Tina Fey/Sarah Palin back on SNL: ‘Katie, I’d like to use one of my life lines’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Tina Fey — with her Sarah Palin schtick — may be wreaking more havoc on a politician’s image than any comedian since Chevy Chase caricatured Gerald Ford as a good-hearted but bumbling fool:

No one can logically acknowledge that Sarah Palin is qualified or ready to be the vice-president. The fact that John McCain would choose someone this inexperienced to join him on the Republican ticket undermines his leadership abilities. The Palin debacle alone has most like assured us that Obama will win the election in November.

Sarah Palin is just as qualified to be VP as Barack Obama is to be President. He has been a senator for less than 4 years, has no Executive level experience, and not 1 major accomplishment since he has been in the Senate.

“Sarah Palin is just as qualified to be VP as Barack Obama is to be President.”
Take off your partisan hat and really consider that. Have you seen how well-versed Senator Obama is in national issues? Have you seen how Sarah Palin can’t even recite talking points without a script, let alone actually discuss policy? It’s hard to argue that her experience as governor has prepared her for national service yet. Maybe one day, but she seems to need more seasoning.

Rich…SO, what you are saying is that because Obama can actually recite talking points automatically makes him MORE qualified??? YEAH, that’s exactly who I want to lead my country!! Someone who can learn, but has absolutely NO experience. Have you forgotten Bill Clinton ran and became President of the United States AND was a GOVERNOR…ya’ll all thought he was qualified!!!!

Palin’s lack of experience is a problem. Her (seeming) lack of interest and intelligence is an even bigger one. What an affront to American women! I can guess she will be willing to take the Cabinet moose hunting or bake cookies for heads of state, but come on! Don’t we at least want someone who can string together a coherent sentence, unlike what we have had the last 8 years? Don’t we want someone who can at least MEMORIZE her lines?

I hear a lotta complaints of how bad Washington is. Palin’s the only 1 of the 4 that doesn’t come from the entrenched Washington mentality. Compared to “Washington” standards, no she’s not experienced. Just seems to me that “experience” hasn’t served us very well lately. I don’t see a lack of “experience” as being a bad thing.

If by “well-versed” you mean clueless, then I’ll have to agree with you, Rich. However, if you, like so many Americans, are simply swept away by the smoothness and youthfulness that Obama brings to the table, then I urge you to actually dig into the issues at hand and the experience that each candidate brings to the table, or don’t vote. If there is one thing that will drive this country into the ground faster than anything else, it is the lack of awareness of its voters. Most Americans simply turn on the tv and believe exactly what they hear. Two-thirds of Americans recognize that the media wants Obama to win. The (educated) silent majority will speak up this November, and our country will be spared for 4 more years.

Far from being the “quick learner” the McCain campaign says she is, Governor Palin has shown, in every interview she’s given, that she is in fact as dumb as a post. Obama has Biden out there to be his surrogtate, but McCain can’t ever let Palin out of the campaign’s control because, when he does, that’s exactly what happens…. she’s out of control.
Whe would be out of her league if she got on the panel of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” If she was an actual contestant, she would be totally stumped.

Except that Tina Fey comes across as the unattractive version of Sara Palin, with her desparate angry liberal attack on Gov. Palin. I mean get real, Fey is a commedian, Palin is a Governor. One of them does real life important things, one of them makes jokes and ridicules people in an effort to advance her own personal political agenda. I can’t even watch SNL anymore as it is just a bunch of political hacks, I watch political stuff all week, when I watch SNL I want to laugh not see another hour and half of politics from people with little or no world view or clue.
So keep it up Tina Fey, they more you do what you do the tougher and smarter she is going to look when she rips Joe “I saw Roosevelt on TV during the Depression” Biden apart in the debate.
Everyone will tune in expecting the goofy and stupid Tina Fey and will be shocked to see the real Gov. Palin instead.
As far as I am concerned Tina, you just killed an otherwise great career and I will never watch or buy anything from you again, you are petty shallow and pathetic.
You will never be seen in the light of the early greats of SNL, who I won’t even mention in this post as you don’t deserve to have your name listed next to theirs.

