Newt Gingrich: On pigs, lipstick, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich had a session with local reporters this morning.
More details will be posted later, but since lipstick and pigs seem to be the topic of the day, here’s what Gingrich had to say about it — as part of a larger discussion about the tone of the presidential campaign:
“My personal guess is, for example, that [Barack] Obama probably wasn’t referring directly to [Sarah] Palin. He was referring to McCain’s policies. But that Palin’s use of the hockey mom-pittbull story had lodged in the back of his head the lipstick idea.
“And it surfaced in a way that’s now gotten him 24 hours of really dumb — I watched last night at one point on [Fox News’] ‘Hannity and Colmes.’ When you have a 12-minute debate over whether lipstick on a pig refers to a demeaning comment about the vice presidential candidate, you know we’re not talking about health reform, we’re not talking about energy policy, we’re not talking about balancing the budget.
“And you know, it’s fairly stupid. And I give the news media a fair amount of credit for this
Yet Gingrich was willing to cut at least one presidential candidate some slack when it comes to putting the feed down low enough so that the goats can get at it.
He continued:
“On the other hand, the candidates are going to respond to market realities. It’s a market reality that the 30-second McCain commercial with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears stopped the Obama campaign in its tracks. That it somehow magically caught, in a very common cultural phenomenon, an instinct people had.
“I would have, frankly, tried to elevate the debate, because I think you can beat Obama on big issues rather than clever gimmicks. But it was a gimmick that clearly, literally, stopped the momentum of the campaign. And they’ve never fully recovered from it.”

Wow, even Gingrich is admitting how desperate the right-wing hysteria has become.
This is gonna be soooo easy…. Obama doesn’t even have to run against McLame (who’s staying in the background of his OWN CAMPAIGN). Laughable.

This is great. When Obama is off the teleprompter he hasn’t a clue what to do. The Obama camp is coming unglued. The Palin pick completely stumped them and now they are in a pickle. Newt simply helped keep the story going and he knows it. And I thought that Biden was going to be the Democrat gaff machine!!

Way to go after those Hillary supporters there, Barry. Is is me or has the entire Obama campaign grown more and more stupid since Hillary dropped out? If Obama is so smart why does he seem to only be able to read speeches and vote to teach 5 and 6 years-old about sex? This is getting good!!!!!!!

Right. So. White Males have done horrible things for a long time.
And now we see that all it takes is a white woman on the VP ticket and Hillary losing to suddenly make all kinds of white women find McCain appealing.
They were for Obama…and now they’re for McCain Palin.
And everything about Palin is on the table.
So…..as a White Male, the next time I’m thinking about lifting that ‘glass ceiling’ that Hillary worked so hard to break, I have to think, “They don’t care about the issues, they just care that she’s a white female….I’m not a white female….so if they’re just going to do things by identity….I should hold onto what power I have while I still have it.”
But of course we’re too polite a society to say that out loud.

This country is going to hell in a handbasket in regards to the real issues we face as a nation, and we are all arguing over pigs, pit bulls and lipstick! I’m disgusted with this country, and quite frankly, am not sure we will survive as a nation until we have leadership that can bring us together to solve our problems.
We all know what Obama meant. He meant exactly what McCain meant when McCain said the very same thing about Hillary Clinton’s policy stands a few months ago. So come on guys. Let’s elevate the debate to the real issues and leave the pettiness in the sewer where it belongs. The future of this country and the welfare of our children and grandchildren depend upon us solving our problems and leaving them with a nation stronger than it is today.

I know what Obama meant, I have heard the saying a lot in my lifetime. I know it wasnt directed at Palin personally. The problem is when the media got a hold of the comment it blew up. Whose fault is it, well I think Obama showed a bad judgement moment but the media is responsible for this more than Obama is.

McCain said the same thing when referring to Hillary’s healthcare plan and there was no outrage whatsoever. When Hillary was called a ()itch McCain laughed and now they’re offended? Spare me..this is nothing but Rovian tactics used successfully against Kerry but Barack responded and now Newt and the rest are whining. Please tell McCain to come from behind Palins’ skirt and man up. I can’t believe Palin would be offended considering she called herself a pitbull with lipstick and everyone thought that was cute..Hypocrisy thy name is Newt!!

