McKinney and Barr: Not an alliance, but a ‘mutual reaching’

While this is slightly dated, Newsweek has posted a sometimes-testy interview with Green Party presidential nominee Cynthia McKinney, who says she’s shooting for 5 percent of the popular vote in November.

The former Georgia congresswoman is at her most interesting when she addresses a former colleague:

Q: There are quite a few prominent third-party candidates running this year, including your former fellow Congressman from Georgia, Bob Barr, over at the Libertarian Party. Is he basically the conservative version of you?

McKinney: The only thing I would say about Bob is that it’s interesting that Georgia is so well-represented in the non-major party lineup. Of course, I worked in the Congress for a long time with Bob Barr and, in fact, members of the Libertarian Party have reached out to me on several occasions this year and I expect there will be more mutual reaching.

Q: So you might actually be working together on some issues? McKinney: I didn’t say that.

What does mutual reaching mean, then?

It means that where there is the possibility of having discussions, then I wouldn’t turn down discussions. There’s nothing afoot, if that’s what you mean. I would take it issue by issue, and see what the future brings.

What a joke! McKinney is about as sharp as a bowling ball, and Barr would do well to run as far away from her as possible. The members of her former district sent a message to the rest of the country by voting her out of office; we should really listen to that message and quit wasting time on nutcases like her.

McKinney is a National embarrassment. The fact that there are some that still take her seriously is shocking. Did she reach out to Barr with her cell phone the same way she reached out to that Cop in DC?

Who cares about the McKinnely/Clemente ticket anyways? Their main platform wants to deal with reparations and Hip-Hop for Christ’s sake. All Green party members should vote Nader in 08.

‘Mike’ believes that the emerging alternative parties must be tamped down by his national security state cointelpro operations.

Nader has hurt the Green Party with his top-down refusal to be a Green with ecological wisdom and grass-roots democracy engagement with ten key values. And Nader has achieved half-as-many votes every time he ran using the Green Party ballot line.

All Green Party members are united to elect McKinney/Clemente. We expect the Naderites (registered Green to attempt to destroy the Green Party) to be continued to be exposed for their refusal to repudiate their militarism and to not abandon their democrat party stranglehold in their inner circle around Nader. Without his inner circle, Nader would cease being a schill for the national security state and the democrat party. Chances of that are nil.

This is old — we noted it on CynthiaMcKinney.com a week ago. The Newsweek reporter may have caught Ms. McKinney stretching the truth again; thankfully, she didn’t detail what was meant by “mutual reaching,” as none of us needs that mental image.

Feel free to check our site for analysis on Ms. McKinney’s goings-on, and how her candidacy is affected by popular news stories, such as magazines’ cover bias (“Obias”) toward Barack Obama.

A vote for Barr is a vote for Obama.

“A vote for Barr is a vote for Obama.” Tell that to Democrats… as often as you can please.

To the liberty conscious, a vote for Bob Barr is a vote for America’s true values. For those who are interested in one, another or both not winning a vote for Bob Barr is a vote against Obama, and a vote against McCain.

Anyone who implies you are throwing away your vote, or says that you are voting for Obama because you didn’t vote for McCain, has forgotten just who’s vote they are talking about.

The only wasted vote is the one where you voted because someone made you feel like you didn’t have a choice. I’d suggest you tell them where they can put their opinion and then vote with your heart.

If you are inclined to do so, I’d also invite you to pray about it. I’m inclined to think that the Lord does not want you voting for evil, even if it is the lesser one.

I believe there are great values that Libertarians, Greens, Naderites, etc., SHOULD be working on together, most notably campaign access and striking down the unreasonable ballot provisions that discriminate against small parties.

I was at a protest in Manchester, NH at the end of Winter, protesting Fox’s exclusion of Paul in their “debate.” Our group, already large, was joined by hundreds of Kucinich supporters. In any kind of conflict (even non-violent conflict like politics and peaceful protesting), it is ALWAYS better to have as many allies as possible. It doesn’t mean that you have to agree on everything.