Obama has as much “Executive Experience” as McCain. He has been a legislator for 12 years at both the state and national level. Sara P. is 3 years removed from being PTA President. The guy with the Executive Experience we’ve had in this job the last 8 years didn’t exactly hit it out of the park. I say let’s take intelligence and composure over head-strong and obtuse any day of the week…

Tina Fey ruins SNL. Totally unfunny. It’s not just her maniacal pro-Democrat views that are forced on the viewer. She is just not funny. When she was the head writer, the show flat out sucked. Now that she’s left, it is really funny with a great cast again.
That is, until slash-face turned up again to throw a bucket of water on the whole thing. It’s a shame.

On the other hand 4 Colleges in 6 years most notably the University of Idaho?! Mayor of a town with 3,000 people Governor of a state of 600,000 people Unknown on the national stage and just getting a passport in 2006
Only in a country with deep racial resentments could an unqualified white woman even be MENTIONED in the same sentence as a black man as accomplished as Barack Obama. Seriously Rick, if you were a hiring manager and you saw those resume’s you’d hire Sarah Palin? If so, you’re an idiot and all those who think she for one second is ready to serve as a vice presidential candidate are idiots

Folks, there is something that you need to know. That person in the video is not really Sarah Palin. She is a comedian, who does a wonderful parody in attempt to make Sarah Palin look foolish.
That said, Tina Fay may have done more to turn this election around than anyone. Things started going downhill for McCaain/Palin right after the first spoof.

I am a Palin supporter and I think this is great comedy! Tina Fay has her spot on. I hope she continues the role for the next 4 to 8 years. There is no doubt Sarah will have on the job training in foreign policy in The White House. Just as Barrack would have as well. I for one am comfortable with leaving foreign policy affairs to McCain and his advisors. What I am most excited about is Sarah’s ability to handle the Country’s Checkbook. Let her at that thing! That is her specialty and we desperately need that.

Thom. Political parody is an art form that few nations have managed, not because it is particularly difficult, but because many nations throughout history have persecuted and imprisoned the performers. The performers such as Tina Fey merely reiterate the issues others have identified. It may not be your cup of tea, but I would be willing to bet you enjoyed other political parody, when they went along your political grain. So the problem is not with political parody, or with Tina Fey. It’s with you and your partisanship.

Ok… Let’s slow down a second. We all know why McCain picked Palin, and we can’t deny it. Face it. If this is McCain’s first official important decision, does this make him a good leader? Also, what does experience have to do with anything? If one has experience, that’s good, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are good at something/would be a good leader. I MEAN, HE PICKED PALIN! If you really care about experience, what does Biden have? Obama said in public, he did not want a VP that agreed on everything, so this way he could see an issue from multiple sides. McCain publicly said Palin was a nice person once you got to know her. Bold: McCain only met Palin two times before picking her. Just do the right thing when you vote.

McCain is not going to win the presidency. The votes simply won’t be there. He doesn’t have true leadership abilities. He may have been a great war hero but Commander in Chief is not a reward. He showed poor leadership when he selected Sarah Palin to join him on the ticket. His declaration earlier in the week that he would suspend his campaign was silliness. In truth he didn’t suspend a thing and when he flew to D.C. he had little to add to the bailout discussions and by some observations even hindered the process. Like it or not, Obama will be President of the USA come January.

southpeach, I see little to admire about Ms. Palin that sets her apart from a hundred other women of modest accomplishment and little intellect. Could you give us a list of her exceptional (above the average) accomplishments in leadership? We certainly have female mayors more accomplished. We certainly have female governors and congresspeople more accomplished. What sets her apart from them (in a positive way)?
She’s had a big family. Well, many crack mamas have done the same. She’s sending a child off to war. Many mamas have made that sacrifice. She gave birth to a retarded child while in her 40’s. Lots of women have done that. She hunts. Many women do that, too. She has been a small town mayor. Ditto on that. She has been a governor. Nothing extraordinary there, either. She does not seem to be well-read in current events, and she is certainly not a Rhodes scholar. She looks good, but many women present well.
What is exceptional about her in a positive way? What makes her a good choice for VP? If she were male, with the same “credentials”, would she be a good choice for VP?
BTW, her being a Republican does not win or lose her points with me. I just want a female candidate that is not a JOKE.

