Perdue: Dems say ‘Dang!’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
By Aaron Gould Sheinin asheinin@ajc.com
Minneapolis — Gov. Sonny Perdue said Wednesday that Sarah Palin’s selection as the GOP vice presidential nominee has made Democrats second-guess their own choice for president.
Speaking at the Georgia delegation’s breakfast meeting here, Perdue said the governor of Alaska was a great pick for GOP presidential hopeful John McCain.
“This is a woman that the more America knows of her, gets to know her, the better they’re going to like her, and boy the Democrats hate it,” Perdue said. “I talked about buyer’s remorse at the Democratic National Convention. You could see it, you could feel it. They chose the wrong candidate, and add Sarah Palin on top of that and they say, ‘Dang! They beat us to the punch.”
Perdue was speaking of Democrats’ selection of Barack Obama, and not Hillary Clinton, to be their nominee.
The governor said that Palin will help McCain, whom, Perdue admitted, “probably has offended all of us at one time with some of his decisions.”
Still, Perdue said, “he’s done what he thought was right.”
Perdue challenged delegates to help back up his own words from months ago about Obama competing to win Georgia.
“I wrote a check that I’m going to ask you to cover,” Perdue said. “I said, ‘Bring it on.’”
“Let Obama and Joe Biden come to Georgia, spend as much money as they want and have their say and we’re still just going to wax them,” he said. “So bring it on, bring it on and let’s go to work.”

Sonny must seriously be either on something or on the verge of a mental breakdown.
The Republicans are about to nominate a hot-headed, trigger happy man who sold his soul to the very people he used to criticize and who doesn’t know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites and still acts as though Czechoslovakia exists for President and a woman with ties to secessionists who is extremely right-wing on abortion (not even in the case of rape!) and sex education.
There is a party that will regret their nominees. Sonny just has the wrong party in mind.

Sarah Palin and her husband are members of the Alaskan Independence Party which is trying to cede Alaska from the rest of the nation. She even sent a video taped welcome to their 2008 convention telling them they were doing a great job.
The leader of the group even referred to the American flag as “that damn flag.”
Is this person really the best person to lead this nation? And don’t tell me she’s “just VP and NOT President.” That argument DOES NOT hold water. This woman belongs to a group that hates America so much it wants their state to leave the union. She is NOT a patriotic American and needs to be replaced on the ticket NOW!
But I guess this is what happens when you vet your nominee just ONE DAY before the announcement. What in the world are these people thinking!?

Sonny’s smoking crack and should be impeached. I can’t believe that his judgement is so poor that he thinks ANY woman will do and that we as women have absolutely no sense and vote aimlessly based on gender and not issues. It is so mind-numbing! Republicans defending McCain’s choice of Palin is like Blacks defending OJ Simpson. Both are not willing to admit the decision to support the wrong cause because to admit they were wrong only causes

We’re gonna bring it on, Sonny. Don’t think for a minute that high gas prices, foreclosures, Iraq, and the general feeling of malaise in America is going to birth a McCain victory. Democrats are registering new voters at record breaking levels and young people are getting involved. “Buyers remorse?” Please check the facts, hillbilly. Dems are united behind Obama/Biden and we will compete in every state of this beautiful country. And if anyone has buyers remorse, it should be Perdue and the rest of the Republican lot who are about to nominate a man they don’t like, and a woman who has more baggage than a Luis Vuitton travel collection. Obama/Biden ‘08!

Big talk to move the weak of minds. The Republicans are in trouble…and since they have a candidate with the experience to be president but not the policy to handle the problems of today, they are talking him and Palin up knowing they will be destroyed in a debate. Not sure why Republicans chose McCain to represent their party when they had Ron Paul, Romney and Huckabee who all seemed more capable.

Like many I was a little slow in getting on the McCain bandwaggon, but the more I’ve studied his voting record, the better I like him. I also like Palin. Unfortunately the press will act like a bunch of slight of hand artists trying to get you to look away from the substantive issues, and focus only on sideline issues. But I think Palin would be a better president on day one than Obama will be four years from now. Sonny is right. Obama will lose in GA and the more money he spends here, the less he’ll have in states where he has a chance. Bring it Obama.

Gov. Perdue,
I used to hold you in high regard, but this statement makes me see your true colors. Gov. Perdue, you are an IDIOT, if you think that Gov. Palin is qualified for the post. Are you saying that she was the BEST candidate available?
Please answer this question everyone…
How/ Why did McCain vet her over a weeks time when he locked up the nomination over three months ago? That’s poor judgement and leadership. That also shows that this move was NOT for the good of the country, but for political reasons.
Country First?

