Jimmy Carter: An Obama-Clinton ticket would be ‘the worst mistake’ — Nunn would be the better veep choice
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
In today’s The Guardian, a British newspaper, former President Jimmy Carter warns Democratic presumptive nominee Barack Obama against choosing Hillary Clinton as a running mate.
Carter’s comments came during an interview in London last week. The former president’s spokeswoman, Deanna Congileo, confirmed this afternoon that the quotes were accurate.
According to the newspaper:
“I think it would be the worst mistake that could be made,” said Carter. “That would just accumulate the negative aspects of both candidates.” Carter, who formally endorsed the Illinois senator last night, cited opinion polls showing 50% of US voters with a negative view of Clinton.
In terms that might discomfort the Obama camp, he said: “If you take that 50% who just don’t want to vote for Clinton and add it to whatever element there might be who don’t think Obama is white enough or old enough or experienced enough or because he’s got a middle name that sounds Arab, you could have the worst of both worlds.”
Who does Carter prefer?
The former president said: “What he needs more than a southerner is a person who can compensate for his obvious potential defects, his youthfulness and his lack of long experience in military and international affairs.”
For that reason, Carter says he favours Sam Nunn, the former chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, who hails from his own state of Georgia. “That would be my preference, but there are other senior Democrats who would have similar credentials to Sam Nunn,” he said.

I agree. There would be too much baggage on the ticket. The GOP would have a field day running ads on these two about their past associations & actions. Obama needs to pick someone who doesn’t have the excess baggage she & Bill brings. Someone like Jim Webb, Tennessee Gov. Phil Breseden, or even a Max Cleland. Anyone but Hillary.

Obama is too smart for that. He’d like to make it to see 50. Hillary is desperate to be President. Remember what they did to Vince Foster.

On one hand, I can definately see the appeal of an Obama-Clinton ticket, but, on the other hand, I can see Hillary and Bill being uncontrollable loose cannons and not as much an asset to an Obama administration as a distraction.
I guess I would have to say that putting Hillary on the ticket, then, would be a bad idea. Obama will be facing a lot of pressure, however, to include her.

and let’s not forget the big elephant in the room: bill clinton, former president.
how easy do you think it’d be for barack obama to govern when he has TWO people down the hall who each feel that they should be the one sitting in the oval office???
how many “well, here’s what i would do…” press statements, how many “hillary told barack not to, and look what happened” snippy remarks in public would he make?
barack obama SO does not need that headache.
to put this to rest: just vet out hillary the same way any other veep is vetted. ask for all financial records for she and her spouse, plus all identifying documents for all fundraising activity for the past 15 years.
i’m sure even geraldine ferraro will agree that proper vetting of veep candidates and their spouses is a prudent thing to do.

No Way Carter could be correct on this. He never is. Put Hilary on the ticket. She deserves it. She has the experience Obama lacks. She has the name recognition to overcome Obama’s name. She’s white enough as Carter said - Obama may not be. And she’s old enough because Obama is too young. Seems to me like Carter is wrong and Clinton would boost his chances of winning.

As an African-American, I have to agree with Jimmy Carter. Barack doesn’t need that excess baggage PERIOD! After that display last night in her speech, the deranged, narcissistic CLINTONS truly showed their colors. What they displayed was a slap in the historic significance of last night and Dr. Martin Luther King would be rolling over in his grave for such a lack of acknowledgment. If the CLINTONS love BLACK people so much, then she should move aside and allow history to take it’s place. But, that would be too much to ask from her. All she would do is undermine him and isn’t even close to bringing the CHANGE that Barack speaks of.

I agree with President Carter. Hillary Clinton on the ticket would be wrong. Senator Obama needs someone more moderate/conservative with solid foreign policy experience. The ideal (for either party frankly) would be Gen. Powell, however, he probably isn’t even a consideration. Chuck Hagel, Gen. Wesley Clark, Sam Nunn. John Edwards is still suffering from 2004, so he is a bad call. Senator Clinton needs to fight for Senate Majority leader and hope that maybe she can get on the Supreme Court. Her ambitions for the White House are over.

Mr. Carter,
This is not about you. Its about you but rather what is best for the democratic party. Please take your old dried up bag of bones and retire. Your day is gone! Long Gone.
Hillary has alot of supporters that are faithful to her. Obama cannot win without those supporters.
What people need to understand that Obama andHillary was competing against each other for the nom. At the end of the day, they are on the same side.
Please calm down, Obama-Clinton will make history and take the white house for the democrats.
And to all of my Brothers and Sisters. I see the passion that you have for Obama. I wish that you would display that same passion in improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods and electing officials in our local governments that will make a difference.

Jimmy Carter is Probably the ONLY HONEST Politician alive and History will prove it so. I have always respected him and will do so forever. Hilary Clinton has shown Contempt for the System and by signing on with other contestants to disallow the votes in Michigan and Florida ONLY to turn around and press the Party on the issue, demonstrates a level of contempt and disregard that only comes with desperation. She will do ANYTHING to be president and thats not good. Obama worked hard and defied all odds to secure this nomination and MUST choose his own VP. I think a pragmatic move will be MIKE BLOOMBERG of NY. This is from a fellow AFRICAN American. God Bless, you have given tremendous hope to the hopeless.

Barack Obama does not need Hillary Clinton on the ticket. Much has been said about the people that voted for Hillary that won’t support Barack. If you are a Democrat then you will vote Democrat anyway. I really don’t ANY Democrat will vote for McCain if they are truly for the party. Not only that McCain represents another 4 years of Bush. If we really want change, if we really want (and need) to chart a course in a new direction (and any direction is better than the hell we’re in now), we need to let Obama choose a new, fresh, moderate VP candidate.
Hillary burned her own bridges during this primary process. She’s proven to be a self serving, cold, calculating shrew.

first of all i would like to congrautlate ms.clinton, but her as vice president would be a big mistake. first of all she feels she is entitled to be in the white house. her motto seems to be if i can’t get in one way i will get in another. at first i was all for hillary but as time went on she became more rehearsed and more bitter. instead of taking the high road on some of the negative subjects she pounced on them. she made issuses out of who was writing obama speeches but yet she put decoys in the audience with prepared questions to ask her . either way it goes it would have been historic but why should we put her in the white house when she cant even admit defeat. when she realized the delegates weren’t going her way she wanted the super delegates to PUT her in. her message was very clear toward the end if the voters won’t put me in my powerful friends will. Thats what is wrong with america today the big people looking out for other big people. ???? if he wasn’t BLACK would she still doing all this ?????? I don’t think so. everyone just needs to give obama his credit and support him because he is the best man for the job and vote accordingly. dont just give mccain the title as president because we are still blinded by color. hunger, foreclosure, job loss and high gasoline prices shows no prejudice it affects us all. Thank you and remember united we stand , divided we fall.

