In a statewide TV ad, Chambliss makes the case for his vote to rescue Wall Street
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, a Republican who suddenly finds himself in a tightening re-election contest, this morning began explaining his vote for the $700 billion Wall Street rescue on television, with a 30-second spot you can watch below.
It’s not unlike an ad that U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall of Macon, a Democrat, began airing in his territory last week.
Democrat challenger Jim Martin, who has pulled nearly even with Chambliss in several polls, has said he would have voted against the measure, because it didn’t do enough for homeowners. Libertarian candidate Allen Buckley says he, too, would have opposed the bailout.
Says Chambliss in the ad:
“We’re facing the worst financial crisis in my lifetime. Businesses are failing, Georgians are losing their jobs, their homes, their retirements, and their life’s savings.
“Congress had to act. I’m as mad as you are about what happened, but doing nothing would have been a disaster. The rescue bill is a strong, bipartisan effort to fix the economy and protect your financial future.
“I’m Saxby Chambliss, and I approved this message — because I know in my heart this legislation is good for all Georgia families.”
There’s been some talk — in this space — that the split over the bailout among congressional Republicans from Georgia could hurt Chambliss. While he and Senate colleague Johnny Isakson voted for it, Georgia’s seven House Republicans voted against it.
Before tonight’s GOP Victory Dinner in downtown Atlanta, Chambliss and six of the G-7 will hold a press conference to reassure the outside world that there are no hard feelings — and that they remain united against a common Democratic enemy.

I can’t believe the voters are so short sighted so as to send another Democrat to the congress of the United States. Do you not look at any of the facts? This entire mess is the fault of the Democratic members of congress. Jim Martin would fit right in with Barney Franks, and Dodd. I hope you will really look at the facts. The democratic congress is just like the Clayton school board.

Saxby Special Interest Chambliss (Socialist/RINO. Ga) voted for this tax payer ripp off without even reading it. That’s correct He voted against the wishes of his voters without even knowing what he was voting for. Saxby said he would not vote for a bill that contained pork, yet he voted for a bill that contained $153,000,000,000.00 of pork. Why did Saxby do this he had recieved over $1,322,000.00 from banks, real estate interest, and Insurance companies. McCain says Country First,, Saxby says LOBBYIST First.

The bail out actually is going to cost us $853,000,000,000.00 because Saxby & his Democratic buddies added $153,000,000,000.00 of pork to the bailout. The people of Puerto Rico & Soma thank youfor the subsidies they got in this deal . By the way the bill Saxby voted for allows the US Government to bail out French banks. What a Rip Off of the Taxpayer.

Democrat hack politicians like Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Frank and Dodd prevented Fannie and Freddie from being fixed. Saxby is not perfect but to place the blame on the melt down solely on him while leaving out the Democrats that worked very hard to prevent changes at Fannie and Freddie is fraudulent.

In previous Insider headlines this has been called a “bailout.” Why is it called a “rescue” now that Chambliss is defending it?

Dean Baker writes for Huffingtonpost.com: “According to the Washington Post, after the initial defeat of the bailout package in the House last Monday, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson went to see President Bush in the White House. The Post reports that President Bush asked Paulson about ‘Plan B.’ According to the Washington Post, Paulson told Bush ‘there is no Plan B.’
“Of course this was not true. Paulson could have easily designed a bailout plan that was centered on the direct infusion of capital in the banking system… Virtually every economist who has written on the bailout argued that a direct infusion of capital is a far more effective approach to dealing with the financial crisis than the approach outlined by Paulson… .
“This alternative approach almost certainly would have passed by an overwhelming majority in both houses of Congress since it could easily be structured in a way that ensured that the banks were not being rewarded for their incompetence at the taxpayers’ expense. This was a major factor behind the public’s outrage over the bailout.

Chambliss “knows in his heart” that welfare fascism for the Roman Anti-Christ’s Wall Street usurers “is good for all Georgia families,” is a bald-faced lie from one more draft-dodger pal of the White House’s cheated-in “Closet-Queen-in-Chief.”
Take a look at the Chinese currency against ours.
The Bush Crime Family is personally profiting from the “privatization of international trade,” though customs fees not long ago paid for the entire budget of the U.S. Federal Gov’t.
Bush and Chambliss and McCain have put us in hock to the Chinese, whose leader, in a recent Fareed Zakaria interview, is gently preaching to America of Adam Smith, author of “Wealth of Nations,” and font of economic and moral wisdom for Our Founders’ Whig Revolution.
That Revolution…of American Independence…is being destroyed by the cancer of Rome/Babylon and agents in it Fifth Column like Saxby Chambliss.
Martin must replace him if only because of his willingness to speak against this fascist welfare bailout for banksters’ greed building on hyper-leverage, on top of the unconstitutional Fed’s fractional banking perversion of our money.
The American People, the eighty percent Working Class, may suffer severly because of this vote. Atlanta, true to our history, will again plumb the Well of cooperation and community Spirit to overcome and guide Our Nation. Chambliss and the Gay Old Perverts’ draft-dodgers, who scurried into rat holes when we were duped into fighting and dying for the lie of Vietnam, marked themselves as cowards and opportunists…now firmy ensconced the the halls of power, both state and national selling the rest of us “down the river.”
It is we, vigilant, who must send then away instead.

Look at what Saxby voted for, wonder if he went along to the bailout party?
Less than a week after the federal government offered an $85 billion bailout to insurance giant AIG, the company held a week-long retreat for its executives at the luxury St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif., running up a tab of $440,000, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) said today at the the opening of a House committee hearing about the near-failure of the insurance giant.
Showing a photograph of the resort, Waxman said the executives spent $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 for the spa.
“Less than a week after the taxpayers rescued AIG, company executives could be found wining and dining at one of the most exclusive resorts in the nation,” Waxman said. “We will ask whether any of this makes sense. “
The committee will ask the company’s executives about their multimillion-dollar pay packages — some of which they continue to receive — as well as who bears responsibility for the company’s high-risk investment portfolio, which led to its near collapse just weeks ago.

Georgia’s senior senator is still dogged for his support of a controversial immigration bill that would have opened the door to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens. And who doesn’t remember him posing for photos with liberal icon Ted Kennedy to show his support for the bill? Of course, he later backed away from the measure, but the damage was done. His credibility never would be the same among the anti-immigration crowd.
Then there’s Chambliss’ son, who has been a lobbyist for the commodities trading industry at a time when Dad happened to be chairman or ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee - the committee with jurisdiction over commodities trading.
Chambliss is one of the few statewide elected officials in America who still is willingly joined at the hip to President Bush. Even in Georgia, Bush now has hit bottom in his approval rating.
Despite his unfailingly loyal service to the Bush administration, Chambliss has little bacon to show for his efforts. Georgia lost multiple military installations during the last round of base closings, which occurred on his watch. We appear likely to fail in efforts to land several major federal projects, including the national biodefense facility the University of Georgia has pursued doggedly.

Chambliss isn’t merely “not perfect,” by his alliance with his fellow draft-dodger, closet-queen George W. Bush, he is a servant of knowable earthly evil.
Committing 9/11 (Viz.”The New Pearl Harbor,” Griffin, PhD) to send us to die shedding innocent blood based on proven lies of WMD makes Chambliss an accessory of the Anti-Christ.
He is beneath contempt, unworthy of employment by the good and decent People of the Great State of Georgia and must be summarily removed as the leech he is, from our body politic.
