‘Drill here, drill now’ has paid off — for McCain, and for Gingrich’s group
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich hosts his second annual American Solutions gathering at the Cobb Galleria on Saturday.
Gingrich touts his group as a non-partisan, intellectual clearinghouse that just happens to provide Republican candidates a good many talking points.
Look for the Wall Street bailout to be a big topic at the free event, even though John McCain has profited more by chanting American Solution’s mantra of “Drill here, drill now.”
Gingrich hasn’t done that badly by it, either. Says the Center for Public Integrity:
The slogan “Drill here. Drill now. Pay less.” is fueling Gingrich’s American Solutions for Winning the Future, a so-called 527 group not subject to federal campaign finance law and its limits on donations. So far this election cycle, it has raised $13.1 million; only two other 527 groups, both liberal, have collected more money, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
While the sum pales beside the cash amassed by the largest of the 527s that so dominated the political landscape during the 2004 presidential race, American Solutions has raised more funds than the best-known unregulated conservative political group raised at the same point four years ago: Swift Vets and POWs for Truth. The Swift Vets, which ultimately spent $19.3 million on TV advertising attacking Democratic nominee John Kerry’s military record, had raised only $8.8 million by the end of September 2004.
Las Vegas casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson remains Gingrich’s biggest financial backer. He’s donated $4.6 million — of that, $750,000 came in August.

Hats off to Gingrich! He is proving himself to be a leader and not a politician. I don’t care if he is using it to run for future office etc. (as many claim). His effort is to educate and join people of common belief. I am relieved that he has come out with the common sense conclusion (against a sitting President) that we dont need to jump to bailout a greedy financial industry with a bill that prepetuates their greed(have to admit i did read and agree with Jay Bookman’s column on that one)Hey Newt- pay Sonny a call- Mr. Corruption needs some tips on how to be an authentic conservative- wait, only ma ma and daddy could have taught him that! Stay home and help your state!!!

I can’t name one thing that Newt Gingrich has ever done to benefit the average American citizen. His whole career has been spent talking and building political machines. He has accomplished a lot for himself and his political party (both positive and negative) but for the country, nothing.

Pierre DuPont hired Gingrich, and installed him in Congress, to shill for America’s Fifth Column moneyed false-elite.
Writing letters and analysis to gull the People, he is a pervert who has always used his intelligence to betray Our Founders’ vision, on behalf of evil: a moral defective, always ready to proclaim his patriotic sentiment, who knocked up his high school math teacher to dodge the Vietnam draft, and divorced her as soon as DuPont delivered him to Congress.
Not of Georgia, he is proof whitetrash seeps out all over America.
One can easily wonder that his friend Adelson, a Las Vegas casino billionaire extremely sensitive to any hint of unrighteousness in his own past, has no problem supporting one with such a completely corrupt known history as Gingrich and his universal immorality.
Or, as an American making billions in China, while apparently trying to “smother” the State of Israel with his money, has failed to demonstrate any interest in bringing to justice the faction of false Jews there in the Mossad, or the State of Israel’s “PNAC branch,” who obviously helped Bush commit 9/11 (Viz. the dancing “eerily prescient” videotapers on van-top in NJ caught by authorities and deported).
Gingrich is scum and should be shunned…
Birds of feather flock together.

Newt would not know an intellectual if he ever had a chance to meet one because he won’t talk to anyone unless the conversation starts with something like “We will win the war against Northern Aggression, Sir, You have my word.”
