Martin picks up endorsement from South DeKalb senator
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
For the second consecutive day, U.S. Senate candidate Jim Martin has sliced into the home turf of Democratic rival Vernon Jones, picking the endorsement of a prominent South DeKalb legislator.
In a telephone interview this afternoon, state Sen. Emanuel Jones was careful not to mention the name of Vernon Jones, the DeKalb County CEO.
But Emanuel Jones said Martin “has the termperament, he has the acumen, he has the experience.
“[Martin is] the type of person I would trust with my wife or my wallet,” Jones said. “He just has that integrity that’s crucial to the U.S. Senate.”
Interesting phrasing, that.
On Tuesday, DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown endorsed Martin.
The rap on Martin, a longtime party stalwart who came late to the race, has been his inability to pick up support among African-American leaders. But both Jones and Brown are black.
More important, the two have hefty networks in DeKalb, which is likely to provide more Democratic voters than any other county in the state on July 15. Brown is elected countywide, and Jones’ district includes both south DeKalb and a large swath of Clayton County.
The larger question, of course, is whether Brown and Emanuel Jones represent a crack in Vernon Jones’ base of support.

All the endorsements in the world will not make up for a poorly run campaign, boring commercials, a lazy left wing wacko liberal candidate, and a severely underperforming fundraising operation.
Jim’s promises of raising 2.5 million in the primary have been shown to be a lie.
His paltry list of endorsements compared to the all the big ones Rand Knight has received show how shallow his candidacy is.
Jim Martin and his liberal trial lawyer buddies are being rejected by common sense democrats around the state.

Jim Martin’s disgraceful performance at DHR should be proof enough that he is not fit for public office…letting state employees sit idle for hours each day due to computer issues and budget cuts by the Governor is disgraceful.

For once I agree with Mr. Georgia Values. This endorsement means nothing thanks to a lackluster campaign effort by the Georgia Democratic Party, who bypassed 4 other “qualified” candidates to pick a loser.
To quote Rand Knight, “If Jim Martin is a winner he would be on the Second floor of the State Capitol right now.”

Awww come on guys…
You can’t trust me with you wallet or your wife?
While CEO of DeKalb County I have worked hard to make sure all of the money that was needed for personal protection went to the biggest thugs I could find.
And don’t get me started on the women… while Jim Martin has been out wining and dining the donors, I have been out wining and dining the ladies. I think there is even a 400 page manuscript out there about one of my escapades…
Love,
Vernon

The people of Georgia are tired of the same ol’ back-scratching party politics. We’re ready for something new! Rand Knight knows that success is possible right here for the working people of Georgia!
The good jobs of the future are GREEN jobs. We can bring industries here and build careers that benefit the American people instead of draining the life blood from us and giving it to the Saudis and the Chinese. Twenty-first century coin will be spent on 21st-century processes and technologies that are renewable, recyclable, clean and green. We don’t have to be last any more. We can lead, and we can prosper. Therein lies our strength.

Tom Ga Hunter … Guess Saxby’s son or son in law are using my name.. It is possible that Saxby will win by 9 points if the AJC gives him a free ride but if they investigate & report the relationship between Saxby’s Lobbist son, special interest employed by him, Saxby’s war chest & his voting/legislation record, he’ll lose by 9… It’s all up to the AJC to do their job.

In an impassioned speech on Monday, he declared: “It would be hard to find any single bill that better sums up why so many Americans in both parties are so disappointed in the conduct of their government, and at times so disgusted by it.” From the WSJ..

