Third hand info on McCain’s vice-presidential pick

Just hung up the phone with Joe McCutchen, a Republican activist up in Ellijay.

Joe says he just got a call from a buddy — a fellow in Georgia who prints political paraphernalia for a living.

The buddy — McCutchen wouldn’t give his name — said he just got a rush order from the John McCain campaign, for 10,000 bumper-stickers to be sent to Minneapolis. And what is the message?

McCain-Romney.

It’s slightly more than third-hand info. The bumper-sticker maker just called the Insider to confirm, but indeed asked not to be identified.

I am calling Shannigens! Why would someone in Ellijay be making signs to send to MN?

If this is true then,

1) Those who ordered the stickers will know who leaked the info so he can expect to not get any more orders from pols who want to control when their information is released

2) This doesn’t mean that McCain has picked Romney. It might be that the stickers were ordered by those who WANT McCain to pick Romney. They might even know that this particular printer is a blabber mouth and are using him to get McCain-Romney into the news in hopes that it will pressure McCain to make that pick.

Brilliant. The most openly religious zealot in the primaries (apart from Huckabee the Nutabee), who the Religious Reich couldn’t stomach because he was—gasp!—a MORMON.

Yeah, that’ll bring in the faithful all right.

The media reported the exact same type of rumor a week ago — the alleged printing of “Obama-Bayh” bumper stickers. Chill out and wait a couple of days before you start opining on the impact of a VP selection that hasn’t even been announced.

I hope not… McCain has a real shot to truly unite the country by being the centrist he is.. and Im not sure Romney fits that bill.. it panders to the Right to appease Limbaugh.

Jason’s right! Probably put in the order and asked them to get it set up, ready to run and if need be cancel it, only having to pay set up costs.

Probably somebody elsewhere in the country set up to print some for Lieberman and others.

Just wait till Friday

Doesn’t Romney worship the Devil?

McCain will select Romney only if he wants to loose in November. Romney will never unit our party.

If McCain is smart he will select Sarah Palin.

Romney with his successful business background would be an incredible pick for McCain and would be great for the stock market and the economy.

McCain could not have a better pick, I predict Romney will be a great President in the future.

I kind of think it’s kind of like printing t-shirts for both teams before the world series. Sure half of them end up in the garbage, but the amount money made from being the first vendor with the championship tees covers the cost of the waste. Somewhere there are boxes of bumper stickers that say McCain-Lieberman too, just in case.