We seeing a man no matter is race who want and trying to turn our country around; we have those who can’t understand it; and we have those who may not want him; but, America, it’s time a new chapter be open; we need to move even further in getting out the old Congressmen and Representatives that have stood by and watch our country continue to fall far behind and our own people are suffering at the hands of this Bush Administration.

I feel as though the best option would be an Obama/Clinton Ticket. Together they could balance each other out.
I don’t feel that Edwards would be a good running mate. I wasn’t much of a fan of him when he was running when Kerry, and to be honest I still am not much of a fan. He seems like a tool, or a “yes” man, with little or no ambition to make a change on his own. You also have to look at, if something should happen to Obama or would need to step down (for whatever reason) could he function as President? I am not too sure.

louis, obama has already won without hillary’s supporters. in fact, many of her supporters left her and came over to obama.
sure, they both were competing for the nomination, but that doesn’t mean that they are best suited for each other.
hillary has shown that she can’t run an organization, that she can only succeed when the path has already been smoothed out for her. she didn’t see obama coming, she didn’t care about “every vote” in michigan until she realized that she needed them to save her chances.
and she’s married to bill, who she has proven to everyone that controlling him is beyond her control.
hillary is still ambitious. and hillary won’t think of herself as vice-president…she’ll think of herself as co-president.
obama will have to shut her down barely two years into his administration. then he’ll have to hear all the stuff about sexism and feeling threatened by a strong woman.
it’s a no-win for him. barack needs to show some leadership and make his biggest detractor, hillary clinton, accept the fact that her day is done. if she truly was sincere about representing the citizens of new york, then she can do a lot for them as their senator.

Also, in any event, I would lose a lot of respect for Obama if he chose Hilary after her condescending and mean-spirited treatment of him in the primary.

The coronation of King Barack Obama has begun…or at least it sounds that way in the media.
Geraldine Ferraro got it exactly right: if Obama were a white, 46 year-old rookie senator with no managerial or foreign policy experience, his chances for winning the Democratic nomination would be nil.
Jimmy Carter, perhaps the worst president in our history, has however, managed to get one thing right: mix Clinton with Obama on the ticket and the Dems are cutting their own throat.
John McCain is a true American hero who through the years has always put the interests of this country above his own or his party. He is a maverick, and I think the American people are going to like.
For the sake of our country, I truly hope they do.

John Edwards couldn’t win the nomination in two attempts, couldn’t help Kerry to the Presidency and yet some people are calling Obama/Edwards a dream ticket? I suppose that is correct when viewed from the perspective of the Republican Party. His primary win is the weakest showing of any either parties’ winner, in my lifetime. News flash people, he still has not won this outright, and will not win unless the superdelegates remain true to their word and vote for him at the convention. If all of the superdelegates decided to switch their allegiance before the convention, Hillary would be the nominee, yet you Obamaites act like he beat the living daylights out of her and is carrying a huge mandate. He isn’t and WILL be whipped like a rented mule by John McCain if he (OR his supporters) tries to trivialize Hillary. You Obama supporters better wake up because you’re going to need all the help you can get to beat McCain. Attempts to paint him as Bush or any other neocon will fail as the media has spent too many years calling him a maverick and detailing his many breaks from the rank-and-file pary line. Lastly, taking political advice from Jimmy Carter is like taking dog care advice from Michael Vick. Even Carter’s chief of staff who just passed said that Carter hated partisan politics and wasn’t very politically astute. Hamilton Jordan said that the worst thing one could do when trying to win Carter over to a certain position was to talk about how it was politically advantageous; Carter doesn’t think in political terms. Obama can win, but he certainly will not win if his supporters act like his victory is a foregone conclusion and crap all over Hillary and her supporters. BTW, if anyone has won the right to be the VP, it’s Hillary.

the clintons aren’t owed anything. their day is done. the sooner nancy pelosi shuts them down, the better off the democrats will be.
if the clintons truly had clout, they would have gotten their own guy to be over the dnc. instead, howard dean is there.
if the clintons truly had clout, they would have gotten the rbc committee to do everything hillary wanted, such as seating ALL florida delegates AND seating ALL michigan delegates AND not giving any michigan delegates to barack at all.
if the clintons truly had clout, they would have convince every superdelegate to come out and endorse them immediately after super tuesday. instead, hillary began 2007 with 170 superdelegates in her pocket, but has collected only 40 more since super tuesday.
the emperor has no clothes. “billary” just ain’t all that anymore. just because hillary has a hard time accepting that fact, doesn’t mean everyone has to kiss up to her like she’s still on top of the mountain.

For the first time in my adult life there’s no one for me to vote for in the race for president. There’s not even the option of voting against someone. McCain is a joke and so are Obama and Barr. I’ve always voted Democratic, even when McGovern ran, but I can’t vote for Obama. His resume looks good but then so did George O’leary’s. He’s not someone I trust but neither is McCain. Barr, as we all know, is an inveterate liar who wouldn’t know the truth if it jack-slapped him into the middle of next week. Of course, any of these folks would be a big improvement over the little moron currently besmirching the nation and Constitution. It’s just too bad that one of these mouthy fools is going to be the next President of the United States.

The best advice anyone can give is to shut up and let the team of advisors that he has put together to identify candidates.
Everyone knows the game the Clintons are playing….political, political, Stevie Wonder can see that. The concern should be that there has been too many people around the Clintons that have met death. So we need to be praying that the Lord will stop the hand of the enemy!!!! Keep the Obamas covered under the blood of Jesus. As we have already seen that every tongue that has arisen against him has been defeated and no weapon has been formed that prospered. When you know whose you are all things are possible to him that believes!!! So lets trust God and allow him to do the rest. Have faith because the word of God tells us that he that is last shall be first and his word can’t come back void it shall prosper in what God has pleased.

