An evangelical voice of, if not doubt, then caution when it comes to Sarah Palin
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Throughout this afternoon and beyond her speech this evening, Republicans will be emphasizing their confidence in Gov. Sarah Palin as the GOP candidate for vice president.
Evangelicals have been especially supportive of the Alaskan governor, but not to a man.
Mark DeMoss, a Christian publicist with an office in Buford, was Mitt Romney’s liaison to Southern evangelicals during the Republican primary.
Steve Walden, editor-in-chief of Beliefnet, documents DeMoss’ qualms in a posting today:
Mark DeMoss, former chief of staff to Jerry Falwell and now a leading Christian public relations executive, is hoping that Palin turns out well but has been shocked and worried by the reflexive Christian embrace of her.
“Too many evangelicals and religious conservative are too preoccupied with values and faith and pay no attention to competence. We don’t apply this approach to anything else in life, including choosing a pastor.”
Imagine, he said, if a church was searching for a pastor and the leadership was brought a candidate with great values but little experience. “They’ve been a pastor for two years at a church with 150 people but he shares our values, so we hired him to be pastor of our 5,000-person church? It wouldn’t happen! We don’t say, ‘He shares our values, so let’s hire him.’ That’s absurd. Yet we apply that to choosing presidents. It blows my mind.”
.To be clear, DeMoss isn’t saying Palin is unqualified. “The reality is, we don’t know - and neither does McCain if he only met her once.” The other Christian leaders who rallied around her didn’t know much either. “I’m not hinting something’s amiss but we don’t know her and the people who gave her glowing response Friday didn’t know. The euphoric rush to anoint without knowing — it’s a dangerous thing.”

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.
As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].
The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint “temperament, judgment, and statesmanship” to lead our nation as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.
In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:
If your answer to a majority of the above questions is yes, I suggest you vote for that ticket. As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong’s, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international humane diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.
Yours sincerely,
COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR / MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq Freedom team.

New Rule: You can’t put a windmill in your campaign ad if you voted against every single bill that would lead somebody to build one. If you’re going to send a camera crew to a farm, why not just take a picture of actual b—-sh—?

Two months ago, Mrs. Palin’s pastor said God would “punish” the United States for being a “slip-sliding” nation. Time for her to renounce him?

Thank God for the invention of the Internet! The pundits, media twits, and others who spend their time throwing verbal stones at candidates and their family members for being human can now be subjected to the same kind of treatment. Their backgrounds and private actions are no longer private! Their hidden actions, along with those of their some times errant children, can no longer be kept secret. They can now be examined under a microscope and their readers be made aware via the Internet if they and theirs are actually “without sin” or if they too are guilty of the same so-called immoral standards they accuse others of. The only individual in all of history who was without sin was crucified by hypocrites like these. These slugs need to shut up and crawl back beneath their collective rocks where they belong!

How does the McCain-Palin administration, plan to take care of all the additional children born because of no more womens’ right to choose? No abortion for rape or incest. McCain, if he gets elected (please no)can send all the illegal immigrants he is so against along with with the over-population caused by his no right to choose to Alaska to live with the moose.

You know what this country does not need right now? Another ambitious politician who climbs the ladder by picking fights on wedge issues and “energizing the base.” The political center in this country has been ignored by the Republican Party, and its bread and circus act (tax cuts and terror bogeymen) is wearing thin. McCain had a chance to show he was different, by choosing a running mate who would be well-qualified to run the federal government in the event that he was unable to do so. He went for political theater instead. Enjoy your “attack dog,” wingnuts. You just lost the election.

Criticizing the media is an integral part of the Republican election strategy. The apparent aim is to put the media on the defensive in the hope of generating more exsposure for their candidate. Some are going so far as to tell the media what is newsworthy. Now isn’t that interesting.
The Republicans’ outrage at mainstream news mention about and their take on Governor Palins daughter’s pregnancy is not only antithetical to its professed beliefs but out right hypocritical. Among others, conservatism is a viewpoint that traditionally favors a governmental role in encouraging and enforcing traditional values and behaviors in the belief that these are what keep people civilized and decent. A major part of its agenda involves fostering religious beliefs and actions, i.e., prayer in school, anti- abortion, principled governance, to name a few. The fact is…the pregnancy came about as a result of a sinful act, yet there is no talk abou that. Instead, what you hear is…all families have their problems, it’s a private matter.