Amen Jeff! I used to be an admirer of John McCain’s, though I didn’t always agree on his policy stands. He was above the fray! But after seeing some of his ads here in the Atlanta market that are just full of lies about Obama and not one mentioning what he (McCain) will do for this country if elected, I have lost all respect for the man. He is really Bush III and Karl Rove’s fingerprints are all over him. A quite disturbing visual, ain’t it?

In the old days they argued against giving women the vote because men said they’d act based on emotion rather than reason.
It looks like they were right.
And for that matter, giving the vote to non property owners was a bad idea too.
Fortunately, the party that represents the interests of rich white male land owners is going to win.
Because white women and poor white men are stupid.
As a well off educated white man, I am actually feeling safer, seeing how stupid women really are.

I blame the MAINSTREAM media for making a story of this. Of course, FOX will, but what about McCain making the same statement??
On that note, the wheels are getting a little loose on the Obama campaign (as demonstrated by the 3 a.m. VP announcement).
Obama’s camp has all the ammo on its side, but they’re letting McCain’s team fire the guns. Is this Kerry redux?

I hate to say this, but all of you are wrong!!
We all know what Obama meant, but that’s not what matters. What matters is how people perceive comments, and here’s a great example:
I think Obama looks like Curious George. (remember that controversy?)
I meant what i said, they look alike. Now, how will people perceive my comment?? Some will agree, some will say it’s racist. However the comment is perceived is what it is, and we can mostly thank the black community for that, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all!!
but now the tables are turned. We all know what Obama meant, but i perceive it as a direct attack, therefore, it is!
Prove me wrong, because i can use this argument all day, just like the NAACP uses it to their advantage!

Why a woman would stand by her man even though he beat her, took her money, hit her kids.
She’d lie for him, steal for him, and do anything for him.
And now I know.
Because most of them are creatures incapable of reason. They are as easily manipulated as children.
So that is what they deserve, to be treated like glorified children, little dolls dressed up like pretty models and given credit cards to shop, and given token positions and treated like the lovely ideal trophies that they are.
Women are clearly, CLEARLY not capable of reason.
I imagine some woman after this will comment about the Democratic party being an abusive husband.
I’m sorry, do you think I care what you think? I only care about the opinions of sentient beings.
I’m only posting this to laugh at you.
And I am laughing at you. How sad. How pathetic.
How just.

Palin was the first to set herself up as a pitbull with lipstick. As a woman I found that offensive in itself. Obama used a phrase that even McCain used in the past. It had nothing to do with her. Why are the Republicans screaming about lipstick now? They were the first ones to put it on!! Regardless, it sounds like you can’t use the word “pitbull” or “lipstick” in the campaign any longer or you are offending Palin. Give me a break. She set up the sexism remarks as soon as she mentioned the word ‘lipstick’. Just think of what she is doing for the cosmetic industry now. Maybe they paid her to make the comment in the first place.

Will voters be too heavily influenced by clever campaign tactics that direct attention to drivel and blather rather than issues that impact their lives???
McCain proposes to give the country a boost by cutting taxes on the wealthy and corporations and Obama proposes to narrow income inequality?
Under Obama, the wealthiest 1 percent of taxpayers, those making roughly $600,000 or more, would see their taxes go up on average by $93,709 in 2009, according to an analysis done by the Tax Policy Center, because Obama would begin implementing his tax changes even before the scheduled expiration of the Bush cuts.
Under McCain, those same taxpayers would see an average reduction of $48,860, reflecting in part additional cuts he is proposing.
By contrast, the bottom 20 percent of taxpayers, those with taxable income of roughly $19,000 per year or less, would see their taxes cut by an average of $567 under Obama’s program and $21 under McCain’s plan, the tax center estimates.
For the 20 percent of taxpayers right in the middle of the income scale, making roughly between $37,600 and $66,400, the tax break would be $1,118 under the Obama plan and $325 under the McCain plan in 2009, according to the analysis done by the tax center, a joint venture of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, two Washington think tanks.
Specific policy proposals to enhance our quality of life and keep us safe should be our focus, not drivel and blather.

It’s hard to tell who is more panicked; Obama or his followers. Obama campaigned on change, yet McCain and Palin have stood for change and have a long record of principled resistance to the status quo. The hollow suit has lost the cardboard of “change” that gave him shape and now lies wrinkled on the floor.
This will only get worse as the election continues slipping away from the One.