This is what I think… Don’t pay too much mind to voting that took place after the republicans found their nominee. A lotof the votes for Clinton were cross over votes, meaning republicans crossed party lines in an effort to get a week candidate to oppose their candidate. If you were to look at the early numbers it show Obama very strong then the number get weaker after the republican nominee had been named.
Obama Clinton ticket would be a big mistake. Had she conceded earlier…maybe I could bounce with that, but she is stubborn and would do anything to be president and she is hindering the unification of the democratic party and just thinking about herself. This country is hurting right now and is in need of some healing, putting a republican back in office would be the worst thing to do, but voters may sway that way if Clinton doesn’t back off and ask her supporters to throw their support behind Obama and who ever he selects as his VP candidate.

I totally agree with President Carter. The pundits, newsmedia, republicans and most of all the Clinton’s played every card they could in the book during the running of the primary and Barack Obama kept his focus clear. He never once faltered, because he knew where his strength and truth came from and like Daniel in the lions den he marched on. Please explain to me anybody why would he want her to be his running mate. Remember that the Clinton supporters are the ones that wants business as usual. Nothing has changed in that area. Obama supporters, i might add, are the visionaries and the ones advocating for change. It’s like putting old wine in a new flask. I remember Ms. Clinton speech and mockery towards Obama sometime back about celestial beings are going to come down and save us. Well, i am saying to you today and all her supporters, maybe you should have called on those celestial being (angels) to guide you. God is not a Man that he should be mocked.

I think that Hilary would hurt more than help. They fought so hard against each other that her running with him would be clear that it’s a farce. People point to her experience or McCain’s experience look what experience has gotten us the last 8 years..oops lets tack on another 15 years in Iraq. That Bozo in office grew up in experience as being the son of a president. As the quote goes “Fool me once……….shame on you…….you you you can’t get fooled again”. Yep we got fooled again and gave him 4 more years. Obama should find some Kennedy in office somewhere that hasn’t had the pub as old Ted. People still love those Kennedys.
Honestly, if I had it my way, I would kick them all out and start over with regular joe blows who know about the daily struggle rather than those Political Frat boys who are out of touch with the normal person. As a fellow Georgian, I was never embarassed for Jimmy Carter before now. If he held such strong convictions against Hillary, why didn’t he announce them early and support Obama when Kennedy did? This display of pure political cowardice disqualifies him for the status of elder statesman he so clearly craves.
Despite the name coincidence, John Edwards is a pure loser. How can choosing him as VP be helpful? He did not carry his own home state when running with Kerry.
Al Gore chose to give America over to Bush by NOT fighting. Or was he bought off by the promise of a Nobel Peace Prize? Now how can we have him as VP? He is a coward like Jimmy Carter. McCain would clean his clock, even though Gore “invented” the internet. Gore is a joke.
Any choice other than Hillary has to be less than ideal. Notice that even when the Obama nomination was all but a done deal, he could NOT close the deal. He lost—INDIANA, PENNSYLVANIA, KENTUCKY, W. VA, and now South Dakota. This does NOT bode well for winning in November. Obama’s momentum peaked months ago. Now add the disadvantage of rejecting Hillary and Obama cannot beat McCain.
The fact is the entire sorry lot that call themselves Democrats (Kerry and Chappaquidick Ted—included) all lack character. That is the biggest risk. Americans will not be fooled by weakness.
Hillary is a political viper, true. Strong, ceaseless, never say die, committed (used her own money to stay alive), bright, cheery, loyal… Isn’t that the person who you want in a fight? Isn’t she the person you want one heartbeat away from the Presidency?
Even now she continues to fight for the nomination. She has placed Obama in the politically untenable position of having to reject her. He cannot. No more so than Kennedy could reject Johnson. Obama will have committed an error that will cost the party the presidency if he chooses anyone other than Hillary after she has said she wants the VP slot.
Worse, if the ticket loses without her, Obama cannot come back in four years. His only course is to graciously accept Hillary and keep healthy.
As carter opines, just enough white people, women, veterans, conservatives, Clinton lovers, patriots, independents, and undecideds will vote against Obama and deliver us to a split government for another four years—UNLESS Hillary is on the ticket. If they lose with Hillary on the ticket, then Obama can point to Carter’s prediction and dump her next time.
This time it MUST be Hillary, or we get McCain. Jimmy, forget about it.

There are quite a few similarities between Obama and Carter; Carter got elected by a country that wanted change. Obama is nominated by country that wants change. Carter was (and still is)a screaming liberal. Obama is also a screaming liberal. If Obama is elected I predict that, just like Carter, he is going to go in with all the bluster of a hurricane, but his presidency will end in four years with a whimper. During his tenure, just like Carter’s, the country will grow to actually detest him. He cannot cowtow to minorities and liberals exclusively and run an effective government. They will hate him for this and he will have no core constituency for support. Wait and see (that is of course), if he wins, this will come to pass. The sad thing is the country will weaker for it.

I do not know anyone outside of Sam Nunn that could help this ticket that much except for Hillary Clinton. So the 1st question would be, “Is Sam going to come out of retirement?” The 2nd question is the same question asked for any VP. “Who else can get me votes that I could not get on my own?” When it comes to this question I think Hillary would be the #1. Carter is right that both would be attacked for their negatives though.

I have to agree with Jimmy Carter here. McCain is going to hit Obama time and again with his lack of foreign policy and military experience. Sam Nunn would bring far more people into the tent than Hillary Clinton. As much as I respect Senator Clinton’s determination, it’s time for her to fight for her party by enthusiastically throwing her support to Obama. Will she have the grit to do it? Only time will tell.
Sam Nunn will calm many moderate Democrat’s fears of an Obama candidacy. Moreover, Obama has to openly welcome Nunn as someone he wants to team with rather than as a vote getter. That will send a strong message to the electorate. Obama/Nunn will defeat McCain/?????.

I have come to realize that I will never understand politics in America. My personal beliefs lean more toward the Republican viewpoint, but that doesn’t make me a party loyalist. I am enraged to read people say that if you’re a Democrat you won’t vote for McCain or if you’re a Republican you won’t vote for Obama. My party affiliation is a direct result of the fact that I have to declare one to the other to get a ballot. It doesn’t mean I am in lock step with the party all the way up to the top. Whatever happened to individual thinking? No one party is right all the time. If they were, we would only have ONE party! And I will not be voting for Obama in November. Not because he is black (or half black), or because his middle name is Arabic, or because his wife says things that I find disgusting and offensive. I will not vote for him because I totally disagree with him on about 95% of all issues. That doesn’t make me a racist - it makes me an individual with the right to decide my vote based on issues. I don’t care what color a candidate is and in my heart I believe most people feel the same way. If Obama loses in November, I hope that some will consider the it might just be because of his beliefs and not his race, color or lack thereof!

