David Scott on Hillary Clinton for veep: ‘We’ve got to have working-class whites’

davidscotter.jpg

U.S. Rep. David Scott (D-Atlanta), who was once for Hillary Clinton but is now for Barack Obama, has become the latest to argue for a “dream ticket” that puts the two together.

“We cannot win with just black voters, college students and liberal voters,” Scott is quoted as saying in today’s The Hill. “We’ve got to have working-class whites; we’ve got to have the support of white women. We’ve got to have Hispanics, Jewish voters and Catholics. These are the very people that form the core of Hillary’s support.”

But the same piece says more congressional Democrats would prefer Sam Nunn or John Edwards as Obama’s running mate.

Thank you, Rep. Scott, for pointing out that white women are not the enemy! That some of us preferred Hillary in the primary does not mean we didn’t like, nor wouldn’t support Obama. Personally, I have defended him against slanderous misinformation as much or more as I’ve defended HER from the nastiness being hurled from members of both parties. The Republicans want us to be divided, as do the who-re media whose agenda is their own bottom line. Let’s not give it to them.

I see no reason to try to defend Barack Hussein Obama, the man has no honor he tells you what you want to hear and 90% of the Obama supporters do not even check the facts about his past. Tony Rezko is a prime example he side steps issues about his association with Rezko, funds provided to him by Rezko etc. I have come to expect our politicians to be dishonest but I expect them to be smart enought not to get caught in one lie after another. Example Obama has been caught 4 times lying about how much money he got from Tony Rezko as well as his initial insistance he hardly knew the man. However it was the Rezkos who help Obama buy his South Chicago mansion. He said he wants to be fair and provide a change to Americans kinda like on his youtube.com site if you speak out against him in any way his group will block you from any further comments on his site. How is that for free speech. He has the audacity to warn people to not speak about his wife Michelle, well Michelle became a target the moment she opened her mouth about not being proud of this country. Clinton has been made fun of for years but Obama cant beat a woman who has been the butt of many jokes and names. Billary, Hilter etc. I have hear her called a power hungry slut but god a white racist by Jeremiah Wright. Oh that is another story or should we just say another lie Obama told that in 23 years he never heard Wright say venemous racist remarks. This goes on and on but no one seems to care this man lies as much as George Bush. Obama has associate with some very questionable Middle East individuals but you Obama supporters will say “THAT IS NOT TRUE OBAMA IS THE MESSIAH”, I say he is just more of the same who pays 300,000,000 to get a job that only pays approximately 500k per year.
This includes Hillary Rodham Clinton. I cant justify either of them paying this much money to get the job. American voters are the least informed in the world and deserve what they get.

WE have to have legal working class, unlike our politicians who are trying to take away even those jobs. Democrats, led by Speaker dictator Nancy Pelosi, has caused a major ripple effect amongst others of the party members, by intimidating them. She and other leading Democrats have not only engineered ADVERSELY THE BORDER FENCE, but also trying to gut SAVE Act (H.R.4088). That only 10 have signed the Discharge Petition. The other 39 Democrats have heard the ominous message loud and clear that if they sign the petition and it gets the necessary 218 signatures to force a vote, those Democrats should not count on any favors or help for their congressional Districts from the House leaders. It is obviously to appease the predator businesses, that hire cheap labor, but also church interference and ethnic caucuses. Alas, money talks when re-election is concerned, and to blazes with the 80% of public outcry, who want their borders regulated and the 12 to 30 million illegal immigrants with families to go home. The SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088) is an enforcement Federal bill, which would put arrogant employers in prison or heavily fine them. If you are frustrated with your dollars supporting illegal aliens, compliments of pariah employers, demand your representative co-author the SAVE ACT. free faxes at NUMBERSUSA and toll-free both parties at ((202-224-3121)

Too many people will vote against Hillary no matter what. Keep her off the ticket.

If they don’t get Hillary, they’d darn well better get SOME woman on the ticket (white, black, brown, whatever) in order to get the white woman vote. We’re a pretty significant chunk of the population, and some of us are angry about the sexism displayed during this campaign. I respect black men and women who understand the historical significance of Barack’s run for the presidency, but his was not the only historically significant run. Several Democratic women who are governors would make great veep candidates, and if they’re overlooked, I might just stay home.

‘Course, I live in Georgia. My Democratic vote doesn’t matter because of the electoral college.

It is really a joke to see so many pretend that Obama has a chance…..the game is over and Obama has no chance of winning the general election because there are no caucuses. If a primary were held today in Iowa Obama would lose. I can not wait to see CA and MA come in on election day because if the DNC is fool enough to nominate Obama……..McCain wins both states. We really need to wake up and start kicking out of office all of the Senators and Governors that have endorsed this Obama campaign. MA needs to get rid of Kerry and Kennedy.

