The story of Sarah Palin and her brother-in-law, the trooper
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Today’s Washington Post has the first extended take — at least in the lower 48 — of that investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin, now the GOP vice presidential nominee, pressured her underlings to fire an Alaskan state trooper who was married to her sister.
Writes the Post:
The trouble between Wooten and the governor’s sister broke into the open after an alleged incident in February 2005. Palin told an internal affairs investigator that she overheard on a speakerphone [trooper Michael] Wooten arguing with her sister and threatening to kill their father. Fearful for her family members’ lives, Palin said she drove to her sister’s house and watched the argument through a window.
“Wooten’s words were, ‘I will kill him. He’ll eat a [expletive] lead bullet, I’ll shoot him,’ if our father got the attorney to help Molly,” Palin said in an e-mail she wrote in August 2005 to the chief of the state police. “I heard this death threat, my 16-year-old son heard it (Track Palin), Molly heard it, as did their small children. Wooten spoke with his Trooper gun on his hip in an extremely intimidating fashion, leaving no doubt he is serious about taking someone’s life who disagrees with him.”

Actually, dittohead, this report is a positive for Mrs. Palin and Republicans. It gives evidence that Wooten committed an offense (a death threat). It helps justify action against him, perhaps appropriate action not related to familial loyalty and revenge. However, I still don’t know whether Palin’s actions were appropriate, legal, and fully respectable. Maybe time will tell.

Objective Journalism: Hiding the crimes of GOP royal children, like young GW Bush’s DUIs and cocaine use, not to mention abuse of power in office, and exploiting the crimes of Democrats wherever they can be dug up. The late great Tim Russet was an objective journalist, pounding his fist on the desk, demanding that Rahm Emanual tell the people of America which one of Monica’s breasts Clinton licked first, because the people have a right to know! Unless the people want to know about meetings between the Vice President and oil & energy executives that helped shape our current “energy policies” that affect all of us. Then the people can mind their own gd business, and Russert helped Cheney tell them so. We need more Russerts. We need more of OUR kind of objectivity!

I think the lib-media, in all fairness and to avoid any sort of bias, should investigage Obama and his connections to RezKo. They should also take another look into the plaigarism of Biden. They should also look into the racist comments uttered by Sen. Biden during the racist/sexist Democrat Primary.
Here is the real story: The libs know that Palin is a great chioce. They know that Palin is harder for them to attack. They were ready to do some Mormon bashing on Romney, but they are not prepared to take out Palin, yet. I know that they will try but attacking her will be dangerous for them. They have already ticked off half of the Clinton supporters with their dirty tricks during the racist/sexist Democrat Primary. Biden must know that he cannot pop off at Palin given what happened to Rick Lazio when he took an aggressive posture with Hillary in 2000. This is going to be fun. Peace.

The lack of morals in politics today is disgusting; apparently the Democratic party now believes being a woman in politics with virtuous intentions to serve the public that elects her is wrong, hence the personal attacks on Sara Palin - a woman. Why is it i never see any derogatory commentary regarding Barack Hussin Obama’s upbringing as a muslim, or his half-black status? So, it’s okay to be half - black, but lord help you if you’re a woman….I’m voting Republican this Nov 4th.

