Kingston wants Bush to join Democratic drill-down with a veto
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
With cries of “Drill, baby, drill” still echoing through the convention hall in St. Paul, don’t think for a moment that Republicans will stop hammering Democrats on the issue of off-shore searches for oil.
In fact, Investor’s Business Daily is reporting this:
Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., is circulating a letter among House members that strongly urges President Bush “to veto any spending bills that would continue the moratorium on [Outer Continental Shelf] drilling.”
So far, the letter has 100 GOP signers, not enough to sustain a veto. A veto risks a government shutdown, which Kingston concedes “is dicey. Most people up here are sensitive to a possible shutdown.”
Republicans don’t want to get blamed for cutting off aid to the poor and elderly. But voters also could focus their anger on Democrats for being willing to shut down the government to maintain an unpopular drilling ban.

Why won’t The Insider talk about the 11,000 who turned out to rally for Ron Paul Tuesday night?? The 11,000 disgruntled republicans that were not energized with the Palin pick? The media searched high and low for the 5 Hillary supporters that dont want to vote for Obama, but there were 11,000 in ONE place and not one media interview?? Why is that?

Critiziing the media is an intral part of the Republican election strategy. The apparent aim is to put the media on the defensive thereby generating more coverage for their candidate. Some pundits are going so far as to tell the media what is newsworthy. Now isn’t that interesting.
The conservatives spin on Palins daughter’s pregnancy is not only antithetical to its professed beliefs but out right hypocritical. Among others conservatism is a viewpoint that traditionally favors a governmental role in encouraging and enforcing traditional values and behaviors in the belief that these are what keep people civilized and decent. The pregnancy came about as a result of a sinful act, yet there is no condemnation.

The Repubs should be happy; they’ve finally gotten some public attention for their sacrificial campaign…
And best of all, it STILL keeps McCain off camera! That’s the best of both worlds for them. Hoping nobody looks too closely at McLame is really their only hope.