This egregious spoof of Governor Palin just shows the liberal agenda of SNL. Why didn’t they do a skit spoofing Joe Biden’s stupidity in saying that during the Great Depression FDR went on TV to reassure the american public (no TV and FDR wasn’t president).
By The News
September 28, 2008 1:20 PM | Link to this
NBC is the propaganda arm of the DNC. SNL is just the comedy division doing what all the divisions do: unfairly promote one political party over the other.
This has been the case since 1968.
The best thing this race has brought in front of the American public is this undeniable bias that has unfairly attacked the Republican party in the news and entertainment divisions of all the major networks.
But oddly enough, there are many Americans who do not put any special trust in the propaganda that has been pushed on them. In spite of this overt media bias, Republicans have held their own and with the introduction of just one single cable outlet, the Republicans took over a 40 year domination of Washington by a very liberal Democratic Party.
So now networks like NBC have cranked it up several notches because the cat is out of the bag. Why hold anything back if you are no longer hiding the fact that you are completely owned by the DNC?
But McCain is still holding his own against this massive campaign staged by a media that completely dominates in the ratings over that one cable News outlet.
Many Americans are smart enough to think for themselves.
And then … there are the Democrats.

Are some of you people in a parallel universe? As a woman, I would love to see another woman rise to the position of president of this country. But I want the right woman! For Gov. Palin to say that because of proximity, she is an expert on foreign policy? That’s like me saying that I live next door to a hospital so I am a cardiac surgeon. Would you come to my office for consultation? I feel sorry for her because she is allowing the party to make a fool out of her. If she had said, “Thanks, but no thanks” to the invitation to be on the ticket, I could respect that. That would allow her the next four years to put her house in order to get ready for some type of run in 4 years. Sen. Obama as inexperienced as he may be, has surrounded himself with those that will shore him up in the areas where he has weakness. And people, please don’t start talking about the campaign staffers on his side that may have done questionable things. Both campaigns don’t tell the whole truth. Both campaigns have people that have done questionable acts (like continuing to accept money from Fannie and Freddie up until a couple of months ago). Sen McCains decision to name her as his running mate was irresponsible and wreckless. He’s not a young buck and he has pre-existing conditions that may cause him to not complete his term should he be elected. I don’t want this woman in place that talks about Russia coming into U.S airspace when we know that an international incident would occur if it were to actually happen. But folks she doesn’t know that. It okay if I don’t know McCain’s record, but she needs to know something other than a couple of talking points that someone told her. Stop the partisan bullcrap and look at the real!

The real funny part of the Tina Fey skit is that she actually used some of Palin’s real answers. Fey’s answer to the bail out question is almost word for word how Palin answered the question.
Obama was president of the Harvard Law review, holds 2 degrees, fought for the unemployed during his youth, spent 12 years in the Illinois State Senate and then 4 years in the US Senate. To say the Palin who has a mediocre college career at best, where she bounced from college to college, competed in beauty pageants, was in the PTA before becoming mayor of a tiny town for a few years before spending 2 years as governor of the most corrupt state in the nation, is just silly. The only reason she ended up as governor was because her opponent got caught in a corruption investigation, and Palin happened to be the nobody who was running against him in the primary. She has no accomplishments at all!

A couple of things - To everybody who thinks Obama will run the country into the ground - impossible. We are already there thanks to Repub economic/foreign policies.
To everybody who thinks the “media” is manipulating an election for their own benefit you are a fool. The media reports what the people who watch it want to see - our media is driven by ratings. If people didn’t agree with what they say then they wouldn’t watch/read and the companies would go out of business. I find it odd that people hear one pro-obama comment on the news immediately label it as the liberal media. Case in point - CNN has Jack Cafferty and David Gergen so then obviously CNN is bad (never mind what Leslie Sanchez or the other conservatives on this show say) Or let’s take the SNL thing - everybody bashes SNL as being the “liberal media” - 1st of all it’s a comedy show (although not a funny one anymore) but they’ve always bashed all politicians - Clinton, Ford, Reagan, Bush, Perot, who can forget Darryl Hammond’s Clinton? So is Palin off limits? In the same episode I saw their debate skit and bashed Obama. But you all don’t want to pay attention to that. Plus isn’t Lorne Michaels a McCain supporter? Yeah - that’s the liberal media ain’t it?
Next for the guy who said check the issues - that Obama should scare you. I did. I read McCain and Obamas plans for every issue they’ve got on their sites and check factcheck.org regularly for criticisms of these. There’s nothing scary about Obama’s positions. I think you haven’t checked out Obama’s plans - you are believing whatever McCain says.
Finally a little insight from Websters for those who seem to think liberal is a bad word - liberal - open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values : they have more liberal views toward marriage and divorce than some people. • favorable to or respectful of individual rights and freedoms : liberal citizenship laws. • (in a political context) favoring maximum individual liberty in political and social reform : a liberal democratic
So let’s not banter this about as a boogie monster word - if you disagree with any part of this definition then you may be a fascist

Stephen said, “Alaska is our first missile defense against that side of the world. Do you know who is head of that?? Sarah Palin.
Dont say she wont be able to handle foreign defense…she already is.” You must know more about missile defense than I do as you make such a strong statement. I just don’t see it being possible that a governor of any state is in charge of missile defense for his/her state. I think they leave that to the higher-ups in DC and elsewhere. Think about it, she may be close to Russia, but she doesn’t get to determine who gets bombed.

