Barry Fleming launches first negative TV ad of the season, against Paul Broun
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Barry Fleming today has the honor of launching the first negative TV ad in the 2008 season, part of his primary bid to oust U.S. Rep. Paul Broun of Athens from the 10th District.
“He even voted against protecting our kids from on-line sexual predators. What is Paul Broun thinking about?” Fleming asks in the 30-second spot.
That’s a reference to H.R. 3791, something called the “Securing Adolescents From Exploitation-Online Act of 2007.” Broun cast one of two votes against the bill.
I’ve got a call into the Broun camp.

Wow. Going on the attack already. Shows you what kind of race this is going to be when Fleming doesn’t come out of the gate talking about his record. Not even an introduction piece to the western portion of the 10th. Just keep em’ happy and scared in Augusta. What a unique and dynamic Congressman he’ll be. Seriously.

Barry will lose this race in a land slide. His intentional deceit will be his undoing. His close association with House Speaker Glenn Richardson hangs around his neck like a boat anchor. Georgia Right to Life endorsed Dr. Broun today as they should. Barry, under the direction of the speaker during the Georgia session told the GRTL people they needed to move to the back of the bus and quite down with their legislative agenda.

Ho-hum, another Fleming lie. Barry how long has your nose grown?
Nobody supports protecting child predators. You’ve lost it.
Maybe next time, try introducing yourself in a positive light before trying to cast a dark devious side to someone else.

This is what is wrong with politics today. A man like Barry Fleming will say anything to get elected. He is siding with Jessie Jackson Jr. instead of a conservative republican. Shame on you Barry Fleming.

If Paul Broun wants to see a liar he needs to look in the mirror. Every time Mr. Fleming has criticized Dr. Broun’s voting record Broun’s only retort is that Barry is a liar. He is unable to respond to the criticism directly because he knows that Barry’s points are valid. Does the SAFE Actnot contain a section that specifically states that service providers will not be required monitor any user, subscriber, or customer of that provider. Paul Broun continues to claim that the reason he voted against the SAFE Actwas because it would force ISPs to monitor there customers. THAT IS A LIE and Paul Broun knows it.

The SAFE ACT sets penalties of up to $300,000 for a WI-FI operator not immediately reporting someone downloading porn at his establishment, but states he does not have to monitor. Do they expect the perp to come up to the proprietor bragging about his pix? It also grants limited immunity to the National Committee on Missing and Exploited Children from this Act. WHY??? The other Act Fleming loves, HR 2517, increases government grants to aforesaid NCMEC, a private,non-profit, from $20 million to $40 million for 2008 and additional funding as necessary thru 2013, which the Congresional Budget Office estimates will cost us another $260 million. Hey, It is only money. Can our government get any more stupid?
