Update: Powell back on the ballot

The Insider just got word that Jim Powell will be on the ballot as a PSC candidate Tuesday after all.

We hear Fulton County Superior Court Judge John Goger granted Powell a stay after Secretary of State Karen Handel declared that Powell didn’t meet residency requirements.

Handel said Powell claimed a homestead exemption on a house in Cobb County, which is outside the Public Service Commission district he is hoping to represent.

Powell was one of three Democrats who Handel, a Republican, kicked off the ballot Monday, saying each didn’t meet residency requirements.

Excellent. It’s too bad that the City of Atlanta is so intent on making sure that only criminals have guns.

Honorable Bearden said it well, “Three percent of the GA population has CCW permits and they are the safest of the safe.” Are you really worried about US? Who would you rather have with you if something horrible happened in the airport parking lot. A citizen serious about self defense and protecting people or an emergency phone box? Personally I’d like the option to defend myself and not have to rely on a 911 call or a scream for help.

Gov. Purdue is right on. I can’t hink of a better way to make thugs think twice (or maybe for the first time). Kudos to the Press as well for all this exposure. It’ll be nice when Rep resentative Tim Bearden is vindicated and the fiberals have to finish the story.

Hats off to Fulton County Superior Court Judge John Goger for granting a stay to an earlier decision handed down by another judge over which Georgia Secretary of State Karen C. Handel attempted to sabotage PSC Democratic candidate JIM POWELL.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Karen! Disappointed that yet another Judge balked at going along with your political games for again, huh?

Sonny Perdue is the greatest governor I have seen in all of my 30 years of living in Georgia. It is good to know Perdue has logic and respect for our great constituion. I am sick of hearing all the lies from the mayor’s office in Atlanta as the Mayor tries to beguile us into giving up our constitutional rights. If you dont like america and the beautiful freedoms she gives us, why not leave her rather than trying to destroy her?

GREAT NEWS JIM POWELL! My whole office is voting for you tomorrow morning, and we’re gonna vote for you again in the General election in November, and look forward to you becoming the only Democratic Public Service Commissioner to sit on the panel of 4 others who are all Republicans. Maybe now we will have someone who is unbiased & will advocate for the little people in terms of lowering our utility bills.

Why do some people believe they can tell us what to do. The mayor of Atlanta wants to tell us what to do so bad, that she and the head rent-a-cop at the Atlanta airport are willing to violate our rights to make their point.

When will people learn that they must follow the law at ALL times, even when it doesn’t suit them. Georgia law says it is okay to carry at airports in the non-secure areas. That is the law. Learn it. Know it. Get used to it.

Thank you Governor Perdue. Your comments on lawfully carrying a firearm at the airport in the non-secure areas pretty much sums up why there is a need to carry at the airport, or anywhere else for that matter. I put my faith in a 1911 not a 911 call box. As we all know. When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Just a matter of time until “Gunfight at the Hartsfield-Jackson Corral.” Hope Wyatt Earp is working that day because the privilege of owning a gun and carrying a gun on and to the Airport are two completely different things. Does anyone listen to the news - the criminals already have guns and the law abiding citizens can’t stop it so why in the world put innocent victims in the middle of a bad situation. btw, I am a certified law enforcement officer and I think the bill proposed by Tim Bearden (a former law enforcement officer), passed the legislature and signed by the governor is absurd and it’s dangerous.
