Meet Starchild
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Denver - Pictured here is Starchild, a San Francisco masseur and icon of the California Libertarian Party.
Here he is made up as the Statue of Liberty. But Starchild’s sash reads, “I Miss America.”
Starchild has run for office as a Libertarian a number of times in San Francisco and is, according to Libertarian Party communications director Andrew Davis, “a brilliant and thoughtful Libertarian.”

I’m really wondering why this is here at the AJC.
I’ve met Starchild in 2004, when the LP national convention was in Atlanta. He’s constantly used by the media in a demeaning way as the usual Libertarian.
Starchild is not from GA. He is not in GA. But this was the most you had to write about? Almost as if people don’t dress up and go to Republican and Democratic conventions. Let’s see how many stories you write about them.
Leave Starchild alone, and stop wasting ink and electrons bringing him up without having something relevant about it. Shame on you.

I agree with Brad. The media loves to smear people like this. There are just as many people who dress up at the Democrat and Republican conventions.
Overall, the crowd was very, very nicely dressed and professional.

For the record, I don’t think the Journal-Constitution’s comments about me were demeaning or a smear. Given the statist biases of many journalists I understand the concerns of my fellow Libertarians, but sometimes we may be a little too ready to see negativity where it doesn’t exist. When the media showcases our diversity, creativity, etc., that is a good thing.

I think Starchild looks so cute in the Ms. Liberty outfit. I just love men in drag!!! Ms. Liberty is a symbol of the Libertarian party and of our civil liberties. I have a special connnection to the Statue of Libert.y Denise Jameson :) P.S. I hope out next Presidential candiate helps restore our lost civil liberties.