Changing rules….There have been no changing of the rules. What there has been is a total lack of understanding the rules by Obamamites. Don’t be fooled because Obama is very clear on what the rules are and have been. It is his understanding of those rules that had him remove his name from the MI ballot. He knew that MI votes/delegates would count in the end even if the issue had to go to the credentials committee first and he removed his name because he knew he would lose MI and thought at least he could argue that his name was not on the ballot…..that is child like behavior…..similar to “My dog ate my homework”. MI will be seated and counted as it’s people voted or this democratic party is over.

Scott is right, but who’s to say that those voters will follow Hillary if she is on the ticket. Besides, there are other people that attract those very voters on a Obama ticket. Tennessee governor Phil Breseden, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Joe Biden of Delaware & Sam Nunn of Georgia. If he put her on the ticket with him, people who don’t like her will turn out to vote against her, plus there would be no balance on the ticket because they have similar positions on all of the issues. He needs to add balance to the ticket.

Keith: They have similar positions because Obama copies. Hillary as VP will help the ticket but many of us will not vote Hillary as VP because we can not risk this country in the hands of Obama, another know nothing like Bush. Obama will not win no matter who he has on the ticket even if Gore agreed to be VP. I am a very strong Hillary supporter but will not vote for her as VP under Obama. Most people do not consider who the VP is before voting. If Hillary is nominated and chooses to take Obama as VP_, I would vote that ticket.

Jodi, a failure to turn out and vote for the Democrat on the ticket is the same as voting for McCain and more of the same s—t. Lots of people yammer on about their principles, and why Nader or Barr is their guy, or why they don’t like their choices, but the reality remains the same: McCain or the Democratic nominee will be sworn in next January. I hope you can live with yourself if McCain drags this war on (and thousands of lives and the economy down with it) for another six or eight years. Just as frightening: McCain stacking the Supreme Court with corporation-friendly, anti-individual-freedom neo-fascists.

No matter WHAT, I will never, NEVER vote for Obama in the GE. The sexism by the media and the pundits, not to mention the Obama supporters, have made Hillary’s road tougher and harder for her to be treated as an equal in this campaign. DUH! Doesn’t that sound like a reflection of what women have had to put up with for decades?! We don’t earn as much for the same jobs, we get branded as b*** when we assert ourselves and use our intellects… I’m SICK of it!! I will write in HILLARY CLINTON should she not get the nomination in August. Her strength and tenacity is just what this country needs. We don’t need a naive, little-experienced preacher type who can spin words like a pied piper. He’s all words and no substance! He will get eaten alive by the GOP - mark my words. Four years of McCain is ever so much better than 8 years of Obama as our leader. At least we know who McCain is and what he stands for! HILLARY in ‘08!

The DNC needs to include Hillary Clinton voters - who will NOT vote for Obama without Hillary on the ticket. The DNC simply assumes it knows what we will do - or ‘punishes’ us if we do not vote for Obama. WE ARE NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA - WE ARE VOTING FOR HILLARY - IF WE HAVE TO WRITE IN HER NAME ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER.

Once again Democrats shoot themselves in the foot.

The viciousness and obnoxiousness of the young “Obamanuts” as shown on the formerly popular democratic site Dem Underground caused many democrats who had participated for years to leave the site AND turned them against Obama.

While Obama may be a good orator of written speech, and speaks in great pie in the sky generalities, he comes up with no specifics. Hillary may be a detail wonk, but she has the ideas, speaks explicity on the issues in detail and HAS THE EXPERIENCE.

As someone said, if Obama were a white young man presenting his experience and resume, he woud never have even been contemplated as a contender for the nomination of the dem party. As usual if the dems can find a way to shoot themselves in the foot they never miss the opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Obama cannot win the general election. He is only the nominee because the rules committee undemocratically took votes from Hillary and uncommitted votes and renamed them votes for Obama. Obama is the nominee because the Democratic party has “Super Delegates”to insure the will of the democratic voters can be ignored. African American voters and college students are not enough to have him elected.

With Hillary Clinton as veep and the big states she carried as well as the popular vote there is a chance they could together carry the country for the dems.

Bottom line, I would not vote for Barack Obama. Without Hillary Clinton on a dem ticket, I’ll re-register as an independent, and either stay home or write in Hillary for President - and she wasn’t even my first choice.

A word to the young Obamanuts - your obnoxious behavior, constant name calling anyone who didnt support Obama, a racist, has made more enemies among the core democratic voters than any republican attacks could have.