What is Sonny talking about? ” They chose the wrong candidate, and add Sarah Palin on top of that and they say, ‘Dang! They beat us to the punch.” - You beat them to WHAT? Sonny, do you really think woman are going to support her just because she’s a woman. Is that what this is all about to the Republicans. Making history. What about making policies that’s going to improve the american economy, health care and security.
“This is a woman that the more America knows of her, gets to know her, the better they’re going to like her, and boy the Democrats hate it,” - I think you meant to say Democrats love it… Sonny I sure would like to hear your outlook on her after her first debate…

Governor Perdue is right. When I have dreamed of the perfect American statesman to lead our grand republic through the dangers the world presents, I always dreamed of a former mayor of a 9000 person town who had governed one of the least populated states in American for less than two years. A person who has admitted she does not really keep up with world events and a person who was not on anyone’s top list two weeks ago.
Boy, when I think that we could have been stuck with Mitt Romney, the top choice of an overwhelming number of republicans and, except for the unfortunate luck of having Mike Huckabee drain away conservative votes in the primary, the real choice of the Republican Party for its nominee, I don’t know what I was thinking.
My new bumper sticker - “She doesn’t know anything about world events but she sure is pretty”.

Obama gives on of the greatest political speeches ever, that everybody who is anybody praised, and the Dems are united behind him like no other candidate, and Sonny wants to insist we have buyers remorse?
18 million people picked Obama with their votes. One person picked Palin.
If Palin was a man with 2 year mayor experience of a very small town and less than 2 years experience as governor of a rural, little populated state, do you think the GOP would have been chosen for the VP slot?

Mike, when you studied his voting record did you notice that a couple of those bills he voted against had his name on them as author? Take the Immigration Reform Bill that he co-wrote and talked up until he realized it would hurt his candidacy and voted against his own bill! Candidate McCain and Senator McCain are two different people sharing the same body. It’s obvious he’s made a Faustian Bargain to try and get elected. We don’t need that type of unprincipled person in the WH. As for Sonny, he obviously has been practacing his veterinarion skills again, slipped and inserted his head into a horses patoot. good god, shut UP you good-for-nothing-pitiful-excuse-for-a-governor.
the only time i’ve second-guessed obama was in january when the primaries started. but as time passed, i have grown more than comfortable with him and intend on voting for him…..or whomever won the democratic nomination.
this woman (me) is not stupid, it doesn’t matter what beauty pageant runner up you put on your team, the b!tch is not qualified and has an extremely shady recent past. she wasn’t vetted properly, she’s a total hypocrit for conservative ideals, and let’s not kid ourselves…if she’s the best the GOP can muster up after all this time (going on several months that mccain has secured the nomination - way longer than obama had to vett his VP), then the dems have it in the bag.
i never had any interest in the republican party except for ron paul running this year. if anything, palin has made me second-guess the republican party and exactly “what” (if anything) they stand for.

I will be up front and honest, my favorite candidate of the four people vying for the executive office of the federal government is none other than Joe Biden. Is that really saying a lot?
Having said that, I will back up Sonny Perdue’s words; “Bring it on.” The democrats have a very slim shot at winning Georgia, and while I enjoy Biden, his selection is not going to tip any scales here. I read the replies on this article and I just don’t understand where some of them are coming from. If you are to beat an opponent, please empathize with the enemy. I constantly find myself questioning the Democratic Party and their cohesiveness. Here is why:
1) How can people on this board say that Governor Palin was a bad pick for a VP? She was an excellent pick on numerous levels. One, how can the democrats attack her and save face? They cannot. Pick on a mother of three, president of the PTA? No jabs there, now they must focus on rhetoric and past decisions, which Democrats are consistently bad at accomplishing. She also adds a fresh face to McCain. Are you people that naive that you don’t consider the marketability of a candidate? Now instead of showing McCain’s withering head, the focus will be more so on Palin. And Palin ain’t looking that bad, if I may say so myself.
2) People at the Democratic National Convention were publicly and vocally expressing their disinterest with Barrack Obama over Hillary Clinton. The selection of Palin was intended to rope in the women, working mothers, balancing kids, career, life, that would have voted for Senator Clinton. The Democrats wanted to frame their party as this magical, morally angelic, loving, group when they had a minority, which I still believe is over half white, and a woman battling it out for supremacy of the ticket. Well, the woman fell off and the Republicans scooped her up, dusted the liberal off and stuck her on the ticket.
3) People are questioning Palin’s past. Sure go ahead, there do exist questions that need to be answered, but do not be so naive to believe McCain and the well oiled machine that is the Republican Party hasn’t asked them already. But as we ask those questions, must we not forget the VP on the Democratic ticket? I know in the beginning I said I like Senator Biden better than the other three figures, but his past ain’t so clean. He was cited for plagiarizing in the 80’s. Plagiarizing. You can get kicked out of high school, college, bar associations, etc for plagiarizing. I feel Biden has the qualities to be a great leader, perhaps even President, but if you look at his character and history it doesn’t stop there. Please feel free to question, but do it fairly.
So democrats and liberals, I must admit I myself am socially liberal but until the Democrats get their head out of the sand and focus I find it hard to cast a vote for one. If I’m on the fence, which I am but its quite obvious where I lean, I must look at the party and their ability to pull together and carry out an agenda. I do not feel like the Democrats are capable of that. They have proven that in Congress, both in the Senate, and time and time and time again in the House. More importantly they have proven it with their selection of Barrack Obama and the divisiveness he has brought. This election was signed, sealed, and just needed to be delivered for the Democrats based on the past eight years. Unfortunately someone forgot the stamp.

