Jones goes up on air in Senate bid
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones became the second Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Georgia to run a television ad.
Jones’ 30-second spot, which touts his position on fuel prices and the economy, began running Sunday morning on television news shows, said Jones’ deputy campaign director Dexter Porter. The ad appeared on NBS’s “Meet the Press” and “The Georgia Gang.”
“It’s an introduction to who he is and what his platform is on the major issues,” Porter said.
Porter said the campaign plans two or three more television ads before the July 15 primary.
Jones is the second of the five Democratic Senate candidates to run TV ads. Former state lawmaker Jim Martin has also run television spots.
Jones, Martin, former WSB-TV reporter Dale Cardwell, Atlanta businessman Rand Knight and retired businessman Josh Lanier of Statesboro are running for the Democratic Party nomination to take on incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Moultrie and Libertarian Allen Buckley in November.

Does Vernon’s ad mention his brag that he voted TWICE for homosexual draft-dodger George W. Bush?
Vernon’s well into his forties. Has he gotten married to a woman the first time, yet? Hmmm.

I love the stock footage of the windmill and the Iowa Cornfield. It looks like a commercial produced for a State Representative Campaign. If Vernon wants to project his non-senatorial prowess then by all means, go for it. It just makes him look bad. Not to mention that he’s essentially stealing Knight’s knowledge on the environment/energy issues.

Be honest Rock the Vote Rand Knight was sweating like a pig, he looked nervous. Clearly he was a fish out of water in this debate. He certainly showed that he’s conducted business meeting before but when he can’t control the situation he got red, became defensive and really started to sweat. Vernon Jones and Josh Lanier (clearly more experienced) mantained their cool composure. Of all the candidates I have to disagree with you. My picks- 1st Place: Vernon Jones, 2nd Place: Josh Lanier, 3rd Place: Rand Knight. Last Place: Dale Cardwell. He’s just a reporter.

**Be honest”“, “Be Honest.” Sweat glands and heat tolerance are largely determined by genetics. Are you prejudiced against white people who sweat in summer? And I’m not clear on your other point. Are you saying you prefer someone who is a cool liar and can slick-talk with ease to someone who is smart and capable in so many ways, but might not be the smooovest public speaker you’ve ever seen? Is that your criteria?
Also, Vernon Jones is a Bush-voting crook who spends his time and influence furthering his own self interests. (Vernon Jones Facts Dot Com.) Are you okay with a man of his character representing you in Senate? How is that a change from Saxby?

you people need to stop drinking the kool-aid. VJ has the political savvy to beat all of the dems. sweating candidates not knowing which way is up and dale caldwell not having a clue. African Americans will vote for Vernon Jones period. Jim Martin lost in ‘06 what makes us think he has done anything to change the big L he has on his forehead. Vernon didn’t have to tell anyone he voted for Bush. However, at the end of the day they probably all voted for Bush. Bush won Georgia because Republicans and Democrats voted for him. Roy Barnes has already told us that he didn’t like Obama or Hillary. What does that tell you.

“African Americans will vote for Vernon Jones period.” What happened to the “content of a man’s character?” being the most important thing? Voting RACE over competency and character is a step BACKWARD, not forward. How very disappointing if this were true.
Skin doesn’t come any whiter than mine, and despite knowing and being fond of a white candidate for Sheriff, I’ll be voting for Ted Jackson, who IMO, is the best man for the job — that’s what responsible citizens do. Vernon Jones has the savvy of a CROOK and a CON MAN would NOT be good for Georgians of any color!

By Rock the Vote,
You guys at the Rand Knight HQ are the biggest bunch of plagiarizers in the South.
Your candidate stole that Moses and Joshua line from Markell Hucthinson who’s running for Congress against John Lewis.
Well it’s going to take more than a views speeches stolen from Markell Hutchinson, the lack luster AFL-CIO leadership and a few upset Georgia Equality donors who are leaving Jim Martin as we speak, to bail ya’ll out of this butt kicking that’s coming on July 15th.
It’s goodnight time!

Mr. Martin may be a Party insider, but his ideas are old hat. Bring some fresh blood in, people who are passionate and truly willing to fight these people in Washington giving us endless war and bankruptcy. Cardwell and Knight!

9% of Blacks vote GOP, that same percent of Blacks are Roman Catholic. With that high level of established tolerance for known sex perverts, only that 9% of Blacks will consider voting for homosexual, draft-dodging, 9-11-committing Bush-supporter Vernon.
Cardwell endorsed Obama. Obama is the man this go-round and Georgia knows it. Cardwell is grabbing Obama’s shirt-tail and we should elect him to boot Bush-buddy Chambliss.
