Poll shows McCain dominating Georgia

Rasmussen Reports has been busy in Georgia, and continues to send bad news for Democrats.

We’ve told you already this morning about the Rasmussen poll showing no Democrat within shouting distance of knocking off Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss. But Rasmussen is also throwing cold water on the notion of a Barack Obama surge in the state.

The firm’s latest presidential poll shows Republican John McCain holding a 10-point lead over Democrat Obama in Georgia. It also shows Libertarian candidate Bob Barr pulling just a single percentage point in the state. In the poll, of 800 likely voters, McCain gets 53 percent to 43 percent for Obama.

The survey found, however, that up to 6 percent of voters might consider casting a ballot for Barr. If all 6 percent did, it’s possible the state would be competitive.

“However,” the report concludes, “unless McCain is clearly headed for defeat nationally, it is unlikely that Barr will make enough of an impact to threaten the Republican winning streak in the state.”

No Democrat has carried the state in a presidential election since 1992.

Rasmussen’s poll comes on the heels of a survey by Atlanta-based Insider Advantage a little more than a week ago that found the race much tighter. Insider Advantage’s survey showed McCain leading by just 1 point.

Democrats always enjoy a comfortable lead early in the election, much like Obama is doing today. Gore did the same thing, so did Kerry. The real battle begins in October, that’s when the gloves come off, when mud flies…no more Mr Nice Guy and the huge amounts of money gets spent. If you believe CNN, I don’t, Obama is up by new numbers daily. His lead will shrink greatly come October. Obama is dynamic, he will say anything to fit the needs of the audience he is standing in front of, moving his lips to say anything they want to hear. This will come back to haunt him in October when all the side-by-side comparisons of his many and always changing opinions will be evident. Recall Kerry when he voted for the war after he voted not for the war and before he voted for the war ? Served Kerry well, correct?

Of course McSame has the lead… It’s not like all those far-right conservatives, who SWORE they would never vote for Amnesty McCain, actually meant it.

They were just blowing hot air, as usual. They’ll vote for whoever has an R after his name, and the party leadership knows it. That’s why they were safely able to ignore the Ron Paul and Mike Hucablee-type complaints.

Because you suckers have no choice but to vote for McCain, no matter HOW much you despise him. And they know it.

Yep. And we’ll see those in the middle swing this way each passing day as they see Messiah Barry’s true colors come out. Mr. Change is nothing but the stereotype of DC he claimed to be fighting against. He’s flopped on his champion issues and even his fringe left support is questioning why he’s sliding left and right of the political spectrum. Obama is a pandering empty suit who will say anything to get elected. His CHANGE mantra was more about his own positions than what he claimed to want to accomplish. People are now seeing through it.

Ed’s comment is extremely racist. As years past, some things Cynthia McKinney said proved right - George Bush LIED. Anyone who thinks John McCain will veer far off George Bush’s current course would buy a bridge in Brooklyn. The Republican’s have deliberatly made such a mess of this country to shore up Dick Cheney’s agenda that it is sad. If we don’t change it, get out the hand basket so we can all jump in for a trip to hell.

InsiderAdvantage/PollPositionSurvey/Georgia of 6/20 still has Obama leading. To rely on one Poll and shout it from the mountain top wouldn’t show a certain leaning would it?

This means nothing, the rural voters of Georgia would vote for a Republican chimp before they would vote for a Democrat. It’s all good, Barack doesn’t need to win Georgia to win the general election.

Not only do I think McCain will handily win GA, I betcha the national polls will tighten up a quite a bit. The Vice-President picks could boost either party. I also think when its all said and done, McCain will come out on top this November. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Obama just doesn’t have the experience to be President. I am not making it a racial thing so if you want to do that and slam this post, have at it.

The Truth,

It’s funny when you put the shoe on the other foot. Your example:

“This means nothing, the Obama supporters would vote for a Democrat chimp before they would vote for a Republican.”