An Open Letter to God, from Michael Moore
Sunday, August 31st, 2008
Dear God,
The other night, the Rev. James Dobson’s ministry asked all believers to pray for a storm on Thursday night so that the Obama acceptance speech outdoors in Denver would have to be cancelled.
I see that You have answered Rev. Dobson’s prayers — except the storm You have sent to earth is not over Denver, but on its way to New Orleans! In fact, You have scheduled it to hit Louisiana at exactly the moment that George W. Bush is to deliver his speech at the Republican National Convention.
Now, heavenly Father, we all know You have a great sense of humor and impeccable timing. To send a hurricane on the third anniversary of the Katrina disaster AND right at the beginning of the Republican Convention was, at first blush, a stroke of divine irony. I don’t blame You, I know You’re angry that the Republicans tried to blame YOU for Katrina by calling it an “Act of God” — when the truth was that the hurricane itself caused few casualties in New Orleans. Over a thousand people died because of the mistakes and neglect caused by humans, not You.
Some of us tried to help after Katrina hit, while Bush ate cake with McCain and twiddled his thumbs. I closed my office in New York and sent my entire staff down to New Orleans to help. I asked people on my website to contribute to the relief effort I organized — and I ended up sending over two million dollars in donations, food, water, and supplies (collected from thousands of fans) to New Orleans while Bush’s FEMA ice trucks were still driving around Maine three weeks later.
But this past Thursday night, the Washington Post reported that the Republicans had begun making plans to possibly postpone the convention. The AP had reported that there were no shelters set up in New Orleans for this storm, and that the levee repairs have not been adequate. In other words, as the great Ronald Reagan would say, “There you go again!”
So the last thing John McCain and the Republicans needed was to have a split-screen on TVs across America: one side with Bush and McCain partying in St. Paul, and on the other side of the screen, live footage of their Republican administration screwing up once again while New Orleans drowns.
So, yes, You have scared the Jesus, Mary and Joseph out of them, and more than a few million of your followers tip their hats to You.
But now it appears that You haven’t been having just a little fun with Bush & Co. It appears that Hurricane Gustav is truly heading to New Orleans and the Gulf coast. We hear You, O Lord, loud and clear, just as we did when Rev. Falwell said You made 9/11 happen because of all those gays and abortions. We beseech You, O Merciful One, not to punish us again as Pat Robertson said You did by giving us Katrina because of America’s “wholesale slaughter of unborn children.” His sentiments were echoed by other Republicans in 2005.
So this is my plea to you: Don’t do this to Louisiana again. The Republicans got your message. They are scrambling and doing the best they can to get planes, trains and buses to New Orleans so that everyone can get out. They haven’t sent the entire Louisiana National Guard to Iraq this time — they are already patrolling the city streets. And, in a nod to I don’t know what, Bush’s head of FEMA has named a man to help manage the federal government’s response. His name is W. Michael Moore. I kid you not, heavenly Father. They have sent a man with both my name AND W’s to help save the Gulf Coast.
So please God, let the storm die out at sea. It’s done enough damage already. If you do this one favor for me, I promise not to invoke your name again. I’ll leave that to the followers of Rev. Dobson and to those gathering this week in St. Paul.
Your faithful servant and former seminarian,
Michael Moore

This is just a prime example of the progressive and beautiful “self destruction” process that the liberal media has been doing all along. Palin is perfect for the McCain ticket and they know it. Obama is going to be consumed by the media because it’s all about ratings and headliners. Journalism is dead, and a new cannibalizing media monster has been born.

I am appalled by Mccain’s choice for VP, but it also gives an insight to how he would react under pressure, this choice shows that he bowed to his fears, and speaks to his judgment. His only hope is that he would get women that are sympathetic to Clinton. I don’t want a leader that would gamble on America’s future.
Obama’s choice show’s good judgment, good character, a wise leader who did not bow to pressure from outside or within. This is the kind of leader that America needs, one who is strong and wise. Even republican’s are embarrassed by this choice.

I am interested in what people mean these days when they say that they fight corruption, like Sara Palin. (Who is under investigation for corruption.) The people that went after Don Siegelman said that they were going after “corruption.” The current republican party is the most corrupt in the history of the United States, From Karl Rove, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Larry Craig, and on down the line. If Sara Palin is about fighting corruption then she should to re-open the case on the Keating Five, or the Silverado Savings and Loan disaster that hurt so many American families.

When McCain came back from Vietnam, he cheated repeatedly on his crippled wife, and then divorced her to marry Cindy Hensley. In the 1980’s McCain lobbied for Charles Keating, the saving and loan felon who stole billions in pension money, and took numerous jet set vacations at Keating’s expense. In the 1990’s McCain had an affair with a lobbyist that so scared his staff, that they told her to stay away from him. His campaigns for the Senate were all financed with his wife Cindy’s mob money. In 1994 Cindy McCain forged prescriptions in the names of her employees and stole drugs from her own charity. McCain’s campaign this year is getting huge amounts of oil company money. His pick for vice president is under an ethics investigation and will probably be indicted on Oct 31st. McCain is 72 years old, has had cancer 5 times and is on 5 different medications. He is so out of it, that his staff will no longer let him talk to the press unscripted.
Barak Obama graduated from Harvard Law School and went back to his community to help people who had lost their jobs when the plants shut down. He met his wife at the law firm where the worked together, and he has never cheated on his wife, and she has never forged prescriptions or stolen drugs. Obama has never lobbied for anyone that stole billions of dollars from pensioners. Obama’s campaign is financed by 1.5 million contributors. Obama’s pick for vice president has spent 30 years in the U.S. Senate and is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Obama is taking no medications and is available to talk to the press unscripted. His three main priorities for America are getting out of Iraq, universal healthcare, and American energy independence.
There is no question in my mind which one of these men will make a better president.
All the Republican smear tactics in the world cannot change these facts.

