Ehrhart leaves Facilities Group

The Marietta Daily Journal reports this morning that House Rules Chairman Earl Ehrhart (R-Powder Springs) has left the Facilities Group.

The Smyrna company and its top executives have been indicted on federal charges of illegally steering campaign donations to a Mississippi official in order to win a contract.

According to the MDJ:

Ehrhart said Facilities Group founder Robert Moultrie[, one of three indicted company officials,] approached him and offered an amicable departure from The Facility Group, both to avoid the appearance of impropriety and because the allegations against the company could be used by Ehrhart’s political opponents against him.

Ehrhart was a senior vice president with the company. He was not among those charged.

One huge motive for severing political ties with Ehrhart, one of the state Capitol’s most powerful figures: Cobb County is scheduled to vote Sept. 16 to extend a one-cent sales tax for schools.

The Facilities Group has been working with the county school board on the package that will be put in front of voters for their approval.

If Ehrhart has opposition should the deciding question before voters in the District be: Shall we judge Ehrhart solely by his associations?

I’m a republican, but Earl Ehrhart and his buddy Glenn richardson are an embarrassment to our state. If they had any dignity they would just resign.

Hank, you Go!

Ehrart and Richardson must go. My family in Paulding County can not stand Richardson, unfortunately no one is running against him.

Now poor Erhart, lost his high paying job with the firm who has been successful in winning tons of state work with the Board of Regents and the Dept of Technical and Adult Education

So andy, are you suggesting that you don’t see ethics as an important attribute for a politician?

Just as long as he is bringing home the pork?

I know Mr. Ehrhart. This is a good guy - He, like others who work or now “have worked” for this firm, have been made guilty by association by those who would simply throw stones. Walk a mile in his shoes before you hurl those boulders.

honestly: YOU are not just stupid but the village idiot. Where is there any data that suggests that Earl has been unethical? You need to limit your reading to the comic section of the newspapers and leave the other stuff to the “big people”.