Like it?

McCain should carry Georgia as well as get the nod in November. Barack Hussein Obama has no agenda, no experience, will raise taxes, and have us fighting Al-Qaeda in our backyards. You want to see what the economy will look like if Obama is running things? Ha. Good luck.

Also, the Oil price goes up if we keep buying it- (supply/demand) If I’m selling oranges for a buck a piece and decide to raise the price to $1.50 and the demand is the same or more, guess what? I will keep raising the price until it levels off. Also, if we tax the mess out of these oil companies, what will happen when the price eventually comes down? Oil stock would go down the tubes and our economy will take a hit.

Rasmussen is underindexing African Americans and young voters. If you go to www.realclearpolitics.com and look at the primary results you’ll see that in states with significant African American populations all of the polls were off by MILE. The so-called New Hampshire effect Hillary got was a 6 point swing. All of the polls missed GA,MS,VA,SC,NC,MD,LA by country miles. In reality McCain is probably sitting at 47-48% and Obama is closer to 44-45% with Barr at 2-3% and the rest undecided. Remember only 52% of registered African Americans showed up in 2004. The likely 80% turnout will yeild Obama an additional 250,000 votes and right now African American registration is ballooning so much that the state secretary of state’s office has temporarily ran out of registration forms. Rasmussen’s pool is likely too old, too white and too rural. That’s why all of the polls missed Georgia on February 5th by 10-20%. Ironically the polls almost perfectly gauged Hillary Clinton’s support.

WHY’D THE DEMOCRATS:

Say we are losing the war?

Tell the troops they could not win?

Tell us the surge wouldn’t work?

Fund the “General Betrayus” ad?

Accuse specific troops publicly (and prior to trial) of murdering Iraqi civilians?

Not apologize after these troops were exonerated? (Where do they go to get their reputations back?)

Tell us the U.S. military savages Iraqi civilians—purposely breaking into their homes at night and killing innocent women and children?

(after all this) Have the gall to say they support our troops and this country??

WHY’D OBAMA:

Make a big deal about not wearing a flag lapel pin—then start wearing one as we get closer to the general election?

Make his top foreign policy initiative the same as Iran’s: retreat from Iraq.

Get Wesley Clark to impugn John McCain’s character and patriotism—then say he wouldn’t question anyone’s patriotism?

Not question McCain’s patriotism face-to-face?

Accuse (and put down) rural citizens of clinging to God and guns?

Avoid voting on the Senate resolution condemning the “General Betrayus” ad?

Go on the defensive saying he wouldn’t question McCain’s patriotism but would not stand for someone questioning his? (Though he has ample grounds, McCain never questioned Obama’s patriotism).

Choose as close friends 2 individuals who bombed 2 bastions of our civilized and orderly society: a police department headquarters and The Pentagon?

Not appreciate the fact that John McCain spent more time in a Vietnamese prison than Obama has in the U.S. Senate?

In short, why does Obama go out of his way to talk about patriotism? Because he knows he has a problem.

I don’t know whether the man is patriotic, but I do know his actions are inconsistent with an individual who has a deep, abiding love for his country.

With a half billion dollars in campaign funds, well-written TelePromteR speeches, a dismal Republican opponent [according to the radial Left], some neat slogans [I like it when his tie color matches the color of the Hope/Change sign in front of him….or the Great Obama Seal which omitted the colors of our flag), why isn’t Obama leading by 25 points in a heavily black state?

I don’t trust this poll whatsoever. My gut feeling says this does not include the overwhelming turnout that Sen. Obama will get from the African Americans and the young voters. Not to mention those who respect Sam Nunn and his strong support of Sen. Obama helps. It will be competitive, but Sen. Obama definitely has a great chance of winning Georgia. Sorry - but the Sen. McCain is offering only 4 more years Bush. That’s certainly not good for the future of this country.

