Nunn with Obama in Indiana

Former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn of Georgia will join Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama in Indiana on Wednesday for a summit on national security.

It is believed to be one of the first, if not the first, joint appearance between Nunn and the man who could make him the vice presidential nominee.

Nunn is believed to be on Obama’s list of potential running mates and his presence in a key swing state on Wednesday will surely bolster that speculation. Nunn is an expert in foreign affairs, an area that could be a weakness for Obama in a general election match-up with Republican John McCain.

The event Wednesday is at Purdue University, and is Obama’s first trip to the state since claiming the nomination. U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana will join Nunn and Obama on the visit and it must be noted that Bayh, too, has been mentioned as a potential vice presidential nominee.

The only problem with Sen. Nunn as Obama’s VP choice is the ticket will be upside-down.

Sam Nunn will make a great VP! Obama and Nunn could finally bring balance to the universe; eradicating any remnants of the Bush/Cheney fiasco..

Considering Sam Nunn has told every previous Democrat running for President what to go do with themselves, this seems a pretty big development. I wonder though if Sam Nunn does end up on the ticket, if it’s for his Foreign Affairs experience, or the fact that he is oneof two democrats left in the state of Georgia, that are still repsected by most of the people and would gain votes that way.

The only problem with a comment like RJ’s is that his name is not spelled out Real Jacka$$.

I’ve said all along that Foreign Policy is Obama’s one glaring weakness as far as I’m concerned. I’m glad to see someone like Senator Nunn in the loop for a potential VP nod.

I have always respected Sam Nunn as one of the country’s best leaders, however, its hard to believe that he would stoop so low as to be a partner to a muslim candicate running for president. Sam would make a super President himself should anything happen to obama (notice I would not ever capitalize obama’s name). I really don’t knoq what this nation is coming to when a person like obama can run for President, God help us if he’s elected.

As Cindy T was saying on some Sunday talk show (they all turn into one big political media haze after a while), Obama’s likely going to go with the dude with the blond-haired kids. That’ll print big. (Photograph well with Obama’s family.) I forget who “dude” is; obviously not a southerner then. Heck, Nunn’s kids are likely older than me!

Then again, W did pick Cheney. And look where that got us.

I think RJ is right. And no, it’s not because Obama’s (half) black, it’s becasue he’s is an idiot.

I don’t know much about Nunn, but if he’s willing to put his name next to Obama’s, then he can’t be that good!

If black people really want an experienced person (who is black, because apparently RACE MATTERS to blacks since it’s so important for a black man to be president now no matter if he can do the job or not) to run for president, they need to talk Colin Powell into running!

That’s a man who will have my vote any day!!!!

Obama will be the downfall of this country!

If Obama is elected, I hope those of you who have relished and promoted negative press toward the current administration are equally as understanding once the tables are turned on you. Your blaming of Bush will be over and self accountability for you candidates lack of a stable platform will be in the spotlight with no excuses accepted. As a person who respects the office of President, I pray that which ever one is elected, they do a good job and this country can get away from choosing sides like it’s a college rivilary game. Whether you voted for them or not, their success is OUR success and their failure is OUR failure. Grow up and realize that.

Obama and Nunn sounds like a fantastic combination. We need to come together as a nation to restore this country to its position of leadership and world-wide respect. Our economy has been wrecked by neglect of current administration. We are the world’s largest DEBTOR nation.(Disgraceful). We need to get past race, political affiliation, and all of the hatred and bigotry and restore this nation to true creeds it was founded upon. Liberty and justice for all. One nation under God.Of the people, for the people and by the people..If we can’t do this;but continue the way we’re going-this nation will be lost to our enemies without having to fire a single shot.. God help us all..

Senator Obama is no more Muslim than you are Vern Clark. So what are you afraid of? After what Bush and Cheney have done to us/U.S., an intelligent man who has actually worked for his own accomplishments (not having been born with a silver spoon in his mouth) is very refreshing to me.
BTW, aren’t you forgetting that the Senator is a half white man too? Now that is what I’d be afraid of!

