Bob Barr jumps into the presidential race, but keep an eye on Ron Paul
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
So now we know that Bob Barr is running for president.
First, we’ll have to wait and see if he wins the Libertarian party’s nomination. The Denver convention runs May 22 to 26.
A few, including Newt Gingrich, are already calling Barr a Republican spoiler. “Bob Barr will make it marginally easier for Barack Obama to become president. That outcome threatens every libertarian value Barr professes to champion,” Gingich says in today’s Washington Times.
But if Barr is a spoiler, he isn’t the only one. The L.A. Times political blog, Top of the Ticket, says this:
”Quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain when Republicans gather for their national convention in Minnesota at the beginning of September.”
No word on exactly how they might embarrass McCain — whether through a demonstration, work stoppage, or simply tricking the nominee into a pair of mismatched socks.
But if any of you Paulites want to confess a detail or two, please give a call.

I wonder how the Republicans will react when there’s riots at their convention in Minnesota this fall?
This is the only serious question for the conservatives here, and it’s extremely urgent that they answer it first and foremost. Because they’re so disorganized and stupid, you see.
Right, Churchill? (snicker)

Republicans have no conservative to vote for, that is why the party may (and, in my opinion, should) split.

As a republican, I am sad to say I can’t vote for McCain. He is no different than the dems. My husband and I will vote Libertarian this time. The conservative voice needs to be heard. At this point in time, it is being ignored. Maybe a strong libertarian showing will be a wake-up call to this country.

As a long-time republican, I can not vote with a clear conscious, for McCain. There isn’t any difference between him and the democrats. Our country does need a strong, conservtive third party.

Please. RP supporters are not out to “embarrass” McCain, as if we were junior high students playing a prank on the substitute teacher.
We care deeply about principles: a non-interventionist foreign policy, individual freedom, fiscal responsibility, sound money, and, of course, The Constitution. Mr. McCain, for his entire career, has opposed these principles.
We aim to advance our principles. If McCain gets “embarrassed” by his own record, then that is his problem.

Although I hate not being able to vote in a primary this past year I switched to Independent. Are their any true fiscal conservative out there? If there is one in this election that is who I will vote for. This country needs its credit cards cut up!

Lynn is doing a common trick where she wants people to feel like her opinion counts as three people’s opinions, but it doesn’t. McCain is conservative on many things like taxing, the war, and healthcare. He is also an idiot on the economy which is a common republican presidential trait. I would go for Ron Paul because he brings the best of both sides of the aisles. He is not for taxing at all, he follows the constitution, he’s an economist, and he wants us out of the war and to leave other countries alone. And don’t mistake him for an isolationist either. The government we have is to provide services to us and to allow us the freedom to do with our money what we please in a free market capitalistic environment. If that means donating some to the survivors of devastating nature events in china, mumbai, etc, then you are free to do so. But don’t blame government when it’s job isnt to cover up for americans being selfish pigs when it comes to helping others. its not their job

Let the Ru Paul types try. This is the reason the Ru Paul movement stayed in park. Republicans do not suffer protesting, anit-war, hippies types well. Whenever I see a group of ragtags protesting, my first question is, “Do these people have jobs. Do they take vacation days?” I do not understand how that works. Like I said, let them try. They will find themselves further isolated from power within our party. Peace.
P.S. Ru Paul is still a boob.

I am voting for Barr because in my opinion, he is the best candidate for the job. And if more people would vote for Barr instead of blindly following McCain, we can make a difference. You are supposed to vote for the candidate you think will do the best job, not the one you think will win. If that was the case, why not let Vegas pick odds and pick the President?

When Obama stacks the supreme court with liberals and gives us every gun control law out there you will know who to blame.
Bob Barr picked the wrong time to run with 6 justices of the supreme court about to retire and with Obama being the most liberal candidate ever.
God help this nation because the conservative voters are going to do great harm to this nation with their stupidity.
Fine elect Obama but then those conservative voters will have no credibility to then go after Obama on issues.
You conservatives pick this time when Obama will have huge majorities in the senate and the house to give this country such a liberal president.

Churchill ………..still waiting on your definition of “conservative”
By Churchill

Tom, I will answer your question. A conservative is someone like, Buckley, Ronaldusmagnus. Ya know someone that trusts the greatness of the American people. A conservative understands that government is the problem, not the solution. Not to mention lower taxes and an understanding of national security. McCain was not my first choice, but he is far better than the democrat alternatives. As for Ru Paul, the man is an isolationst. He is a century or two late to the dance.
Now, answer my question. Why are you a phony conservatie?
Peace.

Barr for president. OK, I have laughed until my sides hurt, dried my eyes, taken a deep breath and can now type again….Bob Barr for president! Good one!
For all you “I can’t vote for McCain, so I am voting Libertarian …”
Read the Libertarian Website on issues - read immigration. http://www.lp.org/issues/platform_all.shtml#immgr
Read their platform “Repeal all immigration quotas”.
Bob Barr is an open borders boob who would knit socks while naked if he thought it would get him on TV for one more head shot. Libertarians are open borders nutballs.
MOST OF MEXICO WANTS TO LIVE HERE! And they won’t vote GOP or Libertarian.
On not voting for McCain or Obama….me either. Ugly ain’t it?

This is not a black or white world. No politician on the political scene is perfect, but party affiliation matters. I am far better served by those on the right than those on the left. I will not waste my vote with some sort of impotent protest vote. I am glad your are not in debt and that you have money in the bank, Tom. Just wait till you make what the federal government deems to be too much. As a small business owner I get caught by the stupid AMT year after year. I feel that I am being punished for my success. I could have taken Mrs. Churchill around the world, twice- first class, for what I had to pay the greedy, inefficient government this year. I will not vote for some lib just because the Republican in the race is not as conservative as I would like him to be. Peace.

if you feel punished for your success, maybe it’s because your feelings don’t mean squat to your politicians.
this is one of the funniest and most depressing races i’ve seen in years. poor republicans, you had everything you wanted on a platter for 6 years. congress and the president could have fixed the tax codes for you, but instead they made policies which made their friends money and made the country fester with unpaid debts. and here you are, ready to elect another one, to save you from those horrible liberals.
paranoia must make your life so exciting!

I’m a republican who is going to vote for McCain only if the selects the correct VP. Someone like Bob Barr. Since none of the three socialist turkeys that fill our evening news are worth voting for McCain is the only one who has a chance of term limiting himself. If McCain fails this test Nader is my man.

McCaint is NOT the ‘presumptive’ nominee yet, and he has much to overcome as Ron Paul’s message continues to reach millions of new minds. read all about it…

McCain is a fringe lunatic and a spoiler. He’s not even a Republican.This is fact. Don’t waste your vote on him and split the conservative vote. Conservatives need to unite behind a conservative, which would be Bob Barr. Do NOT waste your vote on giving more power to ‘La Raza’ and their candidate Mccain. A vote for McCain is a vote for Obama. Check out some facts on the Mccain;

For details about what Andrew Malcolm of the LA Times is babbling senilely about, your readers may wish to read my online series, “Ron Paul’s Delegate Wars:” http://www.nolanchart.com/article3438.html
That’s all I wished to say. But I do have to respond to the previous guy. Ron Paul did NOT use money donated for his presidential campaign on his congressional race. He couldn’t do that, by law. The congressional funds were raised in a separate money bomb.
You were taken in by deliberate misinformation, planted online by former RNC blogmeister Patrick Ruffini.