You cannot compare Palin with Obama. Obama is a US Senator that has an EXCELLENT command of ALL the issue whereas Palin knows NOTHING (see Couric and Gibson interviews)!! It’s almost laughable her knowledge for a VP candidate (or a knowledege US citizen). Even if you are a Republican, you should be very worried if that ticket wins because she is a HEARTBEAT of a 72 year old man away from being PRESIDENT. Give me a break!

You are going to be crying, “why why why, he said he was for change”. “We have been attacked again and he’s doing nothing about it.” “My mother died because of his healthcare plan”. Or lack there of. One just needs to look to our neighbors to the north so see how well his healthcare plan is going to work. And here is my favorite, “why am I paying more in taxes??” “Why don’t I have more money at the end of the month?” “Why can’t I find a job?” You DemoRats are SAD and will get what you deserve, just don’t come crying to us because your life will suck more than it does now.

“Rich…SO, what you are saying is that because Obama can actually recite talking points automatically makes him MORE qualified???”
No. I’m saying that Obama has discussed national issues in-depth for more than a year, on the national stage, and demonstrates competence. That is, in a substantive and sophisticated fashion well beyond talking points (and ignoring style altogether). Palin has not yet done so, other than the poor efforts with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric, and a few quick questions from a press gaggle last week. Rather than discussing things thoughtfully, she tries to recite talking points and gets tripped up. She may be fine without them, but it seems she’s being trained to use talking points to her detriment. There is, so far, no evidence in interviews or public appearances that Palin can discuss national issues well without a script. The closest was Hannity, who was more cheerleader than journalist.

By the standards of high school and college debating, and moot court, Barack Obama Jr. is a super-star. He could easily have, like John Edwards, become a multi-millionaire trial lawyer. but, here’s the question again - “What has Barack Obama ever DONE?”
For that matter, what has Joe Biden ever done? Answer - sit in the same taxpayer-subsidized chair for 35 years, and vote the interests of Delaware banks such as MBNA, that screw us once a month!

Hey Guys!
Fact check- Bush with his C average and governor experience has the country in a war we shouldn’t be in (based on lies) and on the brink of a financial meltdown. So you obviously need more than practical experience You need a brain. Clinton is a lawyer and Oxford graduate. He also left this country with a surplus in the billions. Obama is a Harvard grad. Palin went to several community colleges prior to finally getting her journalism degree. Common sense should tell us who has the ability to digest large amounts of complex information, learn very quickly, has the composure needed for diplomacy. We need someone who can lead us with knowledge and intellectual ability in these complicated times ahead. McCain has experience, but wants to live in the past. We need to move forward.

I am amazed that people will hold to their idiotic opinions instead of realizing that a vote for the wrong candidate can mean 4 more years of an economy that is already in the toilet. McCain (BushIII as I call him) is not qualified and birds of a feather (Palin) is flocking with him. She can’t answer a simple question. She was asked what she would do for women’s rights and she stumbled while McCain said she was a point guard on the girls basketaball team…WHAT?!?!? Palin is no more than a distraction and air in a campaign that McCain was losing. If McCain gets elected, all the people that (1) didn’t vote, (2) voted for McCain, 3) chose Palin just because she’s a woman will be sorry when gas reaches $8 a gallon (remember Bush with his “gas will never reach $4 under my administration” and more job losses, companies closing (WaMu, Washington Mutual, Bill Heard Chevrolet), more foreclosures, higher utility prices, food prices, etc. I can’t believe people are so easily distracted. These are our lives we’re talking about and the future for our children. Those who don’t vote because they think Obama has it in the bag, wake up, it’s a trick. You have to register by October 6 to vote. Every vote does count. Last time Bush won some states by less than 50,000 votes and Georgia has over 300,000 unregistered voters!

