11Alive: Obama trailing McCain in Georgia by 16 points
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Yet another poll shows Republican presidential candidate John McCain with a commanding lead over Democrat Barack Obama in Georgia.
The new survey — commissioned by WXIA-TV (11Alive) in Atlanta and WMAZ-TV in Macon, and conducted by SurveyUSA — puts McCain at 57 percent , with Obama trailing at 41 percent.
The same poll puts the U.S. Senate race thusly: Republican incumbent Saxby Chambless at 53 percent; Democrat Jim Martin at 36 percent; and Libertarian Allen Buckley at 8 percent.
The fortunes of Chambliss and McCain are linked. This is from the 11Alive analysis of the survey:
The poll shows that McCain holds a 3-to-1 lead among white voters in Georgia, while Obama has a 23-to-1 lead among black Georgia voters.
The poll shows McCain with a double-digit lead among both men and women, among those of all age groups and educational levels across the rest of the state of Georgia outside of Metro Atlanta.
According to the polling data, Obama’s strength in Georgia comes among moderates, where he is up 5 in Metro Atlanta. Obama also leads by 5 points across Metro Atlanta in general.
Among pro-choice voters, Obama’s lead stretches to 14 points. Among lower-income voters, the two candidates are tied. Among voters who are focused on the volatile economic situation facing the nation, Obama trails McCain by 3 points, but among voters who think alternative sources of energy are more important than off-shore drilling, Obama leads McCain by a 2-to-1 margin.

Of course, this poll and other polls only include people who answer their phone even if they don’t recognize the number or if it’s an 800 number. That might be an interesting survey in itself. The SurveyUSA website is pretty interesting reading, though.

I’ve never understood why the south continues to vote against their interest election cycle after election cycle. The people continue to struggle with Georgia having an unemployment rate of 8.5, yet Georgians rather vote for someone who looks like them or they feel comfortable having a beer with rather than vote for someone who could actually move the country and our economy in a more positive direction. It’s mind boggling!!!

The South has been voting Democrat for the last 50 years up until a couple of years ago. I think we finally got smart and saw through all of the Democrat bulls*.
Except for the city of Atlanta this state is in fine shape. The unemployment rate is high because we aren’t hiring illiterates any longer, you know, the ones who want to work enough to get crack money then collect unemployment.
Go sit at the unemployment office and tell me you would hire any of those people to work for you.

And just WHO is in the ‘interest’ of the South?
The liberal DemoCan who wants Big Brother to control your life from cradle to grave?
OR
The nearly-as-liberal DemoCan who ALSO wants Big Brother to control your life from cradle to grave?
OR
The only conservative in the election, the only true SECOND party candidate, who wants YOU to control your life from cradle to grave?

Double digit leads? Tell that to Roy Barnes and Max Cleland. They had double digit leads in all the polls too, including exit polls. Then a funny thing happened…
Diebold had a patch.
This state is no better than a third world country. I believe we qualify for observation of our elections from The Carter Center.
This state will continue to vote against its own best interest because the Republicans have done a fine job at taking away money year after year from education so that we continually churn out some of the dumbest idiots ever to grace this earth. Keep the people stupid and entertained (and don’t forget afraid) and you can control them however you like.
Personally, I don’t want my leaders to be someone I could have a beer with. I want my leaders to be the smartest mofos in the room and you don’t get that when you vote for cheerleaders and moonfaced bubbas!

Bill said: “It is called Racism…..I for one hope that all poor white trash keeps voting Republican…” I find this comment interesting when the poll shows that McCain holds a 3-to-1 lead among white voters in Georgia, while Obama has a 23-to-1 lead among black Georgia voters. If there’s racism, wouldn’t it be more logical to say those voting 23-1 are more guilty than those voting 3-1? Wouldn’t it be more logical for the group of people who have been voting Democrat for the past 40 years and still complain about the same problems?

It’s not racism.
Maybe it’s the fact that most Georgians can make decisions for themselves and don’t need the government to buy them a house, provide them health care and give them free handouts.
If you need the government to hold your hand and spoon-feed you everything, go ahead and vote for Obama.

Hey ME, what’s mind boggling is that people actually believe that Obama’s approach to economic policy will actually improve the economy. Even he acknowledges that raising taxes in the way he proposes will reduce government revenues, but he still want to do it because it is more “fair”.
Bill, I think that the 23-1 margin to Obama for black folks is evidence of RACISM, isn’t it?