Republicans believe that women are silly, emotional, hormone-driven creatures who are easily swayed by publicity stunts. They sincerely believe that Hillary supporters will eagerly switch over to the woman-hating, rabid lunatic-creationist Palin simply because she has ovaries.
That’s how well Republican leaders understand American women… and it’s one more reason they’re going down to inevitable defeat this November.

Funny!! Your man has a lot less experience and you are all gaga over him.
Let’s look at your man: - Community outreach leader, His leadership in that area brought the area the highest level of illiteracy in the nation, the homes he help provide are boarded up and condemned. - 3 years in the US senate, half the time he has been running for the presidency, the other half he spent voting “present” in the senate.

why don’t you read obama’s book and if you agree with that, you guys need to move to the bay area where you would feel right at home with the other socialist there!
obama will be another jimmy carter if elected with double digit unemployment, interest and mortgage rates.

Who is Jack Wheeler.
Jack Wheeler is a brilliant man who was the author of Regan’s strategy to break the back of the Soviet Union with the star wars race and expose their inner weakness. For years he wrote a weekly intelligence update that was extremely interesting and well structured and informed. He consults(ed) with several mega corporations on global trends and the future, etc. I think he is in semi-retirement now. He is a true patriot with a no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well known mountain climber and adventurer.
Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler
The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.
What he isn’t, not a genetic drop of, is ‘African-American,’ the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn’t a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It’s something Hillary doesn’t understand - how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamama nia is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus Obama has become the white liberals’ Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd .
Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.
His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American. Pass this on to every thinking American you know!

Every stab you make at her inexperience and private life only highlights the complete inexperience and incompetence of the guy that you want to put in office in January, not a heartbeat away from the office, but IN THE OFFICE.
Obama should never, ever have even been considered to head the ticket for a major American party. Dems are swayed by sharp oratory and rockstar status rather than solid governmental policy. If Palin was a man with 2 year mayor experience of a very small town and less than 2 years experience as governor of a rural, little populated state, do you think the GOP would have been chosen for the VP slot?
Sure. The Dems set the bar really low for the candidate at the top of their ticket. Obama touts his “executive” experience derived from running a political campaign. David Axelrod, are you listening? Does your campaign have a $12 billion budget? Do you have 29,000 employees? Alaska does. Is Joe Biden the holy grail of VPs? Biden has always worked for the government, is one of 535 members of Congress, and oversees a budget that covers his office expenses. Is a lifelong government employee the best you people can find? And none of Biden’s experience was in the military. So he knows nothing about running a business and nothing about serving in the military. His qualifications are that he has served in the Senate, debates a lot and issues press releases, and is a regular on TV talk shows. Perhaps you should have gone with Oprah for your VP pick since she has more of this experience.
A “community organizer”? I’m still asking what one is, what functions do they perform, what training they have, etc. Anyone on this blog who lists “community organizer” on your Form 1040? Obama once touted his chief accomplishment in this role as eradicating asbestos from a building. Does that mean a community organizer is similar to a contractor?
With Obama spending a billion dollars (and outspending his opponent 10-to-1), the race is very close. Why is that? Why are the liberati so nervous about Palin? They were nervous about Clarence Thomas too. Obama is our first affirmative action presidential nominee. But the American voter gets the final word here. Why is that the most enthusiastic Obama supporters have the least amount of life experience? They are often young, don’t own a business, have never met a payroll, and view government as an entity to dispense their fellow citizens’ dollars to them because they are either unskilled, misguided, or lazy. Free pre-K? You got it. Free college degree? Not a problem. Free healthcare? It’s yours. Free job training? OK Free money (called a “rebate” that exceeds any taxes you paid)? Sure. That’s why the Wall Street Journal termed Obama’s tax program “welfare”. They said we should call it what it really is.
Why aren’t the libs talking about the attractiveness of their candidates? They seek withdrawal in Iraq (even if we’ve not won). They promise to impose higher taxes on nearly all segments of the economy, even though presidents from Kennedy to Reagan to George W. Bush recognized this would sink the economy. When he was asked by ABC’s Charlie Gibson about raising taxes and that doing so would result in a reduction of revenue to the U.S. Treasury, Obama stated that he wanted to restore “fairness.” Are libs so insecure that they have to destroy the success of others even though in doing so it won’t help them (or anybody else)? Clearly the answer is “yes.”
If I were among the liberati, I too would turn attention to destroying my opponents via personal attacks. A “community organizer” as president? How embarrassing is that! Al Sharpton is a community organizer.
Regarding social issues, Obama doesn’t even know when life begins. It’s “above his pay grade.” Doesn’t his answer belie his Ivy League credentials? If his daughter got pregnant (assuming she didn’t mind being “burdened with a baby”) and was later killed by a thug, would they want the killer to be charged with just a single murder? Obama would have to give the same answer in order to be consistent: “It’s above my pay grade. I can’t answer that question.”
Obama hates traditional values, hates our market economy (because not everyone has an equal amount of wealth because they’ve not earned it), and disdains our religious institutions.
Since Obama’s resume is thin and his accomplishments are nearly non-existent, we judge him by this words and by his associations. I couldn’t vote for a candidate whose friends are set on the destruction of our way of life. Could you?

