Buckley aims another set of angry radio ads at Chambliss

With the U.S. Senate race in so much flux, you have to pay attention, even to the small stuff.

Libertarian Allen Buckley, attempting to whittle away at Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss’ right flank, is out with three 30-second radio ads that will play in Columbus on WDAK and Savannah on WTKS.

The buy is quite low, about $500 each, Buckley said. (As is the production value, which Buckley didn’t say.)

Even so, the content is incendiary, even brutal — and similar in tone to an angry package of ads the Libertarian floated last month. In other words, they’re everything that Democrat Jim Martin could want.

While he approved each one, Buckley said the ads weren’t his idea.

“Some of my ‘free’ help came up with them,” Buckley said in an e-mail exchange this morning. “They do wake people up and provide for discussion. They’re not entirely my style. As you know, I’m more an issues guy. I’ll have a commercial coming out soon that is more serious.”

In one ad, Buckley accuses Chambliss of avoiding service in Vietnam with a “fistful” of deferments and a bad knee that hasn’t affected his golf game.

In another, relatively confusing spot, characters accuse Chambliss of browbeating a whistle-blowing witness during a hearing on the explosion of a sugar refinery near Savannah. “Saxby threw the poor man under the bus, and he just beat him like he owned him,” says the ad.

Just for background, here’s the original July posting on the Senate hearing in question.

An ad on last week’s vote to rescue Wall Street is the most topical: “Seven hundred billion dollars. The largest pork project in history. Saxby voted yes, twice. When what he cares about is threatened, Saxby isn’t afraid to act — with your money.”

Fact check: Unless there was some procedural vote that we missed, Chambliss only voted once. It was the House that took up the matter twice, defeating it on Monday and passing it on Friday. U.S. Reps. Jim Marshall and Sanford Bishop, both Democrats, cast “yes” votes each time.

The Senator’s golf game is not the issue. That Saxby’s personal physician got him out of Vietnam with the bum knee excuse, while he was a college baseball player at the same time; is the troubling, chicken hawk, and cowardly character flaw. Along with the Senator’s commitment to the ever-increasing deficit, which we can no longer afford all lead up to the need to retire him to some golf community where the only cheating he can do is with his handicap.

These days only Ron Paul and true libertarians support the free market. They are the only ones who have pointed out over the years that the FEDERAL RESERVE is the CAUSE of all of our financial problems, never the solution.

Chambliss is too stupid and ignorant to understand that and too beholden to the power brokers to care. Alan will make a fine US Senator. Democrats should also support him as this recent vote only further shows that it doesn’t matter which of the two major parties a politician belongs to, they are all scoundrels. Democrats no longer support peace, liberty, an end to the war on drugs, freedom, or any of the values that Jefferson founded the party on.

Its way past time for every american to abandon the party of their parents and grow up. This is not fun and games anymore. The two supposedly different parties are just one big party working to expand the power and oppression of the state.

The sooner a 3rd party or many 3rd parties get elected to federal office, the sooner we can get busy restoring american’s freedom and liberty.

Vote Buckley.

And I’d be potentially happy to agree with you, except that Ron Paul advocated for people to vote for Ralph “I’m a Racist B******* Who Says Obama would not be a candidate if he wasn’t Black” Nader.

Since Ron Paul thinks Ralph (syn to Spew) is such a great guy, I’m afraid Mr. Paul is not to be admired nor encouraged.

It’s time for Saxby to go! He has 6 years in the senate & became nothing but a lapdog to Bush & became a slave to the national GOP, plus his 8 years in congress. He is part of the problem & it’s time for a washington outsider: Jim Martin.

In 4 weeks our Economy is going to be in worse condition. Everyone I know is ready to throw the crooks out. I just went by the local GOP hq. for some McCain sign, they said no one would take a Saxby sign. Saxby has lost the base with Amnesty, The Farm Bill, the Gang of 10 Traitors and the Bail out Wall Street. Saxby works for lobbyist not the Georgia Taxpayer, he needs to be fired.

Party Loyalty above all.

He showed the party loyalty.

And that is all that matters.

I know that Churchill hasn’t posted here in a month. I am a very sick small man. I also know that Saxby is going to win. My shrink has already decided that he is coming over to watch the election returns on election. My family is pleased. Anyway, I am not even going to bother to vote.