Jimmy says that there is a segement of the democratic voting public that is concerned that Obama isn’t “white enough or perhaps not black enough.” That just goes to show how warped the democratic mind is in this country. Democrats think this is a beauty pageant. Obama is a radical at best and Hillary is insane. The best ticket for both parties would be Newt/Nunn. Not sure on their history with one another, but they could reach across the aisle and get some things done. This democratic congress has done little accept name some bridges and buildings and reluctantly approve the troop surge, which by the way is working. Look at who the Democrats put out there as leaders: Pelosi(Freak), Reed(Bed-wetter), Carter(Traitor), Kennedy(Suspected Murder), Hillary(Delusional), Bill(Infinite adjectives), and Obama(Unamerican). Your best candidate is Sam Nunn and he can’t stomach the thought of dealing with the cast of characters in the democratic-led congress.

I agree…There are people who will consider the O Man’s color and not vote for him because he’s half black/half white, but I do believe most people will vote based on what he stands for. And I don’t like what he stands for, in addition to the fact that he has VERY LITTLE EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE…..that’s a pretty big one for me.

Sam Nunn said this morning that there was no chance he would be on the ticket with Obama and no chance he would ever get back into government so that one is out. Keep grasping folks because Obama really needs a man behind him that has governmental experience in case he wins the election. At least there would be someone up there who has a clue! Reality is starting to hit now huh? LOL!

The libs are basing their entire campaign on tying McCain to Bush. Problem is, McCain has a record of being a maverick and working with the Democrat party. Here’s the dirty little secret, it did not matter who we nominated they planned on running against Bush, regardless. McCain will not fit that mold. I guess that is part of the bright side of nominating McCain. Barry Obama will now have to run a campaign based on issues- the things he knows nothing about. This is gearing up to be an exciting general election.
Oh, Hillary will not get out of the race until the very end. All this Veep talk on both sides is premature. Peace.

if you truly want to know how barack was able to beat hillary despite her dubious claim of getting the most popular votes (if the caucus states aren’t counted at all, and michigan is counted only for her), then read this link.
it really shows how hillary’s supposedly knowledgeable campaign advisors really let her down. it also shows that hillary can be blindsided in broad daylight.

Unfortunately, most people in this country have no idea what the issues actually are. They vote because: 1) they saw it on the news 2) mom and dad have always voted that way, so it must be right 3) which party is going to give me the most money that I don’t have to work for.
Most have no clue how policies affect the country LONG term. Its all about instant gratification, especially in todays “me” generation. Its all about wanting what the “joneses” have, but not putting in the effort to get it. Its a lot easier letting Uncle Sam take it away from the working people of this country and give it to “me”.
If people look close enough, they will notice that Obamas’ agenda is very close to socialism. Something the US, since its birth, has fought against. Now for the sake of “change”, socialism will take over this country without a shot being fired. Good job guys, hope you enjoy living in poverty with the rest of your fellow citizens.

Most Saudis don’t like us because they resent the ruling party that gauge and expooit all the resources for thmselves and guess who makes certain that they stay in power…the U.S. Our government is such hypocrits. Sadam was a monster, he killed kids, murdered many, performing gemocide. It is a known fact that we knew that he murdred everybody when he took over that could possibly oppose him. Brought them all in a room like a big board meeting, read the names and each one was walked out an executed. We knew his track record and then we supplied him with weapons to fight Iran. He wasn’t a monster then when he showered Iran with chemical weapons that has affected generations til this day, but now since he went into Kuwait, he is this monster. He was a monster when we hired him now it all of a sudden it is revealed and fed to the public for the war effort. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO OUR “PARTNERS/FRIENDS” ARE! I think Hillary should go on vacation! She’s worked hard, 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, for months on end, in spite of being told “she thinks she’s entitled” and “she’s only in it because of her husband,” and “why doesn’t she just quit!” The Obama supporters, having won more delegates if not votes, can now figure out for themselves how to woo the 17+ million Hillary voters to his side. That shouldn’t be a problem, right? Let them handle it.

The Obama candidacy is doomed and nobody will redeem it.
Hillary will only be 64 in 2012 after the McCain landslide, so why should Hillary associate herself with a miserable McGovern-style loss?
At the same time, Hillary must insulate herself from an Obama alibi that she didn’t support the ticket.
On November 5, 2008, there’ll be no one except the Clintons to pick up the pieces of the Democrats and start over again.
It’s instructive to remember that Bill Clinton’s the only Democrat since Franklin Roosevelt to win TWO Presidential elections.
It’s also instructive to remember that Jimmy Carter and Hamilton Jordan snookered the Democrats for the nomination in 1976, and went down the drain against Reagan in 1980.
Why’s it instructive? It’s history.

To the “Truth” and others, listen closely, blacks can’t be racists. Here’s the reason, the little “IST” on the end of the word denotes systemic control, blacks control nothing in America. Barack Obama doesn’t control anything, he’s supposed to be a servant of the people, Oprah doesn’t control anything, her show can be pulled at anytime. pro athletes, rappers, entertainers, control squat, diddly. So where is the clout or control, and how would it affect white lives? All of that said, think about all of the areas of life that whites control, and then think about how those areas affect black people.

Mr. Obama should choose a running mate that compliments him. Not one that has demeaned him and would be a threat to his own message. The Clintons are not a stable force that bring good to a ticket. I believe Mr. Obama should pick someone like Evan Byah to be his running mate.

Perhaps I missed something. Did Sam Nunn get over his rampant homophobia that largely resulted in “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”? I never heard about it. Bobby, Bobby, Bobby….
You have been watching too much TV again. Just because the US supplied Iraq with weapons to fight Iran, doesn’t make us bosom buddies with Saddam. More like tolerating the lesser of two evils. I love the way you liberals label everything “this or that”. There is an awful lot of grey in this world. The US tolerates many dictatorships for that same reason. Better to be on the side of the lesser evil, than not be in the game at all.
As for oil in Africa, please do your homework on that one, you obviously have a computer. Do your own research instead of relying on someone elses untruths. There is plenty of oil in Africa, just ask the Chinese.
Word of advice - Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see, and always do your own research.

