Kudzu Vine lands a Senate debate between Jones, Martin

Georgia politics is about to advance one step deeper into the Internet.

David McLaughlin, host of the Kudzu Vine, said he’s landed the two remaining Democrats in the U.S. Senate race for a 7 p.m. Sunday forum — the first high-profile debate that I know of to be conducted wholly on the Internet.

This is where you’ll need to click to listen in.

The Democratic-oriented Kudzu Vine operates via the platform offered by www.blogtalkradio.com. Participants will be sitting at home — or wherever they choose to be — while McLaughlin directs the program from his computer in Rome.

Vernon Jones and Jim Martin, the two surviving Democrats, won’t confront each other. But a panel that includes McLaughlin and former Democratic candidate Josh Lanier will pose questions.

Kudzu Vine has already made an impact in the Senate race. This is the site where, one year ago, Jones acknowledged that he had voted twice for George W. Bush — which Martin has highlighted in his campaign.

Hey Jim, ask Vernon about why he had four police chiefs in five years, and why morale in the DeKalb County Police Dept. is at an all-time low.

Hey Vernon, ask Jim why he lied about the Lanier endorsement, failed to file his FEC report as required by federal law, and has an imported campaign staff.

Now, let me see if I understand this. Vernon Jones designs a campaign flier suggesting Barak Obama endorsed him when, in fact, he didn’t and won’t endorse him; then he accuses Jim Martin who supported John Edwards of not wanting Barak Obama to be President when he, Jones, voted twice to elect Republican Bush as President. Someonme needs to check Jones’s cool-aid or see if he’s smoking wacky tobacky, because that man’s all messed up. Our next U.S. Senator? God forbid !!!

To the commenter in reference to the Dekalb police, I do not feel the police morale is low especially when they kept their jobs and other cities and counties are being threatened with lay-offs or ferlows without pay. Grumpy your facts are totally off base, that flier did not have anywhere written on it that he implied that Barack Obama endorsed him. Mr. Martin himself made an issue out of who Mr. Jones voted for, but when he was asked by the media who he voted for he said that should be a private matter. So what I understand as being a hypocrite is that I can share that information about another candidate, but when I’m asked it becomes a private matter. Since you making an issue out of who Mr. Jones voted for in 2000 or 2004, will that vote be the reason that you would vote for someone who is guilty of several failed policies as well as two kids being killed in the department that he was responsible for overseeing. Clearly if he voted against Obama that is a sign that he’s not for him and probably would carry that type of vote to the senate if Obama is elected. Wake up people look beyond the things that does’nt matter.

Vernon Jones campaign strategy shows very little respect fot he electorate. Unsolicited, he admits to voting for George Bush twice and is now trying to make Martin’s support of former Presidential candidate, John Edwards, an issue in the runoff. It will not work.

A deciding factor will be Vernon Jones questionable Democratic credentials. After ingrate Zell Miller, Democrats will not take a similar chance. Other factors will include their differences on the issues, which are stark.

Go KV! Go David! Great job setting-up the debate. But Jim hon, high-profile mud-slinging (call it “debate” if you will) occurs virtually ever second on the Internets. You of all people should know that by now. It’s just not typically as, uh, “formalized” as Kudzu Vine will likely make it behave as, although I sure hope we have some delightful zingers and slingers and trash talkin’, being online now. Lord knows those GPB/APC debates are total snoozers. Expect even more and more online political activity, boring or otherwise, to be brought to us over the fresh, indie, Internets airwaves. I hear that’s what your management tells ya too! And they would surely know.

To VSquad: You’ve got to be a punk to be threatening folk not to comment on lies made by your “boss,” Vernon. Barak support Vernon? Barak’s got too much class to support a man of Vernon’s questionable morals.

VSquad’s comments only goes to show the kind of ignorant street trash that supports Vernon, the Republican.

Vernon Jones has always been fake. I’m glad he lost. To live in the blackest county in GA and vote for Bush. Shame.

I live in Dekalb, and have never seen him on the street once in all these years-

How you gonna try to ride Obama, but you play dirty, vote republican, and lie? You wil never be Obama- and you don’t have the cushy CEO job to crawl back to.

See ya at Wendy’s vernon.