Vern Clark makes me firghtened for the future of American… There’s this growing segment of the population that appears to have stopped believing in legitimate debate on the issues and think winning elections is about fear mongering and demonizing the opposition. I guess this has been around for as long as politics, but seems to be growing. I don’t have scientific proof, but that’s probably ok with Vern, my guess is he stopped believing in science too…

Tray,

Colin Powell was actually in a great position to run in 96, but there was a great concern for his safety, being the first black President. It was so bad that Colin Powell’s wife begged him not to run. And he didn’t.

But the polls back then predicted that if he would have ran again President Clinton, he would have beat him by over 20 points.

But Colin Powell will be in Obama’s cabinet. Trust me.

CJ at 11:48:

Funny how you overlook the fact that the Bush/Cheney combo have served as Governor, Congressman, Chief-of-Staff to POTUS, Secretary of Defense, business owner, and CEO of a mega-corporation—to mention a few. What are Obama’s “own accomplishments”?

If Obama is elected, the presidency will be his first job with real managerial responsibility. If he were being considered for a management position at a shoe store, I might overlook his dearth of management experience.

But given that he is running for the most important job in the world, his experience as a “community organizer” does nothing to even come close to qualifying him for the job.

JFK came within a gnat’s whisker of getting us into a nuclear war—and he had both military experience and a much longer senatorial record. His Russian opponent knew he was inexperienced, weak, and vulnerable.

Obama may make you feel good when you vote for him. But he knows nothing about economics—and little about the military, foreign affairs, or even what’s important to most Americans. His own financial disclosure records show his investment experience is mostly limited to a checking account and a few CDs (if you ignore his Rezko real estate experience).

He is purely ego-driven which is equivalent to idolatry. Obama isn’t a god I’m willing to worship. And you shouldn’t either.

Good points, J-

But Barack Obama is also a born-again, Evangelical Christian. There’s a whole lot of evangelical Christians out there that doesn’t agree with everything on the Religious Right. Many Christians believe that if we, as Christians, live our lives in accordance to Scripture, and make our stances and cases before the people; along with lives that withstand scrutiny, people may wish to turn their hearts towards God.

But if Christians merely try to legislate a moral compass without adhering to our own views of morality ourselves, people would just call us hypocrites and totally discount all of our references to God as mere religious banter.

You people really want to create change in the government? Look at Congress!!!! Budget approval, earmarks, pork barrels? Congress. Declare war or cut funding for armed services? Congress. Confirm appointments? Congress.

I don’t care which party you’re with: Stop sending the same people to Congress year after year and then maybe you’ll see something change.

Vern, one can only hope that you are 99 years old with one foot in the grave and the other on a slippery slope because advanced senility is your only excuse. OBAMA IS NOT A MUSLIM, HE IS A BAPTIST. GOOD GRIEF, THERE HAS BEEN ENOUGH PRESS ABOUT HIS RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION, BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE THAT EVEN AN IDIOT LIKE YOU COULD HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT BY NOW. Please go change your “depends” you will feel better and probably smell better.

I know it is frightening to folks like you with only rumors, no facts, and a cart load of nebulous prejudice against anyone who is not “just like you.” But, I would be much more afraid if a presidential candidate were fixed on continuing to kill our children in a failed war, was known to be of uncertain temper, appeared publicly to be unwilling to support a bill he previously co-sponsored, and had not a clue how to help this country climb out of the morass of debt we have incurred in the last eight years. Oops, wait a minute; we do have a candidate like that, McCain.

How much better to have a candidate who has gained the respect and obvious support of Sam Nunn, one of the most respected lawmakers in the country (on both sides of the aisle), a candidate who worked hard for everything he has achieved, who has learned to respect and value all sides of his heritage. Goodness gracious, we do have a candidate like that, Obama.

