Breakfast with Barr
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Denver - Georgia’s Bob Barr hosted reporters for coffee and pastry this morning in his suite at the Sheraton and said if he wins the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination on Sunday, he’ll fight for every vote he can get.
He particularly has his eyes on those Libertarians who thus far have been backing Ron Paul’s bid for the Republican nomination. Paul, the U.S. congressman from Texas, was the 1988 Libertarian Party nominee for president, and many of those voting for him in the GOP primaries can safely be described as Libertarian. As proof, many of the Georgians here this weekend as Libertarian delegates were campaigning for Paul in the Feb. 5 Georgia presidential primary.
Paul has already lost the Republican nomination to John McCain, but has refused to drop out and refused to endorse McCain. Barr believes Paul’s backers will come to him.
“The people he has realize, the many millions, I don’t think those people if there is a candidate out there, it’s highly likely they would be attracted to my candidacy,” Barr said.

Be careful how you use the word “libertarian.” In your sentence, “many of those voting for him in the GOP primaries can safely be described as Libertarian,” the word should not have been capitalized. There is a member of the Libertarian Party, which is a Libertarian. Then there is a person who simply holds the philosophy of libertarianism, which is a libertarian (with a small l). Not all libertarians are Libertarians.

Of course neither should be confused with lIBERTARIANS, spelled with an intial lowercase “l” but the remaining letters capitalized….Be careful!

Yes many will vote for him. But will they raise $35 million for him? That is the real question. Barr will have little impact without millions of dollars himself or a PAC spending big bucks.

Libertariabs would be fine , but it’s the Independents who have no candidate ,who will make the difference in votes as well as money, thats where Paul got his money from , sold - out republicans and moderate & right wing democrats who don’t want to colonized by illegal aliens taking their jobs .

Ron Paul is the only candidate getting my vote. Barr is a pretend libertarian. I don’t buy it.

Bob Barr is Creepy with a capital C. He should form his own party: the CCNC — The Creepy CIA NeoCons.
I just threw my Libertarian Party handbook in the garbage, as that party has now been officially sold out, infiltrated and hijacked by neocon plant Barr.

Bob Barr is a shady character. I don’t trust him. I think he’s a neocon in disguise. I hope Ron Paul supporters don’t fall for his B.S. I would support Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party) over Barr anyway. I still may write in Ron Paul though.

More important than how you use libertarian, with a big L or little l, is the fact that only in the U.S. does libertarian refer to the anti-statist and pro-corporatist, Ayn Rand-ish molestation of classical liberalism. In the rest of the world, historically, “libertarian” has always meant socialist-anarchist - a philosophy based on opposition to all concentration of power in tyrannical institutions, whether private or public. This is the direct descendant of classical liberalism and the only philosophy that should be referred to as “libertarian.”
