We’ll all wear cardigan sweaters to celebrate
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Organizers of the Democratic National Convention just announced that former President Jimmy Carter has been given a speaking role on the opening night of festivities in Denver.
Monday’s theme is the story of Barack Obama. The featured prime-time speaker will be Michelle Obama. No clue as to where on the program Carter will appear.
The same evening will include a tribute to U.S. Sen. Teddy Kennedy, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor — and who, by challenging Carter in the 1980 presidential primary, did much to prevent the Georgian from winning a second term.
Not to say that Carter holds a grudge. Just to note that the threads of history are often tangled.

Our Convention in Minnesota will be SO much more entertaining! I won’t miss a minute! Tell me, what are we going to wear to top the band-aids with little purple hearts on them? That was a hoot and a half! The classiest act on any continent, that’s for sure. Take that to the bank. In for a penny, in for a pound. But seriously y’all, how ARE we going to top that bit of magic brilliance?

We’re gonna reintroduce to our country the only man who has seriously addressed an energy crisis, is truly not afraid to talk about his faith - and back it up with works - and will be remembered as a man of character who had the respect of the world during and after his administration.
Oh, and he plays a mean harmonica.
Bring it on, Jimmy!
Peace, y’all.

Will Carter riot, along with the rest of the lib thugs, in a sweater? Is it appropriate to wear a cardigan while hurling feces at cops? What exactly is the dress code that democrat rioters must adhere to? Do in need to sign in at the Recreate68.org desk or can I register online? One week left and some much to do. Peace.

Ted Kennedy “did much” to prevent Carter from winning reelection? No - Carter did plenty enough himself to assure that outcome. A loser and a joke!

If Carter’s energy policies had been continued over the last 28 years, here are some likely outcomes:
-oil would be a much less important part of the world economy than it is, so
-Pres. Ahmadinejad (and the mullahs who are really in charge) would not have so much money with which to bribe their citizens and remain in power;
-Pres. Chavez of Venezuela would not have so much money with which to…well, see above;
—Pres. Putin of Russia would be in a much weaker position, because the Russian economy would be much weaker, there would be less money for the Russian military, and Europe would not be worried about the Russian oil it depends on; and
-We would be selling millions of hybrid or all-electric cars to China & India.
In sum, energy policy is not only a domestic economic issue, it is the primary national security issue. Trying to solve this by offshore drilling is like trying to empty one of the Great Lakes with a teacup - it’s just fiddling around at the margins. The real key is conservation & alternative energy, so that oil is less & less important. Jimmy Carter was right.

Well, it is about time! Jimmy Carter should speak at the convention as he is a former President and a current holder of the Nobel Peace Prize. Tell me, how many Nobel Laureates will the GOP Convention have speaking? In fact, after leaving office, how many Republicans have held the status of noted humanitarian and broker for peace around the world that has remainded with Jimmy? How many GOP exes have started a housing movement the size of Habitat for Humanity as Jimmy did? In fact, how many GOP exes have done anything other than sulk, rest on their millions and write their memoirs?BPJ is right, no matter whether you liked Jimmy or were GOP or Democrat, you cannot escape the fact that Jimmy Carter’s policies would have had a hugely positive impact on energy costs had they been continued and not abandoned by the Republicans.A joke, James, I think perhaps you will be laughing out of the otherside of your face after the election. In the meantime, take a gander at your standard bearer. Wasn’t it McCain who most recently reproached the Russians, saying, “…countries don’t invade other countries…” Where has that man been during the Bush administration. Asleep at the wheel I think. Wasn’t it McCain who cosponsored an immigration bill with Obama and then said he would not vote for it? Wasn’t it McCain who has flipped and mostly flopped on insurance for children, the energy crisis, the housing crisis, minimum wage, or anything that might benefit working Americans? I believe it was indeed McCain who supported every single one of GB’s disasterous policies and you are now paying the price at the pump, at the grocery store, and every where you go. Do you think that’s funny, James. You go Jimmy. I will be watching and listening with pleasure.D. Deb