It always amazes me that Democrats result in accusations of racism and ignorance to explain their lack of support. You can’t bring yourselves to admit that rational people might disagree with your political philosophy.
I am an educated, white, conservative Republican. I have absolutely ZERO problem with a black (or any other “color”) or woman president. I just don’t want a LIBERAL president.
When you suggest “voting for your own self-interests” perhaps what you mean is voting for the party who promises the biggest handouts?
You also often resort to outright lies or misinformation to try to make your point. Just so you know, ME, the current unemployment rate in Georgia is 6.3%, which is the highest rate in 15 years. (http://onlinepressroom.net/gdol/)

Racism, buzz word of liberalism! People are running away from Obama because they see with the McCain/Palin ticket people who have ACTUAL leadership (i.e. executive or military command) abilities. Can anyone name one, only 1 specific accomplishment in office (legislation he proposed or co-authored), or any leadership role Obama has held? Just one, please! BET YOU CAN’T!!! Here’s my last thought: If you, or a dear loved one, was in the hospital in need of life-saving surgery who would you prefer to handle the job, a doctor fresh out of medical school that has a knowledge of all the theory and applications of medicine, or would you want a doctor with 20 + years of actual experience in handling the particular surgery your loved one requires? If you have to think about the answer to this question, please run onto Spaghetti Junction during rush hour…particularly in front of a semi or two!! OF COURSE YOU WOULD WANT THE EXPERIENCED SURGEON TO HANDLE THE JOB!! McCain is that experienced surgeon! He has been a military officer in the Navy (leader), he has been in the senate for over 20 years where he has authored numerous pieces of legislation (whether poplular with Republicans or not). Barack began running for president after only 143 days of actual time on the job as a US Senator! He hasn’t done anything that gives him the experience to be commander in chief! He (OBAMA) couldn’t lead starving refugees from Darfur to an all you can eat buffet at Shoney’s! Come on ya’ll, we’re not voting for American Idol here, we’re looking to vote for the next commander of the greatest, freest, and most powerful country in the world: THE USA!

Why can’t the media provide coverage on Joe Biden’s faults while going out of their way to try and torch Palin? Biden flunked a class in law school because he plagiarized 5 pages (out of 15 total). He claimed to graduate in the top half of his law school class but it was actually 76th in a class of 85. He flunked ROTC in college (not commander in chief material, obviously). Google it!

Unfortunately, so many in this state will vote for anyone that is opposed to abortion. That is why GA went from a blue state to a red state. There is no live and let live in this state, the right is going to continue to try and force their religious beliefs down our throats and elected officials will do and say nearly anything to stay in office. I am an independent voter who definitely would not want to pay for those who don’t “deserve” my hard-earned money. Maybe those states that vote for McCain can afford to have their Soc. Security privitized or their health insurance benefit included in on their income tax. I can just imagine how many people would be moving to New York, for example.

This is what John McCain will do to us. Read it and weap for this country should he be elected.
The McCain health plan would treat employer-paid health benefits as income that employees would have to pay taxes on.
“It means your employer is going to have to make an estimate on how much the employer is paying for health insurance on your behalf, and you are going to have to pay taxes on that money,” said Sherry Glied, an economist who chairs the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
Ms. Glied is one of the four scholars who have just completed an independent joint study of the plan. Their findings are being published on the Web site of the policy journal, Health Affairs.
According to the study: “The McCain plan will force millions of Americans into the weakest segment of the private insurance system — the nongroup market — where cost-sharing is high, covered services are limited and people will lose access to benefits they have now.”
The net effect of the plan, the study said, “almost certainly will be to increase family costs for medical care.”
Under the McCain plan (now the McCain-Palin plan) employees who continue to receive employer-paid health benefits would look at their pay stubs each week or each month and find that additional money had been withheld to cover the taxes on the value of their benefits.
Still want McCain as your president?

Enough with the RACISM…It is RACISM on both parts!!!
There are alot of Blacks who are voting for Obama because he IS black - that is the undeniable truth….BUT There are a lot of whites who are NOT voting for Obama because he IS black….
Sadly, it doesn’t matter if Obama has the credentials to lead this country out of economic poverty because there are states such as this great state of Georgia where people are not comfortable voting for someone of color. And before anyone mentions that Mr. Obama is half white, it is also a known fact that if you are mixed race you are viewed by your white counterparts as BLACK.
Stick to the facts and respect each others Votes!!!

I would hope that all would do their own research before selecting the candidate who would best lead this country. With that said, please don’t give me that rhetoric that Obama is for higher taxes (he wants to increase it for those who make $250,000+) and that Democrats are big brother with big government. Is it not the Republican president we have at the present who is bailing out just about every company whose CEO’s have run them into the ground yet still get double-digit bonuses and severence packages?
Who every you vote for, I hope it’s not for the color of his/her skin or gender, but what they can do to help our economy and the depreciation of the dollar, education issues, unemployment and outsourcing, the war, our diplomatic status and allies within the world, and all of the other crap that has come up within the last 8 years.