Sarah Palin is a true American. She and her husband have worked in real jobs. She started in politics by serving in her local PTA. Then she went on to serving as a city council woman and a mayor. She served on a state level commission and quit because of corruption. Sarah then went on to run for governor. She has spent years serving her community and her state. This is the kind of person I want in Washington representing a small town American citizen like myself. The first comments from the Obama camp insulted every small town American. According to him a mother of five serving in community and state government couldn’t possibly know as much about running a country as an ivy league educated lawyer like himself. While he was reading books in law school Sarah Palin was working hard like most Americans. Barack was working for the government as a community organizer while Sarah Palin was trying to change government. During his last two years in office he has been running for president while she has been running a the state of Alaska. He has only served as a senator for one of his three years. Who is most qualified? Who is the best American? Who do I feel has my best interest at heart? SARAH PALIN is working for AMERICA.

Do not forget that Obama goes on and on about poverty, while he has a brother that lives in a hut with no running water. He brother makes about $12.00 a year and lives in complete squaller. B. I really like nurses and Doctors and admire their work and have spent a lot of time in Hospitals visiting the sick.
Many of my neighbors are Doctors.
Does anyone for one minute believe I qualify for the Director of Surgery or the Deputy for Hospital Administration.
Anyone who believes Governor Palin is in any way qualified to be Vice President of the United States, they are likely a zealot and do not allow facts to get in the way of their opinions.
I have a friend who believes Ford,GM and Chrysler have always designed and manufactured the best cars in the world, its everyone else who have been voting with their pocketbooks to buy Honda’s, Toytota’s and all the other brands.
I am sorry that John McCain made a political selection rather than one based on qualifications, but lets not try to defend that decision by pretending Governor Palin is qualified to be Vice President or President of the United States.

How about the parts that say the death threat and 23 other complaints filed by the Palin family were proven unfounded… Kind of changes the meaning of the story doesn’t it? FACTS are a pesky thing.

The right-wing is going to write off criticisms of Palin as sexist, but the real sexism lies in McCain’s belief that women who supported Hillary Clinton will flock to the Republican Party, sacrificing their rights for identity politics.
Even more troubling is the GOP’s comfort in substituting personal stories for Presidential merit. Asked if Palin was ready, one GOP pundit cited her son’s impending deployment to Iraq, balancing career duties with her family of five, and that all-important management of the Alaska National Guard. Then there’s the person on Fox News who said that Palin has foreign policy experience because Alaska is close to Russia.
Hundreds of women—right, left, and otherwise—are more fit for this office than Palin. Christine Todd Whitman, Condoleezza Rice, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Elizabeth Dole, while all wrong on most issues—are all Republican women that would be qualified as Vice-President. Nothing is honorable about identity politics which causes people to forfeit standards of merit and competency.
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are examples of true trailblazers because of their unprecedented electoral accomplishments. Palin, however, did not overcome any of the same challenges as Hillary and Barack to receive this nomination. McCain’s actions equate to history by design, which is kind of like McDonald’s offering salads to make their menu appear healthy.