GeorgiaValues ::::::::::
Here’s what Jim Wooten thinks about your father’s farm bill:::”Everything most Americans —- and all fiscal conservatives —- hate about Congress is contained in a five-year, $300 billion farm bill headed to a certain presidential veto.
It’s dishonest. Congress claims that it’s only $10 billion more than the administration wants. In reality, though, said Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner in a conversation Monday, it’s about twice that.
“It’s about $20 billion over budget because they have managed to hide the true cost of the bill quite a bit.” They are doing it, he explained, by moving payouts beyond the time frame used to calculate costs while moving up revenues from things like crop insurance.
Congress did the same thing last year in projecting the cost for the State Children’s Health Insurance program. Spending on that bill, which the president vetoed, was projected to go from $5.6 billion per year to $13.9 billion in 2012, and then —- as Congress employed the game it now plays on the farm bill —- would “drop” 69 percent in 2013 to $7.8 billion and further to $4.8 billion in 2014. Dishonest.
To hide the true cost of the farm bill, “they take a program that they know has to be funded, like disaster money and a couple of others that they know they will have to come back to extend,” said Conner.
In addition to dishonesties, it contains outrages, one after another. An example is the sugar program, which costs taxpayers in excess of $2 billion annually. “The sugar program is essentially a producer cartel run out of Washington,” said Chris Edwards, director of tax policy at the Cato Institute.
“Many people thought you could not get more heavily involved than the government already is under the current program,” said Conner. That program exists solely to benefit sugar beet producers, mostly in Minnesota, Michigan, California, Idaho and North Dakota, and sugar cane producers, mostly in Florida and Louisiana.
It’s designed to keep sugar prices high by requiring that 85 percent of the sugar sold in America be produced here. Taxpayers buy sugar at roughly twice the world price and, heretofore, stored it for sale back when supplies were tight. “This bill says, ‘no, you can’t store sugar, you have to sell it immediately for ethanol,’ ” said Conner.
The value of sugar for ethanol production is about 2 cents per pound. The world price of sugar is about 12.5 cents per pound. “We are buying it at 23 cents a pound and are required to sell it for 2 cents a pound,” explained Conner. “What kind of deal is that for U.S. taxpayers?”
Lousy, of course. Outrageous, certainly. Insane public policy. “I am not talking about a few million bucks here,” said Conner. “This is hundreds of millions of dollars.”
Outrages are evident, too, in a much-publicized provision that would give the owners of thoroughbred racehorses a $93 million depreciation write-off. It is a first, said Conner, the first time that a farm bill has been used to write a tax bill. “These are provisions that would never have passed on their own.”
Outrageous, too, is the provision that suddenly appeared requiring taxpayers to spend $200 million to buy land in Montana that has no farm-related value.
Most outrageous of all is the refusal of a Congress that denied $600 stimulus checks to some in the middle class but now refuses to expunge even the wealthiest of farmers from the dole. The administration proposed to start weaning farmers whose nonfarm income exceeded $200,000. Congress raised that to $500,000 or $1 million for married couples. For those whose income is solely from farming, it’s $750,000 and $1.5 million. “We only targeted the top 2 percent” of farmers, said Conner. As rewritten, “this is going to deny benefits to virtually no one in America,” he said.
“Scarce tax dollars are hard to come by. The notion that people whose annual income is in the million-dollar range, the idea that we have got to use tax dollars to help them, is beyond explanation. We should say to them that ‘there is an American Dream out there and you are living it, but don’t expect any more tax dollars from people who are struggling to find dollars to put gas in the tank.’ “
Within days, Congress will pass this bill. It’s atrocious legislation deserving of the quick veto it’s certain to get.”

GeorgiaValues …… Where does your father stand on something that would actually help us, noy his special interest PATRONS. Sorry but this just showed up in my email..
Joint Letter to the President on Suspension of Ethanol Tariff
The Honorable George W. Bush President of the United States of America The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Northwest Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Mr. President:
As a result of unforeseen and severe feedgrains inflation, its potential to harm America’s economy and the U.S. Government mandated requirement to utilize specific volumes of ethanol, we urge you to exercise your authority to suspend the duties and quotas on imported ethanol used as a motor fuel additive under the authorities provided by the Constitution, the National Emergencies Act, Tariff Act of 1930, Trade Expansion Act of 1962, and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
The suspension of the 54-cent per gallon duty on ethanol will benefit Americans by introducing market competition for a product that is mandated and by fostering downward pressure for ethanol and its feedstock. Domestic dairy, livestock and poultry farmers, food and beverage manufacturers, employees in these industries and American food consumers will benefit from this action. The introduction of market competition will alleviate a portion of the unnecessary feed and food price inflationary pressures that are adversely affecting our economic well-being and American consumers. This action will also benefit Americans by removing a tariff that many consumers are paying at the fuel pump for gasoline blended with ethanol.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recent crop report and preliminary flood damage assessments are confirming one highly discernable development – feed prices and supply are pressing dairy, livestock, and poultry producers to endure one of the greatest adverse economic situations in decades which is ultimately adding unnecessary economic pressure to all Americans. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects corn inventories relative to utilization will be at their lowest level since the 1930s.
The U.S. Constitution and statutes cited above confer authority on the Executive to exercise controls over international economic matters and established procedures governing the use of this power, including close consultation with Congress. Under these legal authorities, the Administration can immediately take this action to favorably influence the price of feedgrains, energy costs, food infrastructure, as well as assist the relief effort in the Midwest and ensure America’s food security.
The dynamics of flooding, drought and the precariously sharp increase in the ethanol mandate have added an acute amount of demand for feedgrains. This national exigency is severe, unforeseen, and deepening for dairy, livestock and poultry producers and for Americans that are coping with the effects of food inflation. This spring, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress it should eliminate the tariff on ethanol to ease food inflation. This type of action could also benefit the more than 15 million people employed in animal agriculture, food and beverage manufacturing, and food service segments of the U.S. economy.
Therefore, we urge you to suspend the ethanol tariff and quota until such time that Congress has an opportunity to allow it to expire, discontinue its collection or at minimum until crop conditions significantly improve. Thank you for your attention to this request.
Sincerely,
