Poythress getting a head start on 2010
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It seems like a long way off, but there’s a pretty good reason folks like retired Georgia National Guard Adjutant General David Poythress may be filing paperwork for the 2010 governor’s race already this summer.
Poythress, 64, who also served as secretary of state and labor commissioner, is expected to open a campaign account within the next month to raise money to run for governor as a Democrat.
State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, a Republican, is the only other candidate to file such paperwork for what may be a crowded 2010 race to replace Gov. Sonny Perdue.
Perdue is in his second term and can’t run for a third.
When asked how much he’ll need to compete in the governor’s race, Poythress said, “Realistically, something a little shy of $20 million.” He later added, “$20 million may be a little on the low side.”
Back in 1998, Poythress ran for governor, finishing third in the Democratic primary to Roy Barnes and Lewis Massey. He raised about $1.5 million for that race. Barnes won the general election, then spent about $20 million to win re-election in 2002, only to lose to Perdue.

When was Poythress Secretary of State? Before Max?

This is what I expect will probably happen in 2010. Michael Thurmond runs for Lt. Governor, Poythress runs for governor, Regina Thomas will run for State School superintendent, Terry Coleman runs for Ag Commissioner, Guy Drexinger runs for Insurance Commissioner, Jim Marshall runs for the U.S. Senate & DuBose Porter or Chuck Byrd runs for Marshall’s seat. My predictions.

Poythress is an excellent candidate! He has accomplished a lot for Georgia and for this nation. It’s reassuring to see heavyweights like Poythress and Oxendine in the governors race.

GM…Poythress did indeed precede Max. Although this gentleman does have some elective experience under his belt, his performance record is not that impressive.
In the last two or three years of his tenure as Labor Commissioner, Poythress apparently got disinterested because a great deal of his time was spent away from the office.
Unless there has been a significant transformation, Poythress is old school very much in the mold of Zell Miller. The Democratic Party certainly does not need another nominee of that ilk. On second thought, he may run as a Republican. Time will tell.

READ THIS!!!! VERY IMPORTANT…
From Michelle Malkin’s Blog:
It bears looking into.
The nomination may not be entirely sewn up:
Obama may NOT be ELIGIBLE to be President under American law.
This is a great comment at Michelle Malkin’s blog On June 10th, 2008 at 8:37 legendx3 said:
Quote: Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. Natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986?
Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain, though he was born in the Panama Canal both his parents were US Citizens in a US Territory.
US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawaii being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years prior to Barack Obama’s birth, but after age 16. It doesn’t matter after.
In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At most, there were only 2 years elapsed since his mother turned 16 at the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18 in Hawaii. His mother would have needed to have been 16+5= 21 years old, at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen.
As aforementioned, she was a young college student at the time and was not. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at that time his mother would have needed to have waited to have him as the only U.S. Citizen parent. Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office.
* Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. * Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, all the other info does not matter because his mother is the one who needed to have been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16. Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the country for some time to protect any citizenship he would have had, rather than living in Indonesia.
Now you can see why Obama’s aides stopped his speech about how we technically have more than 50 states, because it would have led to this discovery. This is very clear cut and a blaring violation of U.S. Election law. I think the Gov. Of California would be very interested in knowing this if Obama were elected President without being a natural-born U.S. Citizen, and it would set precedence.
Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days

OK, it’s official: the right wingers have gone totally around the bend, bonkers, cuckoo, gaga, unhinged, & non compos mentis.
But hey, go ahead - file suit. In the extremely unlikely event you prevail and Obama is disqualified….who would McCain find himself running against? Probably Obama’s chosen running mate. Hmmm. The most likely candidates at this time are Tom Daschle, Kathleen Sebelius, Jim Webb, and perhaps Sam Nunn - which one of these people would you prefer to run against?
Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.

L.S. Thompsom, You are way off the subject of this post. Have you ever heard of relevance?