Obama is definitely right… He is right by raising corp taxes in a country that ranks #2 in the world in corp taxes already. He is right for having the govt control our health care and pioneering alt fuels. It has been proven that govt is much more efficient than our free market. In the Illinois Senate he was right by voting against a bill that did not allow early release for sex offenders based on good time served. He was right by voting for late term abortions, for businesses to be allowed to sell alcohol and porn with in 1000 ft of a school, and voting against a bill that would consider anyone who is on parole for gang violence and is involved with a gang to be considered a parole violation. In the Illinois Senate he voted present 130 times… great when you do not want to defend your point of view. Obama will be right like the Dems before him to reduce our military’s strength and allow people who choose leeching off the govt to live better than our men and women who defend our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He will be right not to make immigration a top priority. He will be right to allow people in from all over the world to take advantage of our free health care and liberal social systems. It is right to penalize the ons who work hard and become successful by taking over 50% of their earned income. Everyone who thinks these things to be right are exactly what is wrong with our country today.

McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin illustrates how desperate he is to hold onto the traditional Republican base of Evangelicals, Dittoheads (BTW - that moniker proves my feeling that the official tag line of the Republican Party should be “Proud to be Stupid”), Creationists and other assorted wing-nuts who think that having five kids and shooting Moose qualifies one to run the country.
How stupid can McCain be to choose someone as a running mate who is already under investigation? Even if Palin’s brother deserved to be removed from the force, it sounds as if the Governor mis-used her position to do so.
But then again - nobody should be surprised over McCain’s choice - a grossly under-qualified, unknown super-conservative from a small and corrupt state simply shows us who Republicans really are - small-minded, grossly under qualified, incompetent, Proud to be Stupid and corrupt. They should stick to shooting Moose - or as in the case of the Vice President - each other.

I’m a McCain supporter, but it does bother me whenever people talk about the “liberal media.” It’s such a cliche but one that’s just not accurage anymore - almost no major media outlet is liberal anymore. Also I find it absolutely insulting to my gender which is female that mcCain thinks he will get my vote by bringing in an “accidental politician” (Palin’s own words) novice 20 month governor of one of the most isolated states with no need for foreign policy or dealing with significant urban issues, ex-beauty queen, hockey mom ( I’m a hockey mom but I’m not running for VP! And that is on top of the rather questionable personal decisions that corndog mentioned. if anyone who supported Hillary (like myself!) switches to McCain and Palin because of this gender gimmick you are not only insulting the female race but Hillary and everything she stood for, most of all!

What is this experience that Sarah Palin has more than Obama. Did she study and teach Constitutional law for ten years? Understanding the Constitution seems like a good quality to have for a president and one that would have helped our present leader make better decisions. Did she work in the neighborhoods of Chicago working to bring people together and help people improve their lives in so many ways? Has she been dealing with national and international issues in Congress?
Has she written two best selling provocative intelligent analytical books? What experience is this great experience in areas that will make her a strong president? Does she have that is more than Obama.

Palin has history of firing people that don’t do her bidding. Fired State Tropper boss because he wouldn’t fired her brother in law, even after the brother in law had been suspended for his actions. Due proceess out the window, we would all like to suffer double jeaporty for an act. Fired the Police Chief while mayor because he didn’t support her reelection bid. Fired the town librarian after she didn’t support her reelection bid. Wanted her to censor books in the library, sounds like the Nazis burning books. May have lied that she had a baby when in fact her 16 year old daughter may be the mother. Done to protect her daughter or Palin political career. Beware Beware.

wow its amazing how you people all miss the point about Obama. Obama asked the good ‘ol boy network in chicago to “make me a Senator” and they did. He is now asking: “make me a president.” And they are trying their best. (can’t blame them for that) Up in Alaska the “good ol boy net work” was NOT trying to get Palin elected it was trying to keep her OUT of office. She actually confronted the “good ol boy” network IN HER OWN PARTY. Do you think the Republican political machine elected her? NO! Sara Palin actualy did this on her own. She didn’t come begging party bosses, “me too, me too” she saw a problem and tackled it head on ALONE! Mr. Obama (who I respect by the way)didn’t even get himself elected to the STATE Leg. on his own, he just used a legal loop hole and knocked out his opposition (Which was a woman by the way) Sarah Palin may “only be a governor” but she did that entirely alone no party machine backing her. As much as I respect Mr. Obama he hasn’t had that kind of work. His first real push back was Hilary and you saw how EVERYONE handled that. That’s why Mccain picked her not just because shes a woman and “any woman will do” Sarah Palin is not just “any woman”.

