Root backs Barr

Denver - Wayne Allyn Root just endorsed Bob Barr for the Libertarian presidential nomination, a move that could assure Root the vice presidential slot and Barr the top spot.

“It’s not over,” Root told the convention moments after meeting with Barr. “It’s just beginning. I’d like to be part of a Barr-Root ticket.”

The sixth ballot is straight ahead. It will be the last. If Root’s supporters honor his wishes, it’ll be a Barr victory.

Yeah go Barr, lets elect the most liberal senator ever running for president.

Yeah that will show them. Electing Obama to stack the court with six justices over the age of 70. Electing Obama with a fillibuster proof majority in the senate and house.

Yeah lets elect Obama even though he has an F grade from the NRA.

We need to change the culture of this country, beginning with the Southern white man and his proud legacy of genocide, slavery, terrorism and incest. If Barr can draw votes from the right, he’ll have done a great service to the naiton. Obama ‘08!

Oh no! Them evil Dems!

McCain = pro-amnesty, anti-gun rights (oh noes! Obama has an F- .. yet Gun Owners of America gives McCain an F—)*, anti-first amendment, pro-nanny state, pro-emissions caps and totalitarian ‘global warming’ schemes, pro-La Raza (he is speaking at their convention, after all!), pro-abortion, pro-federal funding of life-killing embryonic stem cells, and of course his core issue: let’s stay in Iraq for “100 years, 1,000 years, great!”

Only after Jimmy Carter did we get Reagan. So I say, hell yeah, Let’s go Bob Barr. If McCain wins, the GOP will NEVER, EVER take the small-gov’t, personal responsibility, national security core of the party serious again. They’ll know they can get away with anything.

This is not the srongest ticket for the LP. The strongest ticket would;ve been Barr/Ruwart. Barr can aggressively go after the Reps/Dems, but has no history in the LP. Ruwart has a long history in the LP and can clearly express the Libertarian values and keep Barr on track.

Root is not the VP candidate for the ticket. JHe may be a libeertarian, but basically he’s a carnival barker and sales dude who’s way to over the top.

Good news for Obama! Barr will split the trash vote.

Trash votes for trash, and now they have two choices!

To Greg Jimmy Carter picked no supreme court justices. Obama will pick 6 supreme court justices and stack the court for the rest of our lives. Hope you enjoy having to see everyone watch every word they see for fear it offends Obama. Also Jimmy Carter didn’t have filibuster proof majorities in the senate and house like Obama will have.

McCain is far better on the second amendment than Obama. McCain is against assault weapons ban. McCain is against the DC ban. Obama is for the DC ban.

McCain is as small government as anyone in congress. He has never voted for an earmark. He voted against the prescription drug bill. He voted against the highway bill.

The conservatives who think it is a good idea to elect Obama will have zero creditibilty to then be upset. Obama will make marxism mainstream. McCain is for a security fence. Obama is for stopping the construction. With Obama he will change the demographics so much we will never ever ever have another republican elected.

It is Bush’s fault that God Hates Trash has been run off of several blogs. It is also Bush’s fault that Trash was run out of the state. It is Bush’s fault that Trash confirms the “bitter/clinger” point of view shared by most elite liberals and particularly Sen. Obama. It is Bush’s fault that Trash’s mom did not abort him/her… take out the trash so to speak. I hate Bush.

It would seem we have some very strong opinions here. Lets remember Obama and McCain represent the brand name of their parties. Both parties have done very little for the American people in years. They are all their lining their pockets and we have people which vote brand and not with their brains. When will Americans wake up from this goofy belief their desires for the good of the country will be met by either the Democrats or the Republicans. The only hope we have to stop the madness of both parties toward our open borders is to elect Libertarian leader with common sense. What is it with people stating I’m Republican or Democrat and neither party cares less about you. The trash vote as mentioned here is ignorance of those which believe they are superior to anyone voter making his or her vote count. My thought is if you vote Democrat or Republican you are the trash voter. I see little difference in the position of those running from both of these parties. Bob Barr offers another choice for the American people. Making your mind up about the man before you have heard his position is ridicules on the basis of your brand name party. So rather then insult each other wouldn’t it make more sense to elect the right person and not the party for President? This Country can ill afford to have another Bush or Carter. Think about it and remember your future and your children’s future depend of the right decision.