I am pleased to see Sam Nunn step up for Obama. Whether or not Sam chooses to or is offered the VP side of the ticket is not the issue. The issue is, that Sam has come out of a well earned retirement to step up and support Obama. I do not believe Sam would ever support a candidate in whom he did not have complete confidence. I personally think Obama would stand an even better chance to carry the South with Nunn on the ticket; but Nunn by your side anywhere is a good thing.

Sam Nunn wasn’t that great when he left office and he would be out of touch with real life military intelligence as it exists today. That’s because it took a real “MAN” like Reagan, who wasn’t afraid to stand up to little bullies! Rickaroo, POP QUIZ: WHY hasn’t this country been attacked since 9-11? Is it because (a) we captured Bin Laden in Pakistsan six years ago and brought him to justice? (b) our borders are secure now and cargo coming into our ports is all inspected? (c) we can no longer legally purchase cost effective drugs from Canada? (d) the Gitmo detainees have been tried and convicted in a court of law? (e) our economy here at home is strong? or (f) Bush made a deal with Bin Laden: “We won’t capture you if you don’t attack during my administration”? (g) After we attacked a country that DIDN’T attack us, the rest of the world thought we were just too crazy to kill? (h) Halliburton, Blackwater and Parsons are just making too darned much dough in Iraq to warrant invading a different country now? or (i) that Dave Thomas guy from Wendy’s died in January 2002, and we all know what a troublemaker HE was!?

I think that the Honorable Sam Nunn is an excellent choice for Senator Obama. Senator Obama needs someone with experience and most importantly, wisdom.

He needs to have someone who is appealing and who has a commanding respect of Republican Senators like John Warner. We need more people like Sam Nunn. Unlike some other Presidential Candidates, Sam Nunn has a major institution named after him: Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. I do not think that other potential V.P.s will be able to say that.

Sam Nunn also has the understanding of Nuclear technology, which will be important in dealing with nations like Iran, Saudi Arabia and North Korea. He may not have the star power, but he does not need the star power.

Sam Nunn is the behind the scenes man that Senator Obama could use as an overall asset. Out of all the candidates, I respect Sam Nunn the most.

To Vern, Hollow point!

No one person runs the country by themselves!

The company that is best run is the person who can choose quality and qualified indivduals!

Case in point! Colin Powell quit the Bush cabinet because he knew they were wrong with the war after he received the real report.

No country nor big Corporation is ran by one person who makes all the decisions himself.

Case and point Mr. Obama and his team used a strategy to defeat the biggest DEMOCRATIC machine in the country.

That is why he is qualified become the next president of the United States.

That is why you cling to you guns and religion. You think someone is going to take something away from you so you vote REPLUBLICANS who have done nothing in the past 30 years to prevent prices from increasing. ALL they have done is buy more oil from the Saudis.

If you really was a CHRISTAIN or so-called religious you would not be on this sight stating lies about someone.

So if you are in Christ hate, name calling and sinful remarks would disappear from your language.

But alas you believe in separation of Church and State. Translation I can be a fool Monday thru Saturday, then Lord I will honor you during the 2 hours in Church!

Hi people, Tray here again…

Hmmm….let’s see…where to begin…

Webspinner-2 things

1)When you use parentheses, don’t forget to close one when you open one (who’s smarter?)

2)Give him any degree you want, doesn’t matter, if you’ve EVER been to college, you’d know idiots can get degrees. Oh, wow, he’s on the senate…yeah, that’s not too big a deal either.

What have i done with my life you ask?? Well, I hold a steady job making enough money so my wife can stay home if she chooses. I’m raising a 4 year old boy who has the best mannerisms you’ve seen, oh, and i don’t associate myself with sacreligious, racist ministers (with which Obama still keeps his company).

Done with you…Next??

Al, who so politely called me a hater… You pointed out that Bush/Cheney (who i both loathe completely) had all the experience in the world and it didn’t matter, they still screwed up. Well that’s great, so the answer is to pick someone who has absolutley no experience??? WHAT THE HELL KIND OF SOLUTION IS THAT??

It’s the kind of solution Whitey has been using to hold people back, right??