Will President O, be called a White-Black American, Black-White American or a Wack American? If he is bringing “CHANGE”, do you think he will drop the color that defines what type of American you are? Cause until we unite, there will always be a divide in this country. I am tired of all these republicans posing as democrats for Hillary. They are just trolls on blogs trying to create tension that Hillary supporters will not support Obama; mainly women. Any woman who supports her right to choose and votes for McCain who has plainly stated his desire to overturn Roe vs. Wade gets what they deserve. i usually balk at every work comming out of that old man’s mouth, but he is correct. Nunn would help Obama immensly. Nunn definately wins over the blue collar dems and could possibly deliver Ga to the Dems for the first time in recent memory. As much as I hate all things democrat, I actually like and respect Nunn (disclamer: I am from his hometown, and his cousin was my second grade teacher) Regardless, as carter pointed out, Obama has some serious shortfalls that need to be addressed, and just because his veep doesn’t have the same pittfals doesn’t mean that Obama will get a free pass from us republicans (or the all important independents)
When it comes down to it, the negatives for Obama are huge at this point all the controversy we have seen with his wife, paster, California comments will still be there. I personally think there is much more to come.
I look forward to seeing Obama loose to Mcain. No matter who the Veep is, Obama’s personal and political shortfalls cannot be addressed with charisma in a general election

If brains were dynamite, Jimmy Carter wouldn’t have enough to blow his nose! The majority of the literate voters will not vote Obama because they recognize from his mostly undefined “Change BS” that he is for many of the same bone-headed ideas that Carter rammed through Congress such as fixin’ the high gas prices by imposing a windfall profit tax on those evil oil companies…..that really worked out well didn’t it. Do you think we would have have the degree of global Islamic-terriorism if Carter hadn’t made the asinine mistake of removing US backing of the USA friendly Shah of Iran (for a few human rights violations) and put in place the present terriorist government who put to death hundreds of thousands of dissidents in it’s first years (but I guess that wasn’t against the human rights of anyone)and is financing/arming the insurgents in Iraq. Obama wants to meet with terriorist and talk…it didn’t work with Hitler and it won’t work now!

Why are we all for human rigts running into Iraq to liberate them but ignored what was going on in Africa. Just say it is in our government’s interest not “it’s for the people”. By the way, I am not liberal, I’m a playa! I play both sides depending on what you would say “Is is being sold”. I am not loyal to any party. I’m wondering how many of you cows in the herd were even around during what you call Jimmy Carter’s “failed” presidency. With the lies, hate-mongering and flag-waving smokescreens that have been perpetuated on the American populace over the last 30 years, it’s really depressing that our one leader who seemed to see the nature of our future energy problems and their ties to the sensitivities of the middle east, continues to be ridiculed by the ignorant masses.
Also, I’d like to know, aside from his foolish personal mistake, what was so terrible about the Clinton Presidency, that no one would want another Clinton in the White House — that just doesn’t make sense, as the Clinton years have been the only bright spot for conditions for the American people in thirty years — it was all good, even if your weren’t a millionaire.

Bush allegedly has all the the experience in the world but where has it led us…paying $4.00 a gallon and counting and of course an unnecessary war. Republican (McCain) policies are obviously not the answer. Why? Because you couldn’t see yourself voting for someone of color. Someone who represents the “American” dream? To blame the price of gas on Bush….ignorant…It goes way deeper and further back than that. Oh, but that’s right, it is easier to blame Bush than to really think about why prices are the way they are.

Poor Nick,
Gas is $4+ a gallon not because of Republican policies, but democratic policies. It is the democrats that have made the US dependant on foreign oil - look it up. No drilling in Alaska, no drilling in the Gulf or off the shores of the west coast. No new refineries. How dare you even try to blame it on Bush. Shows your ignorance.
As far as the liberal ploy of “war for oil”, do your homework. Yes, the US is dependant on foreign oil. Been that way for a long time, through Republican AND Democratic administrations. But the last thing the US needs to do is “get out of the Middle East”. As long as your beloved democrats keep us dependant on foreign oil, things will stay the same. Just what do you liberals think will happen if we get out? Can you say depression. Inflation will skyrocket, transportation come to a halt, and you better have a garden, as food supplies will not get to the neigborhood store. Forget about the economy, there wont be one.
As far as our current economy, by definntion, we are NOT in a recession. The economy has slowed down, but not stopped or declined. The last recession in the US was 1999/2000. And guess what, a Democrat was in the White house. Maybe it is you that needs to quit drinking the cool-aid.

Which means her 18 million voter base that Hillary claims needs to be respected and has power…really doesn’t if they already established a site to vote republican…Are you sure you support Hillary?
I guess when she promotes Obama and her democrat party…She will realize her own supporters never was really for her or her democratic party…They obviously had another agenda…Thanks for putting that out there…I am sure Hillary is very proud of you…LOL

The Last Honest President
Too old to give a hoot, Jimmy Carter calls it like it is - Hell No! Hillary Must Go!
Look beyond the election - assume Obama/Clinton have the votes to win -could they work together as a team?
No! The Clinton’s are not trustworthy, both Hillary and Bill will look you straight in the eye and lie between their teeth.
Lil’ Bush, John McClain and Roger Clemens are no different. We need a change!
On another note, whats gotten into Bob Johnson, Founder of BET, do all black men turn into Uncle Toms at 60?
He’d be better off fixing that trash he created rather than tap dancing for Hillary Clinton.
I lost a certain degree of respect for the guy, despite admiring his accomplishments, most of my adult life.

As far as Obama - does anyone really KNOW what he stands for??? He is all TALK and would be another Jimmy Codder as president. Talk about a recession… if you vote for Obama you are voting for a 20% interest rate stagflation recession like Jimmy Codder brought on us. All of the conservatives love to talk about what a bad American Carter is for meeting with terrorists when their boy, Ronald Reagan, negotiated with and gave arms to known terrorists, not to mention Saddam Hussein. They talk about Carter’s failed presidency when we’re in the midst of the worst failure ever of a presidency.
Wake up you retards! Quit swallowing all of the crap that spews out of Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s mouths. Grow a mind of your own for cryin’ out loud!
And then you have the religious zealots who think Obama is the anti-Christ referred to in Revelations. Do these idiots realize that Reagan had the mark of the beast? Yes, 666. “Ronald Wilson Reagan”, that’s 6 letters in each name, that’s 666. OK, I’m joking, but that always stuns the overly religious folks when I mention that to them.
Seriously, I’d like to see a democrat in the White House, and a slight majority republican congress. That way, I’m more likely to get the social liberalism and fiscal conservatism that I prefer. I know the republican congress from 2000 to 2006 wasn’t fiscally responsible, but there’s more chance of it happening with a democrat in the White House paired with a republican congress.