RPFO, you are a fraud. I went to the web site you mentioned, here is the abstract of a different independent review of Obama’s plan:
The health reform plan put forth by Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) focuses on expanding insurance coverage and provides new subsidies to individuals, small businesses, and businesses experiencing catastrophic expenses. It greatly increases the federal regulation of private insurance but does not address the core economic incentives that drive health care spending. This omission along with the very substantial short-term savings claimed raise serious questions about its fiscal sustainability. Heavy regulation coupled with a fallback National Health Plan and a play-or-pay financing choice also raise questions about the future of the employer insurance market.
From The Obama Plan: More Regulation, Unsustainable Spending
To answer your question, yes I still want McCain for my president.

All one has to do is listen to this blog and understand why the south votes democrate. A lot of ideas, yet no truth. Its about ignorance. I want to say this is a race issue, I KNOW its a race issue. But what is scary is how the south is viewed by the world. We need to wake up. Deciding not to vote for someone over beer, stating that all unemployed individuals are on crack, the south voted democrate for the passed 30 years. People wake up! These statement are false and support the fact that we are ignorant and need to do research. I mean the president pretty much influence each and every aspect of your life. Do some research, educate yourselves…WITH FACTS. If you choose not to vote for Obama, do it for the right reason.

I am a black female who was born and reared in Chicago. This is especially for my people: Please quit labeling people racist because they do not want to vote for Obama. Guess what, I am black and have voted Democratic in the past but I do not support Obama. Colin Powell was solicted within his party to run. The reason: he has solid accomplishments in which no one could even question. Barack is very inexpierence and did nothing for the State of Illinois. I don’t care what color he is, he has not accomplished anything. It’s not the “blackness” but the “factness” Zell Miller told us that the Dem Party was broken and everyone got mad at him. He was right because Barack is the “weakest” candidate to be running.

One (McCain) just reinforces the same garbage we’ve been hearing for the past eight years; and the other (Palin)…jeez…how much time do I have? If you genuinely believe that these two display “actual leadership,” there’s no reason to waste time trying to convince you otherwise.

I believe you have all missed the major portion of this story. Libertarian US Senate Candidate Allen Buckley has gone from 3% in the August polls to 8% in this poll. A five point jump is newsworthy. If you want change, vote Libertarian. If you want an end to pork, vote Libertarian. If you want an end to the kind of cronyism that brought us the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae debacle, vote Libertarian. Or you can spend your time bickering and finger pointing in the traditional Demican-Republicrat fashion. Stop by Allen’s website and see for yourself.

Georgia can be won by the Dems in 08.
If the primaries are any indication, the Dems got 100,000 more voters to vote in the primaries in GA, (1.06M to 960K).
It was Huckabee, not McCain, who won the repub primary in GA, and McCain came in second or even a distant third in the primaries in many counties.
Bush won GA by 548K votes in 2004, and voter registration drives have added over 400K to the rolls.
So It’s not gonna be a slam dunk for McCain, no way, no how…..

New York AG Launches Probe of Short-Selling
to this article
By STEVENSON JACOBS The Associated Press Thursday, September 18, 2008; 3:24 PM
NEW YORK — New York state is launching an investigation into whether some traders used illegal tactics to drive down the stock price of several Wall Street firms.
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo told reporters Thursday his office has received a “significant number” of complaints about short sellers, or investors who hope to profit by placing bets that a financial company’s stock will fall.
Short-selling is not illegal. But Cuomo said he will focus on whether short sellers engaged in conspiracy or spread bad information to influence the stock prices of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., American International Group Inc., and other firms that have been hammered in the ongoing financial crisis.
“I want the short sellers to know today that I am watching. If it’s proper and legal, they have nothing to worry about,” Cuomo said. “If there’s a conspiracy to spread false information to destabilize these institutions, that may very well be illegal.”
Short-selling has been blamed for steep drops in the stock price of several companies, most recently Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley.
Short-selling occurs when traders borrow shares of a stock they expect will fall and sell them. If the stock does indeed fall, the traders buy the cheaper shares to cover the borrowed ones and profit from the difference. Naked short-selling occurs when sellers don’t actually borrow the shares before selling them.
Britain’s Financial Services Authority said Thursday it is temporarily banning short-selling of shares in publicly traded financial companies.
FSA chief executive Hector Sants said his organization still regards short-selling as a legitimate investment technique, but he says “extreme circumstances” have required new rules to protect against further financial turmoil.
Speaking to reporters, Cuomo said he believed the federal government has been “ineffective” in overseeing short sellers and said his office would go after traders found to be illegally using the practice to manipulate markets.