All is fair in love and politics. When it comes to the Republicans, they can say how many lies they want to make up, they can say how many low down dirty comments they want, but when the tables are switched, they start whining and crying and talking foul. Wake up people, this election should stand for the issues. Not about Sarah Palin being a pig, her pregnant daughter, her snowboarding husband, McCain divorcing his wife after she was disfigured in an accident, Oprah not having Palin on her show….Blah, blah, blah. That is neither here nor there. Those are the issues that I am not concerned about, but about what will happen to my generation and that of my children and childrens’ children. Every time I turn around, someone is on the T.V. whining about what they didn’t like. I wathced Sarah Palin’s speech last week and she came out swinging. And she has used that same old speech from last week at every rally that her and McCain have done thus far. If Oprah does not want her on the show…who in the H*ll cares…go on another show where you have actually been INVITED TO GO…not where you want to go. Palin hasn’t been on Meet the Press, CNN, FoxNews, or any othere reputable television program until 9/11 tomorrow. Total scripted, she’ll be totally prepared. Oh for heaven’s sake, who cares what Newt Gingrich thinks. The man has never accomplished one thing for this country.
Got to give the Republicans credit for one thing, though — they have clearly succeeded in changing the subject away from the issues facing America, and gotten the press to fall for it hook line and sinker. The longer the media chases this latest game of “gotcha,” the longer McCain and Palin can put off explaining exactly what they propose to do about the economy, the federal budget, etc.

If you put lipstick on Newt, what would you have? Gussied-up hypocrisy? Stale, failed ideas on steriods? A has-been with a messy mouth who can’t get his poll numbers above single digits? An old Sean Hannity in drag?
When are we going to start talking about John McCain’s aiding and abetting the enemy while he was a prisoner of war.? Go to www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/. McCain may be a hero to some, but his work for the enemy was treasonous. Too bad Nixon and Melvin Laird let him off the hook. He should not be President. He’s no hero.
The American people are smart enough to see through these Rovian tactics — even if it will take awhile. It’s time for the 527’s to roll out on McCain and the Bush/McCain Party.

How about Palin reducing the number of federal earmarks for her state by half!?! When she took over, there were 50 for Alaska, now there are at 20, and she plans to lower the prok-barrel spending to 14!
Obama-has signed over 100 federal earmarks for pork-barrel spending!! Wasting all your tax dollars on worthless projects, instead of ‘helping the community’ like he claims to do! Oh, did i mention one of those earmarks got his wife’s salaray tripled because it was for the hospital she worked for?? AND HE’S NOT IT IN FOR HIMSELF? Right…
Oh, and Both Obama and Biden voted for the ‘bridge to nowhere’ funding, McCain did not, and Palin cancelled the project because she found out it was a waste!
Go OBAMA!! SPEND MONEY ON NOTHING, BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT AMERICA NEEDS!!
Obama is a waste of all of our time-he can’t even speak intelligently unless it’s written out for him…

Newt’s right, this is all pretty stupid. But it does serve to illustrate the bigger picture: Obama’s spent the last 19 months gliding above the fray, speaking in vague platitudes of ‘hope’ and ‘change’ and ‘yes we can’. When the debates with Hillary got too hot, he simply declared them over and moved on.
Now that he’s in the real fight (and the first tough campaign he’s ever faced), his inexperience is showing; he’s stumbling, confused and off-message. The Dems never imagined another charismatic character getting into the race and now he’s campaigning against her, not his true opponent.
Obama’s just now coming to the realization he’s not the star of this campaign any more.

This clearly has been a rough week or so for Obama. It’s scary to think how rattled he and Biden are right now after a Republican convention that was not covered by the major networks in a positive light. How would they handle a real crisis if they were elected?
The truth of the matter is that on both sides of the aisle, the tickets are weak.
The strongest candidate for President on both sides is Sarah Palin. There is no rule that says a woman can’t be President. There is no rule that says to be President you must be from a big state or a big city. There is no rule that says someone not in the ‘big boys club’ can’t be President.
Bottom line: In Sarah Palin, you are looking at the first female President of the United States in 4 or 8 years.

