Barr brings the noise

barrsupport.jpg

Denver - Bob Barr promised Libertarians to shock the world if he’s elected to be their presidential nominee.

In a rousing nominating speech to the 500-plus delegates in the convention hall, Barr praised the Libertarian delegates and urged them to let him carry their standard.

“We will send shock waves, not just across this country, not a seismic shift on Capitol Hill, but around the world,” Barr said, “because again, men, women, children and government leaders will once again look to America, not with fear in their eyes, but love in their heart.”

Barr, the former Republican congressman from Cobb County, said he’s learned a lot about Libertarians in just two years of being in the party.

“There has been more discussion of substantive, constitutional issues in the three days I’ve been here with you than in 30 years of working with that other party,” he said. “This the party of substance.”

But he also reiterated his regret for some of the policy decisions he made while serving as a Republican in Congress, especially his support of the Patriot Act and the Defense of Marriage Act.

But he left the podium on a high note, emphasizing the things he said he and the entire party have in common.

“We’ve never been afraid of leading,” he said. “The Libertarian Party knows no fear. Fear is not a part of our platform. It’s not part of our hard wiring. And it’s not part of mine either. Make me your nominee and I will make you proud.”

The AJC loves Barr, he’d pull votes from McCain.

Go Barr……anyone but McCain Our country cannot take four more years like the last eight. Endless war, no vision on the economy, unwillingness to cap oil prices, same old crap!

Dems don’t have answers either, but after eight years of Republicans ruining the country, any change is better that status qoe (mcCain).

I wonder who Barr would draw votes from? I tend to think from the Republican base, because of issues like gun control, fiscal responsibility and the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law (conservatives don’t like it on principle and because it shift the balance of power to the mainstream news media—which always favors liberal causes and politcians).

But I can see Barr’s libertarian platform also appealing to some liberals who believe in legalizing drugs, cutting back on law enforcement’s power to spy on and detain people, and of course the war in Iraq.

What do y’all think? He can’t win, but which of the two major parties will be most impacted by his run?

BARR WINS!

While I agree that Barr is not who I would have first thought of as a presidential candidate, compare him one at a time with Clinton, Obama, and McCain, and good lord, he wins on almost all issues.

I guess I’m voting Libertarian this year. I don’t have to throw away my vote after all!!

Any conservative that votes for Barr and hands this election to a marxist in Obama will be harming their own cause.

That’s right David. Just like they did in ‘92. I do not understand the mentality of these 3rd party types. Their little game never works, and the country pays the price for their self righteous stupidity.

“I’m voting for Barr if I get the chance!”

Barr is the only hope this country has of pulling out of the “death spiral” that the Reps/Dems have put this country in.

This guy is the ulimate right wing Republican. Barr is the wasteful man who led the impeachment proceedings against Clinton (later acquitted by Justice Rehnquist) wasting millions of dollars on a private dalliance because he and his kind could not find anything in their wasteful investigation of the Rose Law Firm. BOB BARR THE NON-LIBERTARIAN!

The only wasted vote is one that doesn’t reflect your conscience. The thinking espoused by Churchill and David is the reason that we are mired in this age of two party dominance.

Libertarians fight to keep Goverment out of peoples bedrooms and out of their medicine cabinates. Bob Barr the Libertarian would be a funny joke if he and his ilk weren’t serious.

Yes David, voting for Barr might help Obama, but why would a conservative vote for McCain? Just like Bush, he’s not the least bit conservative.

Just because he’s old and calls himself a Republican doesn’t make him Ronald Reagan.

Bob Barr has shown what it takes to lead this country. He understands congress and the politics of those scoundrels. Bob Barr is willing to change when someone shows him his position is wrong - he was once vehemently anti-marijuana to the point he debated Neil Bortz taking the position he would arrest his own grandmother if she was dying and had medical marijuana, now he is against the war on drugs and realizes it is merely another tool for control of the individual and his assets by the government. This is quite a breakthrough, he also sees homeland security for the sham it is, another method of control and manipulation. I like Bob Barr and will probably vote for him in 2008 unless they take away my right to vote between now and then.

The libertarians are the only party of the people, by the people. The democrats and republicans are beholden to various corporations and their owners.

GO BOB!!!

We’ll now Florida democrats don’t have to stay home in the general election.

Say NO to a party that does not want to count our votes … even when a republican legislature and republican governor set the time for our primary.

Say NO to McCain.

We don’t have to vote for Obama or McCain.

There may well be more protesters votes than democrats or republicans.

The time is prime.

I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it from the DNC.