To BJ,
I think you miss the point. Race is an issue, but voting for him does not make you racist. Perhaps, ingorant but not racist. Fact of the matter is experience is a reasonable factor, but to support McCain and his warped view of the world is ridiculous. When I say race is an issue, it is because you listen to people making false allegations. Like I stated in my post, the false allegations are negative towards democrates.
If you truely believe race is not an issue and McCain and Palin have a better fix on what America needs, then so be it. But dont assume that I am saying every McCain supporter is racist. I dont generalize. I am an african american female, I support Barack Obama, not because of his race, but because he has inspired more people in this election on the basis of unity. That is a beautiful thing, and beauty is bi-partisan.

I shouldn’t have to pay for them. We vote McCain/ republican, not because we are racists (I am a black woman) but because we hate working hard to pay for someone else who doesn’t work. minimum wage is not meant to be a head of house hold job!!! Entitlement programs breed dependancy on the government …they are inept at almost everything they attempt to involve themselves in. I am most ashamed of the fact that the majority of my ” brothers and sisters” are voting Obama simply because he is half black. Now that is racist!!!

Okay all you Obama freaks. Let me explain something the media won’t. Big corporations and manufacturers will not pay taxes no matter how much the government tries to make them. Any tax charged to them is passed to the consumer. Heck, that’s you and me..duh! And if the cost of goods go up because the government increased the tax rate of the corporations then essentially we are paying a higher tax. So don’t let your savior and o’holy one fool you. There is only one God and he ain’t it and there is no free lunch.
And for you pro-choice folks saying McCain/Palin would illegalize abortion. Not hardly. What they would do is get the Federal government out of the State’s right to make their own laws. It is very possible that Conservative State’s like GA. would at least ban partial birth abortions, but it is very doubtful that a total ban would take place in any state.
Oh BTW, I think point fingers about the current economy is fruitless since it solves nothing and anyone over the age of 40 can see many ups and downs regardless of who was in control at the time. One of the worse economic times in recent history was the late 70’s and I believe a democrat was in charge. but if anyone wants to point fingers, most of todays problems have occurred in the past 2 years. Which is funny, that is about the time that the Dems have ran Washington (the President doesn’t write laws). In fact isn’t that the exact time frame Obama has been in office. Things that make you go hummm!

Wow, there is truly a great deal of emotion out here. I’ve been telling my friends this election is going to be metaphoric bloodsport, and indeed I’m right. It makes for interesting entertainment, which I might add is at the core of our problem as a nation. I’ve managed to see a few critical thinkers out here as I’ve perused the posts. Unfortunately, just as my brother Remus often says, the majority of our own, American citizens of all ethnic/cultural backgrounds, are spoonish porch-monkeys, the voting un-informed. They are the mindless rable escorted to the voting booth through the diligent efforts of the get-out-the-vote crews. Elections are a popularity contest, and with predomination and proliferation of infotainment through mass-media they’ve become even more-so. We call ourselves having meaninful discourse over lipstick on pigs, the so-called lack of true heroism, adonis personalities, 17-year old mothers, commoners, beer-drinkers, and evil faux-muslims, fist booms, and doctored pictures. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME! People, we’ve got to stop. We’ve got to stop … and start thinking, or rather thinking critically. How should you vote? Dispel Boortz (even though I like him), Hannity, Mathews, Obermann, and most especially Limbaugh (ugh!). Don’t let these people think for you. They are entertainers. That’s right, they’re entertainers! You are not being a great American if you don’t take the time to think for yourself. And that is what Boortz asks you to do. So go do it. Please place no credence in spoonish garbage. Go to the websites of each candidate, since all of you are web savvy. Look at thier platforms. Study them. Then, enjoy the debates, but don’t be swayed by eloquence. Look for clear discussion around what’s in thier platforms. Make up your mind based on who has the best ideas vetted through your own personal filter. Use essential cognition to decide for you, your family, and your community. YOU DECIDE. Don’t let some micro-mind decide for you. Please!
And note following: Sarah Palin is a very good looking, well-meaning mother, governor, and wife. She is not that experienced given what she has governed. Her education leaves a lot to be desired. She’s considered book-banning, and is a creationist. Still, at heart, I think she’s a good person, and would mean well for this country. However, it’s about what she will do for the country going forward.
Joe Biden is a man that overcame stuttering, immense personal tragedy in the loss of a wife and infant child, and imminent death due to multiple aneurysms. The man has inner-strength, as well as very white-bright smile. He wants to do what’s right but is indeed a part of the establishment. The question is can he really bring change?
Barack Obama is electrifying. He has a past that seems right out of a story, or a morality play … yes he can. He has ideas that are different. Will they work? Conduct you own analysis. Find out if his plans work for you and yours. If they don’t, then you know who to vote for.
John McCain is a hero … bottom line. He has courage. He has strength. He has character. Is he brilliant? Is he innovative? Ask yourself these questions. Can he lead. Without a doubt. Is he the leader for you? You decide.

