A propaganda check-up: Georgia Republicans warn of Jimmy Carter and Obama’s ‘Chicago machine,’ and Max Cleland says Dems need money to stop ‘vile lies’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Within minutes of each other, two fund-raising letters arrived in the Lotus Notes box this morning.
The first was from Sue Everhart, chairman of the state Republican party, waving the stated intentions of the Barack Obama campaign to put Georgia in play this fall.
Wrote Everhart:
The Obama campaign has made it clear that they will do everything in their power to gain Georgia’s 15 electoral votes to secure the presidency.
Jimmy Carter and other Georgia Democrats are doing everything they can to make sure Barack Obama picks up the Peach State.
Jimmy Carter still makes people angry enough to write checks? But not just Carter:
And the out-of-staters will make sure the Georgia Democrats have all the money they need. Obama’s Chicago Machine, Howard Dean’s DNC, MoveOn.org, the Kennedy Juggernaut, and the Hollywood Elites will stop at nothing
Then came the pitch from former U.S. senator Max Cleland, who has kept a relatively low profile this election cycle, on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee:
You and I know better than most what Republicans will do to win elections.
We saw those Swift Boat Veterans impugn the patriotism of John Kerry. And we’ve watched our opponents spread vile lies about both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Interesting that by including Clinton, Cleland attempts to keep himself above the current schism between victor and vanquished. And why this work for the DSCC?
[E]very important decision about getting out of Iraq and doing better in Afghanistan goes through the United States Senate.
I know that I want Democrats making those decisions, and I don’t want Republicans getting in the way with another one of their filibusters.
Cleland addresses his 2002 defeat only indirectly:
I’ve seen first hand the worst of what our opponents are capable of. I am committed to never letting it happen again.

Cleland is right. GIVE GENEROUSLY TO DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES! The GOP slime machine is well-funded. Advertising firms charge big bucks to do that face-morphing thing in their slick, graphic-filled, over-produced ads for prime-time gluttage. Repeating a lie often enough for people to believe is expensive, and Saxby’s special interest friends will pony up that dough. Stop whining and start contributing to the cause you believe in!

Well, ga values, the democrat party did claim, in 2006, that they would cut off funding for the war and thus the troops. The democrat party has only itself to blame for this pickle. Bush, McCain, and most of the Republican Party cannot be blamed for this one.

Luv a Duck — Of course the Dems are raising money for their candidate and if they are raising more for Obama than the Repugnicans are able to raise for McCain, it is because the voters are sick to death of the Rep’s lies, slanders, and personal attacks on anyone who differs from them. Of course Jimmy Carter and Max Cleland support their party’s candidate for President. They are Dems. And, no one knows better than Max what the Republicans will stoop to to defame a Democratic Candidate. All you have to do is look back and see what Saxby Shameless did to Max, a triple amputee Vietnam Vet. That was the most pernicious, ugly and unpatriotic attack I have ever seen in my life. Similarly the yapping dogs of the Republican Party went another Vet, John Kerry. There is no depth they will not plumb to cloud the issues and scare the electorate. But, I think this time they have serioiusly misjudged the voters. Voters are not believing the dirt this time — they don’t believe that Obama is some radical muslim who is going to eat their children; they do believe they have less money and worst prospects now than they did 8 years ago; they believe that gas cost way too much and that predatory lending practices are putting people out of their homes; they do believe that their children go to schools that are inadequate; they do believe that health care costs too much and is available to too few people; they do believe that fat-cat Repugs have gotten richer while they got poorer; and, they DO BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE.
Betty Boop knows it is time for a change and says, don’t worry about the lies, keep sending your pennies, nickles, dimes and dollars to your Dem candidates and let the ole boys stew and simmar and fulminate till they just fizzle out in November.

Although I am a staunch Democrat, I think Cleland is wrong to suggest McCain would use ‘vile lies’ in a campaign. McCain himself called Saxby’s advertisements in the 2002 Senate Race ‘reprehensible’ and ‘repugnant.’

Let’s hope McCain has a sense of honor, especially after the way he himself was smeared by the Bushies a few years back.

From one concerned citizen of U.S.A,
Dear American Voters, reporters, media. professionals, political parties, and presidential Nominees,
Hon. Senator McCain and Obama, besides each having many attributes and characteristics.
The critical differences between the two of these presidential presumptive nominees in my opinion are as under:
In my professional opinion Senator Obama leads in all above qualities and attributes.
Senator Obama and his administration along with congress will address all the critical current and future domestic and foreign issues, challenges, and opportunities in coming the years.
Our citizens have and follow attributes as under:
” Family, Friends, Fellows, Faith, Funds, Foundation [s], Fun, with Freedom & Fairness and without Fear, Favor, & Failure” .
Please stay involved, stay engaged, and stay informed. Please do not allow any seduction, deception, and or confusion by some partisan media and leaders effect your vote [ What I label as Psychological Terrorism of deception, seduction and Brain washing perpetuated by some media outlets for decades. These Meedia outlet and so called pundits claim to care about our Nation].
Dear Americans, please do not allow yourself be duped, seduced, and brain washed this time ].
Yours truly,
COL. [retd] A.M.Khajawall Disabled American Veteran Forensic psychiatrist, Las Vegas
PS: Please talk about the ” Presidential Temperament And Caliber ” of our presumptive presidential Nominees. We do talk about the “Judicial Temperament” of our Supreme Court Justices nominees and so far we have failed to talk about the ” Presidential Temperament ” of our presumptive presidential nominees. The ” Presidential Temperament ” is the ultimate and in my opinion only requirement of our president as that effects every living soul here and around the world.
Thanks again.

Give me a reason to vote Obama? Experience? What exactly is the change? What are we hoping for besides gas? Do we want high taxes? What about that angry wife of his? Do you think Obama could just put his chin down two inches? it looks so elitist. What about his shady friends and preachers will they run around in the Whitehouse?? Has Mr. obama ever held a real job? How can he really relate to the working people having not been in the work force? Can he speak at all without the speech written out or on a monitor? Do you think our military will respect him? He has never served his country, never held a real job, I don’t know it doesn’t sound good. Another attorny in Washington, you know they have to take an ethics exam there are still unethical….hmmmm