Yes, we are in a recession…I think only republicans should have to payback China that 1.4 trillion dollars of debt, republicans only should pay for the money Haliburton lost, and give it to the vets, suffering in va hospital across America..Pay to rebuild the WTC…That way they can finish what their republican president has never done..and they can also go to Iraq and Afghanistan and spew racial slurs to Arabs and call it their right to freedom of speech…And since so many our concerned about their safety…Why build your own bunkers and live in fear…But watch out for the McVeighs of your own ilk, they are known as mass murders and terrorist as well…Perhaps, McVeigh and his group is where 9/11 got the ideal from…Then again when McVeigh did it, there was no one to go to war with…

I agree with Carter. Hillary and Bill are both egomaniacs, and are all about Hillary and Bill, not about what is right for this country. She’d find a way to make herself the center of attention and would be a distraction for Obama as he would be forced to find a politically correct way to get her to shut up.
In terms of “experience,” Hillary has experience being a first lady and a U.S. Senator. She does not have the experience of actually being a world leader or as a substantial formulator of public policy. Her lone attempt at this sort of thing—the Clinton healthcare initiative—failed miserably because of her own hubris and her unwillingness to compromise. Obama needs someone with the gravitas necessary to reassure those voters who might decry his lack of experience as a leader in international affairs. Edwards would be a poor choice because he is essentially a Southern white version of Obama; he adds little to the ticket (and is a sleazeball plaintiff’s attorney to boot). Gore would be a great choice, given his recently rehabbed image as a global warming guru, but he won’t put his family back through the political meat grinder, and he’s making way too much money in his current situation to go back to the future and be VP one more time. Sam Nunn is actually a pretty good choice. He’d be a centrist anchor for an Obama presidency, and has the military expert chops to make the ticket much more formidable in November.

Doesn’t need the threat that Clinton poses. Some people just can’t wait thier turn I guess. Did you guys know that, John Hinckley, the man that shot Reagan is the son of a close Bush Sr. business associate from Colorado and owner of a Denver-based firm, Vanderbilt Energy Corp. Scott Hinckley, John’s brother, was on an invitation list for a function thrown by Neil Bush before the shooting. In an Associated Press Domestic News March 31, 1981, Tuesday, PM cycle article; Sharon Bush, Neil’s wife, said Scott Hinckley was coming to their house as a date of a girl friend of hers. “I don’t even know the brother. From what I know and I’ve heard, they (the Hinckleys) are a very nice family and have given a lot of money to the Bush campaign. I understand he was just the renegade brother in the family. Typical lib, change the definitions as needed to make your point. Yes, the economy is slow right now, but again, it is NOT in recession. History will look back at this period and the #’s don’t lie, unlike some of the above posters. You want to call it SLOW, go right ahead, but using the recession word only shows your lack of knowledge.
Hypothetical question for all:
Lets say you have 2 students at UGA and one goes all 4 years and never parties because he/she studies to maintain a 4.0 gpa and graduates with honors. Student # 2 parties his/her butt off and flunks out in his second year. How many posters here think it would be the right thing to do by dividing up the grades of both students, so that they both would graduate with a C or D average?????
If you think it would be right to take the A’s away from the student that did not party and worked hard for his/her A’s, then go right ahead and vote for Obama. Because his policies are based on taking away from those that work for their money and giving it to those that sit on their a* everyday and watch tv. Good luck with that. If you think corporations are shipping jobs out of this country now, what do you think will happen when Obama raises the taxes. More corps will go off-shore to get away from it. Why do you think Ireland is doing so well??

Good Lord, Please don’t let it be Obama and Hitlary. To be honest, both Parties have sat on their duffs and not done anything smart or worth noting for our country since the Reagan era. The politicians in Washington are, for the most part, self serving and living off the pork. Their spending policies are rampped; still too much government; the system of taxation is insane at best; our borders are wide open; our pesonal liberties are diminishing; our system of education is in the toilet, and the our country is being sold out to unfreindly governments. We need solid, meaningful, knowledgable, conservative leadership in the White House. Obama nor Hitlary could possibly run this country with any degree of success. Obama? What the heck is Obama all about? Everyone should be aware of the company Obama has kept, and people he’s been closely associated with, i.e. a known anti American terrorist; radical racists, etc.

Carter irrelevent? I guess that’s why a London newspaper asked him his opinion on the subject? There are only a select handfull of people who have ever been elected POTUS and he’s one of them. Some of you might want to remember that.
Why would any Democrat want Hillary on the ticket after she set the table for her “demands” Tuesday night? For Obama to pick her would make him look incredibly weak. If he’s going to be the strong candidate that Democrats are going to project him to be then the worst thing in the world he could do is appear to give in to the demands of a defeated candidate.
It was a very Clintonesque move to be sure. But then the Clintons have always been out for themselves and no one else.

I am sick and tired of people talking how bad a president JC was and how obama is not qualified or the company he keeps, but nothing is said about the current one along with his henchmen. Either give him the same respect you ‘re giving JC and Obama or get over it and grow up while you’re at it. Reading all the negative comments about Obama it would be hard for me to beleive your not racist or just deaf and dumb. Nunn is currently serving as an advisor to Obama, if I remember correctly. My choice for VP would be Robert Wexler. His book is due out in a few weeks called Fire-Breathing Liberal: How I learned to Survive (and Thrive) in the Contact Sport of Congress. Obama’s administration will need balls of steel to get the Change we Hope for put into law by Congress. In my opinion Obama and Clinton would be a horrible marriage of convenience. I voted for her, but even I think her skills would be put to better use in a cabinet position.

Why is it that now, all of a sudden, the Dems think Hillary & Bill don’t walk on water. When they were in office they couldn’t do any wrong…now that’s all they CAN do. I’m no Democratic supporter, but it certainly seems their support changes when someone, read Obama, comes on the national stage and has better sounding platitudes. With Democrats it’s all about FEELINGS and has nothing to do with reality. It doesn’t matter who he picks, he can’t debate without a teleprompter.