In the past, being a Republican had very little to do with God, it was about fiscal policies and small government, it was something I could be proud of. Today, we’ve been overrun by right-wing nut jobs and the neo-con loonies over at 700 club - and I find very little pride in being associated with it. GET OUT OF MY PARTY YOU LUNATICS!!!

Palin is going to be painted as a huge hypocrite and the Obama campaign won’t have to lift a finger.
First, she twists some arms to get the brother-in-law fired when she is supposed to be the fighter against corruption. How about reporting the threat to the proper authorities and allowing the system to remove him from his job and see that he faces consequences? Seems that with the right excuse, Palin will see no need for the system, much like many of the corrupt politicians she went after and much like BUSH.
Second, she preaches against sexual education and then this country watches as she has to eat her words when it is revealed that her teenage daughter is pregnant. All that abstinence only education helped a lot, didn’t it Governor Palin?
When Palin has to address these issues in front of Americans, along with her inexperience and unfamiliarity, she will be eaten alive.

For the good and decent Americans who just expect the best of everyone and automatically forgive the rest, Palin is the trash who still supports the Nazis who committed 9/11 from the White House. Read “The New Pearl Harbor,” by PhD Griffin if perfect moral clarity on the subject is anything the American Patriot in you can handle.
Sarah Palin never had a chance…her father moved from Idaho to Alaska? Must not have been “white” enough for him.
The daughter has sex for babies because that’s the only way her mother distinguished herself as female…as she is obviously the “man” of the family.
Look in Palin’s eyes. She is obviously nuts. Wants the government to force full-term pregnancy on victims of rape and incest. No difference between her and the homosexual Hitler-Youth pope.
America is supposed to be G-d’s Country: Remember “Annuit Coeptis,” our motto and key to The Creed?
McCain has the mark of the Devil on him: killed 143 on the Forrestal but got away with it because he grew up on Capitol Hill; shot down by his own admitted stupidity; hasn’t admitted Vietnam was a lie for Rome because his family has been fighting for Roman Catholic causes for centuries (read his autobiography); and betrayed his wife to get married to a Mafia-frontman’s daughter…who had no problem sleeping with a married man.
The GOP is scum, traitors, perverts and morons full of their own conceit worshipping Mammon.
Contingency/action plans must be developed by the People and the yeoman artisanry as the “polls” putting this 80/20 race even close are a fraud to soften us for the third stolen election in a row.
Bush and Cheney and their closest accomplices must be tried, convicted, hanged and expropriated or America is doomed.
Death for Treason.

“Mike” uses argumentum ad hominem because the truth does not serve the purpose of treason among patriots willing to fight and kill to save and restore the righteous America bequeathed to us by Our Founders and ancestors.
Just as the truth of Palin-as-whitetrash is known for all to see, and the truth of McCain’s role in the Forrestal tragedy, his shootdown, collaboration and adultery to get married to the Mob is fully known, Bush’s and Cheney’s role in the treason of 9/11 to send us to die for heroin, oil, the Saudis and a corrupt faction of false Jews in the State of Israel is equally knowable.
Check the cites and your sight. Pray. Know the Truth.
Treason must not be permitted to prosper. The pseudo-aristoi has risen under the wings of the Roman Anti-Christ. The ProphetsThomas Jefferson and Martin King spelled it out.
Obama is only a small step in the right direction.
Bush and Cheney must hang. The Tory Oak was reserved for those in 1776 who just could not accept the American Dream. Tories must be “returned to sender.” The Almighty will sort them out.

There is no more scrutiny applied to Palin by the liberal press than Senator Clinton has endured from conservative talk radio for decades. To cry foul because Palin is a woman, is to discredit women everywhere….and further, suggests the Republicans can’t take what they are well known for dishing out….and maybe they can’t.

I’m still trying to find out what a community organizer is. I’ve never see one before His Barackness.
Are there community organizer classes that one takes? Is there a community organizer certification process?
Given that communities have been around since dirt, were these communities disorganized? Were they worse off because of it? Is Atlanta organized or disorganized?
If one were an expert (I mean a really good one) community organizer, would that make the individual a better commander-in-chief? Or more knowledgeable about a market economy? Or have better moral values?
I’m still waiting for an Obama supporter to answer.