Rather funny to see the all-out tactics by the liberals and their media attack dogs. Why all the attention on the Republican #2 pick when the Democratic #1 pick doesn’t have half the character or experience. That’s ok, go ahead, vote Mr. Inexperience in, but keep your mouths shut and your blogs quiet when this becomes a Socialist state and you’ll have to ask for permission from the Government to wipe your own behind. Not to mention when this country is overrun by illegal immigrants from every corner of the world and actual Americans become the minority in our own country.

Enough Said!
Now, I dare you to attack me and call me a low life. I am a well educated man, who just so happens to make SIX Figures per year. I just wanted to put that fire out before it starts. One more thing, I’m also a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER!!!

Andrew, Wow….six figures? Really?? Can we touch you? Do you have any idea how many people make “six figures” now days. Not really that special. I think the fact that you are a “community organizer” and achieve this salary is evidence of that. It means that after taxes you are bringing home about 6K a month….nothing to brag about on the internet! Not to mention that I know a few folks who are making over $1,000,000 a year and are very much “low lives”…..Typical liberal that you would tie someones salary to their worth!

Again, there are many who make more than six figures a year. True, but there are a helluva lot more who don’t. btw. I know a few millionaires personally. Hell, I’m even related to a few. And no, I did not have everything that I have handed to me.

Church is still being name hijacked. He is in St. Paul and has not posted here since Monday. You liberals are desperate. How does it feel to tear a woman down because she made the decision to have a family and a job in politics. I thought that liberals wanted women out of the house and working. I guess that only applies to liberal women? Right? The democratic party is scared senseless by Palin. You can tell by the angery way they have reacated to her. Prediction: If she does well tonight, Obama is in big, big trouble.
I would also like to add that I was not excited by McCain. I am now. The base is now fully behind McCain. It was not before. You lefties are about to be very surprised. I, for one, will be waiting and watching for the next round of desperate attacks that will follow the McCain-Palin bounce in the polls. I have also decided to end my “protest” over giving money to Republicans 527’s. I am sending out checks today. Church did it Friday. When I talk to Church tonite I will send him your best and let him know he is as popular as ever.

Yes, I fully support McCain, but I am honest enough to say that he doesn’t stand a chance in this election.
The Democrats are registering too may voters to overcome. If you remember, they had millions and millions who got out to vote. The Republican Party didn’t have nearly that many. Granted, McCain already had the nomination in hand.