Barack Obama says that John McCain and Sarah Palin are lying about their records when dubbing themselves as the “original mavericks” who would stand up for hard-pressed voters.
Fine, Obama, you want to back that up?
Let’s start with John McCain, who has a 100% approval rating on pork-barrel spending for the 2007 legislative season, according to Citizens against government waste. His lifetime score is 88%. What this basically means is that in 2007, John McCain voted with the taxpayers 100% of the time. This means that over his years in the Senate, John McCain voted with the taxpayers 88 out of every 100 votes. And when I say “with the taxpayers” I essentially mean he voted in a way that would allow taxpayers to keep their money, rather than spend it on frivolous government pork projects.
Just in case you weren’t aware, Mr. Obama … you scored a 10% rating in 2007 and an 18% lifetime rating. Oh and your running mate, Joe Biden, he actually managed to score a 0% rating in 2007. These really seem like a pair of guys that are trying to create change in Washington. These really look like the people who are looking out for you, the taxpayers.
But then it is John McCain and Sarah Palin who are lying.
When it comes to Sarah Palin, we’ve been through the specifics on this Bridge to Nowhere crap. In fact, the Democrat Party in Alaska acknowledges that it was Sarah Palin who finally scrapped the bridge. That website, by the way, disappeared for a while, until pressured to re-post the page (which they did, only at a different address). But just as a little side note … guess who DID vote for the Bridge to Nowhere. Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Why doesn’t the media bring THAT to your attention. Even when given a second chance to shift the funds to Katrina relief programs, Obama and Biden still voted for the Bridge to Nowhere. While John McCain did not end up voting on the amendment, he is on record opposing the earmark.
When it comes to Sarah Palin’s record of reform … let’s just look at earmarks, since this is something that Palin and her Senate opponents have in common. Before Sarah Palin’s time as governor, the state of Alaska used to request over 100 earmarks each year to be secured by Alaska’s congressional delegation. When it came time for Sarah Palin to request her earmarks for the first time as governor … she slashed that number by half, requesting 54 earmarks. The next year, Palin cut that number AGAIN down to just 31 earmarks. Of those 31 earmarks, 27 of these are continuous or were previously appropriated. When Palin entered the governor’s office, the total amount of quests averaged $550 million a year. That number has been reduced to less than $200 million now that Palin is in office. And it would only continue to decline. One of Palin’s stated goals as Governor is to ask Congress for no more than a dozen earmarks for her state. On top of all that, Palin insisted that each earmark requested by the state of Alaska demonstrate an important federal purpose and public support. Whenever possible, Palin wants to have earmarks only if they can be matched by state or local budgets. And her administration is currently re-examining previous decisions on transportation earmarks … the Alaska Department of Transportation is conducting an audit to determine the status of every single one of its recent earmarks.
Let’s go ahead and take a look at Barack Obama’s earmarks in the Senate. In just three years, Barack Obama has requested over 300 earmark projects totaling $740 million. For the 2008 fiscal year alone, Obama requested 112 earmarks. Sarah Palin? 31.
Just a little something for you have mulling around in your brain as Obama gets all huffy about earmark spending. Sarah Palin actually cuts earmarks, Barack Obama says he supports earmark transparency and then requests almost $1 billion of your tax dollars to be spent on pork projects. Sarah Palin reduces the number of projects, reduces the costs, calls for projects that will only serve the nation as a whole, investigates previous earmark spending … and yet she is the one “lying.”

As a conservative, McCain has irritated me time and again when he didn’t toe the party line. Time and again he was on the Sunday shows as the media’s favorite Maverick. I know it looks great on a bumper sticker, but he’s anything but McSame.
Palin has confronted lobbyist, special interest, redrawn oil agreements, turned down earmarks, sold a plane, and let her cook and driver go to do what’s right for Alaska, and she will do the same for us.
Obama is Ted Kennedy with an excellent ability to read a teleprompter. He has turned down McCain’s invitation to do a Town Hall Meeting every week for fear, because without a prompter he is one big gaffe machine. And as for tax cuts…by letting Bush’s cuts expire he is supporting the largest tax increase in history. And a tax on corporations is a tax that ulitmately will be passed on to consumers. THE MESSIAH IN TRAINING???
Several Democrat political consultants say that Barack Obama spent part of his vacation in Hawaii working on weaning himself off his heavy dependence on teleprompters. Apparently, even at events that are considered “town hall” events, Obama’s remarks are scripted or in bullet points that scroll on the teleprompter. One political consultant said, “He just locks down and can’t get the words out … For such a fine speaker, it’s really quite remarkable that he’s had issues.”
I guess the homework didn’t pay off as well as Democrats would like, considering the fallout from the Saddleback Forum, the “My Muslim Faith” moment on This Week (Sep 7), and his ‘slip lip’ moment on lipstick on a pig moment on Sep 9!
Just think that we are seeing the real Obama – without props, he is just another politician selling his wares … from the southside of Chicago!
Don’t worry … if he ever has to confront Putin or some mad mullahs we’ll make sure a teleprompter is handy.
PS: My wife has now changed her mind on the election — and there is a strong feeling against the Obama-Biden ticket now. (Just wonder how this might affect other on the broader ticket this November???)