There’s a bit of a catch-22 here. If Obama does not pick Clinton, much of her voting bloc will feel alienated and it could hurt his chances in November. Yet, picking someone like Sam Nunn or General Clark would probably help pick up some moderate votes that might otherwise go to McCain. I do feel like either Obama or McCain will be an improvement over W.

As a time-honored former President that stood up for what was right during his admistration, before and after his time in the White House, Jimmy Carter has nothing but respect and decency in his heart for this country. His attempts to bring about a better America during his administration was underminded by the self-proponents and conspiracy pirates from his own cabinet, administration and party, not to mention the money-hungry, win-at-all-costs republicans in congress, both then and now! The integrity that this man has is beyond measure; in every apsect of his thinking. From his civic mindedness to his cultural global positionary thinking, his zest for the well-being of every human being is far reaching beyond the average american “all-about-me” & “what’s best-for me”-attitude in this country. I trust his opinion(s) as much as I would a Billy Graham or any other well respected time-honored Ameriacan that is lead by what is left of the truth and honor in this country. If people would take a look at themselves, and realizwe that what this country needs is more men and women with the character and integrity of a Jimmy Carter and others like him, then just maybe, we all could get along and accept each other as the people that God intended us to be when He made man in the beginning - so that we can elect a President that is not only Of the People, By the People and For the People”, but exemplifies the same honor and integrity as Jimmy Carter.
Just a comment!

And thank you R2D2 for reminding us of the personal qualities tied to respect such as honor and integrity! These attributes have been retired and sacrificed during the Bush years in a trade off for the illusion of security triggered by wholesale denial of events here at home and the political realities playing out on the world stage.
Thank you, thank you thank you!

Jimmy Carter’s recommendation makes sense. I concur. Hilary has shown herself to be a vicious, selfish brat. She has set women back many years. She obviously was never in sports to learn how to win and lose. And for those of you who will choose not to vote because your candidate didn’t win, you’re losers too. Many Americans vote for the lesser of the evils in their party, there’s no perfect candidate to meet the needs of everyone.
It’s interesting to hear and see the behavior of the American people. I can only imagine what the world is saying about us. We’re so spoiled and selfish and don’t even get it. Half of us don’t even know the issues and have no clue about world politics on any level. Those that talk about Senator Obama’s lack of experience probably haven’t researched a darn thing because that’s not really your issue. And if it is, please share the experience of every other candidate and how well it has worked for us.
Nothing on this planet evolves without change. Our political system needs a complete overhaul as do many other things in this country. Things get worn out people and require change, innovation…what’s wrong with trying a new approach. What’s wrong with sitting down talking to enemies and seeing if we could reach a mutual agreement? Think about your individual lives and how you interact and deal with people and issues.
The powers that be will have you believe that our supposed enemies are the scum of the earth, well, what about the evil, malicious things America does to others. We have a way of being in denial about our dirty ways and we’re comfortable embracing and believing anything our government officials say and do. Grow up, research, educate yourselves. This race is about Intelligence vs Ignorance, Digital vs Analog thinking

For those voters considering Obama, please read this:
This conclusion is from a study on taxes by Romer and Romer who are professors of economics from the University of California at Berkley, which by the way is one of the most liberal universities in the US.
“Applied to 2007, the study suggests that after two to three years, a tax increase of about 1 percent of GDP (about $135 billion) would reduce output by about $400 billion annually.”
Obama has some good ideas and some very bad ideas, but if any of you are worried about the economy now, how could you possibly vote for his increase in taxes, when all history indicates that the economy will suffer greatly because of it. Sure, those lazy enough to get handouts from uncle sam will love it, but most of working america will pay for it. Many with their own jobs. When companies start loosing money, just who do you think will be out of a job first?? It will be you.

jj, Please justify your assertion that any of the policy proposals put forth by Obama to get us of this Bush/Republican created mess will result in raising taxes.

It is unfortunate that there are already posts that are, in essence, implying that if you do not vote for Obama, you are a racist. Lets not consider that fact that in economics101 you are taught that raising taxes increases unemployment(factual and historical data), yet for some reason people believe that this will change under an Obama presidency. Obama ripped into and blamed Bush for GM closing 4 manufacturing plants. Blame the businees for not forcasting properly (again, econ101). Obama wants to impliment a “windfall tax” on companies, more importantly Oil. Businesses will always pass on increased costs to the consumer to maintain their profit MARGIN (econ 101) These are a few examples about the proposed policies of Obama, a highly educated man who did not learn anything in his economics class; what else did he not learn?

Obama winning the nomination of the democrats is truly a sad and frightening indicator of how ignorant, lazy and corrupt a large portion of the American population has become, which in turn, will prove to doom us all.
How in the WORLD have we become a nation that is not only tolerating, but actually SUPPORTING and CHAMPIONING an anti-American socialist whose only goal is to ascend to power by pandering to the ignorance of blacks AND whites who feel entitled to have the “govment” take care of their every need and want? Who subscribe to the “groupthink” mentality that has taken a grip on so many who cannot reason for themselves (instigated and fed by liberal whites for their OWN political gain) - who believe that a so-called “black” president will somehow magically solve ALL their problems, and make high and mighty EUROPE love us again? (remind me again why we’d ever use imploding-in-on-itself-Europe to benchmark our worth???)
Problems, by the way, brought on from bad choices made by INDIVIDUALS that are excused as symptoms of an “oppressive white society”? Problems, by the way, perpetuated by cultural standards which glorify criminal behavior, along with promiscuous and demeaning sexual attitudes exhibited in their music, their heroes (eg., Malcom X, Farrakan, Sharpton, Jackson and the assortment of rap artists currently serving time), and their own self-destructive actions resulting in over-indexed rates of low graduation, low test scores, out-of-wedlock births, drug abuse, welfare recipients, black-on-black crime, black-on-white murder, incarceration, bad credit scores, and home foreclosures - to name a few?
Sorry, folks, but NO black OR white president is going to solve those problems for you…
But what this so-called “black” presidential hopeful IS planning to accomplish is the creation of a socialist and TRULY repressive state that re-distributes wealth from those who “do”, to those who “don’t.”…
You say that’s a good thing, do you? Not so if he DID magically make you wealthy and prosperous all of a sudden - despite your own destructive choices - because, well, then, it’ll be YOUR turn to pay up!
He also aims to create a tax structure that punishes all those “evil” companies that, oh by the way, happen to provide jobs, products and services at competitive prices for us all to enjoy and use. You think there’s too many jobs going overseas today? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet, my friend. If businesses want to stay in business -which, I know, how greedy of them - then they will do what’s necessary to STAY in business and avoid the punishment of paying even HIGHER corporate taxes than ever for the sinful act of producing a profit for their shareholders, employees and their communities.
And let’s not forget UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE that your hero plans to implement via the GOVERNMENT! That’s right, let’s hope our government manages our “universal” healthcare system as well as they manage our social security, education, housing and our tax system! After all, they sure have a lot of credibilty there, considering how fair, competent and healthly THOSE government-run and regulated agencies are…And what OUTSTANDING results each of these agencies and systems produce!
What is more frightening than Barack Obama as president? Or Hillary, for that matter?
The people who vote for him. Obama can’t hurt us, but the mentality that gets him elected DOES…and WILL.
Remember: folks like Marx and Stalin and Hitler got their power to enact terror from the very People who supported them.
Welcome to their world - People.