Still Waiting, from Wikipedia:
“Community organizing is a process by which people are brought together to act in common self-interest. While organizing describes any activity involving people interacting with one another in a formal manner, much community organizing is in the pursuit of a common agenda. Many groups seek populist goals and the ideal of participatory democracy. Community organizers create social movements by building a base of concerned people, mobilizing these community members to act, and developing leadership from and relationships among the people involved.”
I guess if you were a community organizer in an economically-challenged community like Chicago’s south side, you might help people come together to solve their issues of poverty, unemployment, crime, problems in the local schools, and of not being represented in their own government. Whether or not you think there’s any merit to such an endeavor is of course, your own business.

Palin was elected in December of 2006, so she hasnt served two years. Also during that time she had a baby, to say that this qualifys her to be a heart beat away is like saying that Veron Jones is qualified to be VP, since DeKalb has a population equivalent to AK. The fact is that Republicans pander just as good as the Democrats. Lets just wait until the debates and see if anyone offers an original idea rooted in common sense. To date both sides have been pitiful

Part time state senator and community organizer is a great qualification to run the world’s largest budget. How many paychecks has he signed? How many budgets has he created? How many vetoes has he cast? And what about Biden? Ever had a job besides permanent DC insider? All these months Barry’s been harping on DC outsider and relating closest to the common American. I guess career DC insider and a guy living in a $1.6 million house relates closer than small town mother, small business owner, etc. Amazing that liberals are so scared they’ve been lying and inventing stories about her to distort. I guess Obamacons forgot their master told them he was above petty politics. I guess you can like him for that but not practice what he preaches. But even Barry forgets as well.
Oh yeah, isn’t Alaska up there with those other unaccounted for states Barry said he visited? Don’t we have 58 or 59 states?

Just because a person is brought up Catholic or Christian or Muslim (which he wasn’t.. only went for two years to the school that was where he was) does NOT make you said religion. I was brought up by an Agnostic, but I’m not Agnostic. Obama may have had a Muslim father or he may not have. But that does not make him Muslim. And EVEN if it did, what difference does it make?? ‘Freedom of Religion” is one of the founding principles, not dictation of religion. HE’S NOT MUSLIM! FCOL! And as many other state.. peace.

When did a candidates family become fair game? I thought Obama told us his wife and family were off limits? Apparently, the far left, in their utter hatred for any Republican, will attack a pregant 17 year old. I sure they would have prefered Ms. Palin to abort her Down’s child, and well as tell her daughter to abort her future grandchild as well. To all the pro-choice people out there, not having an abortion is a choice also.
The far left is showing its true colors with the spewing of hatred against anyone who disagrees with them. And where is NOW? Surely they would come to the aid of Ms. Palin. Oh, I’m sorry I forgot. Ms. Palin doesn’t qualify because she isn’t a liberal Democrat.

Over 80% of major newspaper editors are republicans -don’t think anyone attacked a 17yo girl, however this speaks to the need for sex education in the school system, something Palin opposes. America has the highest teen pregnancy rate of an industrialized nation…. that’s sad -hate for them to force her to marry the 17yo pimply-faced horndog who did it, but I do applaud them for keeping the baby -I don’t believe liberals actually “like” abortions; they “like” not forcing a woman to do something against her will -the far left is hate-spewing or peace/love/dope hippies depending on the situation. I think they flip a coin to decide (if didn’t get this, put on your sarcasm glasses)

As a retired Chief of Police, I to wonder why this trooper is still on the job. The press also reported that the State Police investigation found that the trooper made death threats. In addition, the same report stated that the trooper also fired a Taser at his step son. I wasn’t aware that a State Police Taser is a toy, and that troopers can use them on their children. Apparently the State Police didn’t like it eith, suspending him. If this trooper had done this in a professional agency, he wouldn’t be on the job, and would probably face criminal charges. The Democrats in Alaska should be asking this same question, and should be supporting anyone who would have demanded action and professional conduct.

