Bob Barr on a world full of idiots, and a wounding by Sean Hannity
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Washington Post has a Style section piece this morning on Bob Barr, the former Georgia congressman and Libertarian candidate for president.
The article leads on a few Barr aphorisms. Among them:
— “No matter how much power government has, it never has enough.”
— “The world is full of idiots.”
—“The most difficult thing about politics is dealing with people with really bad breath.”
— “Never run a 100-yard dash in a 90-yard room.”
The piece also reveals that the unsmiling Barr was wounded by an April interview in which he was raked over the coals by Fox News’ Sean Hannity:
“He was being downright unpleasant, as I recall,” he says, his voice rising a little. “There’s never an excuse to not be pleasant and civil.”

Bob Barr need not be upset by Sean “Vanity-Hannity’s” personal attack. He’s made a career out of that. After all, Vanity-Hannity’s business is not about being “fair and balanced” in presenting the news as he falsely claims, it’s about entertainment. And anyone who thinks what Vanity-Hannity has to offer is anything other than that, is a sucker. If Vanity-Hannity could sell his ego by the pound, he’d be far richer than he already is. He’s created a loyal, if creepy group of listeners with a right-wing bias who find political figures like Bob Barr not right-wing enough. Vanity-Hannity was born in the wrong era. If he’d been born in the early 1900s and in Germany (or Russia), he could have done well as a propagandist for Adolf Hitler.

Wounded by Hannity? Please. Hannity is a suck-up to whoever is currently in the lead.
His tactic is to over-talk someone who is beating him in a debate, and not give the other person a chance to speak. Once in a while a caller who isn’t intimidated by his “Mr. Liberal” condescension will effectively make points and it becomes clear by how Hannity reacts.
Barr, you have far more principles than Hannity could ever claim to have. Truth gives you power.

And it would be a severe mistake to take Hannity seriously. He’s a joke, and should be laughed off as such.

Ya know, when Sean was here at WGST, he wasn’t all THAT bad. Bad, but not utterly intolerable the way he is now. He once had Betty Friedan, RIP, on his show; I called in and Sean just sat back, shut-up, and let me and Ms. Friedan chat away. Then again, I’ve never gotten close enough to Vanity-Hannity to get a whiff of his current breath. Whew.

Ah the Hannity naysayers abound. You should be worried about Shaun Hannity! You should also be worried about all those who listen to him on radio and FOXNews. He wouldn’t be earning all those millions if none listened. You are just jealous you are not qualified to do what Hannity does. And you hate him because of his influence. sosorry LMAO

If you’d bother to come up for air every once in a while and listen to both sides of an argument, you might discover some truths. Then again, that would take some critical thinking, not just ideological thinking, so never mind.