Palin is part of 4 more years,, I am posting from the Convention.. Go Ron Paul.. PEACE..
“The McCain team has hastily assembled a team of former Bush White House aides to tutor the vice-presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, on foreign-policy issues, to write her speeches and to begin preparing her for her all-important Oct. 2 debate against Sen. Joe Biden.
“Steve Biegun, who once served as the No. 3 National Security Council official under Condoleezza Rice at the White House, has been hired as chief foreign-policy adviser to the Alaska governor, campaign officials told Newsweek… .
“Matt Scully, a former Bush White House speechwriter who helped draft some of the major foreign-policy addresses during the president’s first term, is working on Palin’s acceptance speech to the convention Wednesday night.
“Mark Wallace, a former lawyer for the Bush 2000 campaign who served in a variety of administration jobs including chief counsel at the Federal Emergency Management Agency and deputy ambassador to the United Nations, has been put in charge of ‘prep’ for the debate against Biden.
“Wallace’s wife, Nicolle Wallace, the former White House communications director, has taken over the same job for Palin.
“Tucker Eskew, another senior Bush White House communications aide, is serving as senior counselor to Palin’s operation.
“Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the former chief economist at the Council of Economic Advisers who has been serving as top economics guru for the McCain campaign, has moved over to serve as Palin’s chief domestic-policy adviser.”

Thanks for your kind words, Bob LeBlah. You keep up the good work too.
There remain two questions that Obama supporters can’t adequately answer:
What is a community organizer and how does a community organizer’s skill set (I can’t type this without laughing) correspond with those skills needed by a U.S. president?
What noteworthy accomplishments has Obama achieved while either a U.S. Senator or an Illinois state senator? (Co-sponsoring a bill by tacking one’s name onto the legislation isn’t an accomplishment, it’s theft.)

Church graduated from UGA (undergrad) and did his doctoral work at Brown. He then taught for a while and then went on to make a sizeable fortune in Real Estate development. Not bad for a guy under the age of 35. He started buying distressed porperties in college and has made a lot of people a lot of money. He and I partnered on a subdivision last year and it was the best investment I have ever made. While everyone else is going around building McMansion, Church has been developing smaller homes first time home buyers can afford. We have not been hit by the market bubble at all. Latest BREAKING news from the Convention.. The Ron Paul Party was great but I ate too much… Go Ron Paul.. Peace..
Actual videos all over you tube but amazingly they are starting to become “no longer available” I have to give it to the rethugs, you work fast. Can not wait for the hard hitting questions you give palin when she comes on your show. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/aipfounderprofessedhatredf.php Founder Of Group Palin Courted Professed “Hatred For The American Government”; Cursed “Damn Flag” By Greg Sargent - September 2, 2008, 6:10PM The founder of the Alaska Independence Party — a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years — once professed his “hatred for the American government” and cursed the American flag as a “damn flag.”
The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that’s now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
“The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,” Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.
“And I won’t be buried under their damn flag,” Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. “I’ll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home.”
At another point, Volger advocated renouncing allegiance to the United States. In the course of denouncing Federal regulation over land, he said:
“And then you get mad. And you say, the hell with them. And you renounce allegiance, and you pledge your efforts, your effects, your honor, your life to Alaska.”
You can listen to audio of the relevant section of the Volger interview here. Bill Schneider, curator of oral history at the library, verified the authenticity of the interview and the quote to me a few moments ago.
Palin has courted the group over the years.
Three years after the controversial interview, in 1994, Palin attended the group’s annual convention, according to witnesses who spoke to ABC News’ Jake Tapper. The McCain campaign is disputing her presence there, but Tapper found two people to attest to it.
The McCain campaign today produced Palin’s voting registration records, and said they proved she was never a member of the party.
But she has repeatedly reached out to the group. The McCain campaign has confirmed she visited the group’s 2000 convention, and she addressed its convention this year, as an incumbent governor whose oath of office includes upholding the Constitution of the United States.
Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, was a member of the party from 1995-2002 with a brief exception in 2000.
It’s worth noting that Vogler isn’t just some figure from ancient history. He is still being hailed on AIP’s site this year, the same year Palin addressed the group’s convention.
It’s worth pondering how big a deal it would be if Obama had ever courted the support of a group whose head had said this kind of thing about America and her flag. Oh, wait…

Quick correction to the person who said that the British ended slavery in E.Africa when they colonized. I suggest that you read Imperial Reckoning by Caroline Elkins to learn the real truth of what the British did to the people of E.Africa in particular Kenya. Under a “emergency declaration” , they killed over 200,000 Kikuyus and herded the rest of them into internment camps. The women were raped and men and women were mutilated. Please don’t think the British were the saviors of Kenya. All this took place while Winston Churchill condemned Adolph Hitler for his atrocities with the Jews. Read before you make statements. The truth will set you free and along the way you might get educated.

A Pennsylvania newpaper columnist said that if Obama isn’t elected that there will be race riots. That is about the stupidest thing I’ve heard. That’s like saying there’d be a gender riot if Palin isn’t elected.
