The Barr effect: Zogby says he’s the difference between Obama and McCain
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A national Zogby poll of tens of thousands of voters is stirring talk about the impact of Libertarian candidate Bob Barr on the presidential race.
The massive survey was released Sunday. It puts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama at 44 percent. Republican John McCain at 38 percent, and Barr at 6 percent — exactly the margin between the two candidates for the major parties.
On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today, McCain was asked specifically about the Barr effect. Here’s what McCain said:
“I’m confident that at the end of the day, Republicans and Democrats and Libertarians and vegetarians will vote for me. We’ve got a lot of work to do. I’m the underdog ..I’m confident we’re going to win, but I have no illusions about the challenges we face.”

I wonder if Insane McCain really has any idea what a Libertarian actually is.

Who cares. The Libertarian party is hopeless. Even Ru Paul figured that out.

Yeah, and at this point in the ‘88 race Dukakis lead Bush, 41, by 18 points. Polls at this point are completely useless. Wishful thinking all the way around.

The Libertarian Party is the party of hope. Hope that America can restore its Constitution. Hope that we can have peace and prosperity. Hope that we can have liberty. Hopeless is when you give up and quit working and accept what is given you by the two big government candidates, McCain and Obama.

I am so tired of all these opinion polls, what vote Barr gets is because people wanted to vote for him. I just saw another poll with McCain ahead among pet owners. Then there’s this white blue collar men stuff, older white white women stuff, as an excuse for the real racism that prevails throughout the system. I just pray that enough of the old racists have passed on, so the good people of all colors can change this terrible culture of racism by voting for a new direction in this country and to regain respect throughout the world. Vote for a man of all colors, so no one can complain over black or white control. Vote Obama!

“I’m confident that at the end of the day, Republicans and Democrats and Libertarians and vegetarians will vote for me. We’ve got a lot of work to do. I’m the underdog…” — John McCain
This is a shocking quote, think about it. It is coming from a man who aspires to be the leader of the free world, not from a flippant teen-aged student council candidate.

Churchill, Why do you always bring up RP? I really get the impression that your one of the people that tells the same joke a hundred times and always laughs. You probably have all of 3 friends, your mom, sis and bro. Only because they HAVE to act like they know you. Get a real job, It is clear that anyone that posts as often as you do has nothing going on in their life. Get outside and enjoy the sun, it may help you to start having new thoughts instead of the same old, same old. You’re one of the most uninteresting people I’ve ever had the fortune not to meet.

By not taking libertarian leaning Republicans seriously, the GOP is making a huge miscalculation that will eventually cost them the election. The only way for them to regain this group of voters is to address their concerns and give the proverbial “seat at the table”. It would be as easy as acknowledging Ron Paul at the national convention and making at least some of his ideas part of the official platform. If the GOP fails to do this, they are doomed to lose the election, because Bob Barr certainly isn’t pulling very many votes away from Obama.

El Capatain …You need to cut Churchill a little slack. Think about living in a single wide in Clayton County with a single mother & flunking the 8th grade. He is doing very well with what little he has to work with.

Tom, you are projecting again. I know you are envious of my success and the life my beautiful wife and I lead. Listen, it makes you feel good to disparage me. That’s fine. Frankly having you spend hours on line instead of working for you loser third party candidate is just what I want you to do.
El Capatain, why don’t you go do to yourself what Cheney told that lib douchebag Senator to do. Ru Paul remains a boob.

I’ve been a lifelong libertarian-leaning Republican, but this year I finally defected in disgust and joined the LP. I don’t expect Bob Barr to win, but I do expect McCain to lose.
The Republicans need to take a major fall before they are ever going to to see the need for some serious soul-searching. If they ever decide that a Republican means something like unto a Barry Goldwater again, they might gain my support back.
I have never been one who had to have instant gratification, so I don’t need to win right away….

AWWW!! I hurt Churchill’s feelings. I really did not expect that you would be so sensitive. Although again, your just repeating what another person said, c’mon please start trying to be original, my friend.