While i agree that it is time for a woman president or a black president (men, albeit white men, but men in general haven’t done well), please don’t let it be Obama. Even if he surrounds himself with ‘more intelligent’ people, those people aren’t there holding his hand when he goes out to play with the Big Dogs (other country’s leaders). So, having no experience is worse. Bush/Cheney had the experience, they just didn’t know how to use it.

If you have no experience, then you can’t use it (can’t use something you don’t have!!).

Pretty clear choice to me.

NO FOR OBAMA- YES FOR ANYONE ELSE!!!

To “Worried American”: You are showing your lack of knowledge of what a true christian is. In your education of “Manny” regarding the definition of a Christian you stated, “but anyone who harbors hatred for anyone of any color, sex, or creed is not a Christian. Christian means to be “Christ” like. Osama thinks Rev. Wright walks on water and harbors the same views as this hatred filled fake. Osama is nothing more than a hypocrite who harbors hatred and egotistical views toward anyone who isn’t a Far left wingnut”

Clearly, you are you are mistaken as to what a “Christian” is. If you think what you said to Manny is in any way Christ like, you really need to think about going to Church. A Christian wouldn’t purposefully hurt another human being by something as simple as calling that person “Osama” when their Christian name is “Obama”. That was just plain meanspirited. Also, while your diatribe states that you wouldn’t hold a person’s skin color against him/her, that is clearly what you are doing. It appears that you are basing your opinion(s) on what you have been told, what you have seen on tv, or what you just want to believe about Barrack Obama. John McCain has his own skeletons. I didn’t see where you were bashing him. If Obama weren’t black, you wouldn’t be this angry.

So, if you want to appear Christ like and use his teachings, I suggest you really learn them first.

I have an urgent news flash: Obama can win the Presidency withot winning Georgia!!! Senator Nunn would be a great asset to Sen. Obama’s campaign and administration; but, the reality of it all is, he can still do it without him! Personally, I like Sen. Evan Bayh as V.P. and Sen. Nunn as either Sec. of State or Sec. of Defense because of his diplomacy skills and expertise in foreign (nuclear) affairs.

Tray and everybody else who keeps up this stupid Rev. Wright sh!t, I’m so sick of hearing it. Did anybody listen to the entire sermon? Do you realize he was quoting someone else when saying, “America’s chickens have come home to roost”? Did you know it was a white man he was quoting? Did you know it was an United States Ambassador to whom he was quoting? Don’t believe me? Here’s the sermon right here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ&feature=related

Also please see the other sermon which everybody keeps holding on to about God D*mming America.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvMbeVQj6Lw

All of y’all keeping up this Rev. Wright bullsh!t is starting to get on my nerves because you are acting like you don’t have any blood on your hands. It was some of your family members out there in these here GA woods lynching my kin. It was some of y’alls’ family members throwing rocks at my momma and them when they were trying to go to the newly integrated schools. It was some of y’alls’ family that tried to stop my right to vote. It was some of y’all who voted for George Duke even though he was a known Grand Wizard of the KKK. It was some of y’all who burned down churches of the same God you say you love so much. Do I need to keep going down the list? The old folks had a saying of “Don’t throw stones in a glass house”. Now you ask why do I bring all of this up when this article was originally about political news, well reading some of these posts have just opened up some real deep wounds that I have tried my best to forgive but you aren’t letting me forget. You want to keep screaming how Rev. Wright is this evil racist monster who spoke evil in the pull pit but yet how many of Y’alls pastors actually took part in a lynching, a beating, a rape, rights abuse, false accusations, and blasphemies angainst the Lord? Hmmm? Now I’ve posted the links for you to watch the actual sermons that the media took sound bites from but how many of y’all are going to really watch and get the truth? And even after posting them, how many of y’all are going to keep up the same lies and say Barrack Obama is just the same as his racist pastor? My list is long. I can go back 400 years all the way back to slavery. Who wants to bring up some dirt? Let’s see who can bring up more?