Sean,

If you are convinced that Barr will help elect Obama, then I politely and sincerely suggest you have your work cut out for you. Since you absolutely cannot abide the thought of an Obama presidency (nor can I), I imagine you will be working your hardest to see that Barr is elected. I trust you’ll be donating heavily to his campaign, telling all your friends, and writing “Vote for Barr” on all the blogs….

Root was and is the best candidate the LP has ever had. He will run for President again in 2012, and I will vote for him again then. It is a crying shame Root didn’t win the Presidential nomination. We need a Libertarian Party Presidential candidate that supports jury nullification of law. Whether Barr will reverse his position on that subject remains to be seen. There will certainly be a lot of pressure put upon him to do so.

To carol you don’t go from no seats in the congress and senate to the presidency. No libertarian has ever gotten 1 million votes while it will take over 67 million votes at least to win this year. Voting for Barr is voting for Obama. So once again the minority can stack the supreme court. Barr will be another perot. The left loves barr running. That is all you need to know.

This is great news for Obama.

About 50% of the voters in this country are complete morons. After all, a cretin coward like George W. Bush was able to get over 50% against John Kerry.

Barr’s candidacy splits the moron vote. He could get as high as 6-8% in some states, Georgia being one of them. Colorado is another. This puts these states in play - high black turnout in Georgia, young people who aren’t as idiotic as their parents, and Barr siphoning off a few percent of the redneck/aluminum-foil hat vote - voila - Dem victory in Georgia.

Colorado fundamentalists and other assorted idiots will shun McCain and vote for Barr - it’s going to be close there, and McCain can’t afford to lose any votes…

New Hampshire - closest blue state in 2004 - lots of aluminum-foil hat crowd there, too, and, as the state is almost lily white, some racists. Barr gives them a choice to spread their hate and paranoia around - McCain can’t afford to lose any votes there, either, even running against a black man.

Thanks Libertarians! Deep in your hearts, you know McCain is just Dumbya II.

My present point of view is that I will vote for Chuck Baldwin in November. However, I do not know enough about him and his political point of view to be determined to support him. Also, the Republican VP pick may make a difference.
I just built a new forum for discussing Bob Barr. It links to the associated forums for John McCain, Barack Obama, and Chuck Baldwin. There’s plenty of room for discussion. Participate in the new forum at http://BobBarr.dominates.us/forum/.

Sean,

I originally hail from Canada and am familiar with 3rd party politics. Third parties can make headway, but it can’t be done in one election.

The Reform Party of Canada, in the space of a few elections, completely wiped the Conservative Party off the map. Over the years they eventually joined forces with the old conservatives, sigh. Neverthelss, the current Prime Minister of Canada, Steven Harper, is an old Reform Party radical.

Now, I do find it a mystery that Americans, with their glorious history of larger-than-life patriots and a world-inspiring story of revolution against tyranny, don’t have as much backbone as a bunch of pacifist Canadians.

Let me tell you how it is done. It starts with enough people saying no and being willing to “waste” their vote so that the People of Principle will have have the courage and the momentum to carry on. It grows and then grows like wildfire.

The key to freedom is that you have to be brave enough to lose!

America has become a cowardly nation. People are too afraid to lose. But since I don’t see Obama as being any worse than McCain — just different — I’m not afraid of losing.

Any person has to assess the reality of Bob Barr, Ralph Nader, and a Chuck Baldwin candidacies. Look at the recent national polling data on each of the third party candidates. If you total all three candidates together their is no way they receive more than 8-10% in any state or of the national popular vote. Yes, a Nader or Barr candidacy will sway some vital swing states such as GA, NM, CO, and OH, but Obama & McCain will continue the same Bush policies. Will the war in Iraq end in 2010-2013 time frame? Will we see lower gasoline prices? Will more people be able to afford Health Insurance? How many other issues does the rhetoric in the end fail to solve our nation’s problems. Words do not solve problems and Obama/McCain will only expand the federal government. What is always the answer to every problem: why not increase the federal govt. power and spending. McCain & Obama need a fusion ticket, so that 85-90% of the American voters can simply vote for both of them at the same time. People as a whole do not want real solutions to their problems all they want to do is to complain and hope things get better on their own. I can only hope Americans in an election cycle down the road actually vote for people who can solve problems rather than those who will feel their pain and do nothing, but increase the Federal govt. bureaucracy.
