laden? What happened to dead or alive?

I understand and protect Sharpton’s right to come here - but it doesn’t exactly make sense. The Obama camp pulled out a month ago and conceeded the State to McCain.
Unless he’s stumpin’ for Jim Martin against Saxby Chambliss…shouldn’t he be in more important states?

We already had photo ID. For many years Georgians have had to show a photo ID when they registered or the first time they voted.
Does anybody really think that people are impersonating other registered voters in order to cast an extra vote? it doesn’t make any sense.

@Ryno— He pulled out some resources, but I don’t think running TV ads here qualifies as “conceding the state to McCain”. Just saw one last night on prime time TV.

“Voter protection” will be sorely needed this election, whether it’s Al Sharpton or whoever else. Republicans are having a hard time winning voters, and they are pulling out all the stops trying to suppress the vote, trying to keep Dems off the ballot, challenging voters based on foreclosure lists, excessive challenges to registrations, illegally purging voter rolls, incorrect and/or misleading info about registering voters, and on and on.