The Alaska Democrats acknowledge that Palin put the final rubberstamp on the termination of the Bridge to Nowhere, but that was only after the U.S. Congress refused to provide more funds to it and it had become politically destructive to continue to support it. She most certainly denied any desire to kill the project while she was running for governor or in her first year on the job. And she never offered to return the federal funds that were then diverted to other projects in Alaska, nor did she kill the access road. She was never pro-active on the cancellation to the tune of “thanks but no thanks”.

Neal—McCain has voted time and time again for funding the war in Iraq after he voted to GO TO WAR in Iraq. $700 BILLION and counting, not to mention the opportunity costs and the healthcare costs we will be forking out over the next several decades to rightfully care for our maimed soldiers. The Iraq war is the biggest pork-barrel spending project on the planet and McCain has voted for it time and time again. So it doesn’t get lumped into the budget analysis that Citizens Against Government Waste does, but at the end of the day, it comes out of my pocket and your pocket. As the old saying goes, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a PIG! Iraq has been a colossal failure of judgment from the beginning, thank in part to Mr. MCSAME! Two other things to mull over: John McCain the maverick was too busy doing mavericky things in 2007 to cast enough Senate votes to receive a National Journal Senate ranking. Sarah Palin spent over 300 nights in her own home in her first 18 months as governor. The governor’s office is in Juneau - 565 miles away. I guess governing Alaska is a part-time job. These two mavericks apparently spend more time in the pasture than they do in their offices.

Palin has sought $197 million worth of earmarks for 2009, down about 25 percent from the $256 million she sought in the 2008 budget year. As mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, she hired a lobbyist to seek federal money for special projects. Wasilla obtained 14 earmarks, totaling $27 million, between 2000-2003, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama hasn’t asked for any earmarks this year. The Illinois senator sought $311 million in such funding last year. McCain, an Arizona senator, doesn’t seek earmarks for his state.

Let me explain a little … there is no possible way Obama can only tax the wealthiest 1% of this nation and bring in the big money he’s promised. It is impossible.
‘Poor’ people don’t pay taxes under our abusive tax system anyway … especially tax evading squatters commonly called illegal immigrants. They should be called thieves.
If you tax ‘middle to upper class’ Americans the direct result is they buy less. Who cares, you say? You do. If you work in a restaurant, clothing store, any place of business that offers goods or services to the public … your company will make less money which will directly result in losses to you as an employee, possibly your job. That’s a promise.
On top of that, Obama’s corporate tax, death tax, and every other tax he can think of will further deplete the pennies we have left in our pockets. There is one thing I know for certain—there is not a single American out there that doesn’t look at their pay stub and have a negative thought when they see their hard-earned money robbed from them. Not a single soul.
I really could care less who is the next President because it doesn’t have a direct impact on my day-to-day life (other than taxes). I place emphasis on my vote in local and state elections because they truly impact my life.
For those of you that are undecided, make a list of the most important influences a President can make on your life, put them in order of most to least importance and research the candidates (Yes guys, this is only Obama vs. McCain). Go directly to their web sites and hear from the horses mouth … don’t go to biased media sources, go direct. Some of the most important influences from a President are (in no particular order) States’ Rights, Education, Taxation, and Foreign Policy and Security. I guarantee you in less than an hour you’ll determine your pick. FYI … this works, even for those who think they’ve decided.

Let’s see… a man who told his wife in the hospital with cancer that he was leaving her for another woman he’d had an affair with is standing up for a man who left his beauty queen wife, disfigured after a car accident, for a younger beauty queen wife, who has now found a new, younger beauty queen with great relish, it seems, is telling us what is sexist and what isn’t.
Here’s the fact: They are doing their best to make us forget Geogia is No. 3 in foreclosures and that McCain’s own staff is a lobbyist for the old Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Fool me three times? I don’t think so.