You are stupid. Here we have a man that will not make it the full term because he is tooo old. Then he being not smart picks a VP candidate that is trashy. McCain, can’t even use a computer, and Palin is a liar. Don’t you see that if they are elected into office that things willnot change, they will only get worst. I’m sure you have relivative that have lost thier jobs and maybe even lost thier homes as a result of this Party. But as we all know there a lot of unintelligent people out there that contines to vote these people into office.

You decide.

Do you have a rudimentary understanding of his ideas based on you own analysis and not someone else’s regurgitated diatribe? Georgia is predominantly republican; at least those who vote so this is not news. Besides, the Electoral College ultimately decides who get’s in the White House and Obama leads; not by much but it’s still a lead. I am not worried about Georgia. Obama and Biden will be in the White House. With each passing day Republicans are beginning to take their blinders off and admit the crap that McCain has been peddling. McCain and Palin have been their own worst enemies and Republicans know that deep down. Its ok Pubs, walk into the light. The light is your friend.

How the economic-political curve ball will break after Election Day sending some of us to the poor house and some of us to the concentration camp we will explain in intellectual terms so as to not have the requisite panic needed to do something about it be dismissed as sheer insanity or the words of juvenile spammers. I always find it interesting when someone refers to the lack of experience of Obama or Palin. The present Bush administration has one of the most experienced management teams that has ever come into office, and there is little good to show for it. President Carter had more experience as as state governor than Palin, but his is not remembered as a particularly successful presidency. President Lincoln had relatively little experience. There are qualities, surpassing experience, that can a person may possess that will lean towards success in the presidency. I believe both Palin and Obama can be successful as president or vice-president. The decision really comes down to whose policies you prefer.

I am writing to give all of you some information on Sarah Palin, Senator McCain’s choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I know more than most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that he picked her. The most accurate description of her is red neck. Her husband works in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and races snow mobiles. She is a life time member of the NRA and has worked tirelessly to allow indiscriminate hunting of wildlife in Alaska, particularly wolves and bears. She has spent millions of Alaska state dollars on aerial hunting of these predators from helicopters and airplanes, dollars that should have been spent, for example, on Alaska’s failing school system. We have the lowest rate of high school graduation in the country. Not all of you may think aerial predator hunting is so bad, but how anyone (other than Alaska wolf-haters, of which there are many, most without teeth), could think this use of funds is appropriate is beyond me. If you want to know more about the aerial hunting travesty, let me know and I will send some links to informative web sites.

In my humble opinion, we have two choices that are only concerned with the advancement of their own parties. Give each other credit where credit is due and stop with the partisan BS. True change from both sides would be providing free college loans to those in debt and not billions of dollars of taxpayer money to corporations paying CEOs millions in bonuses and making bonehead financial decisions. Change would be putting country first, by making English the official language. Change would be not using private email for government business and being a more open government. Change would be laying out legislative agendas and budgets, not just giving a talk that says “I am change.” Change is admitting when you are wrong and the other side, instead of attacking, saying, thanks for being honest, what can we do the help make sure it does not happen again. Change would be taking religion out of politics. Change would be Hollywood out of politics.
I want to believe in change. But I am afraid the only change I will find on November 4th will be in my pocket.

I’m truly embarassed to be born in Georgia and lived her most of my life. The only reason Georgians ever voted Democrat was out of resentment for Lincoln and Reconstruction. Georgia Democrats (Zell Miller the last of a dying breed) have been the epitome of conservatism and hawkish foreign policy. They made McCain look like a left wing nutjob in comparison. It wasn’t until the Civil Rights era when Northern Democrats embraced blacks that suddenly white southerners found themselves needing the Republican party to further their interests.
Some of you complain that the Democrats are big gov’t and will put everyone on the gov’t dole. The honest truth is after 8 yrs of Republican rule, we’ve lost more fundamental rights and spent far more money pursuing an aggressive global policy that’s created far more enemies than made allies. We step all over the Constitution when it comes to due process and privacy but the 2nd Amendment is apparently the Gospel. McCain fought hard to deregulate everything he could under the auspices of free market. Unfortunately the market that were created from this deregulation turned out to be very flawed and billions were lost overnight.
We haven’t fixed energy policy, few of those on Wall St will ever be held accountable for lending our retirement money to complete morons and con-men and few people are making more money than they were in the 90’s.
As a single male w/o property, I already pay over 25k/yr in taxes w/o much in benefit. I should be embracing the McCain camp’s promises for tax breaks. Instead I know that the gov’t has been buying up Humvees, jets, and bullets under my name on credit and that I’ll wind up paying a lot longer if I just make the minimum like McCain proposes.
He hasn’t provided any actual policy to reduce spending outside trying to root out waste. Pork barrel costs 20B/yr…Iraq War does far more than that in a few weeks. We haven’t fully accounted for the medical care (remember costs go up 5-10%/yr) of the tens of thousands of injured troops that will require medical care for the next 6-7 decades.
Obama may be inexperienced but McCain has had nearly 3 decades to make a difference and he’s now embraced every failed policy of the current administration. I personally am willing to take on an additional tax burden if it means something different.