The major thing about Sarah Palin is she has no excess baggage to carry. Biden, on the other hand, has been in Congress most of his life and has made millions of promises that he will attempt to keep at taxpayers’ expense. Fresh faces and ideas are what we need in Washingont rather than continue the same old party partisan politics as we have had to to ednure since the Demorats took over Congress., basically killing the economy. You’re right about that…and she doesn’t have any common sense either. SHE CAN’T EVEN ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM A REPORTER! The woman is LESS than qualified to run a small town. After one term she left her little town 20 million dollars in debt! Think what she could do to the Federal Government! The joke is that she is more qualified than Obama because she has been governor of Alaska for 20 months.
Obama worked his way through Harvard, worked as a (rediculed by Republicans) community activist, a civil rights lawyer, 8 years in the Illinois Senate, 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor and 4 years in the US Senate.

Stop trying to convince yourselves that Sara Palin is ready to be VP. On CNN one commentator said she is a quick study, but that ability has not helped her one bit with voicing her knowledge on foreign policy and national security.
It is very evident that some folks would prefer to not elect Sen. Obama because of his race (period). It is time for us to finally vote for someone intelligent. Someone that will put the consumers (not the giant corporations) needs first. We know if Sen. Obama becomes President his job will be more difficult than ever considering the present state of affairs, but with solid advisors- America will rebound and rebuild.

Do you really think it’s fair to saddle the modern Democratic Party with the sins of its Southern wing in the 1920s-1950s? We all know that the racist segment of Dixiecrats fled the Democratic Party once it came to stand up for civil rights. It’s like blaming the modern GOP for the Great Depression since it started under Republican Party rule in the 1920s — it’s one heck of a stretch to conflate the modern party with its counterpart 80-100 years ago.
If you’re interested in the realignment of the Southern Dems and GOP, I highly recommend the books on Southern politics by Earl and Merle Black (of Rice and Emory University, respectively). They’re available from Amazon and other retailers.

Yes I do think it is fair. Robert Byrd is still in Congress and is called the conscience of the Democratic Party. He participated in the filibuster against the Voting Rights Act of 1964.
Yes, I have heard and read all of the bias propaganda about how all the democrats became Republicans after Nixon. It just ain’t so. Of all the Senate members, House Members and state governors that made up the Dixiecrats, almost none became Republicans. Jessie helms became a Republican when he became a proponent of integration, agreeing with the Republican Mantra. .
George Wallace ran for President as a Democrat and once as an independent. He was never a Republican.
if you do some simple fact checking, you can clearly see who among those Dixiecrats died Democrats.
The current state of affairs of most Black people, particularly in the South is a direct result of the policies of the racist Democratic Party. The Average Education level is horrible. Black kids go to bad schools. The Georgia House was dominated by Democrats until 2000. How was the education of Black children compared to White children in 2000?
The unwed birth rate and the lack of a strong family structure is a direct result of the policies that rewarded such behavior. Those policies were the policies of the Democratic Party.
I think people should be very aware of the people that caused the problems. They caused the problems because of a history of class warfare and race baiting. That is exactly the same thing they are doing now.
So yes, it is more than fair.

All of this so called “experience” is now costing the American taxpayer $700 billion dollars. I think we need to take a page from the Falcons playbook and bring on a fresh face rookie. At the end of the day so of these guys are going to end up in a jail cell just like the former Falcon quarterback. For those that will vote for her “regardless” of how ignorant she appears during questioning: I hope you think about your children that are going to suffer for years to come if she becomes president. I guess she will “get back to ya” when she tried to nuke the Russians.