Is Obama brain dead? What a silly mistake. He is out there trying to win over Hillary supporters and goes and insults a woman. I thought he was smart.

Has everyone gone just stark raving mad? I am so sick of all this lipstick on a pig mess, till I can just throw up.Has anyone ever heard of “sticks and stones…”guess not. I will vote for the first person who comes to their senses, and stop all this frigging idle chit-chat, because it sure as hell is not about the issues anymore.

Obama may be a Muslim. He hates women like all fundamentalist Muslim men. He degraded Hillary and now he is doing it to Palin. Lipstick? Pig? Really Obama? You should CHANGE your choice of words.

This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous and just makes McCain look like a complete and total fool considering that he has made the same comment on more than one occasion. Anyone who sees that video knows that Obama was talking about the change issue and not about Palin and anyone who actually believes that he was talking about Palin is just a completely and total idiot. And this coming from someone who is not an Obama person.

“Oh, and Obama has 2 kids, and if he were president, he couldn’t be a good father just like Palin couldn’t be a good mother…throw me another excuse.”
That’s different. A mother is expected to be there for her children 24/7 … a father is excused not to be there for them. Also, Palin takes her kids to work with her … Obama does not do that. If McCain-Palin are elected Palin won’t be able to take her kids to work with her alot because alot of her work will require her to leave the country. There is a huge difference here. Huge.

It is Bush’s fault that McCain gave Obama Foot-in-Mouth Disease. It is Bush’s fault that McCain used Obama’s own words against him. It is Bush’s fault that Obama keeps reacting to McCain. It is Bush’s fault that McCain picked a running mate that Obama and his hangers-in-and-on were not ready for. It is Bush’s fault that Biden asked a man in wheelchair to stand up and be recognized at a rally for Obama in Mo. I hate BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is too funny!!! Before you watch the link below, remember that Obama said he picked the most qualified VEEP he could. Please listen to Sen. Joe “Gaffman” Biden (D-DE). This is awsome. The Democrat party is falling in on itself because they picked 2 idiots to lead the way. I cannot stop laughing!!!!!!

President John F. Kennedy, standing by the Brandenburg Gate during a critical moment of the Cold War, declared: “ich bin ein Berliner” (I am a Berliner); a challenge to the Berlin Wall, the Soviet affront to freedom!
Imagine instead President Kennedy standing by that historic gate declaring: “You can put lipstick on a pig, [but] It’s still a pig”! And the audience with guttural outbursts, laughter, and raucous applause erasing all uncertainty regarding the intended meaning.

For presidential consciousness, Obama’s nomination acceptance speech will be required for study by all students in America seeking wisdom and enlightenment for hundreds of years to come, should G-d’s grace permit Our Nation to survive the Roman Fifth Column’s depredations.
Rather imagine John McCain’s offering before the gathered throngs of “biker” cultists August Fifth, at the Sturgis Rally, offering his Mafia wife’s body for examination as “Miss Buffalo Chip.” How “presidential?” Such “class.”
LOW class…like any who think the murderer of 143 on the Forrestal in 1967 should serve in public office rather than in a cell at Leavenworth.

Although news coverage of Obama’s “Lipstick” remark focuses on the fact that [comment] has been used in the past, one element is overlooked. Look at the audience behind Obama. Taken on its face I see nothing for them to cheer and clap about during Obama’s lengthy pause between “You can put lipstick on a pig” and “but you still have a pig.” Even if Obama was not referring to Palin, the audience was making the connection.

How long can McCain keep hiding behind Pailn’s skirt tail?
“Swift boat McCain” can’t REALLY be offended by the “pig with lipstick” comment since HE USED IT AGAINST HILLARY and didn’t consider it “sexist” then…..
Come out, come out Johnnie and debate the REAL issues of this election …..healthcare, unemployment, national security and national debt…. can’t use Palin as a shield forever!

I used to admire John McCain because he would occassionally speak up against the Karl Rove Republicans (although much too late in the case of Max Cleland, a Vietnam vet who lost his legs in war yet was cast as a traitor by the GOP), but what respect I had is completely gone. McCain has shown that he doesn’t care about issues or civility. He is just another politician who is only concerned with being elected, no matter how many lies and distortions he has to make to get there.
