Greetings from Minnesota

By Aaron Gould Sheinin asheinin@ajc.com

Minneapolis— Part two of the great political road trip of 2008 continues today in Minneapolis. That’s right, Minneapolis.

The Georgia delegation to the Republican National Convention is staying at a hotel in Minneapolis itself. And while the convention will take place at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, expect to see quite a few datelines from Minneapolis as well.

Appearances by Georgians on the podium of the Republican convention podium may not match the Democratic meeting in Denver — where prime slots were reserved for Jimmy Carter, John Lewis and two King children, among others.

Right now, the only two Georgians scheduled to speak to the entire Republican body are Rick Goddard, a retired Air Force general and a candidate for Congress and the Rev. Robert Certain of Marietta. Goddard speaks Monday; Certain on Tuesday.

Goddard, from Warner Robins, is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall of Macon for the central Georgia congressional seat.

Otherwise, Republicans have quite a line-up set for daily events at the Doubletree, where we’re all staying.

An early schedule features speeches or remarks from pollster Frank Luntz on Monday and oilman-turned-wind-power advocate T. Boone Pickens on Thursday. In between, state party leaders such as Secretary of State Karen Handel, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, House Speaker Glenn Richardson, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and Gov. Sonny Perdue are all expected to address their fellow Georgians.

Things kick-off tonight with a welcome reception at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Shuttles leave from the lobby. Y’all come!

I encourage my fellow democrats to back off. Ourside does not need to run off more female voters. I know that we are passionate, but we must pick our words carefully. An exapmle of what not to post can be found by reading Bridge to Nowhere posted at 4:34.

I predict that the McCain- Palin ticket will win by 5 points in Nov. Obama is in trouble. Zogby has McCain-Palin up by two. That means that Obama got no bounce from his record breaking Carbon Footprint, Convention. Palin is hot, qualified, tough, and conservative. She will atrrack lot of the voters in Ohio, MI, WV, PA, IN, the mountain west, and the other “bitter-clingers” that Obama had such a difficult time with.

I trust that Church is right and the attacks from the left will become loonier, crazier, and more desperate. With the RNC scaling down the convention actitvities (Hello Aaron do you follow the news at all?), and MCain and Palin heading to the region to offer support and assistance, this is shaping up to be a great race. Just think of the contrast between the 2 conventions. Barack’s ego boosting love fest and the buttoned down, serious business operation of McCain’s.

Hope y’all have a great time in St. Paul.

McCain seems like a nice enough old guy, a little bit senile, but it seems that he was thinking with his wrong head this time. What his choice of Palin proves incontrovertibly (I hope all y’all repukes know this big word) that he is not capable of being President. We don’t want another decider-guy. Maybe he’s tired of Cindy and wants another wife. I’m sure by Alaska standards Palin is hot: not too much choice up that way, I suppose.

Y’all imposed that idiotic moron Bush down our throats, and now, as is often said, here comes the payback. Of course, most repukes are pretty stupid or they wouldn’t be repukes in the first place—but the country is tired of y’all. Get out of the way and let someone with some brains lead the show for a change.

Enjoy your five minutes and get back to your cubicles. The Boss will be along shortly to tell you what to do and what to think.

McCain=Bush. Even a dumb repuke should be able to understand a simple equation.

Wow Palin thinks rape victims should carry their fetuses to term. How could a female Democratic voter NOT vote for McCain now?

It is Bush’s fault that people get raped. It is Bush’s fault that Palin hates killing babies. It is Bush’s fault that Palin did not abort her retard son. I hate Bush.

It is Bush’s fault that Mike K is trying to get me hooked on Xanax. It is Bush’s fault that Mike wants to make abortions mandatory for everyone. It is Bush’s fault that my Democratic party is full of baby killers and Abortionist. I hate Bush!!!!!!!

When libs attack you, or hijack your name (as above) it means that they are scared. They were hoping for a bump in the polls when Obama picked Sen. “Plugs” Biden to be his running mate. No bump materialized. Then, after the speechifying and coronation, in Denver they were expecting a bounce. And that bounce did not materialize either. See, in the lib mind (if you can call it that), this is their year. It is their turn. And they cannot believe that Obama is under performing in the polls. What they fail to realize is that they have nominated another northern lib. Northern libs do not win. All they have to do is look to history, yet they refuse. Which is fine by me. I hope that the libs keep nominating northern libs. I like to win. Peace.

Karen Handel will speak to the Georgia delegation.

They’ve got some planning/executing to do. They’ve got to figure out how to disqualify that PSC pest Powell. Also, they gotta figure out how to reject all of these new voter registration forms that keep pouring in to the Secretary of State’s office.

Fixin’ elections is hard work, Handel is going need a raise or a lucrative K street job.