Ok first off I’d like to state that I am a caucasian, jewish, female and an avid supporter of Obama. Too much in this election has been placed on race, gender, and religion and not on policies. In terms of focusing on the policies, I was a huge supporter of Bill Clinton while he was presidency, but times have changed and we now need not a return to the Clinton years, but a leader that can move our country foward. And in terms of economic downturn, it is all of our responsibility to change the way we run our economy, both the government, big business, and we as consumers need to rethink a more sustainable economy. I (as a young, recent college graduate, who will most have to carry the burden of our deteriorating economy) believe that Obama has the strongest economic platform to turn this country around and stop making the same mistakes that both the Bush and Clinton administration have made in the past. As much as I admire Hillary Clinton and am concerned about her followers, I completely agree with President Carter in saying that a joint ticket would be a stupid idea.

You have to appreciate and respect Carter’s straightforwardness.
I agree with him 100%. I beleive that it would almost be an insult to the American voters to even contemplate such a ticket. Here you have a woman who has belittled Obama, tried to convince people that he is not even qualified to run in this race, turned a block of Democratic voters against him, and provided ammunition to McCain to fight against Obama. McCain himself said that he thinks he could get Hillary’s voters because she already convinced them that Obama is totally unqualified. Now how would that look. After all that crap, now running on the same ticket with a man you pretty much labeled as incompetent for the job. I felt as though she took a selfish stance on her campaign - “Either I get nominated, or no other Democrat will stand a chance in hell of winning.”

There is hours of video showing prominent Democrat elected officials calling for war in 2002. (Jay Rockefeller was particularly eloquent.) In fact, Democrat senators demanded a second Iraq war resolution, because the idea was popular at the time, and the midterms were just around the corner. It is a fact, nambi, so you will not believe it.
Congress has the power of the purse. Congress must take some responsibility for the “debt.” There are a ton of lib democrats, and yes far too many Republicans, that spent too much money on redundant, ineffective government programs. To simply hang the noose of national debt around Republican heads is way off base. I have never met a democrat that did not want to expand government spending. This, democrats can do no wrong meme, is getting old. Like Hillary.

Churchill, I find it funny that Nandi states that no one will give my “long winded post” the time of day - yet she obviously DID devote quite a bit of her day to responding to it.
Nandi, thank you for proving my point about the ignorance of Obama fans, as you clearly don’t even know what the term “over-indexed rates” mean. Nor the definition of of “racism”, a term you obviously enjoy branding about, although you obviously have no idea of it’s meaning.
Tell me, exactly where in my post did I imply that one race is inherently and genetically superior to the other?
Your reply also indicates a sore lack of common sense and reasoning skills when, on the one hand you blame Bush and the government for “indebting” this country to the Chinese (debt approved by a Dem-run Congress, by the way)…and yet, based on the social programs proposed by Mr. Obama, you somehow look to that SAME incompetent government to steal and manage even more of OUR money via raised taxes. Um, who do you think will FUND his generous programs, my friend?
BTW, Nandi, my “backyard” is not filled with trash because I’ve made good choices in my life, as have many other’s - both black and white. But,you see, unlike you and your “ilk”, I don’t lump everyone into either “black” or “white” like you did. And again, exactly WHERE did I state that the only people who make bad choices are black? But yet, YOU jumped to that conclusion that I was only referring to blacks. Hate to break it to you, but if the definition of “racist” were what you thought it was, why then, I believe it is YOU who has revealed your true beliefs about the black race, my dear, not me.
One other little fact my friend: I bet you didn’t know Mr. Obama’s candidacy is supported by the Communist Party USA. Look it up on their website, www.cpusa.org. Now, who in their right MIND would EVER vote for an American presidential candidate, endorsed by the Communist Party?
Oh, that’s right..people in their LEFT mind…otherwise known as democrats.

And if you go back to your 9th grade ss class, you should have also learned that Congress can over-ride any veto. Congress has the ultimate authority. Congress controls the purse. And your beloved democratic congress has yet to do anything except name a few streets and pass a farm bill that gives money to millionaire farmers, while the cost of food keeps going up. You and I not only get to pay more for food, but we pay it twice with higher taxes to give money to the rich farmers.
If your beloved democrats had any intention of cutting costs or stopping the war in Iraq, don’t you think they should have done it by now? There is nothing stopping them since they control both the House and Senate, and don’t give me that veto crap, as Bush vetoed the “money to rich farmers” bill and they passed it anyway. You need to grow up and get a look at the big picture. Your democrats will tax, tax, tax, and we WILL become a socialist country.
If you actually did any research, you would be able to look at McCain’s record in the senate and see that he has on numerous occasions worked with democrats to better this country. He has sponsored many bills with democrats as co-sponsors. Obama, on the other hand, is so far left in his policies, there is no chance for cooperation. I know which one is better for this country, unfortunately, many on here do not. Vote strictly by party, and you will get what you vote for. But unfortunately, what you think you are voting for is not what you will get. Do you know that Clinton is the first democratic president to be in office for 8 yrs in modern times?? All the others had 4 yrs and were gone. Do a little research (and that doesn’t mean watch tv like the majority of dems) and you will see why they lasted only 4 years. Higher taxes = slower economy. The data doesn’t lie. And for the individual above that asked which of Obamas policies call for an increase in taxes, the easiest to reference is the repeal of the tax cuts = higher taxes.