No, the Republicans save their government hand-outs for their corporate millionaire buddies, such as yesterday’s $85 BILLION purchase of AIG. Even a Republican rep from California was quoted in The Hill as saying: “I have a problem with privatizing profits but socializing losses.” That GOP hand-out alone rivals anything the Dems have floated with regard to health care coverage. I HATE hypocrites, and spin-master Republicans and their ignorant minions are the biggest hypocrites of all.

2 years ago everyone wanted change. They went to the polls and booted the Republicans out and got their change. While Bush carries a dismal aprroval rating below 40%, our current congressional members approval rating is below 10%. I do not always agree with McCain… I have a problem trusting anyone who hops into the political bed with the likes of Ted Kennedy. However given the state of our economy, national secutiry, broken social security system, goverment corruption, illegal immigration that is our of control, and a failing education system; he is the better choice in this election. The polls should not be as close as they are, but thanks to CBS, NBC, and CNN Obama is hanging in there. People really need to look and see what the candidates are really proposing, who really gets hurt, see what NBC and CBS does not tell you…like the 140 million dollars that Fannie May and Freddie Mac has contributed to Obama. The ex CEO of Fannie May belongs behind bars in my opinion, yet he is an economic advisor to Obama. CBS also neglects to tell the people about Obamas voting record. On the few issues he actually took a stand on in the Illinois State Senate included a bill banning early release for convicted sex offenders for good time served…one rep voted against and that was Obama. They neglect to talk about his record on late term abortion, because it is an issue to graphic for most to stomach. I could go on and on, but the people need to see for themselves. NBC and CBS will keep on with the stories of Pallin’s daughter, and ex brother & law. They will try to take the focus on Obamas lack of experience and focus on the VP candidate rather than the Presidential candidate. Obama campaigns for change, yet him and his running mate seem to highlight the problems in Washington.

I will take my facts over anyone’s opinions anyday. The facts are that the economy has historically run better under Democrats. The Republicans sell us on low taxes and then spend like crazy while calling themselves conservative. The Democrats have to come in and correct things to restore balance to our economy. Have you seen the deficit lately? Well…just a reminder, there was a surplus when Clinton left office. I suggest reading factcheck.org. It is unbiased and could give a hoot about Hannity’s opinions. Hannity is in it for the $. He doesn’t care about us. He lies and distorts and is running this country into a pit! Wake up, people. It is not about party, it is about people!

I hope they don’t buy into this attempt to win women with a female face that stands against what most Georgia women care about, their children’s education, healthcare, the economy, all of the things we have to deal with everyday. McCain is TOO old to be President. 72? Reagan was senile after 2 years in office and he was younger than McCain. I wouldn’t let my 72 year old grandfather drive my go-cart, let alone drive the fortunes of Americans. 8 years ago he was a decent candidate. But now At 72? In the words of Whitney Houston “Hell to the naw”!
We need someone with a different vision to take over. Not some old man born before WW2. That’s probably why he changes his position so many times. He can’t remember what he said 24 hours ago. But go ahead GA Repubs, give the old guy your vote.

When are you conservatives going to stop with the same ignorant talking points? Your Republican party is the one that wants to tell me what I can and can’t do in my bedroom, tell women what they can and can’t do with their bodies, wastes endless money on a pathetic drug war, and so-forth… BTW-You can’t have low taxes when the majority of your budget is fighting wars and paying interest on all the darn debt that your party has so wonderfully wrung up over the past two plus decades—minus the years, that yes, a Democrat had the budget balanced….!
Did it even dawn on you that there are many of us so-called left-wingers, liberals, that are socially liberal and economically conservative. I bet I’m more economically conservative than most of you Hannity and Boortz drones out there.

sorry for the 140 mill, it was actually 105 making him 3rd leading congressional member in money received from Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac since 89. Quite an accomplishment since he has only been in office for a little better than 3 years now. One more year many specualators beleived he would have topped 140 and moved into first on the list. Heres your list if you need proof. http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/07/top-senate-recipients-of-fanni.html Now notice where John McCain ranks on this list.