News,
You’re ignorant and you don’t know what on Earth you’re talking about. Sure you can bring up a few examples such as Robert Byrd, but the modern Democratic Party in Georgia and throughout the south has virtually nothing in common with the dixiecrats of old. BTW, most of the rednecks with Confederate flags on their trucks and clothes vote Republican.
With the exception of Carter in 1976 most of the south hasn’t been carried by a national Democrat since 1964. The Civil Rights act turned most white southerners to the Republican Party at the national level.
If you think the modern Democratic Party in Georgia and nationwide has anything to do with the old dixiecrats you’re just plain misinformed and need to read a little bit more.
BTW, After the south turned on the Democratic Party after Civil Rights it took the Republican Party a while to gain control at the state and national level throughout the deep south. The GOP didn’t have any infrastructure in the south in 1964 and even in the decades following in local and state elections throughout the south you had to run as a Democrat to get elected. These post-dixiecrats in the south were more conservative than many of the Republicans in state legislatures across the south.
In Georgia Republicans finally gained the State House in Georgia in 2002 for 3 reasons. Conservative white southern Democrats either retired or got beat. After the election a number of rural white Democrats switched parties opening up the current margin in the state house.
In the Georgia State Senate Republicans didn’t win the majority in 2002, but newly elected Sonny Perdue bribed a number of conservative rural Democrats to switch parties given the GOP it’s first majority.
The Democratic majority in Georgia in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s was more moderate than national Democratic Party, but it wasn’t like the Georgia Democratic Party of the 40’s,50’s, and 60’s. It was a diverse coalition of conservative rural Democrats of a by-gone era, white liberals from in and around the perimeter and African Americans.
The Republican Party in Georgia merely took in the last of the white southern conservative Democrats and that’s why they dominate.
Most of the people in Georgia who voted for George Wallace that are still alive are now Republicans. The children and grandchildren of the people that voted for Wallace for Nixon during his “Southern Strategy” are not Republicans.
Sorry News, but the Georgia Republican Party has much more in common with old “dixiecrats” than the modern Republican Party. If that hurts your feelings I’m sorry.

I had a typo I accidently put
“Most of the people in Georgia who voted for George Wallace that are still alive are now Republicans. The children and grandchildren of the people that voted for Wallace for Nixon during his “Southern Strategy” are not Republicans.”
The children and grandchildren of the white southerners who voted Wallace and for Nixon during his “southern strategy” are a large part of the modern base of the Republican Party in the South.
I said it before and I’ll state again. Confederate Flag waving rednecks and people that were confederate flags on their clothers are almost all Republicans. That’s just a fact. Southern Democrats are dead. They all became Republicans. The modern Democratic Party in Georgia and natinally has virtually nothing in common with old dixiecrats.

most of the rednecks with Confederate flags on their trucks and clothes vote Republican
And you know this … how? Poor Rednecks are usaully on welfare. So please explain why welfare recipients would want to vote for the party that is against welfare.
*The Civil Rights act turned most white southerners to the Republican Party at the national level. *
So please explain why the Georgia State House was dominated by Democrats until 2002. That’s 40 years after you claim that they jumped ship to the Republican Party.
All I’m trying to do is to get you to think for yourself and stop listening to the BS. Some people may never do that. But never believe what I say, but PLEASE if you are not so indoctrinated as to be afraid of the truth, check the facts.
Most of the people in Georgia who voted for George Wallace that are still alive are now Republicans.
I disagree. You are wrong. Most of the people that voted for George Wallace are dead. He hasn’t ran for office for almost 50 years. You had to be 21 to vote so the youngest persons that voted for George Wallace are now 61. The majority of the voting block is 45 years old. Those people would now be 85-90 years old.
Think!!! Stop quoting Salon.com and THINK!!
You are never going to hurt my feelings. But please consider the cultural aspects of the modern South.
What party still dominates the City of Atlanta? What party is still the main driving force of our state educational system, one of the worst in the country? Now that the majority of state offices is held by Republicans, how many of the offices are filled with Black people. Republicans mean integration. The South is now integrated. Duh!?!?
I understand that no Democrat likes to look at what incredible damage your party has done to the country. As I said before, look at what shape Black America is in.
When you drive through parts of Atlanta and see miles and miles of ghettos filled to capacity with unwed mothers, criminals and thugs that threaten not only their fellow Black neighbors, but make this one of the most dangerous cities in the country, I don’t think it is unreasonable to examine the reasons that this part of our society is still so incredibly far behind the majority of most White Americans.
And now look at the modern policies of the DNC. School vouchers would mean that Black kids could attend the same great schools that White kids attend. Who is against school vouchers?
Who is not voting for Obama because of his race? Republicans cannot be expected to vote for a Democrat. So why is the race so close? It is Democrats that are jumping ship to vote for the White guy.
Sorry News, but the Georgia Republican Party has much more in common with old “dixiecrats” than the modern Republican Party. If that hurts your feelings I’m sorry.
Are you really saying that modern Republicans are trying to stop Black students from attending schools? Are you really saying that Republicans are sicing dogs on Black people because they want to eat at a drug store counter?
Statements like that not only show a massive misunderstanding of how the dixiecrats operated, it is almost sacrilege to the people that were beaten almost to death to obtain the rights that Black people enjoy to this day. And the White people that fought by their sides against the Dixiecrats were Republicans, many that came down here from the Republican dominated North.
In the two years that Democrats have controlled the Congress, we have watched a stable economy take a nose dive and the people that are suffering the most are poor people. If you think the DNC gives a damn about poor people or Black people, you are simply not paying attention.
The easiest way to win an argument with a Democrat is simple. Just point to what democrats have done and just say: How is that working out for you?