Why did McCain vote against or not vote for the last 10 bills including the one Dubya signed today increasing benefits for the troops? Because he loves war and hates the warriors.

Well “Aloha”…

I guess your juices are just a flowin’ this mornin’ now that you’ve gotten your right wing nut fix for the day.

Some good it does to forward propaganda emails to people who feel the same way you do to gloat over, as if they were planning on voting Obama anyway. What a waste.

This election is already determined people and we know who comes out on the losing end. That’s why you right wingers are doing all you can to smear the “Jr. Senator”, who ODDLY enough seems to be kicking the @zs3s of all the political “heavyweights” in this country!

To answer your question, Not Impressed, it is because that the country is a racist pile of garbage. At least, that will be the storyline when Obama is defeated. You see, according to left, the left that is not interested in anything but platitudes from Obama, they cannot imagine that people in this country may not trust this upstart Senator. Doesn’t the media tell us all the time that Obama is trying to introduce himself to the American people? Well maybe he is, and maybe some don’t want the guy to lead our great nation the more they “get to know” him. Peace.

I have one thing to say…ok…maybe a few. Is it really too much to ask to have a leader we can trust? It’s a very sad state of affairs when we feel like we really don’t have ANY good canidates to choose from. It really comes down to who is the better liar. Who does the best job at BSing their way through 4 years. I don’t care what side of the fence you’re on…I want an honest MAN for the job…PERIOD!

i think it is bad for McCain that the “numbers” have him up by 10% although i think the numbers are more like McCain ahead by 4% within the margin of error.

this is bad for McCain becuase it will only embolden Obama’s supporters to get out and register more voters.

soon Mccain $84m will not be as long as the reported $200m war chest that Obama will have and soon McCain will have to cede states like GA and it will take only one state like Georiga combined with the same states that Kerry won to hand Obama the election.

OK Churchill.. we’ll just forgot about all the other well seasoned Democratic candidates he ran against as well and rose above. Nevermind the fact the The Clintons are the most powerful Democratic force in the country, who ran circles around the Republican Party for an ENTIRE DECADE.

Talk up McCain will ya?? Oh I forgot, he is a NO CANDIDATE!! If he weren’t your base would truly be behind him and you know it!!

A real war hero?? Yeah, he got CAUGHT, shot down and BECAME a prisoner. Not like he went full of bravado with outstretched arms and said “take me for the country”..H3ll..I served, and didn’t get caught either.

Well it’s going to take more than a views speeches stolen from Markell Hutchinson, the lack luster AFL-CIO leadership and a few upset Georgia Equality donors who are leaving Jim Martin as we speak, to bail ya’ll out of this butt kicking that’s coming on July 15th.

BOB BARR will gut the McCain vote in Georgia.

Huge numbers of conservatives are sick of big spending, anti-Bill of Rights, neo-con Republicans.

They will use the Barr campaign to send a powerful message to the Big Government forces in the GOP.

Barr is already forcing the GOP to consider Georgia “in play,” meaning McCain will have to divert precious time and resources to try and hold on to Georgia.

As a former Libertarian, who became disenchanted with their non-growth and reluctuance to change a couple of planks, I think many people have trouble believing that Barr is a true Libertarian, and that his short tenure bothers many oldline Libertarians. I dont hear him talking about EQUAL BALLOT ACCESS IN ALL STATES, or challenging the Commission on Presidential Debates to OPEN the DEBATES, which very well may EXCLUDE HIM this year!!! What about it Jimmy Carter???

So, what most of your are basically saying is…it’s the Conservatives against the Liberals. White against black. And, Catholicism against Muslim. NOT who has the potential to be the best man to serve our country? If it weren’t for the Press and political anaylists interfering with their by-partisan opinions, we might all have a different opinion of each canidate. Just because you served our country does NOT make you the best man for the job. People join the service for all kinds of reasons…including a political agenda…not just to be a good serving U.S. Citizen.