“Call it like it isn’t” - Give up…everybody knows Bush and Cheney committed 9/11. If by some stretch of imagination you aren’t just pretending to not know it, read Emeritus Professor David Ray Griffin’s “The New Pearl Harbor.”
His scholarship stands as credit to his many decades as a highly esteemed professor, distributed by highly reputable publishers, at California’s Claremont School of Theology, and is an excellent logic primer for any challenged in that discipline.
Any who read it…and it is very well written…know with absolute moral certainty, from the evidence and information available to the People…that Bush and Cheney committed treason. They didn’t just know about it and let it happen. They did it.
“Married to the Mob” McSame wants to keep sending us to die for their lies of WMD to keep Afghan heroin flooding our streets and Iraqi oil at $4 a gallon for gas profiting Roman Catholic/Rockefeller Big Oil?

News flash for those who keep repeating the old “Democrats are socialists” drum: We, the American people now own controlling shares in two huge mortgage companies (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) , a major insurance company (AIG). Does this sound like the Soviet Union? Bingo! Today we are bailing out the failed economic GOP strategies to the tune of billions of dollars. The “hands off” policies of the “no Regulations please” Republicans failed. Handouts?!?!?! No body of people in the U.S. gets bigger handouts than the major corporations who run the Republican party. Stop worrying about somebody getting $200 in foodstamps and open your eyes: You and I are paying the biggest tab EVER on a bunch of lazy, selfish, greedy losers who convince people like you that the problem is “welfare mothers” while they are laughing all the way to the banks (that we are paying to bail out).

GA is a very oppressive place for anybody who is well-educated, libertarian on social issues. GA is firmly controlled by the ignorant White apocalyptic mega-churches in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. Their issues are all about abortion, wasting trillions more in Iraq-a war based on lies, and “fixed” intelligence (still no WMDs found)….AFter the election, I’ll take my highly marketable skills and move to a Blue state. GA is no place for highly educated, productive people.

The funny thing is, when you vote for a RepubliCON, you are voting for the biggest handouts of all, corporate welfare.

Bitter liberals cling to their handouts, their hatred for America and their bigotry toward normal Americans. This blog is just more of the same bitter hatred. I hope that the mainstream of America is seeing the maggots that crawl out from under the rock that is most liberal website and the filth that passes for discourse on their blogs. Anger and hatred are not policies.

Republicans and Democrats aren’t really any different on welfare…THEY BOTH WANT HUGE GOVERNMENT — it’s about helping the rich or helping the poor…Republicans like to help the rich, while Democrats like to appear to help the poor (and that’s all there is — rich & poor — there is no “middle class”) It’s really a matter of who you don’t trust the least (i’ll take obama on that) even though it’s particularly hard to have faith in a system where ONLY the electoral college chooses the president…
WE SHALL VOTE TO BE HEARD AT LEAST,
SO, REMEMBER WHAT WE ARE VOTING ON :
REPUBLICANS = PRO WAR / ANTI ABORTION / CORPORATE WELFARE
DEMOCRATS = ANTI WAR / PRO CHOICE / SOCIAL WELFARE
Those are the issues…plain & simple…everyone needs to stop masquerading as if it’s any more complex than that.
Race is only an issue for Racists…and sadly, there are still plenty of those in Georgia…and on this blog…

Man where are the handouts. As a college educated black man, I can’t find these handouts that blacks supposedly get all the time. I’ve worked for 3 very well known companies here in Georgia. In all of those companies the directors or Managers who were white had NO college education. However, if I wanted to apply for their position I definitely have to have a degree. Sounds like affirmative action to me. Several predominantly white colleges have set asides for children who wouldn’t otherwise get in. These are legacies or children of people who have previously attended college. Most are white. Some don’t have the grades. Can we stop that affirmative action?
I will submit to the “Logic” “not rants” but logic of one person who can tell me that Obama’s economic plan for the country is worse than McCain’s. After W passed his corporate tax cuts for companies who shipped jobs overseas, my whole division was laid off. Before we got our severance packages we had to train our replacements from India. How do you reward an American Company for shipping American jobs overseas. This is treason if you ask me. McCain will keep this take cut in place by his own admission. Obama will remove it, and increase the tax cut for companies that bring jobs back. Now most of you who have been laid off and lost jobs overseas share my frustration. You know Obama’s plan in this area is best. McCain is this week talking about regulation Wall Street after 26 years of passing bills to deregulate it. People my lose pensions and everything else with AIG. They should have been regulated a long time ago. The only reason McCain is saying this now is to get votes. Obama’s tax plan reduces taxes on anyone who makes under $250000. That would be me. You also don’t pay any taxes if you are a senior citizen and make $50,000 or less. The most taxed in the country would be the top 0.1%. I can live with that. The reverse is true of McCain’s plan. Taxes do go down in McCain’s plan but not as much for those under 250k. The top 0.1% barely get taxed. If McCain had Obama’s plan everyone would be on board. Eveyone knows McCain’s plan is crap. But he is white. I was taught growing up that in the south in particular, white people would rather go to hell with a white man than to heaven with a black man. When you white people who make 25000 to 100000 vote for McCain in November. You will prove this true.
Please somebody logically prove me wrong.