1) If you would get off your racist kick that died 15 years ago you might make some sense. What my grandparents MIGHT have done or for better…what my GREAT grandparents MIGHT have done has no correlation (is that too big of a word for you) with what I do. Just because it is in my family tree, doesn’t mean that I am as racist as they were (or might have been). You blame all whites (just like Wright, Sharpton, and Jackson) for something that was done (I bet) way before your life time.
2) A flag doesn’t symbolize anything. You are putting just as much stupidity and effort into protesting the original flag as individuals who are opposing the new one. Get over it already. 3) osama doesn’t want to serve anyone. He wants it for the history and himself. Already he is flip flopping and switching his views. And just so you know—-no one is scrutinizing anyone. They brought it on their selves. Osama’s wife said she wasn’t even proud to be an American. Isn’t that contradicting to wanting to help America? Hello???? And you say he wants to help me? I can’t wait till the day when he shows up at my door to help me? When is that going to be? When he raises taxes? When he tells me I have to choose HIS healthcare plan? When we get attacked again by the terrorist because he chose to turn an eye and pull our soldiers out early? Help me how??? And more over, just what we need….more government help? What happened to working hard to make it happen on our own instead of wanting the government to pay for everything? 4) good “white” folk you say? Why even clarify “white” folk? If you truly want the racist divide to be gapped, then you wouldn’t use “white” folk like osama does. You would call us American’s and citizens just like most of us think of you. 5) I do pray to God everyday that nothing happens to this man. Even though I’m not voting for him, I still pray for him. But according to him and you, I’m just some TYPICAL white person that doesn’t care about YOUR so-called past. You know what? I PRAY FOR YOU TOO.

Rev. Wright is a lunatic. Obama threw him under the bus months ago. Obama is a fair-weather friend.

lucylou,

This blog wasn’t about McCain. If it was, I might have a few things to say about him. And I guess you don’t think Paul was Christian either when he told the church at Corinth to shape up. That wasn’t Christ “like” I figure in your opinion. It’s up to other Christians to squash the fake teachings that Christ only loves blacks and hates white people America (which OBAMA heard for 20 years under Rev. Wright). But wait, you think that’s ok too uh? To be Christ like is to love everyone. Not sit back and let them teach fake doctrine. Remember what Jesus did in the synagogue. He got angry and ran all of them (the ones making his sanctuary a mockery) out. It’s time for Christians stand up and teach the true MEANING of Christian.

Just because I won’t vote for this man, has nothing to do with his skin color. It has to do with this stance in politics and Morals. Skin color has nothing to do with it. That’s the problem here. Everyone who doesn’t vote for Obama is called racist because it is ASSUMED they aren’t voting for him because of his skin color. Regardless of what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (again, fakes) tell everyone….not all American’s hate.

By the way, what church do you go to?

There is this baseless myth out there suggesting that John McCain is somehow some expert on foreign policy because he was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War….THAT IS SOME COMPLETE BULL! He DOES NOT know how to end wars if he thinks doubling-down on every failed policy of the Bush Presidency is going to work a second time around. BARACK OBAMA IS THE ANSWER TO HAVOC THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS WREAKED ON AMERICA OVER THE PAST 30+ YEARS!

And for all of you Clinton supporters who’ve fraudulently reasoned that Barack Obama is to blame for her treatment by the media…GET OVER IT! He ran a campaign and won. She said NOTHING when the media was race-baiting Obama! And if you are foolish enough to vote for McBush, you should have your right to vote revoked for Clinton and McCain have NOTHING IN COMMON!

Obama will be to the Democrats what Reagan was to the Republicans, THANK GOD!!! OBAMA WILL BE PRESIDENT, ALL HAIL TO THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF!!!! 16+ YEARS Democratic Majority!!!

Tell us why Obama is so great? What has he done so far that has made you fall in love with him? Name some accomplishments.

Sam, the New Yorker was pointing out how silly and cartoonish the right-wing hysteria over Obama has become.

And in your own way, you do the same thing, with every post. Welcome to President Obama’s America!

By the way: Obama’s accomplishments—