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times — I want my “President” & my “Vice-President” to be at least as smart as me or smarter. We’ve already seen the example (up close I might add) of a president who was suppose to be like the everyday man (GWB)…you know - the average ‘Joe’. The President shouldn’t be like the everyday Joe. There should be something special (hopefully intelligence & and a boat-load of common sense) that separates him/her from the average Joe. Palin is simply a female version of W. Simply put, she’s an idiot. I just assume my leaders not be freakin’ idiots. Nothing personal; just a matter of preference!

I wasn’t going to respond to this editorial but there are so many I feel that do not reflect how Americans really are. First of all, Geraldine Ferraro was the first American female to appear on either ticket, so she is the history maker; secondly; Hillary Rodham Clinton was the first American female to appear on either ticket for President in the history of the United States - history; thirdly, Barack Obama is the first Africian-American man to appear on either ticket as a candidate for President of the United States-history again.
Let me remind each of you this is the country of opportunity, otherwise why would we have illegal aliens rushing to come here - they want a piece of the pie. If our enemies were truthful, they would tell us they are envious of what we have. America isn’t easy. You’ve got to really want it to obtain it.
The Republicans have set out many firsts I am sure - the first actor to ever be President and I am sure there are many more firsts, I just have no clue what they are. The Democrats provided the first female VP candidate, the first female President candidate, and the first African-American candidate for President. They have always looked out for the middle and lower class Americans. Those of us who do our best but, at times, still cannot function with what we have are always a consideration by the democrats. The major difference I see in the Republican and Democratic party’s is this - the Republican party is a party of “elitist” to use the word bantered about by them so much lately, they only allow a few members in the ranks and tolerate those Americans they believe are less than the “elitest”. Those folks get to work at the campaign offices, knock doors, put signs on the roadways - to be frank, they let them gopher. The Democrats have always been the party of the people. They embrace every race, gender, religion, a person’s right to choose, sexuality, etc.
As far as Tina Fey goes, I am glad she is doing a stint on SNL, this country needs to laugh. Sarah Palin put herself out there so she better grow a tough skin. Besides, don’t you remember she calls herself a “maverick”. It comes with the terrority. SNL has always made fun of politicians, so get over it.
Grow up.

As far as I can tell, Sarah Palin has not stopped abortion in Alaska. As to the race issue being the problem, the only people mentioning race is Obama..”oh by the way, have we mentioned he’s black?”. So white people are racist if they vote for McCain because he’s white, and blacks who vote for Obama because he’s black aren’t? Is Obama ashamed of his middle name? He didn’t seem to be until it became politically expedient to do so. His father was a Muslim, Obama’s half siblings are Muslim. When Obama was adopted by his step-father in Indonesia at his school he was registered as Muslim. Do I believe he’s Muslim now? NO, because he says he’s a Christian, and spent 20 years in a Christian Church. A rather racially divided one, but a Christain Church none the less. Obama says he’s his brother’s keeper, well, one of his half brothers lives in a hut in Africa on one dollar a month. Yes, Obama was a community organizer for A.C.O.R.N., anyone familiar with them? So, when will SNL be attacking Obama? Why are the left so hateful? Why attack people so viciously, it’s not very becoming, and it’s a scary thing to think such hate filled people want to be in charge of the world. So, Sarah Palin scared you? Do you think Obama/Biden aren’t scary to Republicans?

To those claiming that the Democrats were the first to put an African American (or female) on the ticket:
YOU ARE WRONG.
As a matter of fact, CYNTHIA MCKINNEY was the first African American, AND the first female to be nominated by an established party as President of the United States. (Libertarian/Green party historians, please correct me if I am wrong there.)
As a matter of fact, the Green Party was the first party in the history of this country to nominate an entirely female (and entirely minority) Presidential ticket (McKinney’s running mate is a hispanic female).
The FACT of the matter is that mcKinney was nominated sometime around April/May. Hussein Obama was not nominated until the end of August.