Toward the end of C-A-C’s rant he reveals the true racism of the Democrat Party. I am not not going to vote for Obama because black. I am not vorting for him because he is a corrupt liberal. It is his ideology that I disagree with. Obama has surrounded himself with the Top Dogs that ran Fannie and Freddie into the ground. Why in the world would I want those types fashioning economic policy?
In the future C-A-C, keep your racism to yourself. The racism in this country is on the left. Don’t believe me, think back to the racist/sexist Democrat primary. After your little primary you liberals lost the right to lecture anyone on race.

I call on Obama to fire Mr. Raines and Jim Johnson. They took advantage of the system (Fannie and Freddie) and need to be punished. If Obama is all about Change he will not mind removing these criminals from their advisory roll in his campaign. Let see how Changeable Obama really is. If he does not then Jesse should go ahead a cut his n*ts out like he wanted to. We must have Justice!!!!!!!

Rarl Kove,
Rants?? LOL. That’s pretty funny and what racism? I am telling you what I was taught. I’ve grown up in GA, I don’t know where you are from but you can’t fool me. I was born in 1970. I was called the N word a lot. I went to school with children of klansmen. These white klansmen will tell you that same thing themselves. The only thing I am saying is that if you look at facts and what the candidates have done and are saying, Obama is the better candidate. Biden is considerably more qualified than Palin. If Obama were white, McCain would not be close. The only way he would win some whites is if his name was Leroy Johnson from Cairo, GA. He would at least be American enough. I’ve heard people say that they won’t vote for Obama because of his name. Please provide proof that I’m wrong. This is not a rant. Just a calm and rational analysis.

People are not going to vote for Obama because he is northern liberal, C-A-C. Just like McGovern, Dukakis, and Kerry. This is a center/right country. Obama will suffer a loss based on his politcal stances, not the color of his skin. You guys on the left will blame the loss on racism because it is easier to do that than examine the weakness of your own candidate.
As for Biden, the man is a gaff machine and has brought nothing to the Obama ticket. Biden will pop off at the VEEP debate and Plain will make him look like the fool he is.
I am so sick of the left playing the race card. Play it your own primaries all you want, but do not try to use it on us. Like I said, you guys have lost that right.

Dear Community Organizer:
During the Republican National Convention Senator McCain and Vice Presidential nominee Governor Sarah Palin once again demonstrated the need for change. Their smear tactics of Senator Barak Obama and mockery of community organizer’s across this country should not be ignored and should be addressed. Civic leaders of the Democratic Party recognize that both civic and political responsibilities are associated with creating safe empowering communities. While good politician and public administrators are critical to the governmental process; they are not miracle workers. They need the support of community organizer’s.
Project Soar in Atlanta will be launching a community organizer’s campaign. Project Soar is working with local churches and other Community Resource Centers to address both voter registration and getting individuals to the polls on election day in November.
The Project Soar community organizer’s campaign will address the need for change in the community by demonstrating what we do best and that is mobilizing. Each organizer’s services will help:
• Inspire and motivate residents to take ownership of their community • Expose the similarities between a Mayor and a community organizer • Create new passion for civil rights • Continue to strengthen our capacity building structure within a community • Eliminate the lack of voter participation in this country
The community organizer’s campaign needs your help in mobilizing transportation assistance between church’s, assisted living communities, housing authority residents, and those with disabilities in getting these individuals to the polls. We ask that you connect with any community resource center in your area to serve as a base structure to accomplish this goal. America does not have the luxury of procrastinating on this effort. We are up against a wall to almost do or die. Whether or not we like one another personally, we need to once again join forces and make this happen. Search and Recruit individuals and organizations with certified drivers and an available van or bus the will be committed to this partnership. The effort is not completed by only registering individuals to vote, if they don’t have a way to get to the polls the day of voting. Community organizers of all ethnic, racial and faith backgrounds must send a message to Capitol Hill as to why grassroots leadership is invaluable.
Project Soar will be handling all the administration, logistics, and scheduling in the Southeast Atlanta region. We need your support to help further these efforts to build stronger communities. For more information about this community initiative please call 404-567-4225 to leave a message or email project.soaratl@yahoo.com of your interest. Please forward this to friends, associates, professionals and others who believe in the power of community organizing.

Every voter should answer two questions: 1) Do you believe that you are better off than you were 8 years ago. 2) if no, who do you believe can bring the desired change in the policies?
While McCain has tried hard to steal Obama’s message of change, McCain has not outlined even one change that he will bring to the policies. McCain compaign is being managed by exactly the same people who managed Bush’s campaign. Do you want to be better off in September 2012 than you are today. Now is the time to decide.