Gov. Palin did what any other family member would have done having heard the threats of Wooten against her family members. Domestic violence happens everyday in homes across America and many incidents result in death. It does not matter what her position was at the time she informed the proper authority of what she was witness to. Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard and for Wooten to make threats to kill someone while wearing his duty weapon is outrageous. Law enforcement officers lose their jobs and are unable to carry a firearm if found guilty of a crime of domestic violence. In taking the steps that Palin did she may have prevented her loved ones from falling victim to a law enforcement official that was acting irrationally in his personal life. He nstilled fear in memebers of his families lives and had the skill, ability and weapon to carry out his threat. He should have been fired.

Interesting comments. As an older woman, I am scared that she will succeed. This country should know what happens when “someone just like us” is elected to the highest office. The person who was ot mentioned at the RNC convention last week. The person who has led, along with a compliant Republican Congress, this country down a path that will take years to reverse. If you want the same for the next 4 - 8 years, by all means vote for McCain/Palin.
As far as Gov. Palin is concerned, the charges against Trooper Wooten came up in a child custody hearing. If there were death threats, why was he not charged earlier. He sounds lik a doofus, but his killing a moose illegally happen while Palin’s father was in the car. If it is shown that she abused her power in this “Trooper-Gate” inquiry, she should drop out, but she won’t. From other things I’ve read, she is a cut-em-off-at-the-knees type, which is O.K. unless you’re the one being cut.

McCain is 72. His VP pick should be carefully scrutinized. Palin lied about her staff contacting ex-Public Safety Commissioner - denied it, then admitted it. Palin lied about her efforts to kill ‘the bridge’ - she wanted the money, officially killed it because congress was not going to completely fund it, then kept over $100 million dollars that Alaska had received already for the project. Palin, as mayor, put her town $23 million into debt. Palin, as governor, hired a lobbyist, former staffer for Sen Stevens, to get better earmarks from congress. Palin is under investigation for abuse of power (do we really need another VP like Cheney?) Palin’s Experience City Counsel member Wasilla, Alaska - population approximately 7,000+ – 1992 to 1996. Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996 to 2002. Governor of Alaska - population under 700,000 (rank 47th) – from December 2006 to present. Apparently has only traveled abroad once - in 2007 - to visit the Alaska Nat’l Guard in Kuwait with a stop-over in Germany. For comparison, let’s look at Obama’s experience IN ADDITION to his being a community organizer helping the poor get jobs that Palin mocked at the Republican convention: Illinois Senate Legislator 13th District – population 780,000+ – from 1997 to 2004 U.S. Senator Illinois – population 13 million - from 2004 to present. Taught Constitutional Law at University of Chicago Law School for 12 years, and he has extensive travel abroad. Palin’s Pentecostal minister says that Alaska is the refuge for when the end comes. Pentecostals must speak in tongues to be saved. In a video available on You Tube, Palin thanks the minister who ‘saved’ her (so she must have spoken ‘in tongues’). This information is readily available at any reputable news organization. Palin is a ambitious liar and will say anything for attention and power. And she most certainly isn’t qualified to be VP. But hard-core GOPs voted for Bush twice, so it shows how little they really care about this country if they are backing Palin.

After being a lifelong Republican, it has been disturbing to see how venomous and hateful the rhetoric from fellow conservatives have become. I listen to lib-media and hear mistakes, errors and sometiems some bias. I listen to right-wing media, especially Fox who claims to be fair and balanced, and I am amazed. What has happened to disagreeing over substance and platforms? What about standing up for your values and trying to make our country a better place to live and raise children? If we are so right, then the hysteria, nasty interactions and venomous attacks on others is not necessary. I think we are starting to sound a bit desparate, justifying flinging mud as far as possible. I am one who has real concerns about Sarah Palin, but McCain has always been a statesman willing to give all for his country and should have been president 8 years ago. George Bush has been a terrible choice as president and that is not lib-media’s fault. It is George Bush’s fault. We don’t have to be so defensive, it just turns everyone off and they stop listening. McCain is the way to keep the conservative values going, without the bumbling and stumbling of GW. We can still win if we get out our message of family values, fiscal responsibility and a responsible handling of the war. Appeal to people’s sense of right and wrong, but stop the vicious attacks. That is not fighting for America, it is throwing the election away. There is enough substance and truth to put out there, we don’t need to participate in mud slinging and hate compaigns. We sound like a bunch of skinheads instead of patriotc citizens. Wise up before it is too late, the presidency is too important to throw away.
